We had a cancelled flight followed by a changed itinerary to Machu Picchu which meant we unfortunately only got to spend about 6hrs here however in that time, the staff were so helpful with coordinating taxi transfer late at night, preparing a breakfast to take away last minute and allowing us to store our bags for 2 days. The room was cosy, comfortable bed and a hot shower which was so needed. The location of the property which got to be a bit more explored prior to taking our bags is wonderful with lots of boutique shops, restaurants (including vegetarian) and bars though be mindful there are some steep hills to access it if accessibility is a consideration. Would absolutely stay here again if I came back to Cusco.

This was a decent hotel overall but a few things that happened is the reason for the 3 star rating. A member of the cleaning staff took a dookie in my toilet while I was out. I get it that sometimes when you gotta go, you gotta go, and I'm not knocking them for that. However, if you clog said toilet, especially with the toilet paper that needs to go in a basket, own up to it and get it fixed before the guest comes back. It was awkward going to the front desk about this, but they were quick to fix the issue.
The atrium of the hotel was very noisy at all hours. Lots of tours start at 4am, so there is a lot of hustle and bustle that you can hear through your room. There are also late arrivals where a doorbell needs to be rung to be let in. It echoes throughout the atrium when it chimes. Bring your ear plugs.
The hot water wasn’t dependable. Sometimes you had a nice, strong hot shower and others you had to hustle to get the soap off as you felt the cold water seep in.
The staff was friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. When our group left for a 4am trek, the hotel gave us a brown bag breakfast, which was nice. The breakfast was typical for Peruvian hotels, including all the usual items.
Out of the 3 hotels I stayed at on my trip, this was my least favorite, but it was affordable and in a great location. All the major attractions were walkable from here and there were some great restaurants in the area. It could also accommodate for our large group.

Hotel Huascaran is a nice small hotel near the city center. Staff were very nice, helpful and considerate. Property is pretty, a light breakfast is included and they have 24 hour reception. Rooms are basic but clean. May want to bring a washcloth, they don’t have them (or anywhere in Cusco really). We enjoyed our stay!

This property is beautiful. It’s just a few blocks from the plaza. Best of all, the staff were incredible. My son broke his glasses while on the trip and the receptionist walked with us to the optometrist. We couldn’t find someone to fix them but she went from one store to the next until we found someone. This is a small family run hotel, centrally located, well run and a very nice place to stay.

This place was adorable! The room was spotless, and the employees were all so nice. They start breakfast really early in the day so we were always able to grab something on our way out on our early tours. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the center of the historical center and literally steps away from a pharmacy and just down the block from a couple of convenient stores. Plenty of small shops and food places within minutes of walking. Highly recommend it if you are visiting Cusco!

Charming hotel, delicious breakfast and friendly staff. When the family room we booked was accidentally given to somebody else, they gave us two rooms next to each other instead. Courtyard is a nice place to sit and read. Staff helped us get a taxi to our next stop in our travels. This is the second time we have been here and we will continue to come back in the future.

When I arrived to the hotel it was closed! I knocked several times and a woman opened saying that they were not open!!!! The hotel looked abandoned and had dog poop everywhere so I was not able to stay there and Travelocity charged me for my stay!!!! Even though I've been chatting with Travelocity and they said they will refund me they didn't. So disappointing, I had to find another place to spend my time in Cusco. I don't recommend using Travelocity. There is a facebook page of complains about Travelocity services!!!!Don't use it!

I had booked a double King bedroom and upon arrival I was given a queen single room. I told them this is not what I booked. I was then moved to a hotel closer to the center but then they also tried giving me a small room. I was then given a bigger room after stating this is too small but still was only a single queen bed. Overall ok, but staff tried to \"bait & switch\"
Upon arrival, we were told that our room was \"occupied\" and were offered a room at another location. We asked to see it first, and were glad that we did, as the 'other location' was some random apartment - not even another comparable hotel or hostel. We refused. They miraculously \"found\" a room for us. It felt like a bait and switch. We ended up in a much smaller room than we had booked (and paid for) but it was fine. In the end, Hotels.com made it right by offering us a partial refund. Hostal is nice (3 stars is about right) with a lovely courtyard and a decent breakfast. We were just disappointed in the hassle upon arrival.

The hostal, is simple but has everything you need. Tea and coffee is available all day which is nice and breakfast is simple but plentiful and you can even order an omelette. It is 10 min walk Plaza de Armas and next door to Green Point organic restaurant. I want to highly praise the receptionist at the hostal. With little english and my basic spanish, they had really helped me in many ways. I sadly got pick pocketed and they helped me call for a taxi to go to the police station and allowed me to use their computer to contact my family, which was very kind of them.

Courtyard is very nice, and breakfast was satisfying. Door locks don't feel super secure but the area itself feels safe. The location is a short hike up a narrow street where you have to dodge cars going by. I did not like that the housekeeping service moved our stuff around. The front desk can help you with taxi services but I felt that their prices were high. Overall met our needs, but there are no frills with this stay.

We stayed at this hostel for 4 days and the experience was not good. On the first day we didn't have basic facility like hot water. The next day in the morning front desk said to take shower after 10am if you need hot water if we needed hot water. The wifi over here is pathetic. We got speed of around 100 kbps which is like having no internet at all. Also on 3rd day we had to get you early for morning tour and found that electricity in our room didn't work. Front desk had just sorry to say for this

Just finished an 8 night stay at Apu Huascaran. It was amazing the staff do so much for you to make everything right. We booked 5 tours right there at the hotel and everything was just perfect. It is in the best part of town with lots of resturants and shops around it. Luis and his staff are extremely friendly and got above and beyond to make your stay the best. I can say for my family they sure made that happen so thank you for that. I know when i return to Cusco this is the place we will come back to without a doubt.

Outstanding in almost every respect. But if you land in one of the first floor rooms near the office (I was in 102) don't plan on sleeping past 5 am. Noise from the staff or folks departing early will wake you.

The one day we badly needed a shower the water was off for municipal maintenance. That wasn’t the hotel’s fault but it was frustrating. Hot water takes awhile to come - you need to run the water for 5 minutes which felt wasteful. Internet was ok but not super fast.

This is our second time here and won’t be our last. Apu Huascaran is one of this hotels that makes you feel welcome and at home. The hotel is located in the charming neighborhood of San Blas just a couple of blocks from the main square, fat enough to avoid all the hustle but conveniently located in one of the nicest neighborhood Cuzco has. It’s rooms are spacious and beds and linens are extremely comfortable. All rooms face the interior patio and noise travels up in the mornings during breakfast prep time, but at least for us it has never been an issue. The only downside I could mention is that the bathrooms are a bit dated and the shower doors could be fixed replaced, since they don’t run properly and water tends to leek out, but other than that it is the perfect place for a stay in Cuzco. The staff is just amazing, polite, always helpful, looking to provide any assistance needed and tending to our needs at every moment with a smile and the best attitude. We hope to return to Cuzco and when we do we’ll definitely stay here again

I can’t really review Apu Husacaran because we didn’t end up staying there. When we arrived there was no record of our Expedia reservation and after an hour of confusion it seemed the hotel staff found our booking on another system. However Apu Huascaran was full so instead they gave us a room at their other hotel in town Casa Oblitas. The casa oblitas was in a good location with basic rooms and breakfast. I can’t compare to Apu as we never stayed there. The hotel staff were very apologetic and Luis gave us great recommendations for coffee and restaurants and they covered the cost of our cabs between the hotels and stored our luggage while we went to Machu Picchu. Overall we got everything we needed to complete our stay in Cusco it was just a bit different than we had planned

Not what I expected
We stayed at this property the years ago and we came back because we loved our previous room. This time was quite disappointing and didn't seem worth the price. The hotel staff was nice enough to change the first room we received which was very basic and had paint peeling off the ceiling. The second room seemed better but we later found it was in a state of disrepair as well. The plaster on the walls was peeling and bubbling in places. Sink pipes were visible as you'd find in a cheap hostel in Peru. There was a distinct sewage smell coming from the sink. Worst of all, water gushed like a river from the shower door and we had to damn it up with towel just to take a shower. We mentioned this to the girl at the reception, who seemed surprised, however there was so much corrosion on the bottom of the door that I find it hard to believe we're the first to make that complaint. It seems there has been little to no upkeep since our last stay. I'm embarrassed to have taken my family here. I can not recommend.

We enjoyed the breakfast (note - skip the coffee, and get one down the road at Manuelo and Escubio). We liked that they were able to store our bags while we were on the Inka Trail.
