Amazing service, great location and comfortable facilities.

We were a family of 4, and one fell ill to altitude sickness. The staff was incredibly helpful and provided oxygen to help the kid sleep at night, the breakfast was delicious and every time we needed something, staff was ready to provide it.

San Blas hotel

We spent two days at this hotel at the start of our trip. We had planned to stay at a different hotel for the last portion of our trip in Cusco. We're so glad we only spent two days at Casa Andina Standard. The hotel itself was okay, but the room carpet was worn and looked dirty. The bathroom tub didn't have much padding beneath it and it felt like i would fall through. While I didn't like the room, the staff was great/helpful and the neighborhood is a good one.

Doesn’t have resturant or any other options to lunch or dinner, no service room. There are some closer options to eat, but close early, around 9:30pm.

The location is great, away from the center but still within a walking distance. The staff is outstanding, very friendly and caring, ready to help with anything, even making good recommendations of where to go and how to get there. The hotel has several levels with stairs so you just need to be ready to go up and down for breakfast or go out. The rooms are very confortable and clean, with a lot of TV channels available and the bathroom and shower are roomy. Overall, a great choice!

Good choice!

The hotel is nice and is within the heart area of San Blas. There is a store nearby and to find essentials. The breakfast buffet is fair enough. Special attention to Gerson and Karen for their support during our stay. They helped us a lot and giving all possible aid because of the altitude sickness. We are happy with the received services.

Too far, too steep, too little privacy

I wish I could give this hotel a glowing review, but for me it really missed the mark.

The first thing was that as a tourist, I was very far from the central touristed area. Way up a hill away from the main plaza. At 11,000 feet, unless you have just finished or are training for the Inca Trail the climb back to the hotel would be arduous. The view was fine, but hardly worth the walk in my opinion.

The first thing that I saw in the lobby was a gleaming Espresso machine. The second thing I saw was a sign that a cup of it would cost me about $1.50. Same with the room, two large bottles of water, each with a 5 Sol sign on them. Come on! You are charging me over a $100 USD a night and want to charge me for a bottle of water I can get on the street for less than a dollar?

Check in was smooth and efficient. My room was 415.This hotel was nothing but stairs. Stairs up to the room. Stairs down to the lobby. More stairs down to the restaurant.

The room was small and efficient. Kind of like a college dorm room. Bed, table squished into one corner, TV on the wall that could be pulled out to face the bed. Oddly shaped room, few right angles. He bed was comfortable and I didn’t notice a lot of noise from the other guests. The one window in the room looked out onto the landing for that floor. Really! If you had the shades open you were on display.

Great hotel. The room was spacious. The shower had great water pressure. We were allowed to leave our bags for the 4 days we went on the inca trail. Breakfast had lots of options.

You could hear noise from the hallway in the room. Had to walk up a bit of a hill to get there.

Second time staying here

Very close and within a 10 min walk to the town center, it is quite a climb to the top of the hill but we do not mind the walk. Safe area, and very quiet. The breakfast is very simple but good enough to start your day, eggs with juices, cereals and bread with jams. Very clean and the folks are very helpful and friendly. The only problem we had was with room 201 or 210,same room we stayed at both times, please make the curtains longer or add another set, they won't cover the whole window which makes you have to choose what part of the room you want privacy in, and it lets all the daylight into the room when the sun comes up. Besides that, it was all perfect, thank you and would not hesitate to find another hotel if we return.

Pleasant stay for 3 days

A relative \"dump\"...find another place to stay!!!!

I cannot fathom what I read to have reserved one night -- thank God, not longer -- at this dismal spot, which has probably not been updated since the Dark Ages. Yes, San Blas is a wonderful neighborhood, but there were far superior options steps away! From arrival to departure, it was a let down...at best! The room doors are cheap and the walls far from sound proof. I was awakened at 3 am when another guest returned to his room down the hall, then listened as he vomited for som time. Breakfast offered was barely acceptable.

Recently stayed in several hotels in Peru in the same hotel category and price range. My observation is that for the price you pay, another chain ranks much higher than this one. Quite disappointed in some aspects with this hotel.
Staff is fantastic. Great service, they really do seem to care. However:
• In the reception area, you can only find coca tea. I believe they should also offer hot water and other types of tea such as Muña tea for those suffering altitude sickness but better to drink right before night time as it relaxes you.
• No free water available in the rooms for brushing teeth. Must purchase it additionally.
• Same blunt breakfast served as all other hotels in the same category. Could differentiate a bit by providing some local specialties and to change it a bit each day. I would highly recommend adding avocado which tastes really good in Peru to the menu.
• Too many stairs, no lift in the section of the hotel that has 3 floors. This can be pretty hard to climb several times a day at this altitude.
• Free wifi connection and speed is horrible. They offer a better quality wifi at a cost (€3 per day) which I found non acceptable for the price range of this hotel.
• Not all rooms are equal. Some are great and look into the beautiful courtyard, and some don’t even have windows. Price should be different.
• We were not informed that the hotel offers shuttle service to airport for $5 (found out by other reviewers). Would be good if guests were informed

Hotel with many amenities.

This hotel had very helpful and friendly staff. The room was clean, spacious with all the amenities including a room with computer to print boarding passes. The only problem was the barking dogs in the neighbourhood. Unfortunately this was not within the hotel's ability to correct. The staff was able to communicate in English and were helpful to arrange taxi to the airport. Would highly recommend.

Casa Andina Classico San Blas

THis is a small, no frills hotel. I had booked it sight unseen for my arrival night (before heading out on the Inca Trail)because my trekking group had also booked us in there on the night before our departure.
The place is very clean and the staff are absolutely great.There is a decent breakfast buffet but no meals are served. The hotel is situated in the oldest part of the city, San Blas, and surrounded by narrow,cobbled streets,and small shops, making for an interesting browse. There are many adobe brick homes behind the hotel,from which I heard barking dogs at one point in the night.
As with many economy South American hotels, the heat was barely adequate.
I found in later conversation with other members of our group, it is possible to get more for less at other hotels, if you are interested in amenities.

We think the bugs that got stuck to the walls bit my husband
in many different places.So,my recommendation was to install
window screens,so if the windows are opened for ventilation,
the bugs can not come in.

Plumbing issues

When I arrived to the hotel, this was nice and the staff at that time were very polite and educated. However, on the second day, I noticed the toilet was not flushing at all. I informed the Reception staff to have a look while I was out and they said they´d send someone. However, the toilet was still not working.I called reception and one of the reception staff came saying that it is fixed already. a few hours again, the toilet was not flushing at all. I called again reception the following day -3rd day - and they said that they would move me to another room. However, I had 3 big suticases which were already unpacked, to pack everything and to be moved to a higher floor and not having an elevator and having just two nights left of staying, defenitely, this was not an option for me.Having explained this to reception, I just asked kindly to them that I just want to have the toilet fixed since moving would be too much hassle for me and doing this was not a good thing to do to enjoy my holidays. Reception said that they would look into it but at the end, nothing was fixed. My partner and I had to go to a public área restroom which was unacceptable. On the other hand, the housekeeping staff took good care of the cleanliness of the room every day and the wait staff was truly great, the brekafast was great as well since there was variety of food to choose from.

The hotel looks much better in the pictures.

The staff was not friendly at all. We asked for a second heater and they said we only have the rigth to one heater per person (eventhough the hotel was not full).
Breakfast was horrible and same thing day after da. Coffee and tea were cold everytime.
My friend stayed at the same hotel but made the reservation directly though the hotel and they offer a bus ride from airport to the hotel and vice versa. They did not want to pay for the ride back from the hotel to the airport.
The hotel is also very noisy. Every morning (between 5.00 and 6.00 am which is when most of the people take their tours) I could hear people walking in the rooms upstairs or in the hallways.

This was a good hotel near the main plaza in Cusco. It was comfortable and a pretty good rate. The only downside was you had to adjust the hot and cold water the whole time while taking a shower because the temperature would randomly get hot and then cold.

Less Luxury than Expected

Although the website photos are very elegant, and this hotel is located a bit further up a mountainside road than some others (in proximity to the central plaza of Cusco,) it is not nearly as quiet or refined as expected. Breakfast is OK, although I stayed at another hotel in the area (Rumi Punku) and found my overall experience to be a lot more enjoyable. The staff at Casa Andina seemed not to communicate effectively between one another and were not very personable. Example, I requested a car service weeks in advance from the hotel back to the airport, and upon arrival to the airport did confirm with 2 separate front desk members about that pre-arrangement. The day of/time of return, said car was nowhere to be found and we had to wait an extra 25 minutes for another car to arrive. Shouldn't be a big deal, yet when traveling internationally small details like transit become very important. Not the best but not the worst hotel either.

Okay location, questionable staff

I asked them to set me up for a ride from the airport to the hotel since it says they can on our website...well I have them my payment info and there was no cab available to pick us up when we arrived. Still charged though. Also the night we returned from the inca trail the front desk says they have no more rooms and would move us to their other cusco location. Umm it's nearly midnight and I've been up since 3am...and I prepaid for my room months ago to avoid this. Thanks though, no like I'm dead beat tired and have a flight in the crack if dawn or anything...

Helpful Staff in Good Location

I liked that this was slightly outside the Plaza de Aramas location. It means it's a little quiter with less foot traffic. It's a nice walk through (very safe) streets that passes by shops that don't have the hectic pressure and crowds that you'll find in the main plaza. The hotel staff was very helpful with suggestions (where to find another market, distances/taxi prices to different areas, general questions about Cusco). We were able to store our bags there on two occasions when we left to hike the Inca Trail and on a 7 day rain forest tour. Both times our bags were waiting for us in our room when we checked back in.

Great location

Great little hotel in the heart of everything in Cuzco. Comfortable, clean rooms and a cozy courtyard. Incredibly friendly, helpful staff. Some downsides - the water temperature in the shower fluctuates a LOT. And the heater took a couple nights to get the hang of since you cannot set an actual temperature. Also while we were there, there was daily day time construction so it was hard to enjoy the courtyard for too long.

We were staying for two nights, but checked out after one. It's a climb to get to this hotel, but that wasn't the issue. The rooms were cold and no hot water. Try locking the door to your room. Directv reception was horrible. Better hotels in area for similar price.

A home-like feeling hotel

A beautiful home-like hotel located in the heart of the colonial Cusco. The access to the hotel is via centennial narrow streets that give you the feeling of traveling back on time and make you feel the spirit of the proud ancient Inca culture.
The rooms are comfortable, some with view to the Peruvian Andes and others to the internal gardens. The staff is first class, very nice, multilingual, ready to help and guide you any time. The breakfast is very good. It is served since 5 AM witch allow you to plan properly your full day tours .

I stayed five nights at the Casa Andina San Blas and relative to other hotels in the area, Casa Andina was better then most. Only a short five minute walk to the main square in Cuzco. All the staff, including cleaning people and maintenance staff were always cordial and engaging. For the money, I highly recommend Casa Andina San Blas.

Great rooms but location is up on hill

The rooms in the hotel was a pleasant surprise as they were big, comfy including the showers. We stayed here for a night on way back from MachhuPicchu. The hotel was able to call a taxi for us to do a bit of sightseeing. It is not far from the plaza de armas in Cuzco but it does require 10 min walk - which is not fun uphill walk after dinner. It is nestled on a hill and does require a bit of climb. However, the hotel does have very nice facilities with lawn. Wifi and breakfast were great and we enjoyed our stay here.

Very affordable but rooms are very small

Rooms at the Tambo Arriero were much more spacious and equal surrounding area. The views and the garden and common areas were very nice. Breakfast is limited but what you expect from a budget hotel. Rooms were too tight. Location is near the main touristy areas but thru some tight narrow streets... safe but for your non-Spanish speaking folks it might seem dangerous... old coble stone streets and narrow walkways give it a certain charm.

Great hotel!

Casa Andina San Blas was a very nice hotel. The rooms were clean, modern and larger than most. The staff was knowledgeable about area sights and restaurants. They arranged taxis for us on several occasions and the drivers were always on time with the price as quoted. In fact, the only drawback to the hotel is that it is located on a hill. Great views of Cusco and you get to walk down to the town center and most of the restaurants and sights. Of course, you also have to walk up,up, up at the end of the day! Besides this, a great place to stay!

The location is great- close to restaurants and markets etc though not near the city centre (but you can still walk there).
The hotel itself has a beautiful courtyard with plenty of space to rest in the sun. Unfortunately our room didn't have any natural light or view and the window faced an indoor hallway- so request a room with a view if you want to rest up in your room to acclimatize.
The staff are lovely and the service was fine.

After hiking the inca trail for 4 days the Casa Andina was a nice change of pace. Huge, comfortable bed, very clean, beautiful courtyard, and good breakfast. Only two issues we experienced while there: 1. The hot water in the shower was flaky and hard to control; it was either too hot or ice cold. 2. When leaving, we asked the concierge to call us a taxi. They quoted us 10 soles, but the cabbie tried to charge us 30--we gave up arguing with him at 20 soles. Kind of a scummy bait-and-switch; the hotel should consider using a different cab company.

Average hotel - good location for the right price

Average hotel - nothing wrong with it as such but just not much wow factor either - for the main standard rate price this would be a disappointing hotel but if you can get a discounted rate like we did then it was good. Location ok and close to centre - 5 to 10 minute walk but up a hill - San blas is a nice area to vist though

Pretty good hotel

Our room was pretty spacious. It was clean and quiet. The location was nice. San Blas is pretty close to Plaza de Armas. From the outside the hotel looks old, but when you enter the inside, it was quite spacious. The only problem that we had was there's a miscommunication. We asked the concierge to arrange a transportation to Sascayhuaman ruins but the transport took us to alpaca shopping center. Luckily the store was located near the ruins so we walk to the ruins. Then we took a ghetto taxi for 8 soles back to the hotel.

Nice hotel with a great location.

Overall my stay was satisfying. The room was clean & comfortable, there was accessible internet service, and the staff was helpful and friendly. It was also very nice to be in the San Blas part of town.

Hike a hill a day.

Stayed 5 nights in Cusco at this quaint hotel. Located a top a steep narrow street. Staff was helpful and polite but not over the top wonderful. Chose this location essentially because we wanted a room to sleep three, husband and I traveling with our 21 year old daughter. Thus we enjoyed the three single beds, comfy and clean. Noise outside rooms in early morning loud from workers going down corridor. Electricity went out one night and was cold in the room. Complimentary breakfast was enjoyable and filling.

Not the best in the strip but OK

Expected a greatest hotel with moré shows, restaurants, stores, charming look as others in the strip, but was not espectacular neither awesome experience. That's why is just OK.
I could point to the Buffet which was really good for the price payed.

Nice escape in Cusco

This is a perfect place to relax...catch up on your sleep...shower and just recharge from all of your hiking and other wild events you may encounter while touring Peru. Located in the center of San Blas, this hotel has fantastic staff, clean rooms and a great breakfast. This is the place I will return if I return to Cuzco.

OK , convenient location.

My stay was OK but I do have some criticisms. Cuzco is very cold at night and hot liquids help digest foods at high altitudes. The rooms are not equipped with anything for boiling water as do hotels in Lima in the same price range.Also the staff was not fast and I had to repeat requests several times.

It's a little disappointing

The hotel is nice, but the breakfast disapointing. If you come to the breakfast after 9 am, there is no longer anything in the buffet. There is no fruit or cheese, they do not replace. The comfort room is wanting, but the staff is kind and efficient.

The hotel is just good. there are lots of hotels nearest of Plaza D'armas and atrations and restaurants. The bathroom is small and a little it old. The staff is good and kind. The breakfast is ok.

A decent place at a reasonable rate

The staff was very nice; the room had a nice view and it's close to the Plaza De Armas, the center of old Cuzco. The room was fairly nice except the heater didn't work very well and the windows weren't very secure or air-tight. In general it was a nice place to stay and wasn't at all pretentious.
