Our flight LATAM LA 2071 got canceled on 9/19/2025. We checked in IIIa hotel next day on 9/20/2025. The staffs are friendly.
We asked Hotel.com to contact the IIIa hotel to get one night refund.It was not successful - no one answer the phone @ IIIa hotel. No recommendations for this IIIa hotel.

The area is very walkable! We appreciated the hotel storing our luggage while we were away on a trek. Having a kettle in the room was handy.

There were many ants on the floor during our second stay which were not noted the first time.

The deluxe room on the 5th floor with the jacuzzi was nicely decorated (better than pictured) and the jacuzzi had ample warm water. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast space was hectic one morning with very few clean tables and limited food options available by 9:40am. However, eggs are cooked to order so that is nice. The staff will also prepare a take away bag for breakfast if you have an early day trip departure.

The ceiling in the washroom has a lot of black mold on it and a slight smell which is not at par with the quality of the rest of the space. The staff were not able to provide a cork screw or wine glasses when asked. Bathrobes are not provided (even though they are pictured). We felt the price point was a bit high for what you get. The housekeeper cleaned the room but moved a bunch of our stuff and placed it on different shelves and in the cupboard which wasn’t really appreciated when we came back and had to find where our things had been put.

Our room was wonderful, the property and the room was much nicer than the pictures appear. It is an excellent hotel for the price and in a great area that is quiet and in the more pedestrian friendly San Blas area. I would stay here again when I return to Cusco in the future.

I will share the Pros and The Cons.

First of all the location of this hotel is good, it’s in an area called San Blas, which is a nice walkable area, and close to the 12 angle stone, and also very walkable to plaza de armas.

I also liked that they had free teas available for guest, at all times.

The beds were good, they felt comfortable.

Reception took care of our luggage when we arrived early.

****Cons-

We had a crazy situation.

It was 1 am, my family and I were asleep and this man suddenly unlocks our door and comes into our room,
I woke up panicking and screaming told him to get out of the room, not knowing what was happening I closed the door on him.
I later found out reception made a mistake and gave him a key for my room instead of his,

This experience alone ruined my stay.

It’s 1am, pitch black, and a stranger walks into your room while you are asleep with your family.

I do understand this was a weird situation and it’s probably not a common one, but it ruined it the stay for Me.

The day after the incident, I asked reception if they could provide another heater because the wall mounted heater they have doesn’t heat the room very well, it’s still very cold, and they said “we can get you one, but if another rooms needs it we will have to take it away”

WTH?

Lastly I told them that I had some clothes and souvenirs in my room, that I did NOT need them to clean my room, if they could please just get me new towels and throw out the trashes,
They didn’t do it.

Great staff and beautiful facility with hummingbirds and smart TV/waterfall showerheads. The most spacious bedroom we had in Cusco and they even provided boxed breakfast for early hikes/excursion and held our luggage after we checked out. Would book again in a heartbeat.

Highly recommend this hotel for a trip to Cusco.

A very clean and comfortable hotel in a great location in the historic centre of Lima. The decor of the hotel was nice. The staff were pleasant and helpful. On a hill, but that comes with staying in the historical area. Very nicely decorated breakfast restaurant...with the best breakfast in Peru! Everything close by, including a laundrette where you can get your laundry done in the same day. I thoroughly recommend this hotel for a business or tourist trip to Cusco.

Everything in the room was quite dusty—even inside all drawers. Breakfast was poor. We tried to run the Jacuzzi and dark mold-like chunks of stuff were coming into the water, so we could not use it the first night. Next day, someone came to clean and fix the Jacuzzi and we were told it was fixed. We had the same issue on day 2. We reported the problem again and everything repeated. Third day, there was someone else at the reception desk, who did not know about the issue. The person at the reception told us to use the room next door to take a shower (???? not sure why, we had a problem with a Jacuzzi and the other room didn’t have one). We were told the receptionist would talk to the owner about a partial refund, since the jacuzzi did not work. The day of our departure, we talked to the same woman and she said again she was going to follow up with the owner. (According the the research we did on the issue, it typically happens when jacuzzi is not used for a long time. During our multiple discussions with the front desk, it became clear that the room is not used very often, which explained both, the Jacuzzi issue and all the dust in the room.) After our return home, we spent 4 months tryin to get a partial refund for the jacuzzi not working at all—to no avail.

This was our favorite hotel of the four we booked during the trip to Lima, Cusco, and ollantaytambo. Very good staff, friendly, clean big room and bathroom, good location near shopping, laundry, and pharmacy. 24hr front desk helped out with any questions.

Hotel Illa is good place to stay in Cusco

Our hotel and stay was very good. Hotel offered pick up service at Cusco airport. Location was very good in city to walk to interesting sites. Staff were nice and helpful. Nice breakfast in the morning.

Self serve Coca leaf “Mate de coca” SIPER!

The people from the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Our room was confortable with heater and hot water. The breakfast buffet is pretty good and tasty. The mate de Coca really helped us with the altitude and it’s nice to have it on each floor!

We stayed at Illa on 3 different dates during our trip to Peru because we used it as our basecamp for Machu Picchu and Jungle visits. So our impression is for 3 stay.
Our room had heating, which is a must because Cusco is cold in winter
Excellent customer service
Very good breakfast
Hotel is very clean overall, only a smell of kerosen in the bathroom of our 2nd stay. No big issue as we kept bathroom door closed.
Hotel is updated, particularly bathroom that are very nice
Used the laundry service and it was cheap and100% ok

This hotel is amazing!! Room is super simple but the shower was so fancy! It had three sheer heads! The courtyard is gorgeous and the staff have been so helpful. Pablo took ten minutes to explain different things to do around the city. The breakfast is also lovely. The neighborhood is perfect also. Close to the plaza and had so much character and charm..

Charming small hotel. Tucked away near the main plaza but on a quiet street. Beautiful exotic wood detailing of balconies, etc. Tasty buffet breakfast with fresh squeezed juices, fruits, breads. Cheeses and meats. Will make eggs per request. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Hooked us up with a private tour guide, Alfredo who was wonderful! My only complaint is there was not enough storage space to unpack (3 twin room) and I pretty much lived out of my suitcase.

Great location in San Blas. Semi helpful staff.
Breakfast sucks. Any activity of other guests in the courtyard is very loud.
If you stay here I recommend Estonio and Manolo for breakfast, for your coffee and a great vibe. It’s just down the street from Illa.

Located in the historic section of Cusco - just steps fro San Blas plaza. Location was perfect; 5 minute walk to some of best restaurants and historic sites.

Great boutique hotel with lots of old world charm, yet rooms are completely restored and modern. We stayed in two different rooms as we left to go to Machu Picchu and returned. First category was Superior Room - which for the small incremental cost is by far worth it!

Staff couldn’t have been nicer nor more helpful. Stored our luggage when we left and it was waiting for us in our new room upon our return.

The hotel is split into 2 courtyards - the old hotel at the front and the newer part of the hotel at the rear. The front courtyard is a 2 story building while the rear is a 4 story building. Both are lovely but the rear rooms are quieter as they are away from reception.

It is certainly built into the city. The small streets makes it hard for cars to get back there and it is a incline to get to from the central square. It served its purpose I only used it to sleep. There is a bar next door and you can hear the music. They gave us a free bottle of wine for the inconvenience.

One of the nicest experiences we have ever had...

We just returned from the Illa Hotel. It was much better than expected. The staff was excellent, efficient and supportive. The rooms were quiet and clean. The shower was better than what we have at home. The included breakfast was delicious and helped start our day. When we took side trips we left our luggage and it was quite safe.
It is close to the center of town without the noise and there are great shops and restaurants nearby. Definitely worth it!

The Illa Hotel is a good, basic option for US travelers. It's in a relatively busy tourist area, just a few blocks (uphill) from the main square, through narrow streets filled with tourist shops, restaurants, and massage parlors. The 24-hour front desk is friendly, relatively helpful, and the rooms are clean. It's not fancy, but it's safe and fairly inexpensive.

They have a concierge on call, Maruja, whom we used to book our tours to Cusco City, Machu Picchu, and Sacred Valley. The tours she booked were good but not great. You might want to find a higher-quality tour company. Maruja recommended a private tour guide for Machu Picchu who was great, ask for \"Gloria\" to be your guide. The bus companies that helped us get there weren't quite as reliable, and the personal driver she arranged to drive us the 90 minutes from the train to the hotel was dangerous and scary. Opt for the safer tour bus.

The breakfast buffet is reasonable with a chef available to make egg dishes. Decent WiFi.
Our beds were painfully hard, and when we complained about them the front desk moved us to a different room for the rest of the nights without a problem.

Cheap and lousy hotel, with rude managment

I rarely, rarely write reviews (this may be my second one ever) but the rudeness, dishonesty, and general cheapness of this hotel frustrated me deeply. I was here with a team of colleagues, and we were all puzzled at the high ratings of this hotel (which is why we initially chose it), so it's important to set the record straight about how unpleasant the whole stay here was.

First of all, it gets quite cold in Cusco during the winter months, and this hotel offers no heating, only a cheap plug-in space heater which barely gets warm.

Secondly, the breakfast is pitiful: only a few slices of bread, some canned fruit, and mushy eggs which sit in a baking tray with a burnt bottom (releasing who knows what types of toxic chemicals into the food).

Thirdly, half of their rooms are on the first floor near the lobby, so every morning at 4am you have the whole Macchu Picchu tour crowd checking out and rolling their suitcases all around the courtyard and making tons of noise, so it's impossible to get a good night's sleep.

Finally, the internet connection is awful. I was in Cusco for work, and it was really important to have at a least a functioning connection. It barely worked in the lobby area and never worked in my 5th floor room, which was the most expensive room type (suite). Each day I complained but they would give me rude responses like \"just restart your computer\", which obviously didn't help.

Avoid this hotel all costs!

Great hotel, friendly staff, great location. The rooms were lovely and clean. Wifi was a little spotty in our second room, but that wasn't a huge issue for us. We were in Cusco for 3 nights, then went to Machu Picchu for a couple of nights. The hotel kept our extra luggage and had it delivered to our room when we returned. They arranged taxis to and from airport and awesome tour of Valle Sur. Would definitely consider staying here again if I'm ever back in the area.

Pros: Near main city attractions. Very nice and helpfull staff.
Cons: Although not too bad, you have to walk up a steep street on your way back to the hotel from the city center.
