Welcome the Best Western Solhem Hotel - the most price worthy hotel in Visby, located outside the famous 12th century city wall in the midst of a beautiful park known as 'Palissadparken', just one step away from the city center of Visby. The beautiful harbor, the medieval town and Visby's many pubs and restaurants are all within walking distance, but not in any way interfere with the sense of calm surrounding the hotel.

Fair hotel but service needs improvement !!

The hotel is well located for the port and town, and it’s a solid Best Western, upper three stars in my view. Comfortable rooms of fair size, nice and modern. Obviously very clean rooms and all working like in Sweden.

But there were several problems with the service. For checkin there was a long line and only one lady at the desk, who had trouble finding my booking (the self checkin machine didn’t work). Usually there was one person at the desk and sometimes nobody.

The worst thing is that when we asked what time breakfast starts, the lady said 6:30 am. So as we had a ferry to catch, she oriented as to order a packed breakfast. coming downstairs just before 6 am, we were shocked that breakfast was already being served. This means that because of the incorrect information from that lady, we missed breakfast, and I should get compensation for that.

On the other hand, when I told her that I had taken the souvenir sheep from the room to add to my bill, she did nothing and did not charge me…

The hotel was well placed just outside City walls. The room was OK but no hot water in sink although the shower was fine. Reception not very professional but breakfast very good. Room clean and comfortable but paint work on walls scuffed and could have been easily cleaned. All in all OK but not special.

It is a bit run down (hallway carpets and hardwood floors). Good breakfast. Curious that there was only a hand soap dispenser in the bathroom: no shampoo or conditioner. We had to purchase them at the ICA nearby.

Weird start but otherwise fine

They tried to take 200 kr more than promised in the booking and then thought we had a dog staying with us (which then would cost 200 i assume?) but they corrected it when I showed the booking details in the app. The rest of the stay was good. 👍

Nice location for an overnight in Visby

Friendly helpful staff at reception. If you get there in time free parking right outside. If you come later, a fee for guarded p in the backyard. Got a room in a separate house with a garden. It has plenty of tables and chairs for guests. If weather allows you can have breakfast on the terrace outside. Hotel is right at the medieval wall around Visby.

Fantastic breakfast with a view

The Pros:
1. location, location, location! An easy if uphill walk from the ferry terminal, across the street from the medieval walls, and a fantastic view down to the water.
2. The breakfast! Wow! All the usual continental fixings plus some really lovely surprises: coconut and chia seed pudding, mango/coconut/curry salad, and more
3. Sparkling clean

The cons:
1. The water pressure is a little low but nothing unexpected from an older building
2. The rooms are slightly dated/oddly decorated but again nothing unexpected or off-putting
3. Yeah, there aren’t many - it was a stretch to find two!

Great location!

Great location, helpful staff and a very comfortable extra bed in the room. Other hotels only offer cots or pull out sofas but this was a very comfortable way to share a room with my parents without suffering through the night.

Reasonable price, convenient location

The hotel is very close to the pier, when walking downhill. When going there by shortcut, it is quite a walk if you have luggage. It is in central location though, with many restaurants nearby. The room is equipped with a microwave which is excellent for budget travellers! The surrounding area is peaceful and convenient to everywhere.

Feels a bit like a home.

This a lovely hotel with a homely feel to it. When you leave the ferry, take the path across the road up the hill, then left, and up again (it's a small hill, 10 min walk max). I got a little lost as google maps wasn't quite right about the ferry terminal location. The hotel is right beside the old town wall and a 5 minute walk to the centre of the old town. The breakfast was large with more than enough to choose from. Most rooms come with a view and is a very quiet area.

Right outside city wall. Walking from hotel to anywhere in Visby was easy. Our room had view of sea and ferry terminal. Room was tight for 3 adults but we managed. Friendmy staff. Hotel books 1 or 2 bus groups a day so breakfast can be very crowded.

Sängarna gled väldigt lätt isär från varandra och ut från väggen, båda delarna irriterande och borde vara lätt att åtgärda.

Vi bodde i rum 225 utanför huvudbyggnaden, och tyvärr var upplevelsen inte särskilt bra. Det fanns ingen belysning utanför huset på kvällarna, vilket kändes både obekvämt och otryggt. Rummet saknade AC och ventilationen var dålig. Det dök upp många insekter och det var fullt av spindelnät. Vi hade förväntat oss bättre standard.

Just as Visby is an ideal place for a relaxing weekend, the hotel is quiet, clean and very well located, just a 5-minute walk from the town centre and harbour (just be aware that the climb up to the hotel can be a good exercise for the legs).
The staff were very welcoming and showed a great deal of attention to helping me check in late and make my stay a pleasant one.
I also found the breakfast delicious and wide-ranging.

Trevlig boende i bra läge. Tydlig information när man skulle ha sen incheckning. God frukost. Lite tråkigt att vi fick dubbelsängar när vi bokade enkelsängar.

Lovely old house just outside the town walls with views down the hill towards the sea. A working option for those on a budget. Relatively quiet, since on the opposite end of the town from all the action. Slow service, especially in the breakfast room. Periodically staff at reception with no ability to use the customer register! Constant apologies of course, but nothing changed much during my 4 day stay. No chance for early arrival/late check out. Understandable perhaps (absolute peak tourist season) but would be good to include this policy in the pre-arrival info that was a bit outdated in both appearance and content in other respects as well.

Nära Söderport precis utanför muren

Vi uppskattade att det fanns ett litet pentry på rummet. Det var dessutom rymligt och bra. Det var nära att gå till Adelgatan innanför muren, men lätt att ta sig till hotellet som ju låg precis utanför muren. Parkeringen på gården var trång och dyr (175 kr/dygn), men där fanns alltid plats. Det fanns sällan någon ledig plats på gratispakeringen ute på gatan.

Fint hotell, trevlig och tillmötesgående och hjälpsam personal, trevlig frukost. Fin lounge.
Överlag jättefint och perfekt städat men dagen innan avresa var det lite slarvigt, odiskade glas, inget påfyllt toalettpapper osv.
Rummet låg på bottenplan. Iom att vi inte ville ha fönster öppet på natten blev det lite kvavt varma dagar även om det fanns en bordsfläkt.
Men hotellet är jättefint, perfekt läge och skulle absolut kunna tänka mig att bo där igen.
