It was great to explore the ruins so near by along with the botanical garden. The staff was so nice, Margta was so helpful with parking, maps and places to go see around the island. We stayed in the basement room with the sauna and it was a fun experience with relaxing at the end of our tour days. Room was clean and comfortable with everything we needed.

This place is terrific. If I were to come back to Visby I would want to stay here again. The location is excellent. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They helped us when we were late for our dinner reservation. The staff will even park your car as the parking spaces are tight as one would expect in an old walled city. The breakfast was fantastic the best we had in Sweden.

Charming stay with warm staff and cozy design

We had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us warmly with a smile and made us feel genuinely welcome. Their kindness and hospitality really set the tone for our visit.

Our room was on the basement level, but it was very quiet and had clearly been recently renovated. Everything was spotless and tastefully designed. The bed was large and comfortable, the TV was big, and there was even a private sauna — a luxurious and relaxing bonus. The cute wallpaper added to the cozy, elegant feel.

My wife especially loved the room. She kept saying, “I want to stay another night,” and “Next time, we must stay here again.” That’s how much we enjoyed it.

The courtyard was another lovely touch. Peaceful and well-kept, it offered biscuits and coffee upon arrival. We sat there and enjoyed a calm, elegant moment — the perfect start to our stay.

Breakfast was served in a bright, beautiful room with a nice view. The selection was simple but included everything we needed, and we were completely satisfied.

We also fell in love with the charming streets of Gotland. It’s a place we’d love to return to, and when we do, we’ll definitely stay at this hotel again. Comfort, design, and heartfelt service made this visit truly memorable.

This hotel was magical! Slightly away from the din of the main square, Hotell St. Clemens nonetheless feels extremely accessible and close to everything. We were a family of four wit h small children, and they were able to accommodate us by adding two small beds. The property is beautiful and is adjacent to the St. Clemens ruins, which makes this just about the most unique hotel I’ve been to. The breakfast spread and available fika all day in the garden was so pleasant. I hope to come back one day and stay again!

Had a wonderful 3 day/2 night stay in early May 2023 at the Hotell St. Clemens. Molly was a wonderful and incredibly attentive host. The property is in a great location in Visby just steps away from one of many ruined churches and the botanical garden, and a short walk away from the town center and the many restaurants and sites there. The rooms were fairly large and the beds were comfortable. One minor complaint is that it took us a while to figure out how to adjust the temperature in the room. Breakfasts were provided every morning in a nice setting and there are also courtyards for sitting, eating, and listening to the birds singing.

A very cosy hotel near the botanical garden, the church and \"stora torget\" with lots of restaurants and a supermarket. It's also neighboring a beautiful church ruin.

The staff at check in was very professional and service minded.

The breakfast buffet is nice, without warm food (boiled eggs are there) but lots of fresh fruit and really good bread.

If you're a company requiring two rooms, try to call and request room 11-12, then you'll have your own entrance to the rooms and can keep doors between rooms open, creating somewhat of a mini suite.

Stayed for 4 nights. Absolutely lovely hotel! The hotel personnel were very friendly and made this stay special. The hotel itself is 5 buildings dating from 1600’s but carefully renovated and beautifully decorated. We enjoyed the 2 courtyards where we were able to have breakfast. The room and bathroom were spotless. Will definitely choose this hotel next time.

The Hotell has a beautiful location adjacent to a cathedral ruin and the botanical garden in the heart of historic Visby. The experience for me was like an excellent bed and breakfast in the US, and quite different from a commercial hotel. The historic buildings, large room sizes with tasteful, modern decorating, and friendly staff made this a choice I have revisited annually for the past 5 years.

such a cut comfortable cottage (stayed in one of the little houses out back adjacent to the st. clemens church ruins). we got in late and though i never received the e-mail directives for check in there was a sign posted and we got in in no time. only gripe would be hotels.com wrongly implying that parking was free. it is not, it costs a separate fee and the lot is limited, it is best to reserve in advance. Anyhow the staff were super warm, the breakfast was delicious and generous, and the overall stay was perfect. would come again in a heartbeat.

A Lovely Home Away From Home in Visby

We loved our stay at Hotell St. Clemens. My wife and I visited with our five-month old baby and the staff were very accommodating to our needs. They put a nice baby crib and a kettle for our formula in our room without us having to ask. The hotel itself was very charming and the breakfast buffet was wonderful, and it was located right in the heart of Visby which made getting around quite easy. We also got some good recommendations for baby friendly food venues around the old town. This was our first trip out together as a family and the hotel helped to make it memorable and quite painless which we really appreciated. We'll make sure to stay here again should we come back to Visby!

It was a very enjoyable and happy holiday in Visby. The hotel we stayed was very convenient and easy accessible by walking to the Visby wall, Cathedral, town square and shopping street. Hotel has very comfortable tea time area to seat around and relax. Hotel staff especially Menette and Carl were superb. Very helpful friendly and kind. Even local on the street were very helpful. Menette and Carl took all the effort in helping us to get rented car and gone through the whole map with us. Visby is only easy to move around to different attractions and places of interest by car. Nice hotel very near to town. The front-desk staff is very friendly and helpful. Signing up for parking in advance is essential -- and having that parking is a real plus. The room I had was simply furnished and comfortable -- although the dormers made it awkward walking around.

Great place to stay in Visby - near shops & shore

I was there to attend an academic conference at the Gotland campus of Uppsala University. It was a short walk to campus, to the ferry, and you could even walk to the airport if the weather was nice. Great place to stay: friendly staff, wonderful Swedish breakfast, very welcoming and interesting place.

Amazing and charming little hotel in the heart of Visby. The front desk was amazing and the free breakfast was delicious! Also the rooms were very cute, clean and comfortable. The greatest part is that the hotel is literally connected to this gorgeous ruin, and you can go sit and have tea there!

As part of a 3 week Scandinavian getaway I decided to spend a couple of days in Visby. I thought it might be a bit less crowded as I was visiting the last week of October. However there was a big motorcycle race that weekend so the ferry, hotels and restaurants were all quite busy.

This worked in my favor as they had originally said they would make a box lunch for me for Saturday as the 7:15 ferry schedule would not allow me to eat before I had to leave for the harbor. But as almost every other room had motorcycle people they decided to open breakfast 1/2 hour early so I could either eat there or make sandwiches to go.

Best hotel choice within Visby's city walls.

The hotel is wonderfully located right next or better within one of the oldest church ruins of Visby, the St. Clemens Church ruin.
Perfect stay for a romantic get away.
The church is used until today's days for wedding parties.
As hotel guests, you are permitted to get into the church ruin in the night,
to dance with your loved one under open skies within the historic church walls.
Breathtaking experience.
The stuff is extremely friendly, all rooms are very nice and very tastefully equipped.
Our two nights stay was the highlight of our 2 weeks round trip trough Sweden.
We definitely WILL return to have another dance at night time, within the old church ruin.

From the first greeting at the front desk, I knew this was going to be a great experience. Warm, welcoming, great facility, incredible location (with its own medieval church ruin just steps from the lobby), nice breakfast buffet, any & all advice about restaurants, museums, all the way to the cab to the airport at the end of our too-short stay. I wouldn't consider anywhere else.

My husband and I loved this hotel, it was so picturesque and conveinient (within walking distance to everything in Visby, Gotland, Sweden, we wanted to see). The hotel staff were very cheerful, informed, friendly and helpful. Our only problem was the very low ceiling in the attic room we had, it did make it a bit awkard for my tall husband. Altogether we had a really good little rest from our travels in Norway and Sweden (coming from Australia).

Hotell St Clemens was really a nice hotel. The building is a old building but very charming. The rooms are very charming also, the room of the 2nd floor has a opening on the roof that you can see the sky, and I liked that.Bathrooms very clean. Nice breakfast. The location is very nice, it is on the side of the ruins of St Clemens church. Near the Catedral.
The best was the staff, they were very friendly, they indicated the best places to visit, the good restaurants. And when the staff are so friendly you really feel at home.
I really had a good time in Visby because I stayed in Hotell St Clemens.

The people running the hotel were outstanding! From the moment our taxi arrived they accommodated our every need. Our room was ready and waiting for us. They arranged car rental, taxis,recommended restaurants and even loaned us a car seat for the baby. I was in Gotland doing genealogy and they even introduced me to another guest who was on a genealogical trip to the same town where my family is from. I can't say enough about how pleasant they were to work with, always greeting us with a smile and a hello. The hotel was centrally located in the Old Town and made for a very picturesque stay. Breakfast was delicious! Loved the whole stay.

Hotell St Clemens - Exceptional service

Visby, being a medieval town, brought about no surprise that the hotel was old. Possibly, the only complaint that I have was that the shower was too small. The overall size of the medium-sized room that I got was alright for two people and the room was clean.
What I loved about this hotel was its exceptional service. The receptionists went all out to recommend things to do, even helping us to get a cheap last minute car rental to Faro, which I appreciated deeply. On our last day, as our ferry departed early at 7:05, which was earlier than the stipulated breakfast time, the receptionist prepared us a hearty takeaway breakfast comprising a sandwich, apple, yogurt and juice at no extra charge.
I would definitely return if visiting Visby again.

The place was extremely nice, as you have access to the garden that gives on the church ruin. The room was compact but clean and practical and the bathroom was great.
We did not try the breakfast as we left too early but we got a voucher for a breakfast on the ferry. We had a fika in the hotel and it was really good.
There is no elevator for the room upstairs, but they also have rooms on the ground floor if needed.
Great advice from the reception on what to do in Visby.

1階のフロントにはスウェーデンらしく、FIKAが用意されていて、いつでもコーヒーや紅茶、クロワッサンなどを楽しむことができます。
部屋もヴィスビーに良く似合う可愛らしさで、天窓がついていたのも良い点でした。
朝食のニシンのマリネは2種類あり、どちらも大変美味しかったです。また、ゴットランド産蜂蜜や珍しいウーロンスパークリングティーもあり、朝食が楽しみでした。
またぜひ宿泊したいホテルです！

Mycket charmigt hotell med trevlig personal som alltid var hjälpsamma. Speciellt var det superfin frukost som även fixades när vi skulle resa tidigt. Lördagsfika i trädgården uppskattades mycket. Stort plus med närheten till allt, morgonbad, restauranger och sevärdheter. Vi bodde i ” skomakarhuset”😊

Nr1. Välkomnandet i receptionen va absolut ett av dom bästa vi fått.
Nr2. Vårt bokade rum saknade termostat och bara på grund av detta vart vi uppgraderade.
Nr3. Rummet vi fick va helt otroligt med bastu osv.

Men den absolut bösta upplevelsen va kvinnan i receptionen, hon förgyllde och sålde in vår upplevelse till 100%
