Stayed for 10 days and glad we found this place. We aren’t familiar with Tokyo but we would like to be close to the city and walking distance with some areas that we like to visit and this place was perfect. Its an old building but its well maintained. Clean and they gave you fresh towels everyday, and clean the rooms whenever you asks for it. The room was enough for my husband and I. We love the place, and would be coming back the next time we will visit Tokyo.

The hotel is quite old. There is a flight of stairs from the hotel entrance to the lobby. Guests must carry their luggage up the stairs because there are no elevators or escalators from the entrance to the lobby. Beware if you have heavy luggage. There is a strong damp and moldy smell when I enter the room, especially in the closet area. I suppose this is because sunlight does not reach that area of the room and the hotel is old. Other than this, the hotel is ok.

This is a great property for exploring the surrounding neighborhoods of Shinjuku, Harajuku, and even Shibuya. Shin-okubo station is just 2 blocks away and a Don Quijote is literally next door.

The property itself is in decent condition with a single elevator and adequate amenities. It's fairly clean overall but you'll find some dust in areas if you're on the tall side. We were on an upper floor with nice city views but no ability to open the window. Note that the main entrance is on the 2nd floor and so you'll need to lug yourself and your luggage there before being able to access the elevator.

The room had neither a safe nor a microwave, but did have a fridge and even a room/fabric freshener. The water pressure was mediocre as is the internet speed - fine for browsing but with relatively high ping if you're e-gaming.

Despite the nitpicks, the place is a great value for the price in a really convenient location if all you're looking for is a place to put your bags and sleep.

Area is very close to Metro station and many activities. Bathroom out of the 80s, but everything works fine, blast from the past. Comfortable pillows and bed. Just enough space for luggage. The guest lounge is more of just a room to microwave your food so that's all we used it for. After the stairs to get to check in there is an elevator so it helps. I would stay here again.

Everything at this small hotel was OK. The best feature is its location -- I wanted to stay in Shin Okubo and that's where it is. My room was large by Tokyo standards and included a fridge and desk. The overall feel is \"budget,\" but I didn't stay in SO in order to spend a lot of time in the room, so I don't really care that it wasn't five star. Noise level was not bad, esp considering that almost every room is close to the elevator.

This hotel is located within a 1-2 min walk from a metro station which gives good access to everything you want to see in Tokyo. The staff were friendly and helpful and the WiFi was excellent too. The room was a little short on space for 3 people and cases but it wasn't a massive problem. Would recommend to others visiting Tokyo.

This is really in a very central part of Tokyo.I have read on here that they have a problem with the steps.You do have to walk up to desk about 12 steps.Staff would help if needed.Also read about smoke smell it is smoke free.They have room set aside for smoking.There are about two dozen restaurants close and that you do smell.AC was awesome I was just there and it was hot out and cold in room.Some complained about breakfast it is very simple and it is all they serve.One egg,toast,drink,salad,bacon and sausage for 500 yen very reasonable.It is dated but for the price was perfect.Rooms size is adequate,

This was a great hotel to stay in, primary due to the price for its location. It’s smack bang in the middle of Shin Okubo, only a few minutes walk from the station. It’s a busy, bustling area with a lot of shops and restaurants. My one warning would be that the reception for this hotel is up a flight of stairs, with no other access point. This was fine for me, but my friend had a broken leg, and struggled to get up and down. Otherwise, it was a perfect stay. The room and bed both seemed very large compared to other Tokyo hotels, we had a small fridge, and the bathroom was also larger than previous hotels we had stayed in.

We wanted the bare minimum on our trip of Asia while we were in Tokyo because we knew this was going to be the most expensive part of the trip and that is what we got. There was three of us ( wife, mother in law and me) and we got two beds (a double and a single) and a clean room. Breakfast was standard American breakfast. Bathroom was double the size of a port-a-John but clean. All in all we got what was expected and we did not waste anytime getting out of the room and seeing Tokyo!!

The hotel is very close to shin-Okubo train station so getting around Tokyo is pretty easy. There’s a lot of restaurants and mini stores around the hotel. One thing the hotel didn’t have is an escalator or elevator from street level to the lobby. You would have to carry your baggage’s up the stairs. From the lobby, they have an elevator to all the rooms. The room when we arrived are clean and well kept. However, the bathroom is pretty small. So only one person could go in at a time. The bed was a bit too firm for me. It would have been nice if the hotel made the bed a bit more soft. I didn’t like waking up with a little discomfort on my neck. But staff are friendly and very courteous. Check out time is at 10am. Since our flight was not until midnight, the hotel manager was nice enough to let us leave our baggages in the hotel until 6pm so we could still do last minute sightseeing and shopping.

the location is super good. online 5 min from JR Yamanato Line ( Shin Okubo Station). around, there are many local restaurants and shops.

Very easy to spot the hotel. From shin okubo station exit, take a look on left side and we will spot it on right side. red billboard for hotel name is easy to find.

To reach the lobby, we need to take a stairs which is we need to carry our luggages by own using stairs. There is only 1 lift up to each room's floor.
Simple breakfast (a toast, sunny egg, sasusage, bacon in a plate, and alao small bowl of salad) is provided if we book include breakfast.

Hotel staff can speak English clearly.

Check in time in hotel is start 3pm. and if we arrive hotel early, hotel allows us to keep the luggages without any charge.
Check out time is 10am and if we request late check out, we need to pay ¥1000 per hour.

The hotel is located 5 minutes from Shin Okubo station which is a JR station and on the yamanote loop line. The hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating. The room gets cleaned everyday, unless you leave the do not disturb sign out they will come in after one knock. Breakfast isn't a buffet, it's a simple \"American breakfast\". I would stay here again, I have no major complaints.

A great Hotel in a perfect location

I've stayed here three times and I really like this Hotel. It might not be the most luxurious hotel but it has everything I need - the staff are very pleasant and the hotel is clean, tidy and safe with great WiFi. It's also in the most perfect location for a stay in Tokyo, situated in the Okubo area of Shinjuku and just a 2 minute walk from the small Shin-Okubo train station. The train station is on the circular JR 'Yamanote' line, making access to the many sights of Tokyo really easy.

Very small bathroom, plain room with limited amenities. There is a ”guest lounge” on the top floor, actually this is a grim room for smokers, but the only source of a vending machine. The area is awash with lower end shops and restaurants. The reception is up a flight of steep stairs but there is a lift from there.

Unhelpful rude staff together with unclean hotel.

Reception staff were unhelpful and rude, mainly the night staff who was at the reception on the July 5th night. There is no facility in the hotel like tea or coffee or even kettle for hot water. Very narrow and tiny hotel with narrow rooms. We have booked a room for 4 people and the room is just enough for two. We had to put our luggage on top of other. Even though the room was non smoking room, the room was full of cigarette smell. Bed cover, towels were not clean. Attached toilet/shower room have not been cleaned for long time. I can see previous guests leftover stuff in the room and bathroom. I reported to the reception and the reply was \"i can't do anything about it\".

We were in Japan for two weeks and stayed in several hotel as we have been visiting may cities between Tokyo and Nagasaki. All the hotels had good facilities like complementary tea/coffee and clean rooms except Tokyo Plaza Hotel.

Avoid this hotel at any cost. Don't be fooled by the photos shown on the booking page.

3 Train Stations are only a few minutes walk.

Great location not far from Tokyo.
Reception is a set of stairs up not good if you have trouble or pain with your legs or knees or feet.
Ground floor is a local grocery store.
Restaurants are all lined up on the street.
You can pick a different one every meal cheap or expensive.
Big shopping malls are a few minutes walk at Shinjuku. Gyoen park not far where you can enjoy the Sakura or Cherry Blossoms during spring time.
The hotel itself is great enough for the price you are paying.You can opt for free breakfast but if you want something different there are places nearby to get them. Enjoy your stay.

Great location!

A basic functional room in the heart of \"Korean town\" as Shin-Okubo is known. Plenty of places to eat and shop as you exit the hotel. It is a less than 5-min walk to the train station, and access to the rest of Tokyo. So location is fantastic.
A small motel, clean enough and staff speaks sufficient English to communicate.
A note for persons with mobility issues - access to reception is up a flight of stairs, and we did not find a lift to it.

Hotel in a good location with reasonable price

Room is more spacious than what we expected. Surprisingly, there is a kettle in the room and a lounge with microwave and water dispenser, makes it very convenient for travelers who may not want to eat out all the times.

There are 2 rail lines close-by and only 10-15 minutes walk to Shinjuku. Very good location with reasonable price as long as you don't mind the stairs in front of the lobby as hotel is not on ground floor.

Hotel is not new but very well maintained. They are not using electronic cards for access. Instead, they use physical key. You need to leave your keys at reception desk if you leave the hotel. They use honest system when you ask for key to access your room. No security check, no further identification is requested, basically, they trust you are their guest with the correct room number. Could be a potential threat.
