Lorenzo and Laura were helpful and pleasant throughout our stay. The restaurant offered amazing dining options with a beautiful view of the Aragonese Castle. The breakfast menu offered a wonderful variety of food and drink. Sara and her staff were welcoming and a pleasure to talk to every morning. We truly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it.

The hotel has several 5 star rating points to it. The staff cannot be more helpful and the rooms are comfortable, well sized. The hotel itself is small enough that the staff get to know you and are as helpful as can be.
The negatives- the rooms are not sound proof - so ear plugs are needed and for some reason they charge 2EUR to rent pool towels. I've never been to a hotel where you pay for pool towels. They also don't tell you this when you check in so when you get to the pool, only then are you told, and you have to walk back up to reception.
Breakfast as basic but nice, service at breakfast always with a smile.
Cocktails round the pool were excellent, very reasonably priced and served quickly. The bar upstairs was also great, we didn't try the restaurant as wanted to venture into town at night which is beautiful.

So the property and staff were SUPER nice, it’s a beautiful hotel with beautiful rooms and great staff. They also offer a free 45 min private access to their spa. But there was one huge issue… I got insane amount of bed bug bites. When I complained, they looked but couldn’t see anything. I came back home and the doctor confirmed it is beg bugs… do what you want with this information. It sucked

rooms walls are paper thin. The balconies have a view but no privacy the curtains had to be kept shut all the time. we could hear the guy next door clearing his throat and cough every morning 6 am. and he snored at night. then a couple with kids and baby moved in and we could hear their conversation and their baby crying all night long. people from the top floor restaurant had direct view into our room. and balcony. overall a terrible place and not relaxing or romantic at all.

Room was good, clean and comfy. Cleaning staff were lovely. Breakfast terrible, coffee cold and weak and the all food served on sectioned airline style plates after ordering once from a menu. Tbe bits we could choose - cereal and jam seemed to have a lot of small ants crawling around. Bar or drinks not available during the day unless the pool bar happened to be open which didn’t seem to be a regular event. Spa was tired dirty and not functioning well. The lift seemed to have frequent memory loss - it seemed to forget that we’d pressed a button.
Finally, on arrival we were greeted by a receptionist who talked at us with so much information that we couldn’t take it all in!
Disappointing overall.

The hotel staff was extraordinary. From the restaurant staff to the breakfast crew, they met our every need with a smile.
The front desk helped us with tours, directions, reservations, ferry times and everything in between. We felt very valued and cared for.
The room was a bit small, but had an amazing view of the castle and a small balcony. Otherwise, the room was very well equipped with all we needed and nicely updated. We would definitely recommend the hotel to others.

Fantastic!

What a beautiful hotel and staff. The room's are modern and very clean. We stayed in a room overlooking the pool and view of the castle. Every morning waking up to a beautiful view. The bathroom was excellent with a really good shower that you really want to spend time in. All the hotel staff where fantastic, super friendly and extremely helpful. Vincento and Sarah thanks for everything, we will really miss you guys. Lorenzo on the reception, very helpful, friendly and always smiling. The pool are was beautiful and well kept. We also loved the location, tucked away in a quiet little street next to a beautiful park that you can walk around. Thank you everyone, our stay in Ischia was beautiful and you all contributed to that. I will definitely return.

A really well located hotel, we were given an upgrade to a sea view which was really appreciated. Even with the upgrade though our room was very small.
In our room we had 2 small milk portions which once used were not replaced.
The staff were all really polite and helpful, on our second day the staff didn’t get our breakfast right.
Guests have an exclusive 45 minute bookable slot in the spa but we felt it could do with a refresh -the jacuzzi was very hit and miss, and the showers didn’t function well.
There wasn’t anything particularly wrong with the hotel but we probably would stay there again if visiting Ischia - it just wasn’t really us maybe.

Excellent hotel with great amenities. Our room, although on the ground floor, seemed to have been renovated recently as it had a very modern feel to it (eg. open shower concept). Very comfortable bed and pillows and overall extremely spacious.
Breakfast is not your typical buffet but rather you choose from a menu. It definitely did not disappoint as you can choose whatever you want without any limitation on quantity. The possibility to book the spa area for yourself for 45 min was a great plus. Rooftop bar/restaurant has a great view of the castle, so make sure to go there for at least a drink. Overall, highly recommended!

Just returned from the most amazing 4 night break at this hotel. Everything was perfect I’d highly recommend it. The front of house staff were so helpful giving local information. Vincente the restaurant manager and Mario the bar/pool restaurant manager were brilliant - friendly and so professional and welcoming. Our superior double room was a good size and spotlessly clean thanks to the hardworking cleaning staff, who greeted us with a smile everyday.
We are about to book again for next year!

We loved our stay at this hotel! The front desk staff was helpful and friendly, they booked us a tour and helped us arrange transportation. We took advantage of the rooftop restaurant and bar as well as the pool, but we didn’t get the chance to utilize the spa because we had a busy schedule each day. You can easily walk to the beach as well as tons of restaurants and shops from this location. We would definitely stay here again!

The property is a 25 minute walk from the port. We wanted to see the area so we walked. It’s 10-15 minutes on the bus. It’s in ischia point in a quiet neighborhood, off the main drag but walkable to the castle, the beach and restaurants. Clean, great service, use of the spa. The breakfast choices were wonderful. I guess we paid when we booked but it was worth it, great staff, great food. Took the bus to negombo hot baths. Walked to a nearby beach. AC worked. Pool was great. Overall very nice and relaxing. Did not eat at rooftop restaurant. Did have a drink there.

There is disparity in the Superior Sea view rooms. The first one we had was very small with an awkward bathroom. After two nights they gave us a room change and the room was a little bigger and better with a better bathroom. The pool area was lovely and relaxing but the drink prices were almost twice what you’d pay right down at one of the beach bars. The staff was pleasant. The location was convenient to Ischia Ponto and about a 20 minute walk to the port.

A fantastic mini break in ischia. The hotel was perfect. We were slightly closer to the castle than the port which is what we wanted. Welcoming hotel with panoramic roof terrace.

This stunning tasteful decorated hotel is tucked away from the main road which runs between Ischia Porto and Ischia Ponte so is a very peaceful oasis. All the facilities to guests were first class. From the moment we arrived the front of house staff welcomed us so warmly and gave us recommendations for restaurants and made dinner reservations for us. Our room was on the lower ground floor with a spacious balcony containing pretty wrought iron table and chairs. We had the tasting menu of 8 courses on the hotel roof terrace one evening which was a wonderful experience, the food and the service was amazing, definitely recommended.

Just back from 5 days at this excellent hotel. Situated in a quiet rd next to a park, 5 mins to the old town, 20 mins to the port. Staff here are very friendly, and speak very good English. It appears the hotel has recently been renovated, all rooms and communial areas are clean and modern. Our standard room was spacious and had a view of the pool. Some of the rooms at the back have no view, so enquire further if this is important to you. Pool area is lovely, plenty of space and beautiful manicured plants, trees etc. Breakfast is vey good, plenty of choice. They will cook eggs at no xtra cost. We had omelettes every day. The hot buffet options were poor and coffee was just OK., but these were minor points. This hotel is an excellent option. If you book here you will not be disappointed. Ischia is a beautiful island, come here before the rest of the world discover it!

Amazing Hotel in Ischia, staff were very friendly and welcoming, the pool and spa was wondering and breakfast was an excellent experience. A 10 minute walk to the Ponte and bus #7 from the bus terminal in the port will bring you to your accommodation, the drop off point is bar Violette which is also a nice friendly bar for a drink in the evening.

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Durrueli . The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They were always smiling and ready to help. The location of the hotel is great. It is easily walkable to Ischia Porte and Ischia Ponte which makes seeing the sites super easy. The daily breakfast was amazing with plenty of choices including vegetarian and gluten free options. The spa area and treatments were also awesome. My one problem was with the noise level. the walls are very thin and I was easily disturbed in the morning, as I was on the ground floor and could hear everything that was happening in the lobby.

My daughter and I spent one night at Durruelli. Ischia is a wondelful magic place and this hotel does honour the setting. Sara is in charge of breakfast and she is the most genuine charming person we got to know during our trip. They offer all sorts of delicacies at breakfast and she is looking after everything to make it special. Really great breakfast on any standards. They also have a nice spa and a wonderful terrace. Staff changed promptly our room since I wanted it to be a twin room. The new room was bigger and with a nice view.

Can't fault this lovely hotel. Nice peaceful location yet close to many cafes, restaurants, sights and beaches.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming and during our stay always said hello and were polite and pleasant. Gave lots of information about the local area and how to get a taxi when leaving.
The hotel had great facilities and was always very tidy. Our room had a sea view and we had two large windows, one with a view of the sea and the other with a view of the castle.
I would recommend staying here if you are sightseeing or if you want a quiet relaxing break. Lovely lovely hotel, very glad we stayed there!

Let's start with the positives, which far outweigh the negatives.
Lovely staff. Very clean. Great location. Superb view from the rooftop bar and some rooms.
My fault for not reading the room description correctly, but our room did not have a balcony and was described as a 'Double Comfort Room'. It had a double bed, but it was hardly comfortable.
Really just a place to sleep and shower.
The temperature of the water in the pool was freezing. Hotel swimming pools are to be enjoyed, not endured.
If I stayed in Ischia again I would try another hotel and also read the room description properly.
I wish the staff and owners of Hotel Durrueli well as they are really nice.
Chambermaids do a great job.

A/C didn't work

Was a guest here from aug 1 to aug 4. Hotel was nice and the location was convenient. Too bad the a/c didn't work. We brought this to the staffs attention multiple times a day, they kept telling us the technician came in but couldn't do much about it. Long story short we spent the entire stay with 28 degrees Celsius in the room. Very uncomfortable considering it was the hottest heatwave italy had gotten in a while. Not much relief when it's 35 degrees out so keeping windows open would've been even worst. overall dissapointing and will not be coming back

Felt the hotel was overpriced and many of the rooms were really small (although ours was larger) There was a group of us there for a wedding. The drinks and food were also very expensive and I was not very happt to discover I had paid a lot more for the hotel than everyone else who was there with us.

This was our second stay at Villa Durruelli and it was just as good. Extremely clean and the service is excellent and although the rooms are quite small, most have wonderful views towards Castello Aragonese. The roof terrace is also a lovely space. It was not quite as peaceful as our previous visit due to a large wedding party but still a wonderful stay.

Rooms with beautiful views, excellent pool and surrounding area, exceptional food and service from the dining room but most of all the warmth of personal attention from staff in all areas. We have no hesitation in giving the highest recommendation and look forward to returning.

This hotel was in a great location...close to the port, castle and near the beach. The breakfast was good and the \"Beauty Farm\" was great and clean. I loved the Turkish Bath! My room however, smelled like mildew and the shower had black mold. The mold was all along the nozzle. I can't imagine what was inside and what the water was touching as it came out. There was also black mold on the handle. It was gross! My room was also close to reception so it was very loud. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay.

Beautiful views, staff and location.

A couples holiday for three days to discover Ischia for the first time. The hotel was extremely easy to find from arrival on the ferry at Cassomacciola port. We drove our own car to the hotel and could park easily. (It was November). The hotel was small and very friendly. The breakfast was very good with very helpful and friendly staff. Our room was beautiful because of the double aspect view. Oath windows offered views across the sea, one to the Gulf of Naples, and the other one which was a French window opening onto a small balcony with table and chairs which allowed us to enjoy beautiful views to the Castello Aragonese, We saw the most beautiful sunrise early one morning. This was a superior bedroom number 313. It was also easy to walk to Ischia Ponte to visit the Castello Aragonese and to Ischia Porto - both lovely towns, thriving with lots of cafes, shops and restaurants.

Our only criticism (the only one we could find!) was that our bed was not attached to the headboard. This meant that when we sat up I need bed to read or admire the views, the bed slipped away from the wall as it was no time attached. However, this is a small issue considering everything's else was so wonderful. We did not use the spa in the hotel, it the facilities looked very nice.

We had a double room on the ground floor with a view of the pool and stayed for two nights at the hotel. The room was very small and smelly. Be prepared for hearing your neighbours. WiFi connection in our room was good though. Overall, the hotel facilities - spa, outdoor pool, bar areas, restaurant, terrace - seemed to be fine and maintained. Views from the rooftop terrace are nice and we often had the whole terrace only for ourselves. The hotel offers aperitivo in the reception / bar area which we liked. The hotel staff was very welcoming and trying to help. The buffet breakfast offered a variety of warm food and cold cuts coupled with fresh fruit and sweets. Coffee is served by waiters and was of good quality. Yet, the restaurant staff did not seem to be in a hurry to have all items prepared for the start of the breakfast and were slow to replace empty trays with new food. All in all, the hotel is good yet with minor details to improve.

The hotel it was so bad so we couldn't spend there the 2 nights that we booked. They give us a room at the first floor after the first night we left to another hotel even though we payed the whole amount. The hotel should have 2 starts maximum. Bed is so bad, room so tiny, bathroom so tiny, everything old.

It was one of the worst hotel i have ever stayed in my whole life! In the breakfast the served expired cheese Philadelphia. I called the waiter and they apologize.

The only nice thing about the hotel is the terrace with beautiful view over the castle.

Nice hotel, friendly staff. The spa was lovely and the outdoor swimming pool also good. Canapés with drinks in the evening was excellent. Decent restaurant but you can eat out for a fraction of the price.

Bad was two single beds pushed together to make a double. Very uncomfortable.

Silly that a Hotel charges guests for bath robes and towels for its spa.

We loved every minute of our stay here. The staff are delightful and extremely helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. Our room was a superior room and had a lovely view of the sea and Castle from the balcony. The pool area was lovely for relaxing and the rooftop bar was enchanting in the evening.

Relaxing hotel close to everything you need.

A perfect place to relax by the pool, sit on the roof terrace in the evening and use as a base for seeing Ischia and the surrounding islands. The staff are very helpful and friendly too. Breakfast is taken in an outside area surrounded by olive trees and geraniums - a wonderful start to the day.

Smart choice for location

We guessed where to stay for location on Ischia and guessed right! This place is half way between Ischia town and Ischia Ponte - two of the most interesting areas on the island - and you can walk to both places from the hotel. For everywhere, there is Ischia's excellent bus service which is cheap, cheerful and frequent (and runs very late).

Great Hotel.... even for March stay in Ischia

Great hotel. Breakfast was AMAZING. Amazing servers, cappuccinos are also included. Spa was really lovely and clean. No one was even there so it was private. Room is small, but they had upgraded us to give us a lovely view of the sea. Beautiful pool area, very well manicured. Since it was still cold, we could not take advantage of the pool or solarium. The one major downside is the bathroom. It is extremely tiny and the door opens up to hit the toilet seat. It was impossible to have more than one person in the bathroom. Dining room is very lovely and spa-like. We did not try the food at the hotel but I am sure the food is top notch.

Great hotel but disappointing 'beach'

We loved Villa Durrueli - it feels calm, spotlessly clean, with very friendly and helpful staff. The swimming pool is wonderful. Our only quibble is with the claim that it has a very nearby 'private beach'. Bagna Medusa is quite a hike from the hotel, is hardly more than a crowded platform, and charges a 'reduced' rate of eight euros per person. Very disappointing indeed. If the beach had not been included in the hotel features, we'd have been quite happy with all the good things it offers.

Not much sleep for 4 star hotel

Hotel location and facilities are good, but badly let down by quality of rooms, they are clean but very hard beds and noisy air con. We were also a family of four who booked a quadruple comfort room, it was tiny we were lined up literally side by side. We stayed all overall Italy in cheaper hotels and this was by far the worst family room.

Friendly hotel good location

Hotel was small and friendly. There were always Sun beds. Lots of choice for breakfast and other guests said dinner excellent. The rooms however were very small with not much wardrobe space. The location whilst quiet was just a short walk from both the castle end of the island and the port. We can wait to return.

Relaxing Honeymoon Delight

We started to relax the moment we got inside the hotel as the reception staff made you feel very welcome and were fantastic at explaining what the hotel offers. We were shown to our room, and then given a quick tour of the facilities. This was great as you knew straight away how to get to the resturant, pool, well being area etc..
The whole week we were there was a delight, as the room was kept spotlessly clean, the food was terrific and the staff were brilliant.
We had one of the treatments that is offered in the hotel and we had a hot stone massage, which was carried out really well and had us well and truely relaxed for the rest of the day.
The views from the roof garden when enjoying the evening appetiserd is superb, over looking the sea and the Castle Arogonese.

Nice hotel for middle aged or older couples

Stayed with my sister for a few days in late June. Hotel is mostly filled with couples aged 60-80 from Britain. A very laid back, slow environment. They try really hard to accommodate you. Sleepy hotel, \"spa\" isn't great, a distance from the beach. They don't provide free beach/spa/pool towels. Drinks are really pricey (between 6-12 euros a piece) and they don't tell you how much they cost before you sign for them.

Outstanding family vacation!!!

Amazing - really we had a wonderful stay - the entire staff was very kind, accommodating, helpful, cheerful and simply nice! This is not a hotel catering to children but we were very pleased.

As we were coming as a family, we read some random review that the pool was loud and I was concerned- it perhaps a one off case the entire experience was calm, we had a wonderful balcony, the rooms was cleaned and fresh when we returned. The dining experience breakfast and dinners was excellent, friendly reception and bar staff.

Overall, this is one of the best holidays we have had much in part to the hotel staff and their professionalism.

Equivalent of a best western

My wife and I recently stayed for 3 nights at Villa Durrurli. If you are paying around $100 a night this hotel is fine. The expectation that it is a resort and spa should be dismissed immediately. They have a pool but do not provide towels unless you pay per towel per day. The hotel is also poorly managed with the staff doing what they can to help but overall the individual staff members who are polite do not make up for the hotel flaws. The hotel is also dirty with mold growing all over the bathroom.

Nice stay in quaint hotel!

We had a very pleasant stay. The rooms and shower are a bit small but, everything else was great! The hotel was very clean, the front desk and help were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the outdoor swimming pool is not heated (some hotels/spas have heated pools) but, the indoor pool and steam room was nice. This hotel is centrally located between two towns and next to a park that was refreshing to walk through and was a short cut to one downtown shopping area. The breakfast area was very nice with many fruits, breads, and juice/coffee/teas. We enjoyed our stay!

Very nice hotel

The hotel and staff were very very good. However there are i or 2 changes that could make it even better. The bathroom in the standard room was very small and there was no where to place toiletries etc. Also immediately the 1st October came there was no eating breakfast on the terrace. My opinion on this that most tourists go abroad for the weather especially coming from the UK.

great location, friendly staff - awful hotel

The hotel was in a great location, very close to the the old town and the harbour so easy to walk around and see sights and evening wanders etc. The room was awful, the bed was the hardest bed I'd ever slept on (think of an ironing board) and the room was disgusting. It hadn't even been cleaned eg: the shower had grime on the walls and dead bugs in the corners, I felt like I needed to wear shoes to shower. It's a shame as the hotel had potential and the staff are friendly enough. I wouldn't recommend it for the price at all.

Really friendly and helpful staff. Pretty pool with plenty of loungers and spa facilities. Good location and views. As long as you don't mind the slightly laborious trek from Naples airport I would guess you couldn't find a nicer spot in Italy to spend a few days relaxing.

Beautiful Hotel on a Beautiful Island

The whole experience with Villa Durrueli, was good, from making the reservation to the arrival, to the say and departure. The hotel is crisp, clean and modern. I think it was recently renovated and updated. The grounds are well kept and it seems that the whole hotel is scrubbed clean everyday.

The rooms are small, but who spends a lot of time in the room when you are in Italy. We were a family of four, two adults and two teens, and we had to book two rooms, which was less expensive than booking the family style room.

While the facilities are good, it was the staff that made the whole stay worthwhile. They are lovely and a pleasure to deal with; always happy to help and for a conversation. The full breakfast, which was included, was great. I am willing to say it is probably the best breakfast I have had in a hotel in the past ten years. We never ate in the restaurant for dinner, but our friends who did said it was very good and they choose to eat there a few times. After the first day the wait staff remembered our coffee order (dopio machiatto) and brought them to the table when we sat down. That was a very nice touch and made us feel special.

Nice pool, clean and clear and really important when its 30C and sunny everyday. The pool side bar served good food and nice drinks.

Nice pool and spar areas but rooms too small and beds very uncomfortable.
Top floor rooms badly affected by having concrete roof deck and bar above premium guest rooms resulting chair scraping and banging late into the early hours of morning to say nothing of the full on loud music making conversation or sleep impossible; followed up by early arrival of loud Vespa's in the morning and clanging of church bells just outside.

Great Spa Hotel, but some rooms are very noisy...

The hotel is a very nice building. Not too far from Ischia Porto (the main harbor) and close to Ischia Ponte (where the Aragonesi Castle is located), a cosy town with some very nice restaurants. The Spa area of the hotel (a small swimming pool with warm water, steam room and kneipp path) and the outdoor swimming pool are great. You can have a decent continental breakfast in the terrace. The only one problem is that some rooms (the cheapest ones) are very noisy and you can hear everything happening in the rooms around. However the relationship between price and quality is pretty high, but only during the week. During weekends the prices are pretty high and it's not worth it.
