Beautiful hotel,spacious room and bathroom, excellent bedding, welcoming staff.

We particularly enjoyed the swimming pool which was bigger than what we thought based on the pictures.

The courtyard is lovely spacious.

As onsite Parking was full when we checked in, the hotel lent us a discount card for a nearby parking which worked fine for us. Book parking ahead if you prefer to avoid walking.

If I had one recommendation to make would be for the hotel to find a solution for guests “reserving” sunbeds. In the end, we could not use them.

Will definitely return to this beautiful place

We received a friendly welcome. We arrived early but were able to leave our bags and go and explore the fabulous walled city. We had room 29 which was on the 1st floor and overlooked the beautiful garden. We enjoyed a swim in the pool and a dip in the jacuzzi. Dinner was well presented a very tasty. Great breakfast. The bedroom was very spacious and comfortable. The decor throughout was very tasteful and right for place.

Great hotel. really enjoyed our stay.

Great hotel, center of the town, easy walking distance to everything. Would highly recommend this hotel, the pool is great the room are great. We stayed for two nights and only had dinner one of the nights, the food was really tasty and generous. Great team that work on service, really enjoyed our stay.

We were extremely disappointed with our experience, especially considering this is supposedly a 5-star hotel. First, no parking support was offered by staff other than to point to a map, then after we figured out our own parking and dragged our luggage in from a decent distance, the concierge and other staff watched us walk in, continued their chat, and no one offered help. No one showed us to our room nor showed us how to use the unintuitive lock system for the door. When we tried to access the hotel wifi, neither my partner nor I could access it (despite having had no prior issues at other hotels), and the concierge merely shrugged when we asked for assistance. In our room, the TV would turn on by itself, and when we tried to use it, it froze and rebooted itself every 10-40 seconds. The shower handle fell off when touched. We brought these concerns to our concierge, and again, he merely shrugged and said we could just unplug the TV. A lot of other minor complaints that would matter less if this hotel were not representing itself as 5-star quality: instant coffee only, small slippers that don't fit average men's feet, no phone in the room to call reception, heated towel rack did not work, nowhere to put shampoo bottles or soap in the shower other than the floor. We have enjoyed our stays at far less expensive hotels with friendly and helpful staff. Pretentiousness is not the same as 5-star quality.

We love going to Villa Mazarin! The people are so friendly! The rooms charming! The service superb! We have gone numerous times and many staff the same so feels like home! Aires mort is such a quaint place with great restaurants and so easy to get around! Don’t forget to ask for a parking spot in the garage ! Parking is tough there!

perfect stay

There is no better hotel in Camargue. In a quiet corner of the citadel, within easy walking distance of all shops and cafes and restaurants as well as a quick exit onto the salt marshes and biking trails.
Aigues mortes is definitely the best place to be in Camargue and the villa Mazarin is a wonderful property to experience the medieval occitan experience.

I loved the historic architecture and features, mixed with typically french decor, all done to the highest standard. As soon as we arrived it smelt of polish, and everywhere was spotless. The added bonus was the amazing gym and spa - the fluffy white dressing gowns, slippers, and comfortable bedding. A lovely luxurious stay, which was needed after a week on a barging holiday!
Would thoroughly recommend to all my friends, especially those who love all that is French. Aigues Mortes is a stunning place to visit all round.

The location and décor of this hotel is superb. Staying in the Villa Mazarin the history and culture of this medieval walled town surrounds you. The staff were very friendly and informative and we were particularly impressed with Laurent.

The only negative was the breakfast which was poor and grossly overcharged

Amazing value for money!! Beautiful hotel within the walled city of Aigues-Mortes in the heart of the Camargue. A few minutes walking distance from the main square / restaurants & little shopping streets . The unique pink water of the Camargue salt marshes is right outside the city walls.

It’s a great base to use to visit other cities in the area too if you have a car - Arles / Nimes / Montpellier are all less than an hours drive away. Avignon is just over an hour.

The rooms are spacious, as are the bathrooms with baby soft towels & Clarins toiletries 💙;) There’s a covered pool which opens to the outside, where there’s a pretty & peaceful garden/ courtyard with lounge seating. Sauna, hamam & decent size gym - all accessible until midnight. Gourmet restaurant on site. Excellent dinner. We planned on staying 2 nights but we stayed 4 - ...very relaxing & luxurious for a super price

Working Air Conditioning Would Have Made It Great

This is a lovely facility in a really beautiful relatively less touristic area. We enjoyed exploring the walled town of Aigues Mortes with its fascinating history as a launching point for the crusades.The Villa is beautifully maintained and we really enjoyed the service team especially the wry wit of David the relocated New Yorker who mans the Reception desk. Our room (junior suite) was lovely and would have been perfect but for the fact that there was no A/C during our stay which really detracted from our comfort. Restaurant was also very good. Just the prematurely turned off A/C really annoyed us.

No warn much less HOT water. How often has the room been rented knowing hot water was not supplied. Walk in shower totally cold. Tub by shower and sinks just a tiny hint of warmth. I requested desk to come in next day to see if something could be done. Zero follow up and morning desk clerk knew nothing about it.

We stayed during a hot July. The hotel was quiet, cool and comfortable. The room we stayed in was very large, with a modern large bathroom. The staff were very helpful and responsive, without being intrusive. We dined there twice and the chef is suburb.

A beautiful garden and an under cover pool.
Very few downsides - no lift but the hotel staff portered the cases. Dinner a little expensive but not for the quality of the food.

Fantastic gem of a hotel, with huge rooms (prestige) and excellent facilities. Definitely an old world feel, but with many up to date touches. I pre-booked dinner and parking in their carpark, which worked well and the meal was truly excellent. I hope to return with more time and family.

We were greeted by the owner who is a very nice New Yorker who moved to France 17 years ago. The room was large and airy with a big bathroom. A large comfortable bed, air conditioning, bath-robes, slippers, mini bar, safe - very good indeed. We dined at the hotel and dinner was truly excellent. The only negative was that our garden room had very poor WiFi reception so we had to walk to the main hotel to get a decent signal. We would definitely return if we were ever back in Aigues-Mortes.

Stunning Hotel

Really outstanding hotel; I travel a lot and this one one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in anywhere in the World. The garden courtyard where we ate dinner was just sublime, ancient old trees giving shade and the garden so well tended. The internal spaces of the hotel are beautifully furnished, with huge tapestries and antique furniture. The situation being so near the ancient ramparts also adds to the vibe. All the the staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Overall just amazing.

Great location in a busy seaside town

Very helpful and attentive service, large room, very comfortable bed, good location close to but away from the bustle of the town, good choice at breakfast. No parking is allowed in the town by non-residents and can be expensive, if staying overnight. We only found out later that the hotel has its own car park which must be prepped and is a cheaper option.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The room (prestige double) was very large and extremely comfortable. The setting -- a former Cardinal's residence -- is wonderful, with an interior grassy courtyard. Very much an oasis. Inside the walls of Aigues-Mortes, this is a very nice luxury, since green space is rare. They also have garage parking, which is very nice. I had a pleasant meal at their dining room one night, and, the second night, went to a restaurant recommended by the nice young lady at Reception. I enjoyed it very much. The breakfast at the hotel isn't cheap, but is very good quality. I will definitely come back here.

My new favorite hotel!

Lovely hotel with incredible courtyard with nice pool and Jacuzzi. Nice breakfast in courtyard. Lovely room with nicest bathroom I've ever had. Perfect location in the old town but off the bus streets. The staff was incredible, giving us snacks with the bottle of wine we had brought with us, letting us swim and hang out after we had checked out, etc.

We stayed at the Villa Mazarin for a belated anniversary treat and were blown away by the service, the room and the location. I'd also asked for champagne and flowers to celebrate and these were top notch. The team at Villa Mazarin were without exception very helpful and also very tolerant of my terrible French when trying to get directions/a restaurant recommendation/chat about the weather! I felt that nothing was too much trouble for them and am hoping to visit again soon. Thank you so much for making our holiday very special.

My minimum list of complaints would include:
Failing to concentrate and trying to lower garage door while we were underneath it
No hot water in either double room
Noisy rooms
Dud light bulbs
Surly staff and one who stayed on phone and ignored you all times of day
2nd rate breakfast including rotten fruit in fruit compote, self making hot chocolate packets in cheapest mugs

Our stay at the Villa Mazarin Aigues Mortes was fantastic. The hotel was a refurnished manor house located within the walls of a medieval fortification. The rooms were large, comfortable, beautifully furnished and was operated by an excellent staff. The hotel contains a four star rated restaurant. This is an ideal place for history buffs and food connoisseurs.

Because of storm damage the car park was unusable but also so was the swimming pool and jacuzzi which was the main reason for booking this hotel. We were given a room upgrade but we're very disappointed. The hotel said that you should have let us know about this problem so I think some compensation is in order. I hope to hear from you soon

Good stay overall. Spacious room, AC worked great. Staff spoke English, and was friendly and responsive to our needs. The hot tub felt great, and the pool was very pretty, but a bit too cool to swim in for our use. The gardens were very lush, and upkeep was meticulous. Parking was available for a daily fee, and because of the busy tourist area, I'd highly recommend it. Breakfast buffet was plentiful, with eggs available and plenty of coffee, meat, yogurt & fresh breads, cheese & fruits. The professional staff is what makes this place excellent, and I'd definitely stay here again.

Charming Hotel within the City Walls

The \"Mazarin\" Hotel was a very pleasant surprise. We expected difficulties due to its location on a narrow mediaeval street, but getting there was easy and parking, while tight, was also acceptable. With the car safely put away, we explored what the hotel had to offer. There is no elevator - instead very many stately stairs. If you have luggage, a lot of luggage, that might be a problem. Well, it wasn't. Before we knew it, the receptionists joined forces and brought everything up. After this stay we concluded that hospitality was invented in France. The whole atmosphere is calm and welcoming which immediately puts one at ease. The room is large and fairly well appointed, the only thing missing being a couch or armchair.
The hotel, located inside the city walls, is a short walk to anywhere. Aigues Mortes is a lovely place with lots of exciting things to see and do. Do not miss the boat trips and the phenomenal Saline.

Peaceful oasis

Staff were friendly and attentive.

Breakfast was very good and a beautiful outdoor patio to eat it in made it perfect. It was so peaceful there we didn't want to leave. Dinner was also excellent with wonderful little extras thrown in by the hotel.

Our room was lovely and large as was the ensuite bathroom.

The indoor swimming pool was an added bonus, especially after touring around on a hot day. And having indoor parking was a real plus as parking within the walls of Aigues Mortes is almost impossible.

This place is a real oasis and we would definitely return.

A wonderful oasis of tranquility

Room was spacious beyond belief after a week on the Canal du Midi and huge under any circumstances . Quality of furnishings was adequate , but the bed was excellent and very comfortable . Bathroom beautifully equipped with bath and walk in shower , and toiletries by Clarins . Rooms were spotlessly clean . Could not try restaurant as it was fully booked , but breakfast was delicious , plentiful , and excellent value .Perhaps a room safe and a fridge might have been appropriate considering the general facilities of the hotel . Staff friendly courteous and helpful .The basement garage is a huge bonus and well worth the charge . Would go back tomorrow if opportunity arose .

Visit to the Camargue

Located within the walled town of Aigues Mortes, a few minutes from the town square where there were excellent range of restaurants. Excellent location to explore the Camargue within a beautiful walled town. The staff in the hotel were exceptionally helpful and the food was very good. Had car parking available in the hotel. Not the cheapest hotel, but given the location we would definitely use this hotel again. Wished we had stayed longer!

Charming castle retreat in a medieval town\n

We were warmly received and out room was ready before it was promised. Their pool was clean and inviting. After a tour of town we had cocktails in the bar and a first class meal in the elegant dinning room. There were few guests this time of year and we appreciated the quiet. The whole experience was a highlight of our trip and I would love to return.

This is a beautiful hotel with an inner courtyard garden which is very tranquil, based within the ancient walls of aigues morte. The courtyard rooms are currently undergoing renovation works and we hope to return again to see the results! As to service, David and Fabian were brilliant when our hire car broke down and had to be replaced. Thank-you both so much. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Classy and quiet but close to all

We enjoyed everything.. Service was friendly and available. parking was well worth it... Under street level garage. pool was always clean and never crowded. grounds were well kept. Very quiet, serene place. Perfect for couples, but they were very welcoming of our child even though it is not really a kids type place. Location is superb. We did not eat at the restaurant due to the limited hours and limited menu... It looked gorgeous, but I urge them to offer a few more dishes and longer hours. We really enjoyed our stay and would return!

Wish we had more time to stay

We stayed at this hotel only one night before a boating trip. We had the \"superior\" double room that was spacious and comfortable with opening windows over the beautiful garden/courtyard of this Villa. No bureau but a large wardrobe closet with old carved wooden doors. The bath was modern and spacious with a tub and shower combination and heated towel racks. We ate dinner at the hotel also. The menu is entirely in French and not your basic items so we needed a little help from the staff. We choose the 30 euro menu which caused us to choose items out of our comfort range (octopus) and it was all delicious. Breakfast costs extra, but with lots of options, we enjoyed it outside in the courtyard. The hotel also had a pool and spa that was inviting, but we had no time. It is also situated in a quiet section of Aigues Mortes and since the area inside the walls is so small, you can easily walk everywhere. Very restful. The only glitch was that our U.S. credit card would not work in their machine so we had to use cash. The same card worked fine in other hotels in larger towns. Also, if you need to arrange a taxi for the morning, ask the day before. It seems to be an issue in this tiny town.

Classy hotel in quiet part of town with good facilities - swimming pool and hamman especially welcome for a winter stay as they offer entertainment for that usually dead early evening time. Friendly helpful staff (yes I know this is France and I mean what I say despite what anyone else says) Lovely old building with good ambience and plenty of modern facilities - basement garage was handy in the light of the wet weather - can't comment on food, drink or service as we didn't eat in the restaurant. Judging some of the other hotels by the faded exteriors we made the right choice for a winter weekend - I suspect that the hotel won't be such good value for money in the height of season but it was well worth it for a nice November break

Checked into the hotel but, despite booking 2 nights last December for the following August, were told that we only had one night in the room we checked into and the we had to change rooms for the second night. Don't know why and the second room was not as nice as the firs and it was a tad annoyingt!!

Best avoid the restaurant. Pricey and very pretentious and the menu is , frankly, a little wierd (e.g. Bull steak with chocolate sauce and peaches, which didn't really work for me!!)

Et pour finir un très agréable coin détente avec une piscine ,un jacuzzi ,un hammam et un sauna magnifiques . Le tout d’une propreté impeccable .
Une adresse a garder pour un prochain séjour dans la région .

TRES CHARMANT ET AGREABLE

Hotel tres bien situé aux pieds des remparts dans une magnifique bâtisse, le pk est très pratique.
Le cadre est magnifique, le jardin central tres agréable, les chambres sont spacieuses, calmes et joliment décorées.
Le petit déjeuner proposé dans la jolie verrière est fabuleux, la personne qui le sert tres professionnelle et extrêmement sympatique!
Nous reviendrons.

Un excellent séjour, mais un dîner très décevant.

Tout ici inspire le plaisir d’un séjour réussi. Le calme olympien de cet hôtel est étonnant et tellement agréable.
La chambre De Luxe et la salle de bains sont vastes et confortables. Les chiens y sont autorisés mais il faut l’indiquer à la réservation. De même pour le parking. Le petit déjeuner est très bien fourni et très agréable. Le service et parfait et efficace.

Par contre, le restaurant n’est pas à la hauteur de sa réputation. Le chef devait être en vacances. Les assiettes sont quelconques, garnies de beaucoup trop de légumes, sauces et autres décorations qui ne se valorisent pas vraiment entre eux. Le foie gras, trop cuit peine à se rehausser d’une crème brûlée de patates douces. Il semble que le bon goût soit resté à la cuisine. Les 2 mets principaux (lotte et canard) n’étaient pas du tout assez cuits et il a fallut demander un retour en cuisine qui s’est encore avéré insuffisant. La carte des vins est très insuffisante et sans réel attrait. Assurément un manque de recherche.

Une belle escapade en couple

Un cadre magnifique et calme, du personnel souriant et aux petits soins des le petit dejeuner. Belle piscine avec jaccuzi et sauna.
Un seul regret ,notre chambre donnait sur une rue passante dans la cité, reveillez a plusieurs reprises a cause des camions poubelles a 5h du matin et autre camions. Une climatisation bruyante.

Hôtel 5 * qui n'en est pas un

Nous avons pu parquer notre véhicule au parking de l'hôtel à 13h00. Nous avons été magnifiquement accueillis par le réceptionniste qui nous a donnée toutes les infos nécessaires. Etant trop tôt pour prendre la chambre, nous sommes revenus à 17h00. A notre arrivé il n'y avait personne à la réception. Nous avons recherché quelqu'un dans l'établissement et avons interpellé le barman en lui indiquant que nous patientions depuis plus de 10 minutes et que cela n'était pas admissible dans un hôtel qui affiche 5 *. Il a été désagréable et à la limite de la politesse. Ensuite est enfin arrivé le réceptionniste à qui nous avons fait la même remarque. Pour lui ce n'était pas visiblement pas un problème..... En conséquence, nous avons annulé le diner du lendemain soir et avons décidé de ne rien consommer à l'hôtel. S'ils n'ont pas envie, nous non plus ! C'est dommage car c'est un bel établissement avec une jolie cour/jardin intérieur. Les chambres et salles de bains sont spacieuses. La décoration est très bien aussi. Le réceptionniste à notre départ a été charmant. Nous n'y reviendrons plus.

Magnifique endroit, personnel très serviable . Cet établissement est très bien situé au coeur de Aigues-Mortes. Un petit déjeuner de très haute qualité nous n'avons pas tester les repas.
Très belle expérience, nous reviendrons à coup sûr.
Petit bémol : le revêtement autour de la piscine est très glissant ( mais on nous a informé qu'il devrait être changé)
le petit + : pet friendly (beaucoup de client sont venus avec leur chien)

Bel hôtel avec des chambres agréables et avec du cachet. Cependant pour un établissement 5 étoiles il y a beaucoup de petits points négatifs : la climatisation fonctionne très mal et est bruyante. Le bar ferme en réalité à 23h. Le restaurant a sans doute été côté au Gault et Millaud mais il n'est plus que l'ombre de ce qu'il a été. Des pots en plastiques cassés qui traînent dans le patio, etc...
