We had several disruptions and were wildly inconvenienced each night during our stay. From water not working in our room to being displaced due to a gas leak, what was meant to be a relaxing birthday celebration in the mountains became a dismal and frustrating experience.

The kitchen was not fully equipped with any cooking utensils. The kitchen was dirty. There was blood on the floor from the last person that was there. I complained about it and they’ve never sent anybody to clean it. There was a dead fly over the kitchen table. They never came and cleaned it. The shower did not work. They came to fix it said it was fixed and then I went to go get a shower after that it was not fixed. I ended up getting my room switched twice. Place was horrible. I would never go back 2 inches of dust all over the place the ceiling fan was thick of dust.

It was nice there. We stayed at the off-sight units, which was fine with us, we were only staying one night and didn't have any kids with us. It was dated, but very clean. There was probably only 4 other rooms being used in the whole unit, again, it was ok with us. If I could complain about anything, it would be that it had a full kitchen, but no utensils or flatware or a garbage can anywhere. So it was really peaceful. We had a good time.

Old property but very comfortable. Windows opens. Water park was closed because of pipe burst in coldweather. Could not use water park in our two night stay but was given complementary breakfast for a day. Overall two bedrooms were comfortable. Its great place.

first of all we had requested for all our rooms to be together and they said they would well that did not happen and as big as that property is we were spread out through out the property TERRIBLE I will spare you the rest of the details and go righ to the big one BED BUGS and not only in my room but several others in the family. SHAMEFUL. The restaurant was terrible from the service which was not the staffs fault to the HORRIBLE food and we were not the only ones complaining.

Quiet, not crowded at all, and breakfast included is a plus. Some staff were friendly. I did receive accommodation for the pool being closed. My granddaughter and Daughter enjoyed the H2O waterpark. It’s not a 5 star resort but it will do. The pool was closed for a couple of days, It would’ve been nice to be notified.
I will come again but I will call in Advance to see what’s open and what’s close.

Upon arival the staff didn't even know where our room was. Our room number was not listed on the floor map. After circling 3 times we found it on our own. Room is pretty awful. It smells horrible. we go to wash up & there's no running water. No water in the hotel for hours. Dead bugs in light fixtures and on windowsils. They don't clean the rooms daily. We had 3 days of dirty towels on the floor. We never got to use the pool. The pool was green, they were still telling peope it was safe to swim. The next day it was closed The water park was closed a few days of our stay. I didn't have the highest expectations when I booked this \"resort\" but you couldn't pay me ever stay there again.

The water was closed our entire stay which was the purpose of choosing the resort. No accommodation or credit was given towards the stay for the issue, each child got $10 credits and was used with 3 games. Our room window was left opened and would not lock.

Do not waste your time booking this resort. The negative reviews you are seeing are not individual experiences.
We booked a two bedroom suite but were given a one bedroom. The refrigerator did not work and we lost around $50 in food.

Our room was 82+ degrees. When we asked maintenance for help, we were reprimanded for lowering the thermostat. They brought us box fans to “cool” the room. (Spoiler: the fans did nothing to cool the room and the temperature kept increasing.) At least five other rooms on the third floor had their doors propped open with fans for the entire night. This tells me the heating is not only a comfortability issue but also a safety issue.

The water park was closed but apparently was only partially functional on the days when it was open.

Everything is dated, smelly and dirty. Even the bath water was coming out yellow/brown.

We spent time in the lobby waiting for our dinner to be delivered and every single person we encountered was complaining of similar issues, if not worse.

I truly do not know how this company is still in business but I know for certain that my family will not be returning.

The resort is very out dated. We had to wait about 15 minutes for hot water to kick in the bathroom, the facility is very old. The TV didn’t not work properly. Most of the staff couldn’t speak English. The food was good, and the staff were attentive.

We unfortunately had no running water for two days, which was a major inconvenience. The hotel itself is actually very nice and offers many amenities, but it clearly needs a lot more maintenance and upkeep to match its potential.

That said, the staff was friendly and genuinely tried to accommodate our large family of 16, which we appreciated. With better maintenance, this could be a great place to stay.

Only thing good about place was hot tub. They have a kitchen with NO kitchen utensils or pots and pans. Your key will LOCK before checkout time. When you call about it, rep will act like there’s a problem with everybody key and use CURSE words when they speak to you. Very rude employees. WON’T book again

The room and Building we were berthed in was poorly maintaned. The building reaked of Marajuana (This was supposed to be a non-smoking building) There were no Vending Machines, no Game Room, No Ice Maker...The room ws clean, but there was no Hot Water for the first 24 hours of our stay. I reported this to the front desk and one lady offered another room, but one of the other ladies told her that it wasn't an option. I had to call and complain several times about the hot water. When they finally notified maintenance, the maintenance personnel discovered that someone had turned off the hot water and never turned it back on. This was severe inconvenience. I e-mailed and called the manager, but never received any response. The bathtub drain was inoperable. I had to fix that for them, otherwise, I would have not been able to use the tub on teh 2nd day after the hoe water was turned back on There were no pots, pans, dishes, silverware, or amenities in the room, There was no remote for the TV in the Bedroom, I want to request a refund for at least one of the days due to the inconvenience of not having any hot water and for the poor overall quality of my stay.

don't know where to begin. When we arrived to check in, they had run out of room keys. Every time we left the room, we had to wait for a security guard to walk us back and unlock it, which continued until about midnight on our first day.
The room was extremely outdated and in serious need of improvement. There was a terrible smell throughout the room that was absolutely disgusting.
The water was either freezing cold or burning hot, making it impossible to shower comfortably.
To make matters worse, out of the nine rooms my family rented, we found bedbugs in seven of them.
When I went to speak to the manager the next morning to report the issue, she casually asked if we would like them to wash our clothes and said, \"It's not a big deal.\" That response was completely unacceptable and showed a lack of concern for the don't know where to begin. I stayed at the resort for the Martin Luther King weekend. The building we were assigned to did not have an ice machine, and there was no one at the front desk available to assist us. On top of that, the heating system broke down. When I called the information number, the recording stated that assistance was only available until 10:00 PM.

It was a weekend with constant snowfall, and neither of the two heating units worked properly, which made the stay very uncomfortable. I have been coming to this resort for over 10 years, but unfortunately it feels like there is less investment in maintenance and guest support each time.

Rooms were nice and spacious for my family to spread out. I liked having a kitchen. The staff were very friendly. The arcade and bowling alley was a big hit with my kids. And the breakfast was a very nice spread every day.

Hello,

I am writing to formally document several serious issues we experienced during our recent stay.

On the second day of our visit, the pool water was visibly cloudy. Despite this, we used the pool, and for the following three days multiple members of our family experienced persistent itching after pool use, raising concerns about water quality and sanitation.

Additionally, several advertised amenities were not operational during our stay. The hot tub was not working, the waterpark was unavailable, and the slide was also out of service. These amenities were a major factor in our decision to stay at your property.

There were also significant cleanliness and maintenance issues throughout the resort. In Building Three, the side hallways used to enter and exit the building were consistently filled with trash. The movie theater was in particularly poor condition—the floors were sticky and littered with trash, and approximately 90% of the seats were broken and would not recline.

Taken together, these conditions reflect a lack of proper maintenance, sanitation, and guest care. Our experience did not meet the standards represented at booking or the level of quality we expected for the price paid.

I am requesting that this situation be reviewed and that appropriate compensation be provided for the significant inconvenience and unsanitary conditions we encountered. I would appreciate a response outlining how these concerns will be addressed.

We had no idea that breakfast wasnt even in the building we were in, by the time we figured out where we were supposed to go it was closing. Was over an hour and a half wait time to check in after the check in time. No remotes in the rooms for tvs, no shower curtain, the key stopped working about an hour after we finally got to the room. No coffee pot, kitchen sink didnt drain.. It was an absolute disaster, literally one thing after another. We were not even shocked anymore something happend. The numbers they give you to call for help or for the front desk no one answered. Called for a plunger, no one showed. Called again in the morning, someone finally showed up. This was our first time here for my daughters birthday and the slides were down, it was just a mess.

Staff was good, directions to buildings could have been better and put on the property map as it is confusing. Room was very clean but in need of some updates:

1. bedroom wall under TV had a ton of scuff marks
2. Ceiling tiles in bathroom had water damage and could have been replaced
3. (1) wash cloth for (2) people for a (2) night stay (could have used a few more towels)
4. Could have used a box of tissues in the room and an extra bar of soap the soap was so small it barley lasted for hand washes and two people to shower for (2) days.
5. There was blood on the duvet which we did not notice till the morning we checked out and it wasn't from us. So that tells me the duvet was not washed.

The Good:
1. Room was very clean
2. Jacuzzi was immaculate
3. The room was spacious

The place is pretty close to everything you need and the resort has alot of amenities, I did not use them but it looks like a good family place.

I’ve stayed at Split Rock years ago and have visited a few times over the years, so I was hoping to see noticeable improvements — unfortunately, there haven’t been many.

The resort advertises renovated rooms. I specifically asked guest services if our room was renovated and was told yes, about four years ago. Based on the condition, that was hard to believe. The doors had visible cracking at the bottom, and the heating barely worked. Our room was very cold, and maintenance had to bring two plug-in space heaters just to make it comfortable.

One positive is that the room did include a small kitchenette with dishes and utensils, which was helpful. However, no dish soap was provided, making it difficult to actually use the dishes. The towels were also extremely small — not practical for grown adults.

I do want to give credit to guest services, because they did something very kind for my son by putting balloons on our door, which made him feel special. It was a last-minute request, and I truly appreciated that gesture.

We stayed in the Town Center section, where the movie theater and bowling alley are located. While it’s convenient to have those amenities on site, the overall area feels outdated and in need of upgrades. This really seems like a property with a lot of potential, but it hasn’t kept up with modern resort standards.

The main reason we chose Split Rock was the water park, since it’s more affordable than Camelback, Kalahari, or Great Wolf Lodge. Unfortunately, seve

Amenities weren't all together , water slides were down in waterpark hot tub wasn't working in waterpark . Pool was very nasty jacuzzi in pool area gets didn't work . My room was 5813 tub was nasty has to call twice fir so one to come clean it upon arrival , there was a pocket knife found under bed which indicate the room wasn't cleaned properly . I left way before check out I paid deposit in cash they couldn't locate that I paid in cash manager then came from back and found cash in drawer because the safe was unlocking so someone put cash in a random drawer . Elevators were down . Galway smelled like smoke .

We did not get breakfast. We were need to believe our was included with our stay. You can only get coffee from 7-8 or 4-5 otherwise you have to not your own. There were supposed to be movies and noone was there, empty dark room no concessions. No outlet for phone right side of bed. Only decaf coffee in room with just 1 packet of sugar and 1 packet of powder creamer. Good for low budget family outing. Likely better on warmer months to take advantage of outdoor activities. However being the weekend right before Christmas I expected to see the Christmas lights all on and that was not the case. The facility overall definitely need some updates but overall was an okay stay

My stay here was amazing. I was surprised when I recieved a call from the resort prior to my stay to see if I had any questions. I was delighted with the low cost to stay there and even more delighted with the room. I was upgraded for free from the staff since there were extra rooms available and my room was clean and quiet. I went out of peak season and almost had the building to myself. The room was nice with a smart tv and comfy bed. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans and even had a dishwasher. I spent the day in Jim Thorpe and came to spend the night. The resort has a lot of things to do that I had no idea about like a bowling alley, arcade and movie theatre! I was surprised to see so much on the property. Be sure to ask for directions though, its a large property and can get confusing quick especially in the dark. My only complaint was that the sofa bed in our room was somewhat uncomfortable, its not a traditional pull out bed but rather some cushions that arrange to make a \"bed.\" That being said a couch bed has never been the pinnacle of sleep comfort and that would not stop me from returning. I will definitely return, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the room and attractions were nice and I and my group were very pleased. If you wish to visit I reccomend you call and do a little research as there are nice perks you might not see on the website and you may want to plan your excursion since the resort is a bit remote overall I highly recommend!

When we arrived, we were told the elevators were not working and remained out of service for the remainder of the weekend. We enter our room, the heating /cooling system is broken so no heat. Hair and dirt residue in the showers from previous occupants. Called the front desk to complain and the room phones were out of service. Turned on the television and the Wi-Fi was not working. Lights in the bedroom were not working. I went downstairs to the front desk and made a complaint. I asked to change rooms, and they agreed but I had to stay in that room for the night with my sisters until the next day. They bought us two electric heaters, and only one worked. I froze throughout the night. The next day they sent the maintenance guy to confirm the heating/cooling system was broken, and he confirmed it was broken. Finally get a new room the next day, which was Friday, and there were no washcloths or toilet paper. I called for those items and only toilet paper was delivered to the room. I called about the washcloths and they stated at the front desk, that they were all out because the hotel was at full capacity. So we had to wash ourselves with larger towels which are heavy when soaked with water and soap. Unbelievable! That same day I filed a complaint at the front desk for a refund just for the first night, and Kimberly the front desk manager stated I would get it and understood my complaint. I reached out after our weekend ended and I'm still waiting for my refund. So unfair.

The water park was extremely dirty. The slides were full of rust, the water itself looked brownish from the rust/ as soon as I realized it, I had to take the kids out. We weren’t able to enjoy. There were many little roaches roaming around the water park. The fridge in the room wasn’t working. The hotel/park didn’t offer gluten free food and they didn’t allow me to heat up my food either! First and last time there! Just terrible.

We had been to Split Rock several times before and enjoyed our stays. This time, we didn’t have a great experience. The elevator was broken, which led to us having to carry all of our belongings to the 3rd floor. As a couple in our 40s, with health issues, this was a difficult task, but not a deal breaker. We did have the longest walk possible to our room. Even though the elevator was broken, we were given the a room on the furthest corner away from the front of the building. It took us about 7 mins to get from our room to the front door to exit the building.

We booked this property because we had great experiences in the past and enjoy the in-room hot tub. We ran the hot tub for over 30 mins and it never got to half full. The water pressure was absolutely awful. By the time we checked in at 30 mins, the water in the tub was like warm and the hot water coming from the tap had gone cool.

We ended up leaving at 11:45pm on the same night we checked in. This was our first negative experience there so hopefully it was just a one off, because we normally really love Split Rock.

No cups or coffe maker in room. Had coffee but only in shop down stairs by lobby for purchase. Shop down stairs looked like a flea market with glasses leftover from wine and beer tasting event for sale. Items dusty and nasty looking. Had ice machines but no buckets for ice in room. Main elevator didnt work and that was not customer friendly, there was a theme of not thinking of customer convenience throughout. Lastly room seemed cleaned but hallway and some of building in need of repair. Every floor had weird smell to it one my floor smelled like weed and an ashtray.

I recently stayed at Split Rock Resort in the Poconos. The overall experience was okay, but cleanliness could definitely be improved — there were visible stains on the walls, and the hot tub didn’t seem to be properly cleaned. That said, the amenities were actually underrated! The place was quiet and not crowded at all, which made it the perfect time to relax and have fun without dealing with large groups. The bartender (I forgot her name!) was hilarious and really made the night enjoyable. With a little more attention to cleanliness, this place could easily be a great getaway spot.

This place is OUT-DATED. Im sure 20 years ago it was very nice. Where to begin... the satellite buildings stunk (literally) they moved our room to the main building on the 3rd floor, elevator was broken, our room was 84 degrees, no ac. The hallways are a thing out of a nightmare (my daughter said it was very scary and seemed haunted) I dont usually leave negative reviews, but this place is a real turd. Understaffed, and lack of up keep. The surrounding areas are great, so.... they got that going for them.

We asked for a change room, but was told none were available. Then, the fire alarm went off at 7am, and we had to evacuate. This happened FOUR more times throughout the day, with the fire department visiting once. Each time, we were told it was fixed, but nothing changed. Finally, after the 5th alarm, we were moved to a different building, but the damage was done. Unacceptable experience.\" Entire weekend ruined.

Hotel is in need of major renovations, not very kept up or clean. The elevator in the lobby wasn’t working. Our room was supposed to be one of the renovated ones, but was poorly done and incomplete. There were multiple bugs in the room and we called three times in which maintenance was supposed to come but never did. I will never stay here again.

Room was decent. Bathroom shower was odd, Tub floor was 5 inches higher than BR floor which makes for a unique exit experience when wet. Place could use some money invested in it. Front desk receptionist does A LOT of apologizing to your guests because of the lack of upkeep. She deservesa BIG raise.

I’ll try to describe all those inconveniences we experienced when we were staying there. Everything started with checking in where we found out that our room was not located in this address and obviously in the building of the hotel mentioned in booking information. As a front desk representative explained we should have driven for more than 2.5 miles to arrive in the area where the small building was located to get into the room. When we finally arrived at that building there was nobody from hotel staff who could help us and we definitely needed help since our card keys were glitching and we couldn’t open the door during 10-15 minutes. It was late 11:30 pm and we barely found the parking area so we didn’t really want to drive back in the main building so I decided to call front desk and believe or not nobody answered the phone at all. Finally we got somehow in the room and all other “surprises” started there: there was no heat it was freezing cold, the floor was dirty not vacuum cleaned at all. A lot of small plastic pieces ( broken container or maybe broken plastic bottles) were everywhere around. Huge spiders on the walls. We have been on the first floor, what was really shocking for me there was a door leading outside on the street from the living room and the locker of that door was damaged it was not closing we slept in opened room. Finally in the morning after shower we found out that there is no hair dryer. And at the front desk nobody was picking up the phone!

Loved our stay and how everything is under one roof but the elevator was broken we had to walk up and down three flights of steps in a cold stairwell, just to smoke all the time and it was a lot I won’t return just due to that. They didn’t offer us a different room or a discount I felt like I didn’t relax on vacation but was exercising

The front desk was great at check in and check out. However tried calling front desk multiple times because the blinds didn’t work in the room, also tv had snowy picture. Also room was outdated with toilet, kitchen stuff no pots or anything in the kitchenette area. Also have been trying to get a hold of someone at the site and can never get anyone to call me back.

Everything was bad. I read the reviews and hoped things had gotten better. They did not.
1. The heat is turned off at night. Why?
2. The sofas in the rooms are held up by 2x4s. There was a Kitchenette but nothing to cook with/utensils, plates etc
3. We had a hard time getting food. No one delivers to the hotel. The cafe didn’t have anything in it. The restaurant was understaffed. I told them I could take it to go and went back to my room to wait. 2 hours later they still didn’t have my food. They ahured me that it was done but there was nothing. I waited there another half hour and they came out with my food. Most of it was missing and no utensils. They gave me ribs on the house but it was actually another guests food. I had been there when he ordered it.
3. Elevator didn’t work. I’m handicapped and struggled to get up and down the stairs. We also had to use the service stairway that was very creepy. They had cleaning supplies behind the doors that made it unsafe to get in and out.
4. The property was smelly and was located on backroads that did not have street lights.
4. The pool was cold. The waterpark was weak. Most of it was not working or had cold water.
I’m sure I missed many things. Overall it was a disastrous trip. We heard so many people there saying they would never return.
If you want a cheap hotel then this is your spot. But if you want a nice trip for your family, this is not it. I wish I could get my money back. DONT STAY HERE!!

The property was very clean and spacious. The bed was very comfy put i recommend bringing your own pillows. The kitchen definitely needs to be updated and maybe some more items provided as there werent any oven mits or any soap or sponges for dishes to be washed. The place definitely has thin walls and you can hear what goes on in the next room. Indoor pool should definitely get a heater as it was beyond freezing. Also bowling alley needed some work done but was fun reguardless. All in all it was a very lovely stay and will stay again but just needs some updating....

The room was very dirty, as were the public bathrooms around the facility - so dirty in fact that when I entered the ladies room nearest to the main lobby, the floor was sticky, every toilet had excrement or urine in it or on it, and I refused to use the facility. The restaurant menu is very limited and the food is passable at best. There was construction happening around the property that made it difficult to navigate. There were large potholes and broken uneven pavement. The beds were beyond awful. Old mattresses that were thin and had broken springs that dug into our backs and hips. Truly the worst nights sleep ever. The blankets were so thin you could almost see through them so we froze all night long. The decor is old and dated, and it is extremely clear no one has put an ounce of care into the upkeep of this property since the 80's. If you have the option to stay somewhere else, you should.

The staff was amazing. Unfortunately the room was eh. The toilet bowl is so low, my disabled mom had an extremely hard time getting up from the toilet. The shower was not cleaned, the drain did not work, housekeeping part was not the best. Ice machine wasn’t working. Needs lots of updating for the price. I could have stayed at a Quality inn for half the price and better conditions

This is far from a resort I would say it is a second class accommodation. The place needs total renovation. The pool looked uninviting a hot tub didn’t work the grounds around it look unkept IIt is definitely not worth $159 a night the pictures on the website are deceiving. When we sat on the beds nearly fell on the floor. No ice anywhere in our building. Had to go searching for it. Very limited linens. Travelocity needs to give me a refund. As far as the staff goes, they were very friendly

Outside could use some updated, inside as well in areas. Got a jacuzzi room. Tub was filthy upon arrival, I cleaned it myself 3 times until jet ran clean. Also had over 30 flies at one point in our room, coming out of vent in ceiling. Informed staff at checkout , was only told they were sorry. We literally had to close off the room , be they were flying everywhere
