Good room which was spotlessly clean and friendly staff - great location in the centre of Verona just a short walk from the busy areas and supermarkets. Lovely mezzanine area with chairs and books to chill out on. Where this hotel could improve and have five stars is improving its breakfast options to that which are both cooked and savoury as it’s currently a rather meagre offering. Also, little details matter like having a basic kettle in the room and a powerful hairdryer. These aren’t expensive amenities to have as standard, but they matter a lot to travellers - we hope this review was helpful and would recommend this hotel to others.

Artwork was like a museum!

Room was small but clean and lovely. Everyone was pet friendly. Only objection we had was that several of the outlets would not charge our phones, although we found that worked well enough. But then we had to share it for the entire stay.

Perfect location for those arriving by train!

We couldn't have been happier than our choice to stay at this hotel. It was a short walk from the train station and a short walk to central Verona so the location was ideal. Our room was right above the main entrance and the only one that I noticed that had a balcony. It was only suited for standing and looking at the city, but nice to have. The room was large, clean and a good value. We especially loved the buffet breakfast with so many food choices and a very nice garden area to sit it. Got the day started right! If you stay here then I highly recommend Da Vito Restaurant, just around the corner. A small, family ran place with fantastic pasta dishes at reasonable prices. It was by far our fav.

The hotel is in a fabulous location that allows easy access to both the city centre, Castelvechia and train station for day trips away. The breakfast selection and eating area is lovely, with very attentive staff and a good selection of food. The receptionist we dealt with, Norman, was very helpful and was happy to go above and beyond when neede. In short, happy to recommend and would gladly stay here agai.

Overall, this is a fantastic place. It's a good compromise location mid-way between the train station and the historic centre. It's not in a characterful area itself but there is a grocery store nearby. The property itself is very characterful, preserving its historic elements. It has a beautiful central courtyard which our room opened directly onto. Our suite, the Garden Room, was wonderful and well appointed, and had a large separate living room with ceiling beams. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Good, clean family run hotel. Adults only, so quiet , especially at breakfast, nice ambience in the dinning room. Comfortable, wee bit quirky in the set up, but no complaints. The beds are not comfortable, the walls are paper thin and the TV next door kept us up until 2am. Also mosquitos attacked us at night and the air conditioner didn’t seem to work. Worst sleep of our trip. The hotel itself is very well decorated. Also has 28 steps with no elevator so mobility impaired people beware.

Lovely little hotel slightly outside the centre but a very easy walk into the old town and also to the bus/ train interchange.

Friendly, helpful staff, good choice of foods at breakfast. Comfortable room with a lovely en-suite shower.


A kettle in the room would have been a fantastic addition to a lovely stay.

Warm and lovely place to stay

We were warmly welcomed by the lady at reception. She is always friendly and offer help whenever needed. They even have umbrellas to borrow on rainy days.

Room was small simple but well decorated. Room with character. Very comfy that we wished we could stay for few more days there. Clean room. And room is made everyday.

We love the shared corner for books, where you can spend an afternoon there on a sofa. Grab a cup of tea and a book about Verona. I wish there will be more choice of english books however.

Highly recommend and we will come back to this place next time visiting Verona.

Oh there’s a very nice ice cream shop around the corner as well.

Perfect location a short walk (or very short taxi) from the Train station and just outside the busiest tourist areas. This was great for exploring Verona whilst also feeling like you could escape the crowds in the evening.

The room was lovely, decent size and had some nice vintage/authentic touches. Breakfast was simple but tasty, staff were friendly and helpful.

Nice rustic property in quiet location half way between bus station and the tourist area. Nice simple breakfast. Rooms very traditional but a bit aged with random furniture. Curtains too narrow to cover windows which were on ground floor facing the morning eating area. Besides breakfast there were no food or snack options and fridge in room barely kept things cool. Would suggest introducing some basic room service and revamping some rooms.

Quite disappointing experience

We have stopped in Verona for one night, to assist opera concert at Arena
We have decided for hotel boutique for 2 reasons, they offer parking space (as available in Hotels) and the high rating from other travelers
The same 2 reasons were quite disappointing for us. Just 5 min after confirming the reservation, we received a call from hotel telling us there was no parking availability and gave us some hints to park in the street or a private garage.
Regarding the rating of the hotel, we have booked a superior room (a kind of apartment at ground level, including access to the patio, having a living room, bedroom and bathroom. The overall condition of the apartment looks quite out of maintenance, starting with the air conditioning that required a filter cleaning which was performed by the front desk person in an
Expedited way.
Breakfast was good and location is not at old town but still at walkable distance to the arena
Bottom line, our first time staying in a hotel rated 9.0 by travelers and not feeling the same

Beautiful hotel

Hotel Scalzi is a beautiful hotel. Our room (and the whole hotel) was very clean and comfortable. All the staff we met were very friendly. Breakfast was good and on a nice day you can sit outside in the courtyard.
The only issue was the wall adjoining the next room was quite thin and we were woken up when they came in (we could hear their conversation and TV).

Situated on the ground and first floor of an old palace it is a beautiful building, very authentic.

La pasamos super en Verona.

El hotel, está como a 5 minutos de la estación del tren en Taxi.
Pueden caminar pero, halar las maletas. Hay que pensarlo.
Cuando llegamos, fueron bien amistosos. En el recibidor, hablaban español y ingles. Cuarto comodo y limpio, ducha con agua caliente y cama comoda. Desayuno en la mañana incluido. A 10-15 minutos a plaza Barr, y Arena romana. De regreso hay que caminar aproximadamente 30min desde el centro. Tiene ATM y farmacia cerca. El area era segura y se podia caminar de noche.
En general fue una estadia buena.
Solamente pasamos una noche.
Y lo recomendamos.

Nice stay in Verona !

We were ‘upgraded’ to the apartment next door when we arrived .. however, I think all this really meant is that we had an extra room with a sofa and wardrobe in it ! It then felt a bit disconnected from the hotel and I think some of the apartments in the block are actually peoples homes ! So it felt like we had booked an apartment not a boutique hotel ! I am not sure this was exactly what I was looking for when booking it ! However, that being said, it was clean, shower great etc and breakfast was the standard for an Italian b&b. Good location, 10 mins walk from train & bus to hotel or 10 mins in other direction takes you right in to Verona. All in all a good place to stay for 3 days.

Romantic break, but didn't fall in love with hotel

A romantic break, but didn't fall in love with hotel. The superior room was on the first floor overlooking the main road, so lots of car noise.The room itself was very large with an upstairs, it felt very spacious but the whole room was very, very dull. Not much natural light, and not enough lights (or bright lights) in the room. There was also only one full length mirror. Strangely this was behind a towel radiator in the bathroom (yes behind the rad). The double bed was 2 singles pushed together. Breakfast was nice, not a great selection but ok. Overall a lovely trip in Verona, but we will not go back to that hotel. The reception area used in the main pic is the best part. T & D

We found this property through Expedia. It is in a great location, 10 minutes walk from the train station and a 10-15 leisurely walk to the centre of Verona. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is continental style but plentiful to set you up for the day. We stayed in a room overlooking a small courtyard at the back of the hotel and it was lovely and quiet. We would recommend this boutique hotel to those who want a lovely experience in the beautiful city of Verona.
