Well placed for exploring Celle

Staff was friendly and accommodating. It was very close to the town Center - so as a hotel from which to explore Celle, it was great. We were in the original building (16th century), as opposed to the modern extension. The ceilings were very low, and there was a bit of a smell from the bathroom.

Beverage prices excessive for the quality (e.g., Grauburgunder by the glass @ EUR 11/100ml would have to be remarkable; the wine on offer was of low complexity, flat, not fresh)

Great hotel. Awesome staff, bar, pool, sauna and overall environment. Elevator seemed a bit shaky as we got stuck in it multiple times and had to press the floor button a couple of times to get it to let us out. The only real complaint was that the pillows were really too soft (I know right) but it was like there was nothing to support my head while sleeping so they were way to soft with no support. Woke up feeling like I had whiplash because of the lack of support. Minor complaint I suppose. Overall great stay and would recommend.

Very nice hotel in a great location with easy access to Celle. We stayed Monday night, a bit unfortunate, as their supposedly very good restaurant is closed Mondays. At arrival we were given an “upgrade” though it seemed more was a “downgrade” from the room type we had booked. Very strange. But quickly fixed. Otherwise all good and friendly service.

The loveliest hotel in Celle!

Arrived early evening having only just placed my booking 20 mins earlier!
Was greeted by very friendly and helpful receptionist who carried all my bags to my room in old part of hotel.
The room was beautiful and comfortable with very lovely furnishings and it had a nice creaky floor!

The receptionist put the heating on which instantly started working and there was underfloor heating in the bathroom.

Bed and bedding was very clean and comfortable and the room was so quiet.

I ate in the their Italian restaurant and the menu offered interesting options and the meal was exceptional.

After a sound nights restful sleep I enjoyed an incredible breakfast in palatial surroundings - there was even champagne on offer!
The staff at this hotel couldn’t have been more helpful and if I ever pass this way again I would certainly try and book this hotel.

The hotel is beautiful. The main floor is gorgeous . Old style architecture wrapped around aa very nice bar. Plenty of comfortable chairs. The breakfast was very good but a little pricey. My room was in the old part of the hotel. Small pretty room with fairly low ceilings. I felt like I had to duck my head all the time. The biggest complaint was there was no AC. I had a fan in my room. The last 2 nights I was there I had the window open and the fan on. it was still a sticky, uncomfortable nights sleep. Not what I would expect from a fancy hotel. If you book someone there, check to make sure the room has AC.

Very nice hotel . Great breakfast and very friendly staff. Clean and comfortable rooms . Unfortunately we stayed during the summer heat wave and it was very warm in the building due to no aircon. Staff did their best though providing floor fans and ice for drinks.

We stayed here for one night. The staff spoke very good English and was very friendly and always willing to assist with any needs. The hotel is just a few minute walk to the castle and city center. They offer great outdoor sitting, to enjoy snacks, dinner and drinks. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks for the great hospitality.

No air con!

Check in was very quick
Staff approachable and supportive
Room was cosy to the rear of the building as we were only staying two night and we were told they were full we knew we had no choice
Bathroom exceptionally clean stocked
But found used slippers under bed clearly not inspected properly
No air con!!! In either the bedroom or bathroom (mirrors remained steamed When in use we were told that air con in the bathroom was on NO it wasn’t not .
and it was very very hot both day and night.
Breakfast good choice available mainly cold meats/ fish etc
Garden to the rare of the building not tidy at all looks clean but could do with a freshen up during the day

Pleasant reception, nice size, well equipped rooms with all mod cons except hot drink making equipment and supplies, but there are facilities in the bar area. There is a nice size pool which has to be said was cold. Breakfast is the best.

luxury close to town

Spacious, well appointed room with a comfortable bed. A quiet room as it was in behind the reception/lounge area. Very clean and toiletries etc supplied every day. The bed was turned down while we were having dinner, a new experience for us! Close to the interesting old town and castle. I'm glad that the hotel had a special rate at the time or we would have missed this bit of luxury on our European holiday.

Would I stay there again - In A Heartbeat, Yes.

Lets not get too bogged down with the \"is this really a 5 star hotel\" debate, I've stayed in newer, far more up to date, far more luxurious hotels boasting 5 stars and some not so modern or comfortable.
We arrived in the early evening having driven from the airport to find that the outside carpark was full requiring us to park up on the street outside. Sorry but I'm not going to pay somewhere in the region of 15 Euro per night just to park my hire car in the hotel garage. Be Aware - there are parking restrictions on the main street - Read the signs.
For me the mature trees and grassed area around the patio to the front of the hotel set the scene, walking in through the front door makes a further impression, something traditional, something special. Old, comfortable and welcoming. Check in was simple and efficient, room upgrade offered and accepted due to very reasonable rate. The room wasn't the biggest I've ever stayed in but spotlessly clean and well equipped. ( My only criticism - No coffee machine ). Large flatscreen TV allows programs to be view in 'English' which helped with Game of Thrones :-)
Lots of facilities / services offered by the hotel but as we on a sightseeing trip we didn't really have the time to take advantage of these or the two first class restaurants unfortunately. The breakfast buffet was excellent, the service provided by the staff was first class and the diningroom is typically German high standard. Its only about a 5 minute walk into town - Enjoy

Lovely hotel in a pleasant town near Hannover.

The hotel was lovely. The attention to detail was excellent. Lovely setting and nice on site restaurant. The breakfast was very good with lots of choices and nice quality food. The pool and steam room facilities looked well kept but I didn't have time to use them. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Lovely hotel!

This hotel is located 1/2 mile from the Celle train station. Do yourself a favor and d/l the Deutsche Bahn ap for train info and ticket purchases.

The staff with no exception was courteous and helpful. They speak excellent English, so American travelers are made to feel welcome.

The rooms are modern and clean.

I will definitely be back next year!

Nice hotel not five star service but rooms and service good, breakfast service disappointing though, had to ask to coffee, dishes not cleared away - not what you expect from a hotel of this standard. Pool was freezing cold so didnt use, sauna area good though. Bar prices very high

This visit was to attend the Celle Christmas Market and Celle itself as we lived there during the 80's. The Hotel was lovely, the staff were very helpful and overall we had a great time. We would definitely visit again and the Althof Hotel Fürstenhof comes highly recommended.

Prompt and Friendly Service

After a warm welcome at the Hotel by the friendly receptionist, we made our way to our room to which we approved of...Unfortunately we had a problem with a blocked toilet. We were very pleased how the staff dealt with this..as we were immediately given another room (upgraded).
Breakfast every morning was absolutely lovely...the staff could not do enough for us. We used most of the facilities in the hotel, including the swimming pool. My husband and I will definitely book again in the future.

Enjoyable long weekend

We enjoyed a very pleasant stay at the hotel, the staff were attentive, its in close proximity to the town. Its in need of some basic renovation, a spruce up really rather than anything to major, its too pricey for the restaurant, we didn't use the Italian, looked nice but we chose to eat out.

The day starts with a wonderful breakfast. A short walk brings you into historic Celle.

The bar at night is very convivial and has all the trappings of being somewhere special.

The beds are cosy and a good nights sleep should be guaranteed.

more upscale hotel in Celle

I stayed two night there in February 2014. Price for a room is definitely higher than average small town hotel in Germany has but they try to offer a bit extra. Hotel has free parking in front of the building and a paid garage. My room was small but otherwise OK and clean, TV has complimentary Sky channels: SkyMovies, 13street, Discovery, and lots of sports. Breakfast was standard german style, which is totally fine for me. There are two restaurants at the hotel, italian and haute cuisine, which are both more on the expensive side. I ate one night at the italian and both the food and the service was good but nothing exceptional. Hotel has ~10meter swimming pool, big finnish sauna and tiny gym equipped with only three cardio machines.

A faded jewel

We found this hotel fine, it is a quality property but does feel a little old and faded. The main building is beautiful - is an old ducal palace I believe - but the annexes where we stayed felt old, somewhat cramped, and tired in their designs. The swimming pool was nice, and the facilities were good. Underground parking was expensive but above ground parking was free. Breakfast was very pleasant and was included for us.

Perfect for romantic break

A Gem in Every Way

We went to Celle for the Christmas Market. Our expectations for the Hotel Fuerstenhof were high and we were not disappointed. In fact, the hotel exceeded our expectations in every category. The furnishings and amenities in our room were superb. The staff was very knowledgable and helpful. Our dinner in the Endtenfang (hotel restaurant) was fantastic and the hotel breakfasts were the best we have ever had anywhere.

On main road/street - but I would almost certainly have missed it if I didn't have GPS. Very convenient (as convenient as German roads make it) to driving the area. Best kept secret in only a block away but all but completely hidden - it's Old Town Celle - a (approx.) 12 block square town center of historic buildings from 1620 to current restoration - a very vibrant and picturesque find.

Exellent and quiet service with superb breakfast. Adjoining restaurant was excellent. Never did find the swimming pool listed as an amenity???

We were so excited to stay at a really nice hotel for two days on our trip and really splurged on this one because the pictures of the room were so nice. The entrance was lovely as we checked in and then we went to the room. :( It was a large closet and what I would consider a 2-3 star room, not a 5! I was very dissappointed and talked to the staff because it was nothing like the pictures online, which they do not agree or disagree with, they did however put us in a nicer room because they had the space as it was in the middle of the week.

Hotel is very elegant and the rooms are lovely. Bed was very comfortable and bathroom had L'Occitane toiletries. Hotel staff were incredibly helpful with information about the local trains and amenities; their English was good. Breakfast was an excellent spread of continental breakfast with some hot dishes (eggs, bacon) also available. Hotel is walking distance to the old town and the schloss. Would definitely stay there again.

Truely a five star experience. Elegant and graceful; romantic too. Staff speaks English. Awesome breakfast with your stay. About 3/4 mile from the Celle train station which makes for a nice walk. The city center is very close by and a nice place to shop and eat. Will be returning to this hotel. Italian restuarant on the property was delicious. The best place I have ever stayed in Europe.

Breakfast was nothing special. Scrambled eggs dry, omelette made to order was a bit better. Some cold cuts etc. Rooms specious and clean but bathroom not properly cleaned. Long hairs in the sink and toilet not really clean. First night we were told there was probably no availability (but no one actually checked!) in the restaurant until much later and then we proceeded to look at it through the window for the next 2,5 hours and all was empty. Location is superb. Easy walking distance to the Christmas market.

Wir haben im Althoff Celle auf unserer Reise an die Ostsee jeweils einen Stop von 1 Übernachtung (Hinreise) und 2 Übernachtungen (Rückreise) eingelegt.
Das Hotel hat eine tolle Lage und die Zimmer sind ansprechend und ruhig.
Dss Frühstück ist sehr gut.
Wir waren bei der Hinreise und Rückreise jeweils 1× im Restaurant essen.
Bei unserem zweitem Besuch waren wir mit dem Essen nicht zufrieden, insbesondere das Carpaccio (wurde mit Thunfischcreme fast ertränkt), meine Portion wurde ausgetauscht, war dann etwas besser.
Mein hatte eine Dorade, die winzig war.
Fazit zur Küche: + offene Küche man kann zuschauen
- Qualität ist tagesabhängig von der eingesetzten Küchencrew
- zu teuer für die erbrachte Leistung

Insgesamt scheint ein personalmangel vorhanden zu sein, was abends in der Hotelbar ersichtlich ist.

Smukt hotel og godt handicap værelse. Desværre fungerer deres digitale roomservice system slet ikke,så ingen oplysninger om hvad der er muligt/priser. Nescafe maskinen var istykker,meldt til receptionen men trods 2 overnatning blev det ikke fixet. Dårlig stil. Poolområdet var godt trods manglende bruseforhold/hygiejne regler. Restauranten var rigtig god

Ikke 5 stjernet hotel…

De solgte deres værelser i den gamle bygning som ‘romantiske’ men det virkede slidt og lugtede af gamle møbler. Personalet virkede sure over at vi ikke ønskede at spise på deres restaurant. Ville ikke vurdere det til at være 5 stjerner.

Bokat superior room , fick rum högst upp med lägre takhöjd, dålig ventilation och ”terrassen” var ofräsch smutsig och med ogräs . sängen var dock mycket bra och bekväm. Bodde här i. juli 2018 och då var allt i mycket bättre skick. Frukosten var då fantastisk/ nu okay / Personal då var på topp då, nu mindre engagerad. Den italienska Restaurangen var 2018 prisvärd / nu föreföll den överprisad / Vi gick på stan denna gången

Smukke faciliteter. Venligt serviceminded personale og en dejlig ro. Dejlig morgenmad. God pool og OK fitness faciliteter. P-kælder med lademulighed. Fantastisk til prisen.
Den tilknyttede italienske restaurant var superb.

Romantisk ophold på returrejsen til Danmark.
Dejligt værelse.
Deres italienske restaurant havde virkelig dejlig mad, men oplevelsen blev desværre skæmmet af en håbløs uprofessionel tjener.

Airconditioning ude af drift og fuld renovering i loftet på værelsesgangen, men ellers virkeligt flot, pænt, meget behageligt personale, flot morgenmad og bekvem parkering.
