The property has a very Tuscan country feel and the staff was very welcoming. It was quiet and safe and the room was clean and large, bed was comfortable. I would definitely recommend a stay here, the location is a very convenient hub for branching out to see various cities in the Tuscan region.

No Air Conditioning

The hotel advertises having air conditioning. This is not the case although the front desk claims that it’s centrally controlled and that “there’s nothing they can do to make it cool.”

I was given a room that overlooks the adjacent street where cars and motorcycles fly by at 100kph. Attempting to sleep with the windows open (again, to try and cool the room down) is utterly impossible.

We had an amazing stay here!! The staff is absolutely phenomenal, very helpful and responsive. The property itself is beautiful and a very convenient location being so close to Montelupo train station. We used this to go in and out of the city only 30 minutes! Parking for the car was plentiful. Breakfast had lots of selection. The restaurant across the road is very reasonably priced with great local cuisine. The rooms were clean and stocked with basic necessities. The rooms have a unique charm to them. The only slight improvement would be a little update to the comfort of the bed. Overal I recommend this hotel to anyone looking to experience Florence and SG/surrounding area.

Ok I normally do not leave reviews and I like to let people find out for themselves. There was dirt and mold above the bed on a picture that they did clean and all I got in return for this disgustingness sleeping in it for two days was 1 free tea. They could have offered one night free for the horrible week old unrefrigerated hard-boiled eggs that were green brown and smelled like fish. I was lied to my face about how they cooked them in the morning and they didn't, everything sat overnight all day under glass. you have to refrigerate eggs!!! Just a lousy overall stay in what should have been an amazing experience because it's a converted convent but that's the best part of it. That room needs to be power washed clean it is filthy! The bathroom however seemed very decent. The room was very very small and right on the highway and the one good part about that was you knew it was time to go to sleep when the traffic died down. I hate to leave reviews and I know this is very negative but this place needs an overhaul!

Decent place, good value. Nice property and excellent service. Excellent breakfast. Only downsides was room got a bit stuffy (didn’t see any aircon?) and we had a couple of pesky mosquitoes, but I understand this is rural Italy so stick by it being a good stay and fine value!

Got shouted at by staff

Last day at breakfast, I cut the tip of the bread and left it there (that very hard bit in italian bread) and continue cutting the \"normal\" slices.
An older man that seemed to be the owner of the hotel saw me and started shouting in italian and pointing at the bread bit.
The front desk guy that spoke English came and made it translated that that my behaviour was unacceptable.
I packed up my things and left.
At the front desk again, I was expecting a sincere apology from the manager, which never happened. To the contrary. He actually told me that the old man is right and \"what if everyone cut that bit and left there??\". to which my response was: \"I'm sure that the bit cost much less than the damage my bad review will cause\"
I remained calm during the whole episode coz it was so surreal I had no words.
so.. thats it.. I really hope this review hurts them.

We came back!

We promised to come back and we did. One of our most favourite places to stay. Great place to relax, with pool, restaurant and spa. Very close to the Chianti region and only 5 minutes from a train station to take you to Firenze or Pisa or Siena. Love this place.

Tuscany for Kings and Queens

If you are looking for a genuine Tuscan experience- look no further. This place has it all. The room is fit for a king with a high ceiling with large wooden beams. Bed was nothing but excellent and you also got complimentary sweets in the room. Bathroom was large and had a good shower cabin. We didn't try the restaurant, but breakfast was great. Some more variety of jams could have been nice as well as fresh fruit and vegetables, but my wife is vegan and she got both soymilk and a salad- although we ordered that in advance. Service was amazing and the guy at the front desk spoke great English.

It was formerly a Convent, first built in the 9th century, complete with church and bell tower.Rooms are modern(renoed 9 yrs ago) and the service is very friendly and charming! Located in the country in a lovely quiet setting.

Everything we had hoped for, we'll be back.

An absolutely wonderful place to stay, just what we had hoped for. The hotel is set in an old monastery / church grounds and although a few km out of town, we used the hotel shuttle. The hotel has modern rooms, excellent facilities (eg pool, bar) and a great restaurant. We loved every bit of our stay, we will be back. Thanks to all the amazing staff at Country Hotel Borgo Sant'Ippolito.

Beautiful Country-side escape!

Went as a couple, we rented a car which we recommend since the hotel is located just outside (about 2 km) away from the closest town. The double room we had was spacious, clean, had fresh towels everyday, and even had a full-sized three-way mirror! The breakfast in the mornings was the same options everyday but always delicious & fresh. We had the pool to ourselves every day during the week which was a bonus! ALL the reception staff were very helpful and friendly with lots of recommendations in the area, one young lady even served us at the hotel bar one night after hours for some birthday drinks before bed - Thank you for a memorable and wonderful stay!

Very fun hotel, out in the country

This was such a fun and cute little place. They have book that shows the history of what the monastery used to look like. One note for this hotel is that it is slightly off the beaten path. You will need to take a train and a taxi to reach it. We thought that the hotel offered a shuttle service to the train station, but upon arrival we found out that we would need to take a roughly 20 euro taxi to and from the hotel each time we wanted to go anywhere. When we first arrived, one of the hotel staff was kind enough to drive over in her personal car and give us a lift to the hotel. The pool was much smaller than we expected (more of a single lap style) but it still felt good on a hot day. This was a very fun place to visit, and they had awesome food. Would defiantly recommend.

To put it simply, it was the Best Hotel Stay ever. The staff is MARVELOUS. I felt \"at home\" - everbody made us feel that way and all i can add is that I can't wait to go back. We booked this hotel to visit Florence and we had a great time. We stayed with our one year old and we received no complaints about noise or anything. Our baby bed was set upon arrival and all though the room was very simple and a tad small we had a lovely time. We very much liked our stay. Beautiful location and the staff were amazing!

The staff made our stay really special, they helped me plan a romantic evening for me to propose to my girlfriend which will stay with us forever.

The location was great, a 40 min drive into Florence and about the same back to Pisa.

Fantastic place to stay!

We were made so welcome by the staff and they were fantastic with our toddler son. The room was very comfortable and clean, the food and wine was excellent and the shower was lovely and hot! Staff were incredibly helpful and they met all requests and questions without hesitation. Breakfast had lots of choices and the evening meals are great too. The grounds are lovely and it is very picturesque but well located to travel around Tuscany. I would not hesitate to book this hotel again, whether as a family, couple or with friends.

Nice set-up, clean and comfortable. Dinner at hotel restaurant very good but quite expensive (one poor waitress was not enough), breakfast a bit on the cheap side, and quite bustling. Location ok, quite room although road nearby, Be aware: difficult to find with google maps, it's not in Lastra a Signa as the address may indicate: It's near Ginestra Fiorentina!

Beautiful Hotel w/ Private Courtyard

My family and I (two dogs plus a 4 y/o and a 2 y/o loved the accomadations at this hotel. They had a pool and a walled in courtyard where the dogs could run around and play. The tower was cool for the boys. The room was very elegant. The staff even made chocolate milk for the boys for their night time drink. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Ooom was a good size and quiet and comfortable. Our safe broke and wasn't fixed for 2 days so we had no access to our important things for that time. The restaurant dinner was ok but nothing special. The wi-fi is only available from the lounge which is fairly restrictive. The breakfast is very limited and very little nutritious food available. Nearby town of Montelupo is beautiful and has a great cafe Rossaro which has great coffee and dolce. The location is ok 20 mins from Florence and handy for exploring Tuscany. The hotel overall is ok but i would probably look elsewhere next time. The coffee at this hotel was different - i couldn't drink it at all.

This hotel was the best choice for the price, location and comfort. The restaurant must be mentioned since the kitchen (chef) prepares delicious meals. Internet was for free, however this service needs to improve. The stuff was very helpful. The pool area is nice and very practical, don´t expect an olympic pool. But, it´s not necessary and the water is refreshing.

I would recommend this hotel for couples.

Lovely hotel

This is a really quaint hotel in Tuscanny. It is well situated for visiting Pisa, Sienna and Florence. We arrived on Easter Sunday for 3 nights and the hotel was fairly busy. The manager and staff were all very friendly and helpful. This restaurant/bar is only open every second night, we didn't realise this. The room was nice and clean, a little cramped with a single bed for our daughter. The bed was so comfortable and clean. The towels were lovely and soft. Our room was facing the entrance of the hotel, near the road. With the windows and shutters closed it was quiet. When you opened the window the sound of the traffic was not too great, not sure what the rooms are like further from the road.
The staff were very helpful in advising us to take the train to florence, train tickets are purchased at the hotel. The station is at Montelupe, only about 10 min drive or so from the hotel. We had difficulty finding the free parking at first. You need to go under the bridge and then turn right, a huge car park.
Breakfasts were fine, a buffett selection of pastries, bread, cold meats and cheese
I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone.

What is more important? The hotel or the staff?

In spite of some minor things which I indicated before, which makes this hotel equivalent to 3 star hotels and not 4 stars, I want to note that the hotel receptionist was very helpfull and we got a lot of help from her.
We had a flat tire in our car and she helped us during over 2 hours to speak with the car rental company, Garrage, main office in rome and did all of that without asking us to pay a single Euro for all of those phone calls she did. I think this is more important than many other things in a hotel. Most hotels would not even bother to help you and they would charge for every phone call you make.

Un piccolo monastero, il cui campanile suggerirebbe un’epoca templare, che isola i suoi ospiti dal mondo esterno pur trovandosi a pochi km dalla bratella principale che unisce Firenze, Bologna, la litoranea toscana.
In poche ore ci si può rilassare abbandonandosi alle mani esperte di Lisa con una seduta di massaggio olistico; bevendo un the nell’antico chiostro; dormendo un sonno profondo, risvegliandosi con una colazione curata.
La struttura offre i vantaggi di una gestione famigliare che colpisce per la sua professionalità e gentilezza.

Fantastiskt hotell på landsbygden som överraskar stort! Härlig miljö, genuin och serviceminded personal, lugnt då det endast var ett fåtal par till på hotellet samtidigt som oss. Fin trädgård med sköna loungemöbler under ”egna” pergolor som gör att man kan sitta för sig själva vid poolen.
Välstädat, massor av parkeringsutrymme, vi fick känslan av att bo i ett ”äkta italienskt stenhus”! Skön säng, rejäla kuddar, kylskåp och små karameller.
Restaurangen tvärs över vägen bjuder på väldigt god mat (bordsbokning föredras och restaurangen har stängt vissa dagar - googla på förhand för att kolla deras öppettider).
Frukosten är bra med olika pålägg och bröd, frukter, yoghurtar, olika sötsaker och kaffe.
Vill ni ha en härlig vistelse på landet så boka detta! Vi är såå nöjda!

Per ciò che pagate qualità superiore alla norma.

Lo consiglio senza riserve. Personale molto disponibile, chiamai un giorno prima per informazioni, soddisfattissimo. Camera in ordine, stile casolare, molto confortevole, pulito e tutto in perfetto ordine. Idem per la sala da bagno. Colazione abbondante è molto variegata, dalla frutta alle confetture, cereali, formaggio o insaccati, con la possibilità non indifferente di poterla consumare all’aperto, bella colazione. Unico neo, non rilevante sulla mia valutazione generale, è stato la difficoltà in camera della connessione dello smartphone, non avevamo campo di nessun fornitore, è il Wi-Fi non si è rivelato un granché, lento e macchinoso. Se non è stato un caso isolato a quel giorno andrebbe perfezionato. Ma come dicevo sopra un bel posto, tranquillo un’oasi di benessere a pochi passi da Firenze.

Ottimo il servizio e la cordialità della reception con e due ragazze. La posizione è buona per visitare Firenze senza affanni e difficoltà di spostamento avendo vicino Montelupo (le sue osterie) e i treni regionali ogni mezz'ora. Prezzo equilibrato per il periodo..

Ottimo hotel in una magnifica location

Bellissima struttura immersa nella campagna toscana nei pressi di Empoli.
Firenze e Pisa comodamente raggiungibili.
Le stanze sono spaziose, pulite ed insonorizzate ed i letti sono molto comodi.
Non manca una grande tv a schermo piatto ed il frigo bar.
Vi è anche la piscina, ma sfortunatamente causa mancanza di tempo, non sono mai riuscito ad usufruirne.
In conclusione, un hotel altamente consigliato.
