They have older and renovated rooms. Get renovated. Spa is amazing, Yelena ( red hair lady) excellent massage therapist! My mom got a massage with Liudmila and she was amazing as well. Spa packages are great value and a must! Pool/sauna area is renovated and great for families with kids or couples, swim up bar makes the experience more fun :)

Ok if you are prepared for compromises

The hotel is in a great location within easy walking distance to the beach, local restaurants etc. The available of spa facilities is a good bonus particularly during poor weather.

On the negative side the interior on our floor and the room itself were a bit “tired” and are in need of an upgrade.
Breakfast was reasonable but not spectacular.

Fantastic location, relaxing SPA, nice and courteous staff and close to the beach and all the major attractions. The hotel provides rental bikes - if the weather allows, there is a hidden bike trail northbound that is not shown on Google Maps. It starts around Malpils iela closer to the beach. There is also a statue of Peter the great with a video explanation.

Jurmala: What are you waiting to come visit it!

The good: Location is amazing. It‘s a hotel with a superb spa that makes everything else come second. Their pools and saunas are great and their buffet breakfast is a feast. The gym is decent. The bad: rooms are spartan, the internet is awful and the TV does not work. There are no small refrigerators in the room which are very soviet-era decorated (weirdly charming) The ugly: bathroom smells like urine

Excellent central location. Staff very friendly and polite. Very good breakfast and magnificent wellness/spa center. We enjoyed the pool and saunas very much.

The only negative side was a horrible sewage smell in the bathroom. This needs to be seriously addressed. Other than that everything was perfect.

Super weird, that hotel guests can use spa only one time, never seen this before, as if it matters how many people sit in the sauna. In the morning they asked me for money for spa :) The water in the hot tub was cold. The furniture and towels in the hotel room is very old and worn.

Saunas were nice, and spa also had water aerobics class, which I couldn't take part in, because my time at the spa was running out, as they do not offer limitless use of spa to hotel guests.
Breakfast was rich.

Hotel enjoys perfect location in town, right on the main pedestrian street. It is very friendly to drivers as well. Getting in from Lielupe bridge takes under 5 minutes. Enclosed parking is large, cars get in and out in seconds and you can easily park right at the entrance. Inside the hotel, you seamlessly transfer from room to lobby, to bar/restaurant or spa-pool center and outside into the street. Once outside, it takes minutes to get to the beach. Café 53 is also right there – one of the coziest on Jomas street.

Add to that clean modern rooms and bathrooms, exceptional Pool-Spa center, well-equipped gym, decent restaurant and bar, good variety at breakfast, friendly and competent tri-lingual staff, and, last but not least, quite reasonable prices.

This is a solid 4-star hotel overall. The location is perfect since it's very close to the beach and the main street with plenty of restaurants. We had a good size room and a huge balcony, which had 2 chairs but no table. The breakfast buffet had a large variety of choices.

OMG! What an amazing service. Free parking. The check in lady was lovely and welcoming. The spa was a dream, the breakfast room has a play room for kids, so parents can eat in peace! This was a perfect hotel for anyone, single, couples or family. There is even a baby sauna!

Nice Spa hotel but average rooms

The hotel offers a very good spa with choices and maybe that's why it's a 4*, cause the rooms are definitely not a 4* hotel rooms. The spa experience is good but the rooms are very basic. There's no tea/coffee setup available in the rooms and had to convince the receptionist to provide me one even if they want to add an extra charge cause it's not like they don't have it, they just don't offer it if you don't have a baby. The location of the hotel is nice, 5 mins walk to the beach and next to the Jomas street.

Awesome place, so close to the beach and with a nice pool/spa area as well which you can use for 2.5 hours per day included in room rate. The room was comfortable, had air conditioning, would be nice if there was a water boiler in the room. Breakfast was quite good. Nice restaurants nearby on Jormas Street

Price is not justified, not a great hotel at all

Reception staff are unaware of hotel facilities at all. Told us that this is not a hotel for families with children and nothing to do for our 2 year old son. I got upset after check in But then we went to the restaurant and seen there playroom for children, went outside and seen the playground for kids, went to the spa and seen children’s pool. So totally useless reception staff! Also it is pacetic that there are no umbrellas for guests use during rain. Most 3* hotels have it never mind 4*. Reception staff offered us to purchase one from them. Disgrace! Restaurant menu is very limited, not much choice of food. Children’s menu- no allergens listed in the menu, nothing to eat for a child with allergies....no kettles in the room which is weird... terrible hotel!!!
Was only happy with location and spa facilities were jamazing. Not coming back for sure

Nice hotel, very close to the beach, great location, right on the main strip- Jomas iela (street) with restaurants, cafes and shopping. we were on the 7th floor - very quite room.
Breakfast with a lot of varieties - hot and cold dishes - really nice breakfast.
Hotel is very modern inside.
The only thing was not for me - very soft mattress... not updated, as in the modern hotels.
And the pool was under the renovation closed, we were not informed until we arrived.
Didn't get any credit for pool absence :):)
Front desk staff- thank you for your hospitality! Very nice people working there.

Good location for Majori beach, Jomas Street with Restaurants and shops. Unfortunately the gym was closed for renovations during our stay. Breakfast of fruits, cereals and toast was good, cooked food did not look very appetising. Only down side was the lack of outside space for relaxation. Would visit again.

It was a nice stay and the reception staff looked after me. When i first got there I was put in a room that was run down with damage to the sink. They did move me into another room. The rooms need a revamp but they are clean. The bathrooms are very dark and because of the type of natural stone are a rusty colour from the water which doesnt look attractive but they were clean. Dated hotel. Spa services were good. Pool is very small, too busy for me to use.

You can feel that the hotel has been built years ago, although clean, it is an used hotel which certainly remeber spitit of 80's even 70'. Nicelly places anyway, 3 minutes walk to Jurmala beach.

Consider staying in a smaller hotel

This hotel is designed for tour groups. The staff is freandly. Breakfast is ok but you feel like in a hospital or factory cafeteria. Rooms are small so we needed to upgrade for an extra charge.

I would recommend booking a boutique hotel instead.

Hotel is very clean with great facilities, unfortunately bad welcoming. Checked in late due to late flight, receptionist said we had no booking in our name and did not want to help just told us to book the room for the night (much more expensive than the deal we got on hotels.com) and sort it out in the morning as could not find email with confirmation number (screen shot was taken but apparently was the wrong one) in the end he found our booking but in the whole process he was very rude and unpoligetic. The room was great with nice views. Location excellent, spa very very good, great choice of breakfast! Had a great experience throughout our stay except what was mentioned at the beginning of the review.

Clearly not 4* by UK standards, no tea/coffee making facilties in the room, tv doesn't work even in light rain and very limited channels. Nice bar at the top of the hotel but it was closed 2 of the 3 nights we were there. Tried to book into hairdressers in hotel but no availability. But the real issue was that hotel staff were very unhelpful. We had never been to Latvia before and asked a few questions and were just told 'no'; they really didn't want to help and a little help would have been appreciated and made a significant difference to our stay. Really wouldn't go back.

We stayed in the hotel for three nights in a superior double room. On the seventh floor. It was spacious, clean and comfortable with pleasant decor. Nice and big balcony. I liked panels on the floor rather than the usual carpet. Breakfast was alright with all basic options. We only used the swimming pool facilities not the spa(so can't comment on this). Very happy with it. Hotel is located 5 min slow walk from the beach and very near to the train station. Journey took about 40 min to central Riga for just over 1 eur each way. Jurmala in April was quiet and relaxing. You can also rent bikes in the hotel. If I was looking for faults it would be lack of bath and the way the shower was designed, water was flooding the floor. However, rooms were cleaned daily so it wasn't a big issue. Also, no tea making facilities in the room! All in all it was a pleasant stay and I wouldn't hasitate booking the hotel again.

Great location: close to pedestrian walk/shop

We loved the location, and the beach was a short few blocks away, too.
The wait staff was less than eager to help.
We thought our air conditioner wasn't working, but the handyman said it was rigged to allow settings no lower than 18 degrees Celsius; so we were hot all night.
Free access to pool during day, but you pay after six PM, I think it was.

We stayed for a night recently and I must say the facilities are great.It was downtime in Jurmala, so nothing to do outside, but hotel's spa facilities made up for that without a doubt. And a pool bar-such simple, but great idea.Staff were not smiley and slightly rude at times, but professional and helpful.The upstairs bar needs the biggest improvement, but hotel, room, recreational activities-really high standard.

Short stay out of season

I had to stay for one night in this hotel and I was disappointed with the hotel that oriented on tourists. First of all we were welcomed by security who was telling us that we parked in a wrong way and had to move our from the hotel parking before we had a chance to check in. Then we been put in a double room instead of twin room twice and had to run back and forth between room and reception to get a room that we required. In the room it self was horrible smell from the pipes. Air conditioning system was turning on and off by its own. Breakfast was ok.

It was amazing the best memories.

So I decided to invite my husband to celebrate our anniversary in Hotel Jurmala Spa

I booked thru Hotels.com with discount and I requested double bad and nice view .
Nothing been done

The room was very small and when I was booking I though it's will be different room because the money we paid wasn't small .

Didn't want make trouble to reception

I put two twin bads together I try to sleep, couldn't sleep all night because I was falling between bads all the time.
After I asked to change the room and they give me a smelly room instead. I was shame to go to reception other time .
In the evening when we come back I realized there one duvet I call to reception to ask for one more
The answer was: all the cleaners are gone home we can't get you a duvet.
I convinced them what it's impossible all the hotels can provide an extra duvet
They
promise what will help me but never deliver a service.
So think twice before booking this hotel

Relaxing Retreat

Amazing hotel located in the seaside resort of Jurmala. Located 30 minutes by train from Riga, surrounded by trees and the beach nearby. This is a great place to relax and rewind. The hotel has a on site spa and beauty parlour, including a hydrotherapy pool, salt sauna and steam room, they also offer various treatments. There is a buffet breakfast included every morning with a wide selection of food on offer. The restaurant had a monthly menu offer of four course for 17 euro, we enjoyed the May menu and it was very tasty.

I have stay at this hotel about 20 times on 2013. I have been here with my family and also when im on business trip. Im very sutisfied with the service and the quality of the hotel. The breakfast could be better but at so far is Ok. What is extreamly good in this hotel is the room service and also the SPA in specialy the manicure and pedicure.

Autumn in a bathing place. Beautiful surroundings by luxurious villas from around 1900. The Jurmala SPA hotel is a concrete newly build conference hotel, lacking any personal touch. Staff is friendly, but needs to follow very strict rules. Bathroom smells fungi. Swimming pool and sauna's are nice, not more than that. Personally I dislike having to have clothes on in sauna's. Breakfast could be freshed up with real juice instead of sugar water. Bread is definitely not fresh.

When I arrived in Jurmala with my husband and our two boys, I wanted to check-in and get information on their parking facilities as quickly as possible. I ended up waiting in a queue in reception for 35 minutes as the staff allowed for other guests to be served first without asking them to stand in a queue. There was also a shortage of staff on the reception desk and eventually when the manager came out, she did not ask to see the next person in the queue but instead happily served the first person who came to speak to her. Eventually, when I managed to get the attention of one of the reception staff (her name was Juliana), I expressed my concerns and mentioned that waiting in a queue for 35 minutes whilst I have a baby in a car is not acceptable. However, she did not even apologise and just wanted to process my check-in and send me on my way. In addition, don't be surprised if you don't have a kettle in your room as we didn't have one and we needed it to make the baby milk. When my husband went downstairs to ask for a kettle, the reception staff advised that they only have kettles in selected suites and will only be able to get a kettle for us the following morning. To sum it all up, this hotel is in an amazing location but they really need to improve on their customer service!

Little known Latvia

Jurmala is known to the Scandanavians and Russians, but yet to be discovered by the west. It is a beautiful seaside town close to Riga. The surrounding town is peaceful with 26 miles of unspoilt beaches. Pavement cafes and little shops abound. The tree lined streets quiet and delightfully surrounded by eclectic wooden dachas. A Viable Alternative to Staying in the City Centre

If you're not anchored to the business area of Riga and you can drive some 30 minutes to there then it's a viable option of staying in a value for money spa hotel with a typical 3 star European standard hotel though located in the charming seaside resort area od the histric centre of Jurmala town.

In the heart of Jurmala

Okay hotel. Not the best I have stayed in but concidering the suroundings and the sea side. I would still recommend it for other guest as well.
Breakfast could need some more interesting things, a bit to boring and without taste...

value-for-money in Jurmala

It's a good place if you are not spending a lot of time in the hotel - I would call the place \"socialism with a capitalist face\". It is still the very best of Soviet past - the style, the architecture. The breakfast (OK, but far from being a feast). The restaurant itself - well there are places around with much more tastier food. It is just A place.
And if it would be a person, I'll describe it with one word. RELIABLE.
I wouldn't stay there with romantic mood, but I would for a couple of days on the business trip.

The Jurmala hotel,Latvia

The room was clean.The service stuff was friendly.The breakfast in the hotel was amazing. The spa is free until 4pm. The location is great,only few minutes to the beach.

Modern design. You can use the

Modern design. You can use the 'Wellness Oasis' (nice pools and saunas) and it is included in the hotel price (when you use it until 4pm). Hotel also has a nice restaurant. It is not exactly at the seaside, though - about 200 meters away. Don't expect also any seaview - only the top floor bar seems to have it. Otherwise the hotel is nice, clean, people in general friendly. We were there off-season and the prices were therefore quite ok too.
