Very well situated next to the Lake and close to the car park. Hotel was clean and well maintained. Unfortunately UK adaptors do not work in this hotel but we found an adaptor on the room kettle so were able to use this with our own adaptors. Staff weren't particularly friendly.

Loved Hotel Tripoli. Location is perfect and right at the port. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Updated bathrooms were very nice. Breakfast was excellent. Staff was nice . Wish we could have stayed another day to experience the Tuesday market, which looked really cool and fun right outside the hotel. Definitely would stay here again.

Best possible location. Biggest complaint is the staff would entwr your room and turn iff the airco when you left the room, even with do not disturb sign hung. This is a no frills but adequate hotel. The location is what makes it great. Lake view rooms right in the heart of town

Very beautiful hotel, very well situated just in front of the port. Very easy to transfer to other cities on the lake. A bit noisy because in central piazza but fully soundproof so no problems for sleeping . Because in center of city very good selection of restaurants and shopping.

The Hotel is right on lake and what a view. We stayed in the balcony room that is pictured on Hotel's.com The pictures don't give it justicee.Stinning views. The staff were brilliant and always smiling.Great choice at breakfast and included gluten-free options.Will definitely be back. 3 star Hotel with 5 star service.

Had 3 rooms reserved for a family trip to Lake Garda, and the hotel is in an excellent location just opposite some water frontage... it is opposite the ferries that can take you about on the lake, but they were closed because, from my understanding, March is low season. In the big paseo in front of the hotel, there was a lovely open market on Tuesdays (local produce plus retail items), some beautiful small flower gardens, good dining and shopping areas around, and I paid a little extra so that our rooms had lake-view, one of them even had a balcony. I am not sure if there was A/C but as we visited in March the weather was cool and sometimes chilly, and the lift worked. The breakfast was excellent (eggs, bacon, all assortment of pastries and breads, cold cut meats, juices, yogurts etc.), staff were courteous and helpful, generally the hotel was clean, the area seemed safe and not very noisy and our rooms were a very nice size with every amenity, and comfy beds. Perfect for a short stay. It is a short drive to the Castle Sirmione, we paid $30-35 Euros for a van ride over there. It is also a convenient distance from the train station Desenzano, we actually walked it though in future for a big group with luggage probably a taxi is better (the walk was not bad, it was downhill and the surrounding residential areas were beautiful - but it would be a different experience going uphill).

I am happy to recommend Hotel Tripoli to family and friends who are planning to visit.

Centrally located hotel

Very nice hotel in a beautiful central location close to the ferry port and with a view of the lake. It is a ten minute walk from the train station. The rooms were comfortable with all the expected facilities. Breakfast had a wide range of continental choices as well as scrambled eggs and bacon. The coffee was excellent. There are a wide range of bars, restaurants and shops close by. If I were visiting Desenzano in the future I would have no hesitation in staying at Hotel Tripoli.

Ideal location

The hotel is ideally placed on the waterfront in the centre of the town. The bus stop for Sirmione and Verona is opposite the hotel as is the departure point for Lake Garda cruises. Our room was reasonably spacious and clean with a large comfortable bed. Unfortunately the room was at the back of the hotel overlooking the wall of the next building. Rooms at the front with a view of the lake would be much better.
Overall, would recommend if only for the very convenient location.

Lovely small hotel with beautiful lake views from the rooms at the front. We had the first floor triple room which has a balcony and absolutely loved it, good sized room with big bathroom and great views.
Staff very helpful, excellent breakfast and loads of dining options straight outside.
Highly recommended.

Everything was lovely..15-20min walk from train station. sound proofing from the day/nightlife
was excellent for siestas. Perfect location with access to ferry over the road to see the other towns on the lake. The only thing i would say the mini fridges do not cool drinks and showers were very cool, which in the heat was not a problem. I stayed in 2 different rooms.
Would recommend. Families were staying with children of all ageds

Nice Hotel in a great location

We enjoyed 3 nights at this hotel. It served as a great base for exploring Lake Garda, and all interactions with the staff were friendly and positive.

PROS
- Very convenient location, ferries are just across the road, and is around a 15 minute walk from the train station.
- Room was nicely presented, bed was comfortable and decent air conditioning kept the room cool. Seemed to have decent soundproofing from the outside.

CONS
- Nothing major and I would not mark the hotel down for this, but the WiFi didn't seem to be strong enough to reach all of our room on the 2nd floor.

USEFUL INFO
- The room only had Type L power outlets, which means that the standard euro adapters with the earth clips have prongs that are too thick. We were able to borrow an adapter from the hotel.
- The hotel provided us with a promotional deal to get a discount on the ferries.

We would happily stay here again if we were to return to Lake Garda in the future!

Great small family run hotel in a perfect location to either stay or use as a base to explore the lake and surrounding towns. Transport links are excellent for ferry (across the road) with bus and train services both just 10 min walk away.

The staff are very polite and super helpful making your stay a real pleasure. Breakfast was comprehensive both cooked and continental with a bar service everyday until late so you can relax after a day exploring. The dining options around the hotel are plentiful as it sits in the heart of Desenzano.

The room was clean, good storage space and bathroom and with everything you would expect to make you comfortable. We had a fantastic view and balcony looking out to the harbour and lake and the square below which was wonderful.

Thank you to the family and staff at Hotel Tripoli for making our stay and visit to Lake Garda such a pleasure.

Absolutely recommend

The location was incredible. We had a room not facing the streets so it was quiet enough although we hear very well what is happening in other rooms. Overall, it was quite clean, except under the bed which needed vacuuming. We had a very nice stay here. Breakfast was also amazing and staff was friendly and helpful.

Lovey room and a nice view of the water from our balcony. Air conditioned room with all you could need and very clean.

Staff were friendly and helpful and allowed us to store our cases at the hotel on our final day so we could head out on the ferry. Location is ideal as you can see the ferry stop from the hotel.

Would definitely stay here again.

Positives: location is excellent. Breakfast was really good. The hotel is generally in really good condition

Negatives: the bed sheets had several stains including one which we think was blood. Staff were reluctant to do anything about this and only after two members of staff had been into our room to confirm the sheets were stained were they reluctantly changed. Also the Wi-Fi signal was very weak in our room and kept cutting out. Wasn’t really a problem for us but could be for others.

Hotel Tripoli is quaint and right in the middle of town. Our room had a wonderful view of the lake and marina, along with beautiful flowers and landscaping between our balcony and the street.
Our room accommodated three of us well. It was clean and our needs were covered.
This hotel does not offer on site parking. I found a public lot about five blocks away and was able to pay for our overnight parking with my credit card. If memory serves, it was 12 Euros.
Overall a very nice experience.

* Location is perfect facing the main plaza and port.
* Nice room.
* Rooms facing that direction could be a little bit noisy (though it didn't bother me).
* I got a wonderful room facing the lake even though that's not what I'd reserved, by paying only a little extra.

I’ll give it a 9 out of 10. Clean rooms, close to everything, check in was easy, great AC, bar service was good. The only draw back was breakfast staff. She seemed to avoid us. We crossed paths 3 times while serving my self, no greetings, no smile, must have been a bad day. Everyone had coffee, so waited for her to ask if we wanted any. Towards the end of my breakfast, I stood up an asked her if I needed to go to bar to order coffee or with her. She then asked what we wanted.
Not a big deal, but we all know we need coffee to wake up and start our day. Lol

One day at Lago de Garda.

Staff was great. I arrived early and wanted to ask if I could leave my backpack until check in. Instead, the person in charge checked me in almost 4 hours before the announced check in time. The hotel is conveniently located just across the ferry access. Room was good and bathroom was larger than expected. The only concern was internet access, not reliable and extremely slow. However, I would definitely stay again here.

Hotel Tripoli is in a wonderful location along the lake and close to countless restaurants. The staff are very friendly and offered a delicious complimentary breakfast. They also stored our luggage without charge on day of check out. Downsides of hotel included WiFi that didn’t actually work in the room and a poorly functioning air conditioner that left us sweating through the night.

We stayed here for 9 nights from 3rd to 12 September 2018. This was our 2nd time staying here. The location is perfect. Straight across from the lake, 1 minute walk to bus stops, 5 minute walk to train station. The staff are very helpful- helping us with luggage, booking taxis and general tourist information. There was a lot going on out the front of the hotel- music etc, we had a lake view room so it was right below our window. I thought we would hear everything from our room at night but we didn't hear a thing. We were actually over staying as we were getting married up in Malcesine so a few of our guests also stayed here based on our recommendations. They all enjoyed their stays too! Breakfast is basic but we always found something to eat.

Excellent choice if visiting Desenzano Del Garda

Stayed here for two nights during our trip to Italy and couldn't have been happier! Hotel is conveniently located close to the center of the town and short walking distance from the train station(15 min). The hotel is located on the main strip, so there is foot traffic and open markets during the day. I found the hotel to be modern and clean. All staff members that I interacted with were cheerful and helpful.

Excellent position in the crowded centre of the town. Lovely views from front rooms overlooking harbour and all the street activities but with double glazing quiet enough to sleep. Difficult to find and long way from parking garage

Great position opposite lake harbour.

Great place for short stay. Don't expect a huge room, though, and shower room was tiny! But this is what you should expect from an old building turned into hotel with en suite! All clean, staff friendly and welcoming, and breakfast was great, too. Lots of choice, great buffet. Think some rooms are larger, though. We were only staying one night and had stayed before so did not pay for anything but standard, lowest price, room.

Traveled with 8 other people ..total of 4 rooms . One room was very basic and tiny and priced accordingly..others had great views and one with fantastic balcony. Very convenient to dining ,shopping and ferry pier . It is a little noisy due to bar next door. ..included breakfast.

Hard to beat this location

Great location, right in the heart of Desenzano and overlooking the lake. Very easy to find after taking the train from Milan. Rooms at the front of the hotel have been recently renovated it seems, to a high standard. One thing to bear in mind - if you get one of these rooms, you get the view and the updated decor, but you also get a fair bit of noise from the people on the street until pretty late on.

Hotel Tripoli in Garda-good or excellent?

Ok, I admit this hotel is not big, spacy, glitterius and modern, BUT this hotel is located in the heart of the city, actually on the perdestratian street just opposite to harbour, in the middle of everything. Some of the rooms are tiny but some easily enough for 4 people. Rooms were clean however this time other of our two rooms used to belong to chain smoker...
Anyway, just go for it, especially because price is reasonable. Stuff is friendly and speaks (some kind of) English, which is not so evident in Italy, even in hotels and other tourist related places.

Gay Friendly

Nice hotel with friendly and english speaking staff, and centrally located on their main street fronting the lake. The desk staff even gave me suggestions for a Gay bar and disco to go to in the evening, without hesitation. BTW, if you are looking for a Gay atmosphere, don't go during August, because all the regulars leave the town, and off the tourist come in. August is very heterosexual and family oriented.
