A great place to stay

This is a family run hotel. They are so helpful and keen to make your holiday a success. It is in a great location near to the train and bus station. We had lovely rooms with wonderful views of Vesuvius. The breakfast was very good and the service excellent. Vico Equense is much quieter and more ‘Italian’ than Sorrento. Lots of good restaurants nearby.

We loved our stay at the Astoria Vico. We arrived an hour early so went to explore and came back to find our cases already in our room. We looked out onto the main road so there was a certain degree of noise from the traffic if the window was open. It wasn’t enough to disrupt our sleep though and was more than worth it for the amazing view of Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples. The room itself was clean, nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable. There were a few cracks and chips if you looked for them but that’s to be expected from an old building. The staff were fantastic. We always got a warm welcome whenever we arrived back at night. A special mention needs to go to Luigi who always gave us a huge smile at breakfast every morning! Breakfast was delicious with plenty to choose from each day and the dining room was lovely and modern. The location of the hotel is perfect - a short walk takes you to the town centre where there are several nice restaurants, and a 30 second walk takes you to the train station where you’re only 5 stops away from Sorrento. The beach club linked to the hotel is a bit of a downhill trek but lovely when you get there. We’re glad we chose the calm of Vico Equense to come back to every night. We would recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of a stay on the Sorrento coast and we would love to return ourselves one day.

An AMAZING stay at Astoria Vico. Our room was clean, spacious and had a great view of the water. The location was excellent. Right next to the train station where you can visit the surrounding areas. Walking distance to wonderful restaurants.
The whole staff at the hotel were fantastic, very friendly and looked after us very well. A special thank you to Gabriela who helped us with reserving a driver, dinner/lunch recommendations and reservations. I highly recommend Astoria Vico and would definitely return.

Lovely small hotel, only 1 minute walk from station and very close to town centre. Trains to Sorrento and Pompeii. Lots of bars, cafes and restaurants nearby. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast buffet was delicious with lots of choice. Room was clean and comfortable.

Very clean place, great views, excellent breakfast and the view from there, very nice staff, train station one block away allows you to visit places like Sorrento, Pompei, Naples, within half hour. Only drawback is that downtown, 5 blocks away is small and there are not many places to eat around, you need to travel to Sorrento for many more options.

This is a wonderful small hotel. With stunning views over the bay, and Mount Vesuvius. From check-in to check-out the staff could not have been more helpful. Our rooms were ready when we arrived at around midday, although we were expecting them to be available from 2.00-3.00 pm.
Everything was clean and fresh.
The breakfast Buffet had a great variety of savory and sweet options, they even made us a packed lunch at not extra cost when we were leaving before breakfast started.
They offered information about trains, the station was less then a 2 minute walk away, trips and restaurants.
A fabulous little gem, in a fantastic location for transport links, hospitality and cleanliness.
Would highly recommend.

Vico Equense has been the highlight of my trip. Staying at the Astoria Vico was the icing on the cake. Rooms were large, views were beautiful, access to transport could not have been easier and the staff were friendly and helpful... oh, and the breakfast was magnificent.

Terrible experience! Hotel was very difficult to find because of bad signage. Parking was very difficult with a steep rocky hill to climb with no one to help you with your bags. Location was noisy, congested and smelly of fumes being next to the bus/ train station. Hotel was overpriced for what it was and we will definitely not be back

The staff, especially Flora and Flavia, were so helpful. The cleaning staff were friendly and efficient. The free breakfast AMAZING. We checked out earlt morning and they offered to pack us food! The VIEW of the bay and Mt. Vesuvius is so calming. There is a shared open-air balcony that is big and inviting where we met other travelers. Such a great place.

The customer service at this hotel was excellent. We chose this town because it has the bus stop and train stop literally right next-door for trips to amalfi and capri and Sorrento etc. we had to pay a toll fine and the girls at the front desk took care of all of it for us! Wonderful staff. Nice breakfast at the attached restaurant. Can’t beat location. Felt absolutely safe. I ran early morning hours!

Absolutely loved our stay here. It was such a convenient spot, located just steps from the Vico Equense train station (so easy access to Naples, Sorrento and Pompeii). The staff were incredibly helpful and even took the initiative to organise an early breakfast when we needed to leave early one morning for a tour. Rooms and bathrooms were extremely clean and spotless. Loved every moment and so glad we booked this place!

Clean, beautiful and not crowded!! Staff were wonderful. It’s a thirty second walk from the train station and from here you can enjoy Sorrento, Naples, Pompei and so much more. We loved that it wasn’t touristy. After coming from Rome we needed a break. Beach club was incredible. You can swim in the ocean. It’s spectacular. Do not hesitate to book here if you’re looking to explore Amalfi.

The rooms seem to be recently renovated, spacious and comfortable. The staff is super nice and very helpful. The breakfast was pretty good as well. The hotel is just a 2 minute walk from the station. The only complaint was the wifi was really weak and spotty. Overall, very happy with the hotel.

We stayed at Astoria Vico for 2 nights, we wish it was more! The breakfast was the best we had in Italy. Service was top notch, everyone was super helpful. We had a beautiful sea view room. Nothing could have beat that view! Vico Equense is a beautiful town, and we loved the quiet lifestyle there. Just a 12 minute ride to Sorrento to explore for the day. We highly recommend staying at Astoria Vico to avoid the Amalfi coast crowds, and enjoy the beauty of Vico Equense.

This property offered a breathtaking view and a lovely experience in a small Italian town. Access to the train was just steps away and the town offered so many amenities, dining options and lovely walking paths. The staff went out of their way to take care of us and even took the time to prepare take away packages including breakfast, light sandwich and fruit on two separate days because our tour left before breakfast opened for guests. Would highly recommend this hotel if visiting the Amalfi coast.

This was a perfect location for us. Older couple with moderate sized suit cases and very close to the train line for access to Sorrento Pompeii Naples. The staff was very helpful. Breakfast was provided with a few options, buffet. The restaurant was quite good on the days we didn’t feel like going out, however there are a few lovely restaurants in Vico Equense. Probably the only limitation for us, there was no lift, but manageable if on the 1st floor. An enjoyable stay which was not as glitzy or as expense as Sorrento

This hotel was perfect for us! With my rental car, I was concerned about driving in the area because of reports of horrible traffic, the ZTL limitations and parking challenges. What I loved about the location of the hitel, was that it I was able to Park my car easily (10 euro/day), the hotel is directly beside the train station (12 minutes to Sorrento), the hotel is more affordable than other areas, it has it's own amazing restaurant and the town itself is adorable! The hotel was immaculate, and the breakfast excellent. It was pretty much perfect.

If you are with a car know that the parking is about 6-7 minutes by walk(with charge).
No elevators at all.
We spent the night in a back room but we still heard the noise from the Main Street. The breakfast wasn’t good. The bread was old and felt like is from days ago and the coffee was worse-the worst one that I drink in years,very disappointing to drink this awful coffee in Italy

My husband and I stayed here for part of our honeymoon. Hotel has all you could need and is right next to the train station which made traveling around so convenient. The view of Mt. Vesuvius from the terrace is INCREDIBLE. Also we had major travel delays, and Antonio at the front desk was so helpful making sure we got to the hotel safely in the middle of the night. We definitely recommend this hotel!

The hotel was very small, but had all the amenities of a large resort, including free beach access, and breakfast. Our room had a beautiful balcony overlooking the sea, and Mount Vesuvius. The location was perfect, right beside the train station with service to Naples and Sorrento. Beware of the Circumvesuviana train however, as it is crowded and completely unreliable.

First and foremost the staff were superb. Attentive, friendly and extremely helpful.
The property was tastefully decorated throughout. The rooms minimal but very comfortable. The external shutters on the window aided a really dark room for sleeping.
The bathroom was small but adequate.
My grumbles... Noise in the hotel travelled. We were woken up numerous times by people talking, TV and toilets flushing.
And a big disappointment, Expedia listed this property as having a restaurant. This was a big factor in our choice of this hotel. Unfortunately, this is in incorrect. Breakfast is served but no restaurant for evening meals.

This hotel is a hidden gem! I would definitely recommend it! The outside of the hotel doesn't look much but inside is a different story. The hotel is very clean and modern throughout. The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. There is a terrace on the first floor which looks out at Vesuvius, it's beautiful. We had a room at the back of the hotel so our view wasn't great but we only paid for a cheaper room. The room itself was lovely and clean and cleaned everyday. The hotel is located in a great position as it is literally 1 minute walk to the train station. The train only takes 10 minutes to get to Sorrento. Lots around if you don't always feel like going into Sorrento though. We loved staying here and would recommend!

I found this hotel to be great value for money. It is in an excellent location, very close to the train station with regular trains to Sorrento, Pompeii etc. and has a communal balcony with a great view. I received a booklet on arrival with useful information including train and ferry timetable. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English and there was a good selection of hot and cold breakfast items. My room was clean and large, bathroom was tiny but as a solo traveller that didn’t bother me so much.

We could not have picked a better location to stay. First, the view from the hotel is outstanding. We had ocean view rooms and were also next to the second floor patio... what a great place to hang out. The room was really nice. Couldn't ask for more. The staff was outstanding and helped with everything we needed. There is a car park behind the hotel that offers a discount if you are staying. The town square is a 5 minute walk with a bunch of places to eat and drink. You have go to the University of Pizza for their Meter of Pizza.

We checked in quite late because of some delays in our travel plans and the front desk was supernatural accommodating even at such a late hour. They had turned the heat on so that we’d find the room nice and cozy, especially since it was quite a chilly evening. The view is so beautiful, overlooking the baubles of Naples and then Vesuvius!

Nice hotel with great view of the Bay of Naples

My boyfriend and I stayed here in late June this year and we were so pleased! The room was big and spacious, it was cool and clean and was perfect for us to come back to after a long trips to Pompei, Amalfi etc.
The hotels restaurant Antico Bagno, which is just a trip down the hill on the water was amazing! Fresh seafood, pasta and more I would highly recommend giving it a try we ate here 3 out of the 6 nights we stayed so we could get through the menu - the Octopus Salad was divine!
During the day the restaurant is part of the beach club that's also a part of the hotel, we got a discounted price on the rental chairs, we spent a whole day here relaxing in the sun and also had some great Panini's!
The staff at the front desk were also very helpful with train and bus timetables and even letting us use their printer to print out some tickets for the ferry to Capri!
Overall it is a great family owned hotel and we will definitely be back again!

Me and my wife are from India and we stayed in this hotel for 3 days/nights in October 2017 after spending a few days in Nice and whereabouts. This hotel was so much better in all respects than our hotel there and we were so pleasantly surprised as we selected it online.

The location was excellent - facing the sea and extremely convenient - 2 minutes walk from the train station and 5 minutes walk to the city center where several restaurants and shops are located.

Our room and attached bathroom were compact but very clean, and the towels were changed daily.

The breakfast was really good and for the scrambled eggs fresh and tasty.

The icing on the cake was the STAFF -
- the 2 ladies at the front office were exceptional - very pleasant and very efficient. They arranged for rental car for us and even did our entire execution of our return trip from Vico Equense to Rome and even coordinated with our Hotel in Rome.
- the gentleman on the night shift was also very warm and efficient.
- the person who served at the breakfast room also deserves a mention for making our breakfast a pleasant experience.

ALL IN ALL - ABSOLUTE VALUE FOR MONEY - HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

first week in October, a stay of 5 nights.
pros: very clean, comfy room, good breakfast.
cons: reported curtain was broken twice, both times we were told someone would fix it tomorrow. noone ever did. twice had to ask for toilet paper. toiletries not replenished over the five days. tea not replenished for five days. check about shuttles to the beach. none were available during our stay, though id suggest they'd say this is because we were out of season. Worst of all, woken at 6.30am every morning by people in the apartments above the hotel, children crying, tables and chairs being scraped over tiles. (the hotel is on the second floor of a six floor building). also on our last morning, reception decided to.start playing opera music very loudly from 6.45am.
We plumped for a deluxe room with sea view. this was the biggest possible waste of money.
I would not stay here again.

Disappointing!

This is a small boutique hotel which we chose as a base to visit the Amalfi Coast. The location is good with the train station is nearby but we found the hotel itself extremely disappointing. The rooms are clean but very small and both the beds and pillows are very hard. I asked Reception about the possibility of a softer pillow but there was nothing else available to guests, not even a children's pillow. Be warned, there is no fridge in the room and on a couple of nights we couldn't even get a bucket of ice as an alternative as the hotel had run out of ice by 7.00 pm. The room does have a safe but it's not very useful as it's not even attached to the wall and can simply be lifted up and removed from the room. The hotel is on a busy road and the air-conditioning is very noisy so it was difficult to get a good night's sleep. Breakfast was included but the hot selection in particular is very limited. I believe the rooms at the front of the hotel have a view of Mt Vesuvius, however, our room was on the side at the back and our view was a brick wall. The bathroom was very small and the shower didn't drain very well. We booked this hotel based on previous reviews but unfortunately our stay was very different and I could not recommend this hotel!

A great example of customer service.

This hotel is family run and the result is that you feel exteamly cared for. Their customer service is excellent.

We stayed for 2 nights So that we could visit Pompeii and Herculaneum.

The breakfast is superb and you get welcomed be a lovely gentleman dressed in a suit. Nothing is too much trouble. It sets you up for the day.

We ate a meal at their beach restaurant. It was perfect sitting out on the decking with the sea all around us and Vesuvius in the background. Again the food was some of the best we ate in Italy and the service very friendly.

Great views, shame about the busy road

This hotel has great views from the 'sea view' rooms of Mt Vesuvius - but the road below is busy 24/7 and despite the double glazing and shutters, the noise made it hard to sleep. We booked a 'superior double' room, one of the most expensive, but it was a tiny space, with barely enough room to walk around the bed. The shower didn't drain properly and the toilet didn't flush properly. The location is perfect for getting around as it is next door to the train station and bus station. Bed extremely uncomfortable (too hard) and only one pillow - no spares in the cupboard. The room was too hot without the air conditioning, but the system was too loud to leave on overnight. The breakfast is wide ranging but would benefit from more 'dairy / gluten free' options - it also doesnt start until 7.30am which meant we missed it on our last morning as we had an early start to the airport at 7am.

The staff were all amazing. They were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an excellent location if you plan to visit Sorrento.

A little Italian gem

A lovely hotel with fabulous views of Vesuvius from our room. The staff are very helpful and the hotel also has a private beach which you can use for free. They also provide a courtesy shuttle service to and from the beach. the restaurant on the beach is wonderful and again a shuttle service is provided free. The hotel is close to the train which makes it easy to visit all the sights along the coast. Much calmer and more 'Italian' than Sorrento. The bus from the airport also drops you across the street. The rooms are on the small side but the bed is very large and comfortable.

Great location , easy public transport to Naples, Sorrento and other local towns. Good local restaurants too and you can't beat the Hotel Astoria's complimentary bus to the beach, and sun beds

A special little place that is truly wonderful

Some of the rooms in Hotel Astoria are leaning on the smaller side (traditionally hotel size) however there are some rooms that are bigger. Depending on budget, I would recommend the larger room. Having said that the rooms are clean & modern. The arrangement between the hotel & beach bellow is excellent, the ability to reserved a beach lounge/s at the beach is a real bonus. A truly beautiful beach & surrounding area to watch the sunset (while dinning alfresco). Mount Vesuvius stands large across the water towards Naples, a brilliant background specifically at night when the lights come on and present a band of diamonds that flicker across the bay. You can sit on the parapet of the hotel and watch the spectacle, beautiful.

Wonderful time !!

Vico is a excellent hub for a visit to this area with transport by bus or train to Sorento or Napoli on the doorstep.
The Astoria Vico Hotel we found to be very clean with friendly staff who are always willing to help.
Cant wait to visit again !!!

Great hotel with lovely staff

Hotel was clean, modern, and great value for money. All of the staff were so helpful and always friendly, (reception, breakfast, cleaners) and helped us so much, especially helping arrange us some cheap, safe, and reliable transport late at night to keep us safe. Great area and location- in between Naples and Sorrento

The staff were excellent and very nice and helpful. The only discomfort was how small and tight the bathrooms were. But them again this is typical in Italia. Overall great place.
