Good location right on the lake and free bikes to use and the bike path is in front of the hotel. Our room has the lake view with a balcony, great view for sunset and sunrise. The room is spacious with a Japanese style sitting room that can be completely closed. The bathroom has an onsen style hot tub. The breakfast was average. Highly recommended

Nice clean expensive hotel with beautiful lake view. Food is just ok, there is no gym as advertised just an eliptical machine and a weights machine in a small corner in the basement. We booked 4 nights 2 rooms. After the second night we left because it rained day and night without stopping so it was hard to do much outdoors. The management did not want to do any kind of refund. We understand the policy but there is not much you can do there after couple days of stay with bad weather. Most hotels would refund at least something.

Peaceful property by the lake with easy access to bike lane/footpath that goes around the late. I enjoyed the morning hike and free bike rentals. However, there is no good F&B options in the immediate vicinity and closest cafe establishments are around 1KM away on foot. The hotel look worn and due for renovation. Great experience. Parking was easy right across the street. Very clean and convenient to everything. Breakfast was delicious with plentiful options. The kids enjoyed the arcade room and their tatami room bed. Staff was very helpful and arrived right away to help us with the bed when we requested it. We especially enjoyed the free bikes with children’s seats - it was so easy to bike along the boardwalk right outside, and our sons are already asking to go back.

This hotel is located next to the lake with free bicycles to ride around the lake. The bike way is just at the back of the hotel. The view room is excellent with a patio to sit. The bathroom also has lake view! The breakfast is excellent. It is also safe to walk to the city center via the walkway along the lake even when it is dark since there are lights along the walkway and not sharing the road with cars. Highly recommended!

Breathtaking view of the scenic Sun Moon Lake right from the hotel room was highlight of our stay. We took advantage of the free bike rental at the hotel. Best time for bike ride is early morning before the trail gets crowded and the weather gets hot. Also want to note the hotel free shuttle service. Our city bus missed our stop and dropped us off in the next stop quite far away. Impossible to walk with our luggages. I called the hotel and they arranged shuttle to pick us up.

The hotel is a distance from the pier. They do provide shuttle service as and when the driver is available to send you from hotel to the pier but if you were at the pier, you need to call them. They would not send car according to the shuttle schedule.
The hotel is right next to the lake but during my visit, the water level was low, so I couldn't really enjoy the lake ciew right from my balcony.
The room was big. With a tataimi sitting area. Toilet came with a big bath which you can enjoy bath with your whole family.
It is generally a good hotel to stay, just a little inconvenient for tourists who don't drive there.

12/20入住和洋房，沒有潮濕的問題。這裡的工作人員都非常nice，熱心幫忙我冷凍兩大袋水餃（真的很大袋，真是不好意思😅），期間我還把包包遺忘在B1的廁所就騎腳踏車去環湖了，工作人員也非常熱心的幫我找回並保管（超感激），從入住到Check out感到賓至如歸，很謝謝你們。
飯店有免費提供自行車，窗外景色非常美，即便天氣不是很好，依然讓人放鬆。

此飯店的軟體硬體都在水準之上, 重點是入住期間我們的車子有些狀況, 而飯店從主管到基層都很幫忙在處理, 並且非常有誠意並貼心的協助排除狀況直到圓滿.

在此我要特別讚揚有二,
第一是11/19入住在電梯遇到房務大哥, 一跟他提到我需要棉被, 他馬上協助我跟櫃枱登記並快速親送至客房!

第二是11/20一早協助泊車的年輕人, 非常盡責並認真, 居然還會換輪胎, 真的讓我大開眼界!!

飯店的和洋套房雖然舒適，可是隔音太糟，樓上的房客大聲踱步一整晚都聽得到，且大聲吵雜喧嘩至凌晨兩點，隔壁半夜看電視也聽得到，整個晚上無法睡覺，只好放棄早餐，選擇補眠。明明是禁煙飯店，客人卻在陽台吞雲吐霧，有美麗的湖景，開落地門想出去看夜景，差點被瀰漫在空氣中煙味嗆死，退房時，整個走廊都是煙味，非常糟糕的住宿體驗。

Great hotel for comfort, great service from staff.

I booked a suite for myself to celebrate my birthday, and a friend booked another room to celebrate with me.

The rooms were all very nice. They also had very good protocols in place for COVID-19 protection.

I don't speak Chinese well and they were able to accommodate me.

They had a buffet breakfast that was pretty good.

I would strong suggest upgrading some of the parts of the hotel though, to maintain the luxury of an upscale hotel. For example, the deep soaking tub has a TV, but the water proofing makes it difficult to use. Also, the lighting control panel is in the middle of the headboard of a king-sized bed. Sure, it's convenient when you're in bed, but some of the lights don't have any other controls, which makes it awkward to crawl over the huge bed to adjust lighting.

I couldn't give a perfect rating for cleanliness because the sofa in the living room had stains.

Booked the ‘Lake view’ ‘King suite’ for a couple of nights hoping for a nice escape. Here is my disappointment: the suite I was given was not in a corner location is as shown on hotels.com, nor actually a suite (separate rooms for living and sleeping). In fact the only discernible difference to the“standard double room” is the bed size. This is misleading. So don't waste your time to book the suite！The sofa is old，stained and uncomfortable. The lake view could more accurately be described in advertising as a partial lake view. l asked to leave one day early but was told this was not possible due to the hotels.com policy. Understandable but very disappointing. Breakfast not great if you like western food. Bath is great however.

It has a pretty good lake view. although it is in a bay so the view isn't the entire lake. we got a corner room so we can see further to the side. it was very good. there is a peninsula with a fancy hotel on the hill infront of the bay which blocks the view. but the night scene was nice to see the lights of the hotel. The free loaner bikes are decent to ride around the bike path. However, I couldn't find a larger size bike.
The bathroom tub is great. the bed was very comfortable. the only thing was that the sofa in the room has lots of stains. the facilities is aging and showing. it could use some refurbishment.

The room was beautiful and so spacious. The view from the balcony was excellent. The breakfast foods were delicious and had many, many choices. The hotel is about a five minute shuttle ride from all the shops and boats rides -- which I preferred because it was quiet while we were at the actual hotel. The hotel shuttle provided very qhick service. And I will mention that the water pressure for the shower and tub is also very good at this hotel (that is a rare thing at some hotels). I was very pleased with everything about this hotel. I will be staying at this hotel again.

Tired looking hotel in need of a face-lift

Hotel needs a fair bit of maintainence, not in pristine condition. Ventilation system needs to be improved as we get strong food odour at the lobby area. Gym is rather pathetic, with 4 different machines sharing a cubicle, and the ventilation is extremely poor. Room is spacious and fairly clean, but drapes have no blackout curtains.

A 4-Star hotel that evidently earned it's rating

Our 1-day stay in mid-December more than meets our expectations! The hotel was not crowded during our stay, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the room configuration was just pleasing and comfortable! We arrived early to take the free hotel bikes for an enjoyable ride around the lake (the sunny and cool weather helped too). We were giving a highest level room within our price category for a gorgeous lake view. We spent plenty of time on the balcony witnessing the change of light, and in the 2-person tub, also with the lake view. The separate tatami area was another pleasant surprise and much appreciated! We had dinner at the B-2 level restaurant. There were only 3 tables served, so it's quiet and nice, and the quality of the meal more than met our expectations. The free breakfast next morning was a lot better attended, and the buffet-style meal had great choices. This hotel deserve the 4-star it earns, and we will be back again!

Sun Moon Lake Hotel is about 15 minutes walk or 7-8 mins drive from Shuishe Visitor centre (place where you would arrive from Taichung). This is one of the 4-5 better hotels in SML if you have decided to stay near Shuishe side. The other option being Ita Thao side.

Only a few staff in this hotel were able to respond back in English but we were able to manage with Translate app. This hotel offers a free shuttle service to and from hotel to Shuishe pier every hour and it takes less than 10 minutes to reach either side. So if you decide to stay here, make sure you use that even when you arrive.

Breakfast Buffett spread was reasonable but vegetarian food options are very limited.

Rooms are clean, modern and well maintained. If you decide to book a room facing the lake - the views are spectacular. The other side faces the mountain. Don’t expect any complimentary upgrade to the room facing the lake.

The hotel has direct access to cycling track and they offer free bicycle for an hour. Scenery of track is spectacular.

The best part of this hotel was the staff and the service attitude. On the last day after check out we left our luggage at the front desk. when we came back to collect our luggage we were treated with same level of interest, courtesy and hospitality. I have never got such a good feeling even in some of the top brands across the world once you checkout.

Highly recommended and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Decent hotel if you don’t expect too much. Staff had some English skills and were sooooper helpful and nice (which is preferable to native-speakers who don’t care about the patrons). Good location and easy free parking make this a solid choice. We stayed in japanese-style rooms which faced away from the lake so I guess higher cost rooms likely have lake views and terraces.

Nice hotel on the lakeside, amid a famous bikeway

The hotel is in a good location. The staff are nice and helpful. Many tourist groups. The lobby does not have enough sofas or chairs for rest. It has the smell of Chinese restaurant. The room as clean but has an odd set up.
The breakfast buffet is ordinary. The food in the hotel restaurant is not satisfactory: taste was so so, some meat were too sturdy to bite.
The guests can rent bycicle from the hotel for one hour for free. But it doest not start until 7 am. So I can not ride it to go see sunrise along the lake.

Old and outdated hotel. Bad management. No central heat, room temp drop to 16C. Even no portable heater.
Have dinner in the hotel restaurant, food is really back and no service.

Great!

Helpful and friendly staff, spacious room, great breakfast!
But the location is rather quiet.
