We booked a room to celebrate our anniversary. We were greeted by a very friendly lady who checked us in and told us that charging our EV was free to their guests. She then explained our three breakfast options of an omelette, eggs cooked to order or biscuits and gravy, each with sides of potatoes and sausages. Milk or orange juice were other choices.

The room (#3) was large with a king sized bed and a large jacuzzi tub in the room. The bathroom was also larger than average with a walk in shower that had 2 shower heads. The room was air conditioned and had a coffee maker and a refrigerator.

Unfortunately, we arrived late after spending a long day at Yosemite National Park, so we were not able to fully enjoy everything this property had to offer.

Cosy, comfortable and spacious B&B half an hour's drive from Yosemite southern gate - and 90 minutes from Yosemite Village, a much cheaper option than some park accomodation if not camping. Also minutes from Lake Bass and gourmet Elderberry House restaurant. Staff super knowledgeable and helpful with planning Yosemite visits.

We had a wonderful three days at the Hounds Tooth Inn. The facility had a great comfortable, low-key vibe. Tammy and Melinda were friendly and very helpful. And in addition to a great room, the breakfast was tasty, the evening wine tasting was enjoyable, and the location was very close to not only Yosemite, but Bass Lake and the cool Yosemite Jazz Train.

Excellent hospitality in a peaceful setting. I saw wild bunnies while drinking my coffee on the patio. The outside of the inn and the dining area are very cute. Unfortunately, our room had a strong musty smell. This is likely due to the carpeting surrounding the jetted bathtub. The tub and tiles are dated and in need of update.

A perfect turn off Hwy.41

We were in dire need of a place to stay at nighttime since we have two littles and were having car problems. I believe we had to pay $50 for a rollout bed which I think is a little ridiculous, but they were very accommodating otherwise.
The woman at the front desk was so kind, and in the morning had the handy-man come over to help us. He fixed our car issue which was a blessing, and the breakfast was delicious!

The only thing is that the hot tub that came with the room took hours to fill due to the pressure of the water being so low. Maybe some maintenance is needed to be done. The property is very nice. I got the queen suite with a “jet” tub but unfortunately the tub did not have jets and the water pressure was so low that it took about 40 minutes to fill 1/3 of the way and by then the hot water ran out. We made the best of it and enjoyed it the best we could. The staff was extremely friendly and the breakfast served was okay which was served 7 to 9 am. It’s very peaceful there and although the tub was a bit of a disappointment we had a relaxing and peaceful weekend. The next time we want a quick and close to home getaway we will definitely revisit the Hounds Tooth Inn.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Houndstooth Inn while we were traveling to Yosemite. Overall, our experience was good, but I wouldn’t say it was great. The water pressure in our room was very low. So low that I didn’t even bother trying to wash my hair the 3 nights we stayed there. The breakfast was okay, but the eggs seemed like they were over the powder variety instead of fresh. The staff was very kind and accommodating. We appreciated the quaintness of Houndstooth Inn. They also have a variety of games that you can use during your stay. We would consider staying at Houndstooth Inn again but would probably explore other options first.

Really enjoyed this bed and breakfast spot near Yosemite. The best part was the breakfast buffet and the wine tastings in the early evening, both are tasty, plus the staff was super friendly. A few things that could be improved upon was the air conditioning unit, at night the room was either warm and stuffy or super cold from the AC, it was hard to find an acceptable balance. Also our TV didn’t work the first night and we later discovered it was because the TV cable is connected in one of the guest rooms and they had unplugged it unknowingly. It was kindof humorous but at the same time maybe a sign should be installed informing people perhaps? And my final complaint is the fact that we didn’t have a table in our room, I never really knew how much I enjoyed having a table in hotel rooms until I stayed here and was struggling to find areas to place my cups and plates that we brought up from the dining area. We were told by one of the staff members that the new owners planned on expanding the property and will build over 100 small cabins, so next time we come and visit, maybe things will have improved so much that we can give them five stars!

The picture of the room with our reservation link isn’t the room we received, but was still comfortable. The broken chair in the room should be replaced at this price point and there wasn’t a table in the room, so the only place to sit and read was on the bed. At this price point and for the size of the room, there should be a comfortable place place to sit and read with good lighting. Very friendly staff.

Disappointed to have to give a negative review, but would really like to avoid other guests booking and not getting what they paid for. Avoid room 2 and I would advise to check first if booked in another room. Paid a premium for king room with tub, could not fill it as the water temperature was so weak and water only mildly warm. So disappointed after 5 mile hike had wanted a bath. Additionally lights above the bed broken, my husband managed to fix one. Light hanging off it’s fixing in shower. Shower handle so loose could not turn off without getting sprayed with cold water. Carpet threadbare and horribly dirty. I informed reception/Latino lady / she just tried to brush me off until I showed her the photos. Such a shame as breakfast room was lovely, nice glass of wine complimentary in the evening. C’mon though, don’t sell luxury and a tub if that’s no longer on offer.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t LOVE about this property! The front desk team of Myra and Tammy were second to none, friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. Carlos’ breakfasts were simply incredible, the frittata was mind blowing! The room was very comfortable and clean. After 10 miles of hiking each day the jacuzzi tub was a welcomed way to wind down. Property was quiet and we slept great each night. The evening happy hour was so FUN! We met all sorts of folks and couldn’t have had a better time. Can’t wait to book another stay!

Weird and disappointing

Our stay was strange and disappointing. The hotel lost power and water for 8 hours in the middle of winter. This meant there was no heater and no flush toilets. When we asked the front desk for an update, they just shrugged and said they’re “not too sure”. The manager later said this happens all the time. It seemed strange to not have a backup generator if this was a regular occurrence. They were constantly running out of dishes at the breakfast and wine hour. For a 12 room hotel, it would seem practical to invest in a set of 24 of everything - but every time we went to the front desk they were completely out of plates, mugs, water glasses and wine glasses. The ice machine was broken and the front desk acknowledged there was nothing they could do. It felt like an unaccommodating experience toward the guests and not worth the price.

The property was very beautiful, close to town. Nice and quiet, the room was spacious. We had reserved a room with a fireplace and a hottub inside, which was very well priced for such a luxurious room. There was morning breakfast, where they make you food to order, and in the evenings they had wine and snacks.
We loved it so much we immediately extended our stay another night.
Location was close to town but not walking distance. Approximately 30 miles to Yosemite NP, but since we went in the winter we had to go the longer route (approx 1hr30min).

We went for the privacy and Hot tub, only problem was that the hot water wasn’t working right the evening we checked in, so we tried waiting for water to warm up but finally gave up.. water was back to normal the next morning but by that time we had no intentions of getting in.. The bed was comfortable, we were fine with that. However, we did not have hot water (on a rainy and snowy day) for 2 of the 3 days there. Mayra was very rude when questioned about it and didn’t seem to believe us whatsoever. I’ve never made a hotel complaint but needed to at this point. Mayra didn’t realize we could hear her talking to an Expedia representative (we were supposed to be on hold but weren’t ) when she told them we weren’t being truthful essentially…unbelievable ! Spending close to $800 for 3 nights should at least warrant hot water, wouldn’t you think???

We stayed here last year and loved it! The food was amazing and so was the staff! The breakfast this year wasn't up to standards, the bacon was under cooked, and we didn't have as many choices as we did last year. We liked it better when the food was cooked to order. This might sound strange, but the toilet paper was 1 ply. If I'm paying $400 a night for a room, I would expect better quality toilet paper. The staff was pleasant but not as outgoing as the staff from last year. Also, the grounds looked unkept and lacking any fall color which would really make this bed n breakfasts stand out.

My husband and I came here to celebrate our 6 year wedding anniversary and SO very glad we did. It’s so cute, clean, cozy and conveniently located! It was our first time going to Yosemite and we couldn’t help falling in love with the small, quaint and charming town of Oakhurst too. We definitely felt like we were far, far away from the hustle and bustle life in SF! We loved absolutely everything from the friendly locals, delicious smoked bbq to of course the amazing sites, Sequoia trees and
Sugar Pine train ride around Yosemite. Everything was absolutely perfect and went off without a hitch, BUT….what we really, truly loved the most was the reception hour with the amazing host Tammy!!! She is just awesome and so warm, caring, down to earth and attentive! I called her our mama bear! We almost left to have dinner elsewhere but thanks to Tammy and some nice folks we met at the reception hour in their cozy living room in the lobby, we stayed and enjoyed the rest of our anniversary there until 10 PM. We had so much fun that we lost track of time! I am so grateful that they offer this amazing and generous amenity and hope the owner never does away with it as it’s truly the reason people love staying at bed and breakfasts like these that still exist. They make you feel at home and never wanting to leave! The breakfast is hands down the best food thanks to their awesome chef Carlos! All in all, it was a the best decision we’ve made and will definitely be back! Thank you Tammy! :)

We stayed at the Hounds Tooth Inn while visiting Yosemite. The Inn was delightful! Our room was comfortable, nicely decorated, and featured a fireplace and jetted bathtub. The staff is extremely nice and accommodating to requests. The Inn is very close to the south entrance of the park and convenient to shopping and restaurants. The parking includes chargers for EVs. The grounds of the Inn are beautiful. We will definitely stay there again...highly recommend!

Service and happy hours were excellent but I wouldn't stay again unless they were improved the following issues :

1. The quality of bed sheet and cover was bad! The fabric was pilling, the hand feel was rough. I couldn't sleep well during my stays because of those bad quality.

2. Breakfast was included. The 2nd morning we went to breakfast around 8am but the regular coffee was running out of stock already, seriously!

3. The main reason we booked this hotel because of the jet bathtub. It looked nice and big but the pressure of water from faucet was too slow. It only filled up 1/4 bathtub after one hour water running. Turned out we had to wait 3 hours for the water level reaching the jet. That was time-consuming.

I was looking for a place to stay between Yosemite and Sequoia/Kings Canyon parks. There are many choices but most looked overpriced for low quality. I used my insight to choose Hound’s Tooth inn. I was a bit disappointed with our so called queen suite, room 5. The room is located above the dining and kitchen area, you can hear conversations from other guests and the employees. House cleaning missed a dirty hand towel hanging in the shower, not good. After a day of Yosemite hikes, my wife was looking forward to a nice bath, however the tub took over an hour to fill, it was after 10pm before she can bathe. The water flow is the same flow rate as a vanity faucet, not good. Attention to detail was also amissed, no cookies were available during the evening, the coffee machine didn’t work in the dining area, and no crackers with the appetizers. When you pay close to $300/night the little details should be included. The bed in the advertised queen suite is not a queen bed, it felt like a full size. My wife and I are small in stature but the bed felt cramp. The front desk people were great, unfortunately they couldn’t remedy any of our issues.

During our 3-night stay we had an outstanding experience, there were so many things we loved about the Hounds Tooth Inn. From the warm welcome with the little note and fruit tray in the room, to the reception, most especially the fabulous breakfasts every morning. The quality of the food and the presentation was simply outstanding. Everyone we encountered was professional, polite, courteous and more than willing to help with small requests. We stayed in room 9 (Deluxe King with fireplace) and enjoyed it. As a very frequent traveler we were so excited to have found this perfect little gem of a hotel and already made plans to return with friends.
This all came to an unfortunate end when on Friday evening other guests checked in next door and around 9:20pm, bedtime for us after a long day of hiking, a terrible, disturbing and ongoing noise was coming from the other room for the next 2 hours. The noise was so loud and unpleasant, literally made the wall behind our TV vibrate. We finally figured out that the noise was resonating from the whirlpool bath tub next door, sharing the wall to our room!!
While we have to accept inconsiderate fellow guests who party at full volume into the wee hours, it is not acceptable, nor excusable that their room feature should be infringing on the quality of our stay to the point that we could not get a decent night’s sleep in our room. We enjoyed our one-night stay here. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and made to order. The young women in the office when we arrived were rude, unfortunately, and said they would charge us $75 for checking in 19 minutes early. We found out later they were untrained and/or temporary workers. The other staff were polite and accommodating. The hotel was nice, but no elevator, so keep that in mind. It's right next to the highway but the room was quiet. The surrounding area is pretty, and it's a short distance to Bass Lake. Overall, I would recommend the place.

Comfortable room, excellent service, great stay.

My wife and I stayed at the Hounds Tooth Inn for four nights and sincerely enjoyed our stay. The inn’s location is good for day trips into Yosemite and the staff was outstanding in their customer service. The daily breakfast was quite a bit nicer than we were expecting and the chef was very thoughtful in accommodating our (hopefully modest) requests. The room was clean, bright, and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again given the opportunity.

Great check in. Chocolate covered strawberries and wine & snacks were very nice as we went over details with Derrick. The room was very beautiful and laid out well. The water however was not hot. We tried to get another room and none were available

Amazing B&B, spacious room, great staff

Beautiful rooms, clean and spacious. The breakfasts were an extremely pleasant surprise as they were custom made by a chef and delicious. We rarely eat the breakfasts at hotels we stay at and even brought backup food but we had the breakfast every day here. The staff was friendly and accommodating, even bringing back out the charcuterie plate after it was taken away when I came back for late seconds.

Nice, clean, quiet place close to Yosemite

Nice quaint hotel close to Yosemite. The breakfast and the wine and cheese plate were great and very nice touches. The room was decorated nicely and very comfortable. There isn't anything within walking distance but it is just a five minute drive back into town. Would definitely stay there again.

Overpriced bed & bath. Booked it to spend my birthday and to spend this day in a good place. But the service is terrible. The lady on reception was very rude and broke my birthday mood. Be aware of additional charges they make on you. They said that it was a weed smell in my room, but we didn’t smoke anything in the room. They charged us additional $150 for the things we never did the lady on front desk was super super rude. I worked in hospitality bussines, and wanted to get a best service in my birthday, that’s why I booked an overpriced place in order to get a good service. But it was the worst experience in my life. Stay away from this place!!!
