I have to say this was the most disgusting property I have stayed at in some time. Since there were no other rooms available to stay for over an hour away from Peach Fest, we were compelled to stay in this filthy, squalid, unkempt, falling apart property. Cigarette burns in the bedclothes. Molding separating from walls, broken safe, broken falling to pieces furniture, and no maid service after four nights made this property one of the worst I have ever stayed at. A true zero-star hotel.

Place is a dump…., where to start…, the so called pull thru( you know the one you pass through right at the entrance door before you go park) well guess that is the front desk guys personal parking spot so you have to back up and go around you can go that way… got my key and was told to go around back… so I did so onto the room as soon as you open the door this stench smacks you in the face … grab out the key card swipe swipe swipe finally the second key works the room doesn’t smell but! It needs torn down or totally renovated…. Two tvs in the room why oh only one works …. Fridge is hotter then the room all furniture is chipped, ok it looks like they picked it up from the dump seriously. The desk and chair OMG the chair was torn up with duck tape on the seat…. Not to mention the not so omfg what did they do, wait I don’t want to know any more I think the room is rented by the hour! Stay away!!!

We didnt actually stay! We reserved a room, walked in and within 10 minutes we were out!
As soon as you walked in all you could smell was pot and holes in the doors. Garbage bags left in the halls.
Once in the room we looked at the beds that had cigarette burns and stains all over. The blankets were stained and had white gunk hardened on it. Fruit flies were in the bedding as well.
Then ultimately the other people in the hotel were loud and screaming profanities at their children.
Altogether it was dirty and not a welcoming place! We left within 10 minutes!

First room was dirty. The halls smelt like smoke, and just disgusting. When I opened the door, I saw roaches and bugs crawling around. The floors and tables were dirty. Pillow cases had stains. I went back and asked for another room. The other room was a little cleaner, but still very disgusting. A/C didn’t even work. Avoid this place at all cost. Ended up getting a refund immediately.

We did not stay but moved to another hotel. The room was dirty. Hair, plastic wrappers and dog kibble on the floor. Sticky substance on bathroom vanity. Pillows used in one bed. No TV remote. Unacceptable. Felt bad for the receptionist who was very apologetic and gave us a full refund.

This was the dirtiest room I have ever slept in. Sheets were stained and covers on both beds had cigarette burns. The door on a cabinet had been ripped off the hinges. The shower curtain was moldy and the bathtub faucet was broken and dropped. The back of the door looked like a set from a horror movie. It was a crack house without the luxury of drugs to make you not care about the filth.

I will never stay here again. I should have read the reviews but was in a rush and because of graduation weekend, so many other hotels were double the price. Should have been a red flag. The check in area was dirty. The room was “non-smoking” but it smelled like smoke so bad and I found ash on the nightstand. The floor was sticky, there was mold in the bathroom, hair on the toilet seat, and there was PLYWOOD nailed to the bathroom floor by the shower. The man at check-in made me pay $2 to “insure” my items up to $5k if the safe was broken into (sketchy) but the safe didn’t even work. There were burn holes in the comforter and I’m not even sure if the sheets were changed. The room above us had people stomping around all night long and into the morning. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable and probably 30 years old. And the air conditioner barely worked. The only positive was there weren’t any bed bugs and the tv worked. I would have gotten my money back if I could have. I probably would have been more comfortable sleeping in my car. Never again. Seriously do not stay here.

Do yourself a favor and never stay here. This place should be torn down. I can't believe Econo Lodge has their logo on the building. I was yelled at and followed for asking for extra towels, the mold and mildew was all over the bathroom, the whole building reeks of weed and smoke, the floor was all sticky in my room, burn holes on the blankets, along with dogs barking all night. It was definitely the worst place I've ever stayed at, and the shadiest...

Absolutely the nastiest room I have ever stayed in. No hot water, which we didn't realize until the morning. Floors literally soft and about to fall in! Burn holes in all the covers, blankets, pillow covers, and drapes. Didn't complain until I went to get coffee that morning and was cussed out by the front desk clerk, who honestly was acting like a drug addict. I could go on and on, but I am going to start my vacation and don't have time for this.

Oh my word. I have stayed in some low-cost hotels before, but this was the worst place I have ever been. First, none of the outside doors were locked or had a way to use your key to enter. MAJOR security risk. Second, the bedding/curtains/shower curtain all either had holes or were dirty. Third, the connecting door between our room and the next was open when we arrived, which is not a huge deal. But! The lock was broken and the only way the door could be locked was to use the lever at the top. Finally, there was a red stain on the wall. We went to the Waffle House for breakfast after and were telling our waitress (who was WONDERFUL) about our experience. My friend said - 'there was a red stain on the wall. It looked like spaghetti sauce.' She said - that's not spaghetti sauce.....that place is known for being a crime scene...... Not as important, but still irritating - When we booked, the website said the price included a 'free breakfast' for two. No breakfast in sight. Not even coffee or juice. The manager was VERY rude when we left our keys. We didn't ask for a receipt, but he clearly was not happy we had made reservations on hotels.com. He curtly said (to our backs) that we could get a receipt on the website. The ONLY bright spot in this was the nice young woman who checked us in at night. She was competent and courteous. AVOID THIS PLACE

I have to say it was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at and I have traveled a lot. The service was terrible and the hotel was dirty. The pictures posted on hotels.com website does not match the hotel. Said they had a full continental breakfast and they offered nothing. Room was dirty, the chairs were all stained, TV had big black holes in the screen, toilet didn’t flush right and there were black mold stains on the curtains in the bathroom. Would have stayed at another hotel but unfortunately everything was booked and we had a late check in I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

It's was good. I'll be back, my party stayed at the OYO hotel, the day before, and let me tell ya, I have no clue how management there even gets an occupancy permit for that place.
Take my word it travelers, don't book there.
I booked a suite, incredibly small, receptacles not working, no even small kitchen area had a microwave which couldn't be used. Dirty inside, and the plug for it didn't have power.
Toilet was clogged upon arrival, took nearly 4 hours for maintenance to arrive, pipes under bath sink leaked, room Incredibly old.
Felt like we were staying in a 100 year old mobile home.
No cellular service , if you have Verizon. Extremely slow to no wifi
I had booked two days there, booking was cancelled later that night, still waiting for a partial refund. Checked out next day.
We couldnt stay there any longer.
Way to frustrating and aggravating.
Advise----Stay elsewhere. Especially if your like me, and on the job for crazy hours and shifts.
Your going to be way too tired to put up with that property.

Pay the extra few dollars it would be worth it. This place is a little scarey. From broken lock on the door to broken outlet plugs. Spider webs in the corner ceilings sticky floors and dirt that you can wipe with you hand on the ac/heater which did not work prperly. Also the building and room smelled of Marijuana. This is a state that its not legal in and throughout the day it got stronger then weaker over and over. I can't even talk about the service....needless to say not good.

When I arrived, front desk seemed bothered when I asked about how to get to the room. Terrible experience. Leak in bathroom, tv not working, no one to reach at front desk about the tv. Sheets with cigarette holes, it’s a no smoking room. Outdated furniture. Nothing like the rooms they pictured. Bed broken. Alarm rang at 6 am.

There is nothing positive about this place

Pictures did not represent the true condition of the property and accomodations. Interior was dark dingy, dirty, no security(as in doors from outside did not lock to prevent non paying customers from entering the hallway).
Room ok except for the wood bolted to bathroom floor to cover who knows what and the burn holes in the sheets.
Then, outside in the pool area were discarded mattresses and carpeting. I can't believe the price charged for this bad of a place.

Awful hotel.

This hotel is awful. Very old and run down. Our first room had black mold all around the bathtub as well as cockroaches running around. We requested a new room which was a bit cleaner but the shower faucet was broken. Also, the noise level all night long was awful. Doors to the outside were never locked so people were coming in and out all night long. They weregoing to a room down the hall from us, banging on the door and then leaving shortly after arriving. Not sure what they were doing.... but know it was probably not good and definitely was not a safe feeling.

Only needed a place to sleep for a few hours before going to a festival at the mountain, so I knew I wasn't staying at a 5 star hotel or anything. If I had to choose one thing to critique I would recommend they get new sets of sheets, as the ones on the beds appeared \"clean\" but were very, very stained and clearly quite old. We just slept in our sleeping bags on top of the bed. Bathroom was very clean and cared for.

It was easy to find and not far from several eating places. the room was spacious and had lots of amenities. I especially loved the idea that when you walked into the bathroom, a sensor turned on the light and fan. No fumbling in the dark. I had read a lot of bad reviews, but I was pleased with everything. They were doing a lot of cleaning while we were there.

Its a $50 hotel, so it's $50 quality

I was going to a music festival, where I planned on drinking a lot and I just needed a bed to sober up on. I booked the cheapest hotel I could find, and I got exactly what I expected. Old rooms & decorations, gross bed spread, and broken air conditioning (although it was still pretty cool in the room). But this was EXACTLY what I was expecting so I wasn't disappointed. I slept like a baby and drove home the next day!

Good place to stay

I was in town for work. If you are looking for a place to stay that doesn't cost much, I would recommend this place. The room has an iron and ironing board which is good. It also has a coffee machine and a hair dryer. The continental breakfast is good and has a selection of bagels, muffins, and cereal to choose from. Only problem I had was the door. I had to slam the door to close it. The second night I was there I couldn't get in my room. I had to go to the front desk so they could reactivate my key.

Best Bang for your buck in Scranton.

I stay here regularly for business. It's clean, the staff are all very nice. Great water pressure and the TV always works. The fridge and microwave are nice. I've stayed all over Scranton. This has everything I want and nothing I dont. I don't like the vast majority of \"complimentary\" breakfasts that just jack up the price of a room by 20-30 dollars. This place is the cheapest in town and by far the best value. It's convienent to town and 81. It's always my first choice.

Although the motel was off the main highway and a little hard to find by sight, the GPS unit got us right to the front door. The motel was very clean and the continental breakfast was very filling with plenty of tables in the breakfast area.

Wow. All we wanted was to sleep. Didn't want to pay extra for unused pool and breakfast. We wanted the bare minimum and figured the price was right for an economically depressed town such as Scranton. It was scary. It looked like it was out of business. (It should lose it's right to Eco Lodge franchise). We booked it sight unseen. We went in to check it out and then left for dinner. My husband asked if I left anything in the room. I said no. He said good we are not going back\" Looks like a compound for anti-social or perhaps homeless housing. Just gross!

Bad Customer Service

I'll start with positives. It's really close to Montage Mountain, food, and gas which is great to have everything you need within a couple of minutes. Also the price was great, and the room a bit bigger than I expected.

But that is literally it for good things. We went to a concert and after getting dinner it was after 1 am. Nowhere does the website say that there's a night window from midnight to 6. We were exhausted and rang the bell for a few minutes before the front desk person showed up, and we were almost ready to leave because the place looked abandoned and no one was answering the phone. We finally get checked in, ask for a late (noon) checkout (which the clerk said was fine), and go to our room. The room was big and clean but there were tons of noticeable damages around the inside of the hotel.
So we asked for a later checkout cause my husbands on an overnight shift schedule and the later he can sleep the better. Housekeeping pounds on our door at 11am, and when we say we're not ready yet we get a call from front desk asking if we're staying another night. Husband was already up between having to talk to housekeeping and front desk so we just checkout. If I hadn't already paid in the reservation, I wouldn't have stayed there. It's good in case of an emergency need but I don't think people will be happy if it's a reserved experience.

The hotel seems old and needs some work. But the smell of incense was overwhelming in the hall and the room. Luckily we had a smoking room, so we smoked a lot!! to cover up the smell.

This hotels location is located in a very creepy area. Staff was some what helpful when we could find someone. Waited 15min at check in counter for someone to come help me. Bathroom floors were extremely sticky. The room an hallways smelled like moth balls. Hotel was not inviting at all. Location was horrible it was off some beaten path.

Econo Lodge Scranton PA

Quick, easy check-in through the Expedia Booking. Without GPS location may be a little hard to find. Lots of well lit parking with good access to our room. Hallway tired and air filled with a strong overpowering scent. Room was spacious, clean, and welcoming; the bed a little hard, but I loved the shower. Breakfast was bare minimum for a continental offering.

Stayover on the way to DC.

Fine for a one night stay. The room was really clean, but I'm sure that's because they were just starting to clean it when we got there, so they took some extra time. For the cheap rate, it's fine for a night or two if you don't plan on staying there all day.

This property is old and neglected. Broken and abused furniture, lights that didn't work, linens were thread bare. Requests (with tips) for more towels did not happen. We would not stay there in future.

Blood / Yellow stains on towels.

Almost all towels in bathroom had reddish/yellow stains on them. They certainly looked like blood stains. Bed sheets had the same stains. Shower knob came in my hand when I pulled it to open the water, I had to install it back myself for them (had to screw it in). Blankets had about 8 big burn holes in them. I had taken the towels down to the owner and asked him if this is normal thing with this hotel with stains, he said no and thats all. He did say to talk to expedia as I booked through them. So I called expedia and unfortunately they had to refund me the money, lost business because of the poor hotel qualities. It is extremely un hygenic and surprised still how expensive per night it was. Never ever again going near that place!

close to venues

Stayed three nights. Cleanliness was sub-par at best. Did not require any service. Live in owners had kids and dog running about in hallway all hours of the night during our stay. Hard to get sleep. Sofa and chair in room had stains on covers, mini frig frosted with ice. No wonder this was so cheap. Would not stay here again. Wonder why it would be recommended by Hotel.com. Need to try a more reliable web site next time.

convenience to airport.

Stayed one night due to proximity to airport. Came in from NY. Worked well for me. Seems like new management that is struggling to fix up an old old place. I expect it to become progressively better and I will definitely stay again.
