It's a beautiful place... with open space where you see the mountains and vineyard. Great place to rest and relax. Very welcoming and approachable staff. Beautiful people.
It is sad that I only have a night with Wedgeview... Will definitely book this place again for a longer stay...

Wedgeview was the perfect starting point for our South African journey. It was about 20 from Cape town airport and a very convenient distance to Stellenbosch wineries. We spent two nights here to recover from jet lag and to explore stellenbosch. We loved everything about this property and its staff!

Very relaxed and comfortable, staff and management very welcoming. There were a few maintenance issues, eg badly cracked wall tiles in the bathroom, with exposed edges.

Lovely Winelands stay

Lovely stay in the Winelands at this countryside hotel. Rooms were lovely , lots of attention to detail. Bed was like sleeping in a cloud. Gorgeous surroundings.

Such a lovely property. Very homey — esp. with the thatched roofs — and the fireplace. We appreciated the welcome drink. One caution is there seems to be missed communications between Expedia and staff regarding reservations. Enjoyed the views, the food and the friendly staff!

Wir sind für 2 Nächte in diesem Hotel geblieben. In Bezug auf die Hotelbewertungen und die Sternebewertung. haben wir andere Erwartungen an das Hotel gehabt, als wir dieses tatsächlich vorgefunden waren.
Die Anlage war ziemlich heruntergekommen, die Pools dreckig und die Einrichtung des Zimmers (außer des Badezimmers) entsprach dem vor 30 Jahren.
Nichtsdestotrotz war das Hotelpersonal sehr zuvorkommend.
Wir haben zuvor ebenfalls 2 Nächte in einem anderen 5-Sternehotel in Stellenbosch verbracht, und hatten uns vom
Wedgeview ein ebenfalls so guten Standard erhofft.
Zusammenfassend können wir dieses Hotel nicht empfehlen, wenn man sich ein 5-Sternehotel wie nach europäischen Standard erhofft.

I never write reviews but I had to this time. Amazing service. Beautiful place. So glad I booked here, my husband was thrilled. We had a wedding close by and decided to make a weekend of it. We swam, had some local beer and enjoyed their delicious food. The staff were all so helpful. Unforgettable. Thanks!

We have stopped here before and it retained its high level of comfort and service. Set in the vineyards just outside of town the surrounding view over the mountains is stunning.The room overlooking the gardens and the mountain view was large and well appointed with easy chairs, air conditioning, desk, usb charging points by the bed. The bathroom is huge, with 2 sinks, shower and bath. The pool and gardens are well kept and the pool lovely and warm. The breakfast is probably one of the best we have had with a huge selection of fresh fruit, bread, pastries, cheese and meat. Great selection of juices and the the hot selection is nice and varied, from full English, wraps to smoked salmon etc. Lunch menu looked adequate though we never got the chance to actually try it out. My wife had a spa treatment which she enjoyed very much. The evening turn down service was very nice touch as well.
Few niggles about the room, a kettle is supplied but nowhere really suitable to put, the floor was the best I could find, desk supplied but no desk light so the lighting by the desk was poor, the only international plug socket was behind a chair but only niggles really.

Originally booked a vineyard view room thinking it has a balcony but I was mistaken. Hotel kindly let me change to room in the main block which had a sitting area outside and a great view. Enjoyed sitting in the garden and taking in the views.

One to return to

My second stay, and it was longer than the first which tells you all you need to know. I also hope it wasn't my last.
It really is a delightful place. Well run, beautiful grounds and breathtaking surroundings. The breakfasts are excellent and I couldn't fault the food on the two evenings I ate in.

Nice intimate country hotel in the vineyards.

A quiet country retreat set in the heart of a vineyard. The grounds are well maintained and give a very pleasant setting. There are 2 pool areas to relax as well as outdoor undercover decking area, there is also communal lounge areas. Breakfast is a mix of continental and then cooked to order served outside if the weather is suitable. We were upgraded for which we were most grateful to a large superior room with 2 outside sitting area, views over the vineyards to the far hills. The room itself had a king bed and settee but strangely no chair for the desk. The bathroom had shower and bath. There were spa facilities that seemed a reasonable price but we didn’t have time to use. We would stay again.

A lovely little slice of the winelands

This is such a wonderful retreat. Nestled down the dirt road of a working vineyard, this country house is quiet and modest yet quite luxurious. The perfect place to be spoiled with relaxation, delicious food and wine and spectacular views. My stay was short so I hope to return someday to really relish this place and its slow life away from it all. The sunset over the mountains and countryside is worth the trip alone!

Beautiful country house hotel!

I was fortunate enough to be upgraded to the magnificent \"honeymoon suite\"! The view is stunning, the gardens and atmosphere wonderful and the staff efficient and attentive. I couldn't have hoped for more. This is a wonderful hotel to use as a base in exploring the Stellenbosch winelands. I wholeheartedly recommend it and will certainly be staying there again in the future.

Fantastic 2 night stay here in the what can be only described as the biggest ever hotel room I have ever been in! Bed was amazing - shower was sublime and the breakfast was awesome.

Derive was fantastic and they advised us on the best stellenbosch had to offer!

Wedgeview is in a lovely setting with beautiful gardens. Breakfast on the terrace in the morning was delightful and the service was first rate. We made good use of the small, but well equipped gym. We had an issue with the air conditioning and our room was far too warm.

Perfect Honeymoon hotel!

We stayed here for a few nights on our honeymoon and loved the hotel... Amazing suite (although very warm in summer as air con is limited), hotel grounds are beautiful with a great swimming pool, the staff cannot do enough to help and will ensure whatever you want to do or see in Stellenbosch happens. We can't wait to go back!!

Wedgeview really took great care of us during our stay. They even arranged a car service for our dinner plans for the evening. With all the wine tasting... the last thing you want to do is drive. Breakfast was amazing. We really enjoyed the staff at Wedgeview -- super friendly and bend over backwards to make sure we were happy.

We drove along a track through the vineyard and were unsure what we were coming to. Once inside the gate we were warmly greeted, offered a complimentary drink and shown around the hotel which is made up of a few buildings. Our room over looked the vineyard which was a stunning view and also very private. The staff were the most warm and friendly people we have ever experienced in a hotel. Superb, this added to the amazing experience. They could not do enough for you.
The hotel needs 48hrs notice to cook a meal so they booked us a restaurant that evening. We went to a five star hotel in Stellenbosch. and had the most amazing restuarant experience, fabulous.
Breakfast was served on the terrace in their beautiful gardens. It was our last day so we walked around Stellenbosch and spent the afternoon relaxing around the pool on their beautiful loungers.
In the evening the had a barbeque so we booked for that. Again we couldn't fault anything. We look forward to going back again.

This is the nicest place in South Africa

This is a phenomenal country house which has just a spectacular view and atmosphere. Their morning buffet was the best in all hotels i have ever had in south Africa. It was convenient to all the vineyards yet secluded enough to enjoy the peace of the country. I only wish we had stayed longer but alas could not. When I go back to stellebosch I will definitely stay here!

The drive to the hotel is on a dirt track through vine fields and it's very secluded.
Upon arrival we asked what spa treatments were offered and were immediately told that everything was fully booked without even checking. This was disappointing as we'd chosen the property so we could get treatments on our last day. Asking the other member of staff later we were given a 'menu' and 2 available slots, the mis-information given earlier demonstrated staff that didn't truly care about guests.
Wedgeview is a stunning, cosy thatched house that greets you as you drive through the gates. However, the room we had was VERY small for the price paid; there wasn't even space to put our cases & we had to leave them on the small amount of floor space around the bed.
There's no all day restaurant here although soups and snacks were offered. Bar prices are reasonable.
Staff arrangements were bizarre... staff on during the day had only been in the country for a matter of days and couldn't offer any local advice. They clocked off a 9pm and there were 2 security guards speaking limited English patrolling through the night; it was most strange.
The grounds at the hotel were beautiful and well kept and there was a swimming pool in the garden.
Unlike other guest houses and hotels in South Africa that were owner managed it felt a little disorganised and it was a great shame there was no local knowledge to advise us on maximising our visit.

Friendly welcoming stay

The hotel is up a very bumpy gravel road but worth the slow drive once you get there.
Lovely spacious room, we stayed in room 1 and had petals left around the room on arrival. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great with continental options or cooked fresh options.
There were a few minor issues with lighting, as some bulbs didn't work and trying to find the right switch for the right light was a challenge, but minor issues.
It was a shame the restaurant at the hotel wasn't serving evening meal but they offer a cheese platter.
On the whole a very enjoyable stay and we would definitely visit again.

Wedgeview - will I go there again?

We spent a weekend at WedgeView last year for our 3 year anniversary, and felt extremely special from arrival to departure. We had a beautiful garden room and the service received was exceptional.

With this experience in mind, we looked forward to spending a night there again. We were however quite disappointed this time around.
We waited in front of the gate for 5 minutes before it was opened, although staff on the inside could see we were there. The gate intercom was not answered, and we had to phone to ask for the gate to be opened.

There was nobody to greet us, and we had to go looking for someone to assist with booking in. We were placed in a very small room with not a lot of space to move around. It had the essentials, but for the price we paid, and having had a much bigger space the previous time we were there, it was disappointing.

Once breakfast was ordered, it took about 45 minutes to get to us, cold.

Needless to say, it was not a 5 star experience for us, which put a bit of a damper on the weekend.

Beautiful country spa and hotel!

Beautiful stylish country hotel surrounded by vineyards with amazing views. Room 12 was very comfortable and big with high bolted ceilings and an amazing huge bathroom. The massage at the spa was great and do was the food we had. Service can be a bit slow but nevertheless very friendly and helpful. All in all this is a great retreat and would def recommend it.

Lovely secluded setting in the middle of a vineyard. Stunning views of the Stellenbosch hills and mountains. Great breakfast. We also ate lunch at the hotel which was delicious and reasonably priced. Be aware however that taxi services to town or other places in the area are incredibly expensive (much more than in other areas of South Africa).

Disappointing stay for Valentines

We booked this hotel for our last two nights of our holiday based on the wonderful reviews and photographs we thought it would be the perfect place to celebrate Valentines Day. We were disappointed to find our \"Delux\" room was tiny, the walls were cracked and the \"private \" patio was shared so we had no privacy. I got an electric shock from a socket in the room and then from the wire around the patio. The staff told us we had the worst room but the hotel was full so we could not move.

Breakfast on Valentines morning was hectic, no fruit left on the buffet etc. and no \"turn down\" that night.

I am sure that our experience would have been different in one of the better rooms. The. Setting was lovely and also close to the wonderful Jordan winery and restaurant. It was such a shame to finish a truly fantastic holiday in South Africa in cramped conditions.

We spent Xmas at wedgeview by coincident, but it was the best place to be to enjoy and relax the holidays, the ownwes dava and anoul did everything tomake us feel welcome, as dis olivier and the rest of the staff. We had Xmas dinner with guests and owners enjoying the incredible sunset. Great food and wines and good company! We certainly hope to be back soon.

This countryside hotel has everything to make it a perfect holiday destination. The only thing that could be improved was the service. It was a bit messy. Another guest’s laundry bag was misplaced in our room, we reported a wasp nest on our balcony after check in, but it was still there the day we left. And the service at the dinner was not the best. Example; offering to bring some mayonaise, but then never actually delivering it.

The staff is the sweetest you can get. But some training would make a huge difference.

That said. Hotel and rooms are beautiful!
