Very comfortable stay and an ideal location for the Alpine Dieppe celebration. We had a lovely room, very spacious, with lots of storage and it was especially good to have a separate WC to the rest of the bathroom.
It was a bit unusual the way the shower was directly onto the room but it worked fine and, having experienced it once, I would definitely go for a room like that again.

A great location for an overnight stay on our way back to get the ferry. The hotel is located right on the seafront and had amazing views in a very quiet part of the town. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and the room was spacious and immaculately clean.

Fantastic but not four star

This is by far our favourite hotel in Dieppe. The underground parking is great for the busy town. Breakfast is superb, but the Resturant was booked for private parties both nights - I’m not sure you can claim to be 4 star if all you can serve is a sandwich. The bar was also closed during the day. But the location and the staff are great.

Bedroom overlooking front was comfortable the bed has white sheets which I love and is a good size. Shower worked well. View to the beach is unfortunate with an area of scrubland. Location to shops, museum 1942 and restaurants is great. Loved the street market on Saturday. Underground parking needs clear signage as to how to exit to hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The room was clean and updated although some mold in the corners of the shower. Beds very comfortable and parking was secure 12 euros per night just a tip very tight area to get in and out of our rented suv barely made it. We had an ocean view there's a vacant lot opposite the hotel so not the greatest but beautiful sunset so we were happy. Breakfast was just ok at 18 euros not really worth it. Lobby is under construction so a little difficult to get in and out looks like it will be ready soon. It was quite warm and air conditioning wasn't working we asked about it nobody ever got back to us at all or did anything but we were only there two nights so we managed but no screens in the window so leaving it open wasn't an option. All in all we would stay there again.

Pleasant stay, convenient for ferry stopover.

Ground floor was being recarpeted so reception consisted of a single desk moved about as work continued! Disconcerting, but no real problem. Newly renovated room was clean and comfortable (although how some elements would stand up to wear and tear was questionable - white headboard, unsealed basin surround?). Tea and coffee making limited - awful (single use) paper cups and no bottled water provided although advertised. First floor sea view wasn't great due to rough area opposite hotel. Air conditioning seemed limited. Parking under hotel was expensive but useful for peace of mind. Location was good - near castle and a short walk through to the high street, although opposite end to the old quay. Breakfast was very good - lots of choice including scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage. And the panoramic view from the top floor was great. Overall though, a pleasant stay for a couple of nights.

We were looking forward to staying here on the last day of our holiday. What a disappointment.
I could not even describe the design of our room. It was as if they had found a space and somehow fitted a room in it. There was a separate shower but it could not be called private. There was no bathroom as such , the sink being in an open area. There were no bedside tables and no chairs..In fairness when we raised our issues with the desk staff they handled it well. The manager hid in his office and offered a discount of 10%. I asked for 15 and he didn't argue.In hindsight I should have asked for more but we had a ferry to catch. Overall a very disappointing end to our holiday

This is a 4 star hotel, however, I have stayed in better 2-3 star hotels. Although it was clean and the staff are friendly, it is overrated and therefore expensive.
The breakfasts are below par and very expensive for what you get.
The restaurant was good, food was tasty and staff were friendly.

Great place to stay by the sea in Dieppe

I had very busy business agenda in Dieppe for the commemoration of the failed Raid in Dieppe 77 years ago. This is the best Mercure Hotel I have stayed in France thus far by a long shot (previously stayed at the one in Caen, Lorient, Aras). I was in a more upscale room with a sea view and the extra price was all worth it. Very comfortable bed and spacious enough room with a great spacious shower. Very good breakfast buffet. What I found especially nice was the very helpful and nice staff who made my stay very enjoyable by extending my check-out since I was busy with ceremonies. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Dieppe.

It is an AMAZING Hotel worth 5 stars. The reception was fantastic very welcoming, we arrived at 23.00 hrs, the bar was open the room was very comfortable, two chairs to lounge in. The breakfast was superb. We were very happy there.

Parking was an issue. We have a land rover and we couldn't get in to the under ground car park. There was a small car park next to hotel which I assume is for staff but we were not offered this to park and we had to drive around dieppe for a nearby parking area. We eventually found a spot just across the way which was free so it was OK.

We didnt use the car park on site as there was ample free parking close by.when we arrived at reception we were greeted extremely warmly and even joked about practising our respective language skills on each other.
Breakfast was explained to us.it seemed a bit expensive at 16.50 euros and is not something we bother with as we usually have an early lunch.
Room was lovely, bed was super king , bedding was lovely.pillows really soft and fluffy.the ambience and stying of the room was really lovely as well and extremely well thought out.i loved the lighting in the bathroom element of the room.the room itself was huge with a seating area and tables by the window.it was easy to move around and thwre was ample storage with proper coathangers (not the ones that are attached to the rail!!!). It was a little bit strange to have the shower cubicle and sink in the room but i liked that.i suppose it may be potentially awkward for folks who may be staying together for pwrhaps the first time and might be expecting a seprate bathroom??? And want to keep a bit of mystery ! One thing that i did find strange with the room was that given the stylishness and the thought that had been given to the room why they had used quite rough wood to panel the walls which didnt fit at all but it didnt detract from the overall comfort.it is just an observation.
The reception areas in the hotel looked really nice.we didnt use them othwr than to walk through and as stated we didnt use the restarant .

We keep going back to the Mercure!

We think it's the best in Dieppe. Have stayed here several times. It also has an underground car park (7 euros per night) and this is well worth the security as there are not many spaces on the road to park.

Room nice size and very comfortable. Nice size TV too but unfortunately only the News Channel in English.

Only other recommendation I would make to the company is to upgrade the quality of coffee cups in the room. Those flimsy paper things are too hot to hold once coffee is made.

The hotel is ideally situated on the beach, and close to the city core for shopping and sightseeing. Underground parking with direct elevator access is a plus. 30 second walk to the Canadian memorial and 2 minutes to the war museum, if you're a war buff. My only small knock was that unlike other hotels in France we stayed at, the reception staff's English language skills were generally weak...didn't impair our stay...just an observation.

Dreadful for apparently 4 star hotel

Having paid 120 for 1 night we were expecting this hotel to be a good quality 4 star hotel only to find the complete opposite. The Hotel had no air conditioning, they claimed this was due to a breakdown but the signs saying “Hotel without air conditioning” had obviously been up for a while. We had to leave the window open all night and didn’t sleep a wink owing to the continuous noise outside and the temperature of the room. We asked to book a table in the restaurant for the evening but were told the restaurant was closed owing to change in ownership (ridiculous), so although tired we had to walk about a mile or so to find a restaurant! We did complain to the hotel but the staff weren’t interested. I also complained to Expedia but my complaint has been ignored, note that there were no messages from Expedia about the lack of air conditioning or restaurant at the hotel, so we feel very let down by Mecure group and Expedia!

We stayed for a few nights in a pretty twin bedded room, decorated in toile de joie style, overlooking the promenade and the sea beyond. Given its central position, the hotel was very quiet. The bed linen and towels were spotless and changed every day. The only fault I can find is that the bed was a bit hard and there was a lack of coat hangers in the wardrobe. Staff were delightful and helpful. The position of the hotel meant that we were well placed to visit the fine seafood restaurants in the fishing quarter.

Dreadful receptionist at check in, first room we were given stunk of smoke as previous guest had clearly chosen to ignore the no smoking rule and the cleaning staff had not bothered to air the room, went back to reception to say we wished to move to another room as my wife is asthmatic, we were then offered a tiny little room right by the lift which was nothing like what we had booked, so ventured back to reception to let them know that this was unacceptable to be told that there were no other rooms available as the hotel was fully booked. At this point we decided we would cancel our booking and find another hotel, to be told by the now even grumpier receptionist that we could not cancel. I therefore decided to telephone Hotels.com and explain our situation. During this telephone call I was approached by this miserable woman who said that another room had just become available!!!!
We accepted this room, went out to dinner and left the hotel asap in the morning. Altogether a most unpleasant experience. We would advise anyone considering booking here to avoid at all costs.

The hotel was fine and well positioned although the one-way road systems made it a bit complicated to find first time although getting out again was really easy! Not too enamoured with the restaurant as I chose the 'formula' main meal which was not very good. Complained to the restaurant staff but they were not helpful. Hotel reception said they could not do anything as the restaurant is owned separately. We went to a local brasserie for breakfast rather than risk it and had a really lovely simple french breakfast for a minimum outlay. Next time - forewarned is forearmed!

Nice hotel, good food but service was abrupt and impatient. On check-out we were asked to pay for the accommodation, although we had prepaid in full, and for breakfast, which we didn't have. Without apology, the invoice was changed and we paid the correct amount.
Also parking costs €7 per night.

A Disappointment

An ugly '60's building in a splendid location, the hotel has had a very stylish make-over. However, this is a triumph of style over practicality, especially in the bedrooms. Rather than the usual bathroom arrangement, on entering the room the first thing one finds is a separate WC (no extractor fan), then an elaborate wardrobe (too short to hang a coat), then the washbasin (designed with no plug), then a (very good) walk-in shower - all of this is screened from the beds by a sliding partition. In a twin room, the beds are rather narrow (although there's plenty of spare space) if of excellent quality, but there's only one soft chair, nowhere to serve as a desk or dressing table, no fridge and an awkward space for tea/coffee making. It's all very pretty, spotlessly clean and well-maintained - but could be so much more comfortable and practical.

Great Location, Underwhelming Hotel

Located right on the main water front, the location is amazing. With the Chateau le Dieppe directly to your left on a cliff, the view is extraordinary. However, I found the Mercure la Presidence to be false in its name. It is very sub par hotel with very little comfort. If you are going to travel while there it is sufficient as was the case with my wife and I. However, no poo, subpar lobby and run down hallways take make it not an ideal hotel. We stayed in the higher end room and were better off going lower price for same quality. Go to Dieppe, just dont stay at Le Mercure!

OK hotel for stop over before catching Ferry

We stayed here whilst traveling back through France. It is tired from the outside but inside it is clean and modern. We had a privilege room so nice view of the sea. The receptionist knew English but the room service people didn't really so be patient. Dieppe as a whole is a seaside resort for Parisians so don't expect too much.

Nice hotel in Dieppe.

We thought this hotel was cute. We liked the location and the underground parking. The beds were comfortable and the shower had good pressure. The staff was nice and we would definitely stay here again.

Not a recommendable hotel.

The hotel is at an ideal location, close to the beach and the castle. However, its external appearance is outdated. The reception staff was friendly, but did not explain to us the hotel facilities, even though we had not been there before. Everything was shut down on Sundays, including the hotel restaurants. The room service was extremely expensive. The air-conditioning was not working and we were told that because it was not summer, the air-conditioning was not supposed to work, even though we complained about the room too hot and stuffy. We had to open the windows at the cost of bearing with street noise and poor sleep. The television was small and old. The shower drainage was not working satisfactorily. The breakfast was extremely expensive. Given that this hotel is labelled as four-star, nothing but the charges match it. We were disappointed and would not recommend it.
