Quietly tucked away in an otherwise bustling section of the city, this hotel with its elegant architecture is an oasis. Staff were friendly, breakfast was hearty, the room and linens were clean, and the price was so reasonable. What I didn't care for was the internal room I was assigned, as it had no windows to the outside.

This was such a lovely hotel. We were the only guests staying, it has a beautiful court yard and the room was large and comfortable. There was a bit of a language barrier with the staff, but nothing we couldn’t get around. The road it is on looks run down, but there are lovely cafes on it up the hill and the main shopping area is just around the corner.

Where should I start?
1. The property: beautiful building, lots of potential, but dark and dated decoration, making it look claustrophobic, even haunted.
2. Check in: no problem, but when asked if a take away breakfast could be provided for an early flight at check out, we were given an explanation that it needs to be checked because it is an administrative process. They never got back to us and we decided to sort it out ourselves, given the demonstrated lack of interest. It should be straightforward, especially with an empty hotel. Or just say a straight no and add to the policies.
3. Room: not particularly inviting, stained bed cover (photo), no toiletries provided, no toilet paper (had to ask reception and were given one roll), found the usual alien hair here and there. The safe was locked and I thought I’d avoid the trouble to ask reception.
4. Breakfast: nice pancakes, but very small portion of fruit (3 slices of banana, papaya and melon). When asked for more, the staff denied explaining it is one portion per person, which made me think “what happens to the other half of the banana if no one else is having breakfast?” And to be a paying customer at a “boutique spa” and be denied a couple of slices of extra fruit…
5. Conclusion: for a hotel that calls itself a boutique spa, it is closer to a hostel that serves breakfast. We haven’t seen any indication of services or design that could support the name.

Right down town walkable to Gold Museum, Botero and other art galleries, close cheap local restaurants. City sidewalks have huge leg breaking holes, dog and human feces. Not safe to go out at night, but inside hotel very safe. Older Spanish construction with courtyard.

The building is really nice and staff are very helpful. Location of the hotel is very convenient although it is in a street that needs to be maintained. If you are staying during the weekend beware of a street market that happens every Sunday morning and they start setting up early, very noisy outside during the weekend, other than that the room was really spacious (got room 1) and really clean.

This has a really nice colonial architecture. The staff was super friendly. Unfortunately I speak limited Spanish but the staff was very accommodating and very helpful. I felt safe there. At night the area is a bit dicey but I felt safe as a solo male. I hope to come back.

The building inside is gorgeous with plant walls and 20 foot ceilings. But the weekend we were there we didn’t see a single other guest. The place right at the edge of what looks like a war zone. Taxi drivers don’t want to go there and you definitely don’t want to be on foot. The hotel is at kind of a dividing line so it’s not so bad on the other side. They were also missing odd things in the rooms like glasses in the bathrooms. The shower was not great as it took a long time to heat and had low pressure. But it is a respite from the noise and chaos outside to air in the lovely courtyard.

I requested an airport transfer service from the hotel & they notified me that the driver would contact me via WhatsApp. I arrived at the airport in Bogota but nobody had contacted me, so I sent a WA message to the hotel & they said they would get in touch with the driver. I waited for over 30 minutes & was frustrated because nobody showed up so I ended up taking a ride share service. Finally I got a message from the hotel driver but I was already on the way to the hotel. My advice is to just use a ride share service (it´s cheaper, too, about half the cost of the price quoted by the hotel)

The hotel itself is pretty clean & the hotel staff were all very nice. There are no elevators. The mattress was too hard for me. Bring your own soap & shampoo because what they provide is not good at all.

I stayed in room 15 & there was a gas- like odor coming from the room. The hotel staff reassured us that it wasn´t a gas leak.

Breakfast is basic but fairly good.

The hotel is in the area of La Candelaria, it´s walkable to the historical district.

The hotel itself is lovely, and the staff are great.
However, we didn’t realise that it is in quite an unsafe area that we were told you shouldn’t go out at night. Meant we had to have an early dinner and be back in the hotel before sunset… does spoil it a little. But the hotel is well positioned for during the day.

While the staff was pleasant and the room was clean, there were some issues I had. There is little consistency between the rooms. It’s a toss up as to the size/equipment you have available. The spa and bar/restaurant are there but have long stopped being used. The spa now holds housekeeping supplies and the bar is always closed off. If you stay, invest in ear plugs. The building is beautiful inside but all that would and the open area allows sound to reverberate and the walls do nothing to dampen it. I was up with the lobby and cleaning staff every morning due to the noise they would make.

The hotel is in a great location to see the major tourist sites. You can walk everywhere without the need of a taxi.
The staff was great especially Erica who was super helpful.
The breakfast was great. The only negative was that since the property is a historic home it did not have central heating systems and at night it got cold.

Staff are very helpful and friendly. However we could only communicate through Google Translate. The building is nice and within walking distance to many tourist attractions. It might be a bit intimidating to some at night. If you are light sleeper you need to ask for a quiet room. Otherwise you will be kept awake all night. Breakfast is basic but good!

Nothing was outlandishly bad about this property it was just middle of the road. sister was not friendly but then again they weren't in anyway unfriendly just indifferent. in an unsafe area as I saw a man on a motorcycle rob somebody on the street right in front of the hotel.
they are very diligent about locking the door behind you and to let you in. I did not feel unsafe in the hotel.
Somebody had recommended the Candelaria area to me. I was much happier in chapinero area later in the week

Room was large, bedding was excellent, bathroom was spacious, daily cleaning was good. BUT there is no heating, and probably not necessary often; it was cold (40 F, 5 C) when I was there. My room was on the first floor at the back, room 7. The back window opened to a hallway where smokers did their thing, ugh. The laundry was there too and noisy all afternoon.. I contacted the hotel the day before and arranged a taxi pickup at the airport. I did this so I did not have to wait at the airport. The driver was 45 minutes late. The taxi rate from the airport to the hotel was 35000-50000 pesos. The hotel charged me 70000. I also asked for a wakeup call at 6:00 am, they did not call me to wake me up. I also asked for a taxi to the airport at 7:00 am. Of course it was 20 minutes late. So, I was not happy with my stay.

The hotel is in the perfect location, 10 minutes walk from Universidades bus station, 5 minutes walk from the Museo del Oro, ten minutes walk from Plaza de Bolivar and the cathedral, 3 minutes walk from McDonalds and the main shopping street of Bogotá. My room was quiet. But this is not a luxury hotel, but perfectly OK as a modest hotel. The breakfast is modest (some juice, some fruit, eggs or pancakes, bread and jam with tea or coffee, brought to you, not self-service). The staff are friendly and helpful.

Not for a Solo Traveler, definitely not a Spa!

I chose this hotel because it looked cleaner, social an brighter than other choices in the area. I was surprised to receive a msg from the hotel advising that a driver will pick me up from the airport and he will have a sign w/ my name on it. I felt safer knowing my ride is linked with the hotel.The driver didn't speak much english, but w/ google translate and my little spanish, he was able to answer my few questions. I am so glad he took me to get food before we got to the hotel, because the area is so sketchy, there's no place nearby open and there was no way I was leaving the hotel after I got there.
On arrival, we had to buzz in, the hotel is locked at all times (which is good, given the sketchy area). I was not expecting the hotel to be narrow, dark and looking a bit dated (old carpets, dated reception area).

The receptionist (Hernan) was very helpful, no english at all, but google translate helped again. He carried my bags up to my 3rd floor room(no elevators). I was very surprised to see a spacious room, w/ nice bedding, wood furniture and a modern washroom (walk in shower w/ rain shower head) and toiletries. I always check for bedbugs, there wasn't any present, but 2 of my 4 pillowcases were dirty, looked like blood stains or something. The room was extremely cold (as Bogota is normally on the chilly side). Breakfast was included, made to order and delicious. Overall, I would not stay here again solo, maybe if I was w/ someone.It was very dark, lonely and sketchy

Good hotel in city center

The hotel is 5 minutes walk from the Museo de Oro and 10-15 minutes from the National Museum of Art, Museo Botero and Planetarium, and a short taxi ride to the Monserrate funicular. It just off Carrera 7 (the most fun street in town), however the immediate neighborhood is quite seedy and in construction. The hotel is very nicely renovated, comfortable, clean and with good service. Well recommended if you are looking to stay in the city center.

CHARMING HOTEL CLOSE TO MAJOR COLONIAL ATTRACTIONS

i spent three nights at this charming, beautifully restored hotel. In their lounge area there are pictures of its restoration. Basically the former ‘house’ was gutted, and rebuilt paying attention to details like the beautiful Colonial Spanish styled moldings, the very attractive tiled courtyard, and the fine-looking wood work. It is indeed a ‘beauty’ on the inside and exterior! It is also in a very quiet location, and there is a sauna, professional massage room, and small exercise room.
My parents had a large double room. It held a sofa, desk, armoire, large wardrobe to hang clothes, and a safe. Furthermore the bathroom was very attractive and the water was nice and hot! It was quite simply excellent value for the money! The room itself was certainly as nice, or nicer than many 5 star hotels!
I had a smaller room which was still lovely, and excellent value!
The breakfast was delicious!
The front desk staff was very helpful. They are not fluent in English and we are certainly not fluent in Spanish but we managed.
The downside is that the hotel is in a rather run down area that could be dangerous at night. However, one is walking distance to all the major central Bogota attractions in the daytime. And in the daytime, there is always a really strong police presence!
So we walked everywhere in the daytime – including up to the Monserrate funicular, but came home early every night!
However, one could take cabs at night when staying here.

Really nice place for a great price

Hotel Santa Lucia is my favorite place when we visit the hellish city of Bogota, and the particularly harrowing region of la candaleria. If you have to go to this gross City, especially if you’re interested in the emerald exchange region, this is a great place to stay.

The hotel is near a few tourist attractions, but the neighborhood seems unsafe. The front door to the hotel is kept locked at all times. There is an additional outer door that is locked overnight. The doorbell is located between these two doors, so if you're out past 11 you will have to pound on the outer door so that the front desk will hear you and let you in. Noise from the staff will wake you up every day at 06:30. Room wasn't cleaned either of the two days I was there. I asked for the towels to at least be changed on the second day when I left for dinner, which thankfully had been done by the time I returned. Taxis are very inexpensive in Bogota, so I think most tourists would be better off staying in a nicer neighborhood further north, and just visiting the old town during the day.

The hotel is very nice and the breakfast is good. Unfortunately the walls are quite thin and you can hear most of what goes on in the rooms around you. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the location provides access to attractions in the candelaria. Unfortunately it's not a very safe area at night.

Hotel is nicely refurbished old building. Room is warm - has no AC, asked at front desk for a fan, not available. Room has a coffee maker, but no coffee, and no cups or glasses in room. Shower is nice, but no shelf to put soap or shampoo on - just adds a bit of difficulty. Wifi constantly drops off. Breakfast is adequate (fruit, eggs, toast, coffee, juice). If the hotel were to add a ceiling fan, put a shelf in the shower, and a bottle of water and cups in the room, it would go from being a disappointment to acceptable.

Too isolated, cold, not relaxing.

Clean hotel but has nothing to offer. Considering that the hotel is a bit out of La Candelaria central location, and is super dangerous to walk outside after sunset. There is no restaurant or bar open on weekend. The breakfast that comes in a price of the hotel is every day the same scramble eggs and toast made by a lady that cleans the facility. I was there in 50 degree weather, there was no heat in the rooms. Spa is a clean is a room with a massage bed. Shouldn't be called spa.

The hotel is beautiful and cozy. The staff is very nice, helpful and polite. The location is great and is walking distance from a lot of activities. The breakfast was delicious - juice, coffee or hot chocolate, fruit platter, omlette and bread. The room was very clean.

Cons: 1) The hotel is located on a street where a significant amount of homeless people sit and sleep. Despite this, the staff will call taxis for you, walk you to the taxis, pick you up from outside when you return from a taxi, and the taxis will not leave until you have entered the hotel. So though you might not feel safe on the street the staff makes you feel safe. In general in Bogota most people wouldn't be walking around late at night or when it's dark anyways. 2) The room was cold at night, no central heating. They do provide extra blankets.

Overall I would recommend staying at this hotel.

Great romantic getaway

Beautiful colonial home converted into hotel. The room is cozy but there is an outdoor balcony with a hammock. The hotel is a little hard to find but no issue if usoping GPS. The main town plaza is 20 minute walk away with many shops, restaurants, cafes, etc. Hotel staff is very nice and helpful. Very safe town and neighborhood. Hotel is very quiet. Hotel has mountain bikes for rental at $12.50 day each. I recommend calling in advance for bicycle rental so they can prep the bikes and inflate tires, oil change, etc. Checkout is normally 1pm but they were very nice to allow late checkout at 6pm since we did not check in until 10pm previous night. I higly recommend this hotel for single travelers and couples as well. As front desk about the adobe clay home attraction down the road...entrance fee is $1.50 dollars each. Yolanda at,front desk told us about this attraction...definitely worth seeing.

The Santa Lucia is Charming, clean and quiet and offers a simple breakfast. Although close to the heart of Old Bogotá' the area was very run down a mile north is much better, although for me it did not matter.

Gets the job done

Santa Lucia was fine, though not particularly great in any way. Cleanliness: The room was clean with the exception of gross door mat-type things on either side of the bed. (I kept rolling them up and putting them in the corner only to find them back the next day...) Service: hotel staff was friendly, though not particularly helpful with specific requests. Amenities: the common areas are nice and breakfast consisted of good scrambled eggs. The gym is tiny, though functional. Location: We weren't big fans of the location. Though convenient for historic sights, the neighborhood was pretty scruffy and definitely felt dodgy at night.

Bogata Gem

My daughter and I stayed in the Santa Lucia for three nights and really loved the place. All of the employees were kind and helpful, especially the young lady who made and served us breakfast each day. The location was very near all of the places we visited, so we never needed a taxi. The one thing that caused me to give a 4 to comfort is the late of heat in the hotel. We were there in late July. It's winter. It gets to 45 degrees outside. Thank goodness for the super hot shower!

spent three nights and was able to enjoy the character of this sector of old Bogota but it could have been much better. try to find out as much information aspossible before you leave, otherwise you will not be able to find much to do or miss on happennings. we went to Montserrat and enjoyed the very nice restaurant atop (San Isidro).we also explored the many excellent bookstores in the neighborhood and visited the Quinta Bolivar..a must! We will go back to Bogota but will go much more prepared.

Nice hotel and great staff

this a very nice hotel, in a very difficult area. If you like a simple non modern hotel this is a good one. The staff is friendly and the room is very clean.love the fact that what you see on internet is what you get. Now the area around it is not safe after dark, and that they let you know ones you there. My recommendation is to move around in the taxi that the hotel provides. Tip: don't forget to say on immigration that you are visiting this will help you not to pay the impose tax fits.

Nice hotel in la Candelaria

The hotel is hidden off the main street. It is very nicely finished inside. You can tell someone took the time and effort to make the place right. The staff is also very nice and friendly. They speak very limited English but you can get by with google translate. The rooms are modern and clean. I never had to worry about running out if hot water. In fact the shower had a waterfall shower head, horizontal body jets and a hand wand. The rooms are not heated which is fairly common for this area. They do include an additional comforter in the room in case you need it.

Note that there are additional taxes due at check-in in additional to the taxes you pay on Expedia. This is mentioned on some of the expedia check-out screens but not on all of them ($52 for 3 nights - 102,000 pesos). There is also a hidden security fee that I was surprised by when i checked out. I know that some hotels in Bogota charge this fee but I wasn't happy that this wasn't stated upfront. This was another ($53 for 3 nights - 103,500 pesos).

Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Amazing hotel, great staff.

In a beautifully restored colonial house in the centre of Bogota, near Museo del Oro this hotel has really spacious and well appointed rooms. It is very quiet, spotless, it has a spa - which I didn't try - and even a private chapel. The staff is extremely helpful I sand very pleasant. I would highly recommend staying here for business or pleasure.

Equipe muito gentil, quarto amplo. Solicitei uma cadeira de plástico para poder tomar banho, pois tenho uma deficiência física e consequentemente essa necessidade, e fui atendida. Como o hotel não tem elevadores e o café da manhã é no segundo andar permitiram que minha mãe levasse para mim no quarto, um dia depois a moça responsável pelo café levou para mim, muito atenciosa! O chão do quarto é bastante escorregadio, mesmo sem estar molhado, precisa de atenção.

Parfaitement situé pour le shopping et les visites dans le centre! Belles chambres bien equipées, meme si l'hotel était quasiment vide. Petit dejeuner correct. Rapport qualité prix imbattable. Possibilité de change sur place. Parle peu anglais mais personnel accueillant. Pas d'ascenseur.
