Couch needs to be replaced or deeply cleaned instead of just putting cover over cushions, layer of dust on top of fridge, inside fridge dirty, dishwasher dirty and old, dishes sticky and dirty in cabinet, not given pots/pans/sponge/dishwasher soap, toilet seat broken (had to be careful not to slip off when sitting down, carpets filthy, pull out sofa awful and extra sheets and pillow had definitely not been washed, toilet hadn’t been cleaned and was clogged whole time, layers of dirt in corners in variety of places, trash cans dirty, mattress stained and uncomfortable, sticky remote, had to ask for wifi. I get that this wasn’t a ritzy place but CLEANLINESS should never been an issue in a hotel. This place takes no pride in cleanliness, cuts corners, does lower than pure basics. Someone knocked on my door at 9:30am to see if we were still there, check out isn’t until noon. Breakfast was decent. Don’t stay in this dump. They won’t have my hard earned money again.

This ‘hotel/extended stay’, by far was one of the worst I have ever stayed in my life. The room was constantly stuffy and smelly, aged window units, disgusting dishwasher (I would never use it), stains on everything in the room (chairs, floors, curtains), inside the cabinets were disgusting, refrigerator barely worked and kept things cold (freezer thawed ice). The staff was very inexperienced running the place. Odd charges with room management of funds, requests for high dollar amount for deposit (even though I seen two guests pay with cash)

There was rolled up toilet paper stuck in the peephole which says testament to their cleanliness. My bare feet never touched the floor at any given time.

At least the bed was comfortable…I will never return.

The communication about a deposit of $200. I had to pay a deposit at check in. In which was not mentioned in the message the hotel sent me confirming my reservations. The room was not the greatest this time. We had to clean the bathroom from hair in the tub and urine around the toilet. The tile on the bathroom floor was cracked the grout was breaking apart.

I stayed there multiple nights and half of the staff was incredibly friendly and the rest not hospitable at all. In my room, there was personal items left from previous guest, lampshades loose and stained, spots on walls were saturated with something, and phone did not work to call front desk. Upon checkout on last day i requested a late checkout at 1230 and was told another guest was checking in at 1215 when check in time is 3 pm. The property had very few guests for the duration of my stay and verified with housekeepers that there is no way they can properly and correctly clean a room in 15 minutes. Absolute lie for my specific room to be checked into 15 min after checkout and desk agent and manager spoke nothing of the that lie. Oh and also on last evening of stay, I had to terminate multiple roaches that were crawling along wall near refrigerator which I also told management and desk agent about at checkout and didn’t seem to care or be professional or accountable for the lie told to me of late checkout and disregarding my information about roaches in my room. Carol (housekeeper) was amazing to speak with btw. The manager heard my frustration and their staffs choice of what they told me and stepped back to office, didn’t ask about my stay, or care that I was a guest for multiple nights during a slow period. No thank you at checkout and to lastly say anyone can walk in any door at any time including side doors, back door and front especially evening hours. Not secure.

Room was comfortable, but I only used it to shower and sleep. The furniture needed cleaning and a chair at the desk needed refurbishing, as the \"leather\" was peeling. The breakfast lacked variety and fresh fruit. The desk attendant was friendly and smiling and made me aware of eating establishments in the area. He was very helpful.

They put a $200 hold that they said I would get back in 3 to 5 days, on top of the room rate. The hotel was not clean, we booked a handicap room with roll in shower, we did not get that, when I asked why we did not get that room I was told they had 2 rooms like that and they were already booked, we were the only car parked in the handicap parking so I don’t think there was anybody there that was handicap. I think they lied. The was supposed to be a queen size. We got a full size. We managed they did have a handicap seat in the bathtub.
The room was not cleaned very well. Bathroom had 3 bars of soap used, and a used wash rag hanging over the shower curtain. Floor was not clean very well also. We will NOT be back!!

I spent 3 nights in a 3rd-floor room here and was generally pleased. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed. The kitchen nook was a plus although the freezer badly needed defrosting. Everything was clean and worked, although the desk chair was surprisingly beat-up looking. Free breakfast was better than most. Parking was easy and the location convenient, in Decatur's southern burbs. Staff was pleasant but street noise was audible in my room despite being on the top floor. Regardless, if I were returning to the area I'd stay here again.

I strongly do not recommend staying at this property. Missing or non-working amenities, furniture is horribly worn and needs replacement, second room had a bad odor, housekeeping does not properly clean as items were left from previous guest with spills on table, and a bad leak coming from somewhere… and the floor was as soaked. After being moved to a second room and it being inhabitable, we decided to find a new hotel… instead of risking a third room. This all happened within a few hours and hotel refused to refund as we would have had to request it within the first hour. Ridiculous. Find a different hotel. Worst place I have ever stayed.

It’s been a week with no free reversal and no one answering the phone. Why not put a pending hold like every other hotel.

The hotel was ok, but the room definitely needed a bit of attention. The little bitty fridge in the room had broken pieces and froze everything in the fridge and freezer, which ruined a diabetic med that i was to take Monday morning. The air conditioner was incredibly loud all night, and the bed was really hard, even for my husband who enjoys a firm mattress.

We did like the hot breakfast and the staff was great!

The rooms were okay in size. They definitely would not sleep more than three people comfortably. There were visible holes where locks on doors had been moved and not filled. The shower curtain in one of the bathrooms wasn't fully attached and kept swinging in as the shower was used. The breakfast options were limited.

The hotel itself was generally clean. It was a decent stay for a five-day visit and definitely cost-friendly.

Very comfortable stay; some confusing information. Before arriving, received a text about checking in online early, and in that process it stated pets were not allowed; however I had booked the site primarily because they allowed dogs and I was traveling with mine. When I got to the hotel I went to the desk and asked about pets; they do in fact allow pets. There was very littlte presence at the front desk. I stopped in to check out in the morning but no one was available. about half hour after leaving I got a text to check out online (not particularly convenient when driving). The hotel was great for the price but the management processes just a bit inconvenient.

I was genuinely excited to visit the area and spend time with family, but my experience at this property was extremely disappointing. Upon check-in, I noticed several red flags, and unfortunately, the condition of the room confirmed my concerns.

The room had an unpleasant odor, the toilet was visibly dirty, and there were spiderwebs on the ceiling. The furniture was in poor condition, and to make matters worse, the trash bins outside were overflowing, creating an unsanitary impression from the start.

I have stayed at this location in the past and had a much better experience. Sadly, the property has noticeably deteriorated since then. It’s disheartening to see how much it has declined over the years.

I hope management takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements to restore the quality and standards that guests expect.

Needs less Spanish television stations and more traditional American stations. The television guides and channel names were all in Spanish. Guest laundry needs updated badly. Keycards need to not deactivate all the time. There is not someone at the desk at all times. Kitchenette doesn’t have enough dishes or utensils.

Beds are comfy. Clean bathrooms. Quiet and calming spaces. Breakfast is decent. Accommodating to your needs or requests. All in all a good place to stay.

I always enjoy how quiet this hotel is. Even when pet owners are here I have not heard the pets in the hotel at all. I have read most of the reviews for this hotel. It is disappointing to hear that people were having bad experiences in this hotel. My daughter and I have been staying at this particular hotel for a few years now. And the only issue we have had was our keycard not working properly. The staff fix the issue and we were back enjoying our stay.

I immediately came to the front desk to ask for a different room, but all they had was the one next to my original room. The property list said that it was clean and then there was a baby crib available when we checked in there was no baby crib available. We went up to the room. The couches were stained. There was blood on the one couch. I have pictures of all of this, there was roaches in the under the sink they were crawling everywhere the carpets were not clean. Also, the stoves in the kitchenette were absolutely disgusting. It looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in months. The bedsheets were not clean. Nothing was clean this place should be shut the f down. Do not stay here.

Hawthorne is well located. It's getting to the shabby state.

This property needs some heavily improved updates. I was checked into room #216. When you first walk in the room you get an uneasiness because at first glance the carpet is dirty, the couch had various spots and stains on the couch, and the lighting isn't the greatest. The amenities in that location is second to none. It's plenty of things to do for enjoyment. As a matter of fact there's a movie theater in the parking lot right next door. So when we came back in and relaxed, i was getting bit left and right. Usually bed bugs crawl back in their hiding spaces, but these bugs just crawled in the open comfortably. Then you seen even smaller ones which you can assume that eggs have hatched. So i confronted the gentleman at the front desk and i showed him pictures and he was apologetic, and gave me another room (#316). So we ran to a store and grabbed some bed bug spray, went up to room #316, sprayed the perimeter, and went downstairs and sprayed our personal belongings before we packed and went upstairs to #316. By the time we went upstairs and checked the bed we seen small ones crawling on the mattress. We went back downstairs and showed him the video and he was apologetics once again and tried to hand me another room key and i declined and told him, there's no way you couldn't have received previous complaints about bed bugs being in here. This hotel is infested with them! I asked for a refund and ofcourse that's a process so that's literally pending right now.
