This is a wonderful hotel in one of the most beautiful places in the world. You're steps away from the HR Giger Bar & Museum, Castle Gruyeres, restaurants, and little shops. It's amazing. And breakfast was so good.

I loved it here! You’re right next to the parking lot and right outside old Gruyère. The rooms are beautiful and the balcony the best view in the entire area in my opinion. Plus the breakfast and the gym, sauna and steam room were so luxurious and nice. 10/10!!!!

Enchanting hotel with friendly staff

We had an enchanting time and made all the better by our host on check in called Ana. She was soo helpful and friendly. She checked us in early, gave us vouchers to spend at the HR Giger museum, which was our main goal of our visit. The breakfast was delicious and the lady serving breakfast was also extremely lovely. Would 100% stay here again. Visited in September 2024

We arrived at 8.30 pm. We contacted the hotel before we arrived as were worried that we might miss the 8pm check in time and our email was promptly answered and we were reassured that there was provision for this. We had quite a long walk uphill to the hotel which is well positioned just below the medieval town but if you arrived before 6pm there is a bus service up to the public car park near the hotel.
We had a two night stay and our room was very traditional, small but comfortable with a decent bathroom. The bed was comfortable and we had a lovely view out of the window. We hadn't booked breakfast but were able to take it for the two mornings and just pay at reception on checkout. There was a good set of choices for the breakfast and helpful staff. There was a nice balcony to eat breakfast on but unfortunately it wasn't quite warm enough for us on the days we were there.
We could also have eaten other meals at the adjacent hotel restaurant. As already stated the hotel is very well appointed to easily walk up into the medieval village and there are some lovely walks around. The walk down to the station and cheese making experience attraction is quite easy with good views to the surrounding countryside. Entry was free with our Swiss pass and we found it very interesting. There area also busses from the station into the nearby town of Bulle.

We totally enjoyed our stay in the cute town of Gruyères. The room was incredibly small but the bathroom was large. Opened the windows for fresh air (no a/c or fan) but were inundated with flies. Incredible views of the castle, nice meal at the Knights Table and good additional cost breakfast on the terrace.

Set in a small quaint alpine village this hotel offers a peaceful place to rest after a day of exploring. The town is close but you are far enough away to get out of the crowds. Our favorite was the beautiful views and peaceful bells on the cows that graze on nearby hills.

Awful stay due to group of guests partying upstair

Booked this hotel for a romantic trip with my wife but a group of kids had booked a few rooms and decided to have a party in the room upstairs until 1:30am… Nightmare!
Mentioned this to the hotel staff in the morning but they did nothing but offering a 3 Fr mustard as compensation (there was noone at reception from 10pm so nobody could have got the party to stop).
Terrible place, noisy, awful service, one of our most terrible stays ever…

Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was nice just too small even for one person. I ate at their restaurant both nights i was there just because the fondue was excellent and the service was fast. The hotel is located right next to the entrance to the old city and also right next to the bus stop. If you go there by train, like me, dont walk if you have luggage, it's all uphill. There is a bus that takes you from the train station to the Gruyeres ville, one stop.

My daughter and I loved this hotel. The view from the bedroom balcony, restaurant and breakfast room are just beautiful! - we could see the chateau, church steeple, mountains, fields and a herd of deer from there! We loved the rustic feel of the hotel. The food and the wait service were fantastic, and the front desk staff were so friendly and helpful! The restaurant is known for its outstanding fondue made with local ingredients.
The hotel is literally 1/2 block from the entrance to the village of Gruyères, a small gem of a town that sits up high on the hilltop. This is a very special place and hotel! :)

Reception was very nice & helpful. The hotel is lovely, charming and clean. Comfortable bed, kettle and mini fridge provided in room. We stayed the end of June and a fan was provided which was nice due to no air cooling. Our room, on the 2nd floor, had a view of the mountains in the back of the hotel and was very quiet. Limited electrical outlets for charging electronics, not a criticism, just an observation. Easy access to bus drop off and peaceful location at the end of the town.

Adorable!! From the amazing view out my window to the wonderfully nice people at reception this is a must stay if you come to Gruyeres! Room was extremely clean. Bathroom has a nice deep tub. Splurge and get the Mountain View- its amazing. The woman who does the breakfast made me the most wonderful cappuccino. Walk to the little town and castle in less than 5 minutes. Only 10 minute walk from the train (or take a bus). Would definitely recommend!

Staying at this hotel while we were traveling through Switzerland was quite enjoyable. The location to the old town of Gruyere was so convenient as well as its proximity to the cheese tour. The property views are stunning and the hotel bar/restaurant is lovely. The one complaint i have is that the rooms are Very small. Smaller than any I have ever stayed in when visiting Europe.

Beautiful and charming hotel

Everyone was so welcoming and warm to us throughout our stay. The room was charming and opened up to a beautiful scene with reindeer grazing below and the castle in the background. Steam room and sauna were a great addition after a long day of walking around. Highly recommend!

Plenty of parking and walkable to all places of interest in Gruyeres. The man receptionist was very helpful. The family room is in fact 2 very spacious rooms, with a private corridor that can be locked. A chair was provided in the bathroom.

what a quaint and cute hotel, loved our stay, both rooms were excellent with balcony/view of land. GET the breakfast! best option in town, no other place to eat except other hotels that only offer hard eggs/bread. Awesome check in, info, parking and cutest town ever. Did the cheese tour and drove 10 min to chocolate tour. Book this hotel, it's cute, and excellent gym if want.

Pros: Good location, nice breakfast, bathroom is clean.

Cons: I booked a room for one person. The room was so small. Furnitures were old but this could be part of the hotel’s style. Spider nets at the room’s corners (this is not justifiable). No AC in the room, weather was nice so was not big problem, however, when I opened windows at night, I had few flies and mosquitos in.
Check in process was not the best. I arrived at 2:30 pm, the front desk staff told me that room is not ready and asked me to come back at 3:30 pm …( most hotels in Switzerland allowed me to check in between -2 pm though).

Loved the hotel. People at reception were extremely friendly and even gave us an upgrade to a better room. They also provided us with discounts to museums, local attractions and some of the restaurants.
The room was clean, tidy, comfortable and with a great view over the mountains and a castle.
The hotel itself is just outside the city gates, which means it has an easy access to parking and bus, but also within 2 min walk from main street.

V. rustic, few amenities, horrible walk from train

I suppose this hotel is ok if you have a car. The walk, entirely uphill for about 20 minutes dragging luggage is horrible. There are no taxis or other options. No air conditioning, one outlet far away from the bed and no ability to open a window. The person at the desk was very kind, but with a few small upgrades, this property could be very nice.

Great value at a great location right near the main area of Gruyeres. We appreciated being able to park our car at the hotel and being able to walk in just a few minutes to all the main sights in the village. The property is a bit older but nothing of much concern, and although it was not busy when we stayed we could see that the breakfast area could feel really crowded when it's a busier time of year. However, the service at the front desk and from the staff in the breakfast area was really superior and so that and the location made it overall excellent for us. Would definitely recommend and would stay there again!

The middle of winter is not an ideal time to visit Gruyères, rain and cold are pretty predictable weather predicaments. Being at a hotel so close to the town helped mitigate this, with parking and a very short walk to the main street. The hotel is reminiscent of the family hostelry of this part of Switzerland, very welcoming and cosy. The view of the Alps and of the old city from our window was a definite plus. If one could venture one suggestion, it would be to have some form of self-making coffee / tea facility, something that is now a standard feature of just about every hotel.

Was really pleased with our stay - perfect location & very peaceful! Room very clean & well serviced.

Only slight down side was on checking in, was asked if we wanted breakfast - I enquired if it was included with my booking as couldn’t remember - lady checked on booking & said it was.
On check out - by a different lady - asked if we had breakfast - confirmed we had & told there was a cost - advised on checkin it was included but she confirmed it wasn’t - paid around 90CHF for two breakfasts for myself & husband - as I’m gluten intolerant there wasn’t much to have so was a little disappointed in the miscommunication.

Location is great. Steps from the museums and restaurants. The balcony views are great. There is a half flight up to the elevators, so be prepared as there was no help with bags.
Look immediately for a parking space as there are only 7 on property. If you don’t get one drop your bags up there prior to parking in the paid sections. Depending upon time of day it could be difficult to find one at the top area.

Great place with great views. Very close to historical city gates. The hotel was not in perfect condition, but it felt just right for the location, that is a little rustic. Limited parking if traveling by car. Be careful if you book by someone other than the hotel, there was confusion whether or not the breakfast was included. Hotels.com said it was and the hotel said it was not. The hotel was very gracious and did not charge for the breakfast even though it was not included. They said it has been a problem with booking through Hotels.com and Expedia.

Very characterful place to stay in Gruyere. Private parking, and lovely views if you’re overlooking the garden. You may even see the deer which seem to live here. Our room would have been better without the wardrobe and an extra light next to the bed. Very good clean bathroom. Have stayed before and would definitely stay again and recommend.
