Rooms were clean, there was confusion regarding our reservation but after 2 hours they miraculously found two rooms with King beds like we had originally asked for. The present restaurant/ bar was terribly lacking very poor wine selection and for cocktails you had better like shots because they only have coke for a mixer. Fortunately the area provides excellent alternatives for breakfast and drinks.

We stayed for three days in a room on the 6th floor and later three days on the 7th. The room on the 6th was spacious and comfortable. The room on the 7th was less convenient, mainly because only one elevator went to the 7th and was often a long wait. The hotel is on a steep hillside with limited on-site parking. An overflow lot required a bit of uphill walking. Rooms had beautiful views over Oaxaca, but the hotel was a bit of a long walk into town, especially considering the uphill walk to return to it. Breakfast was very good. Staff was professional but a bit indifferent compared to others we encountered in Mexico.

The staff were very kind and helpful. Most of them spoke English. The building was kept spotless and shiny clean. The breakfast buffet was fresh every morning and filled with delightful Oaxaca fare. The lunch and dinner menus were basically a Mexican version of American food and I found it barely tolerable.
Cab and valet service was very efficient and quick. The rooms were very nice, clean, and comfortable. The single blemish on this property was the very noisy and busy highway at the front of the establishment where the swimming pool, deck, bar, and restaurant overlooked the city. Apparently, there is no smog or muffler controls in Oaxaca. Many of the cabs are old beaters, many motor and dirt bikes, and the noise and air pollution drove us, every time, away from the cocktail lounge, the veranda, and swimming pool. In other words, there was no place to relax and chill without suffering obnoxious noise and pollution at intolerable levels. They advertise the roof top as available to relax and chill, but I found it blocked off and unavailable.

The hotel is nice and clean, but the restaurant is very expensive and the food isn't that great. It's very far from the city center and the main square (Zócalo), a 24-minute walk. For elderly people or those with health problems, it's not a good place unless they have a car or take a taxi (120 pesos for a 5-minute drive). Taxis are very expensive, and the hotel is located between some dangerous avenues to cross on foot. I think it's better to pay a little more or choose a simpler hotel in the city center so you can walk everywhere. It was a mistake I made, but I learned my lesson for next time.

The were repaving the street out front which made for a lot of noise and unpleasant smells in the pool area. Dining options were expensive for the quality. Not great selection.
The staff was absolutely wonderful - friendly, helpful, smart. In fact I got into a slight altercation with a driver who tried to cut me off turning into the hotel, there was a minimal damage collision which was very annoying. I pulled into the parking area and the valet approached verified no damage before I could get shaken down, and sent the driver on his way.

The property was very close to the zocalo and other places to see. Also close to a lot of restaurants and the Mercados. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They greeted us, helped with our baggage, and booked our taxis to take us to the airport the next day. The room was clean, peaceful, and the rain shower was a great feature. Every staff member at Hotel Fortin were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were spotless, well maintained and very comfortable. The restaurant had delicious breakfast and dinner items at a very reasonable price. Lastly the location of the hotel was close to all major attractions while still being quiet at nighttime. The worst service ever. Not a friendly nor clean place. The room was not comfortable. Noisy bad service. Never to be back in this hotel. The place Oaxaca is beautiful. I had a coffee machine and nothing to prepare the coffee. Very lousy service. They said my taxi to the airport was going to be one amount and I was overcharged. No upgrade was offered. The room was only cleansed once. You could see it in the floor. Not happy at all.

The hotel was in a perfect location. It was close to El Mercado and El Zocalo. The staff was very attentive and polite. Unfortunately, the WiFi in the hotel was not working for the 4 out of the 5 days we were there and they did not want to issue any kind of refund. The tv runs on WiFi, therefore there was no tv or internet available. We notified the staff and their response to this issue was that it was an out sourced service and they had no control of it. There was no kid of credit issued. I thought that was completely unfair. I will not be staying there next time.

A huge plus for this hotel is it's located adjacent to quiet Xochimilco, Oaxaca’s oldest neighborhood. The neighborhood is vibrant and charming with many excellent restaurants/cafes, murals, happenings, and historic aquaducts. This was a happy surprise and highlight of the location.
A huge negative for this hotel is that it's located on Hwy 190, one of the busiest streets in Oaxaca, at a very pedestrian UNfriendly intersection. If you plan to walk everywhere, know you'll need to get your jaywalking/running chops on ASAP! (Pro-tip: walk north a block along Venus, and cross (carefully!) some distance away from the hotel intersection; head into Xochimilco via a smaller street parallel to Hwy 190. To get to the Centro, walk two blocks east to C. José López Alavez, turn right back toward Hwy 190 and come to a safe pedestrian-friendly cross-walk.) Note that accessible ramps/crosswalks are few and far between.
The Xochimilco area is just across the street from the hotel; and the Centro area is a scenic 20-25 minutes. If you are able to easily navigate wildly uneven terrain/stairs/inclines, you will be fine walking everywhere/anywhere in sturdy shoes. For those who cannot, taxi rides to the Centro are generally less than 100 pesos (at the time of this review), to or from – the hotel will call one for you.
The upper floor rooms (4+) offer lovely views.
The staff is gracious, kind, and courteous.

They didn’t turn on the hallway lights until it was super dark. The cleaning service could of been better they would forget to put us new towels or toliet paper and they had Limited tv Chanels.
