This is probably the best accommodation we saw in the town itself. It was brightly lit and easy to find. The streets around the hotel are dirty but probablly no more dirty than anywhere in India. I cant blame the hotel for thet. The staff here are very helpful and courteous. I enjoyed my stay here and would not hesitate to reccomend it to anyone. There are a few nice restaurants next to the hotel where you can get a beer and some wine.

Super helpful staff

We stayed 1 night. The person at the check-in was super helfpful. He showed us another room when we asked to get something away from the street. We ended up in the room overlooking the street and did not have trouble with noise at all.
Clean well decorated room, clean bathroom.
The person at the check in helped us a lot of information about ways to explore mahabalipuram, how to get to chennai next day, where to eat etc. Also showed us a shortcut to go to the music festival on the beach.
We were also able to keep our luggage next day after checking-out.
location is very close to the beach connected to the fisherman colony. The shore temple beach is also not very far.

Convenient but disappointing

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful but the condition of the hotel let it down. It was filthy. The bathroom was disgusting, dirty and smelly. The sheets were sticky and the cover on the bed was dirty (obviously hadn't been washed). I had travelled for 2 weeks in India before this hotel so used to conditions.

Good, comfortable hotel; friendly staff

Staff were friendly and helpful; the room we got was good, but the air conditioning was stuck on gale force. Luckily, it was fine to use just the ceiling fans, though in hotter months, this might have been a problem.

The wifi was okay, but you need a code which is good for 650MB and two connections - which was a problem, since we were uploading all our pictures, so kept running out, and needing new codes.

Breakfast wasn/t included, but there are lots of places nearby to visit. I don't really understand why they don't make use of the restaurant on the roof, though - it could be a lovely place to sit. Instead, it's an sadly underused and neglected space.

Decent clean hotel- Average amenities and decor

A no frills budget hotel. You basically get what you pay for. At its cheap rate, you get a small clean room. The Internet wasn't working the night I was staying. I don't know if it's because of the rains. There wasn't hot water either. But keep in mind the low hotel rate. That's the biggest plus. The front desk gentlemen were very nice.
From my experience I would strongly suggest staying in Chennai and just coming out in Mamallapuram for the day and heading back to chennai for the night. Better option and value of hotels there rather than in Mahabalipuram which is essentially a tiny town.

Very very Basic. Lacks even the simple most amenities of anything resembling a hotel. No breakfast. Restaurant without a restaurant yet an expensive Menu Card for room Service. The Location is o.k. but this Ramalrishna has a Long way to go ... Sorry.

Great stay here

We arrived around 2am, but were greeted at the gate- quite a welcome sight. Staff was helpful and courteous. I enjoyed the layout of the facility- our room was on the third floor with a shared open deck. The room is small/cozy, but it and furnishings had a pleasant quality to them. Some mosquitoes made their way into the room, maybe through the bathroom fan, but this was a common occurrence in our travels. Its a small town, so Ramakrishna is close to everything. I would stay here again.

The best part of this hotel is that it is placed in prime location of mahabalipuram, the hotel staff was good ready to help us anytime, we reached hotel 1 hour prior to checkin time though we were allowed to accomodate inside, hotel rooms were neat n clean , I surely recommend my friend about hotel Ramakrishna if someone is looking for budged hotel in the prime location of mahabalipuram.

great location

Besides the mosquitoes n the no toiletries given, the rest of the things r okie. Walkable to the beach, bus interchange, shore temple, anjura penance, krishna's butter ball.....the front desk need to work on his attitude problem. Ither than that the hotel is fine.first day only 1hr wifi is given prolly the front desk mistake. Wifi is suppose to be free.

Excellent location

The hotel is only a hundred metres from the beach and in the midst of the action, right by the fishermens' village and next to restaurants etc. Shore temple, 5 Rathas, Arjuns penance etc all within easy walking distance We loved Mammalapuram and the hotel Ramakrishna is excellent value for money. The beds are very comfortable. Bathroom is funtional if basic and cleanliness was average. We actually stayed there on two occasions and the staff were very accomodating and helpful.

We had three days at the Ramakrishna hotel and it always felt welcoming and safe.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the location was excellent.
Close to beach and busy streets, the hotel had all one needed and furthermore it was easy to get to the wonderful temple sites.

Good budgetish hotel

It is what it says it is on its website which is rare. Above all its clean , nice beds and bedding and clean a decent bathroom. For hot water keep it running for 5 mins but it come s through.

In truth 1200 rupees + tax isn't really budget but it not bad for a decent place in a tourist town. NIce pace for a soft landing if you have just arrived in India.

Just one negative against plenty of positiv points

First at all: Awesome staff (helped to organize a simcard, which is not easy for european cause you need a permanent address and someone who calls with the company cause there english is worse) and they didn't ask more money like we saw in different places before and after. To the hotel: Nice located, away from mainroad and sightseeing stuff reachable in 5-10minuits walk, beach 2minuts. equipped with a nice looking restaurant (didn't used it why ever) and nice and clean rooms. Only negativ point is that the shower has a really low pressure and the water smells sometimes like sea but we heard from other people that they have the same problem in there hotel). I would stay there 100% when i go another time to Mahabalipuram

Power breakdowns need to be addressed!!

Staff is good, these people are the main asset of this Hotel. Food is costly (may be this is common among tourist spots!!). Power breakdowns need to be addressed immediately though they had generator in place no idea why we were kept without power for more than 4 hours that too during night time!

Don't go by the outer appearance!!

I had booked a Deluxe room in this hotel. The service provided by the hotel is really good!
The room service is apt and the food is great, also priced reasonably. The rooms are a little small, but very comfortable!
Enjoyed my stay with this hotel.

Hopeless Hotel

Silence speaks better than words.. The staff cannot keep a jug and glasses for drinking water in the room. This is being done even after requesting them many a times. All is hopeless.. Sorry to say this..but it lacks many a things even after paying an amount there the things were worst. No proper water for bath etc...

Location is good. Rooms are clean but extremely small (The double bedrooms are dorms partitioned to make rooms). The cafeteria is nice and location is decent. Overall ok for a night or two's stay but not beyond

Friendly welcoming Hotel Ramakrishna

Very conveniently placed, great view from sweet rooftop restaurant
Brilliantly helpful staff - the charming owner, Balaji, will do anything to help - refurbished spacious clean room, generator quickly started when electricity cut off so fan continued to keep us cool! (AC is also available)
Things which could be improved were - too loud western music in the restaurant and instant rather than real coffee... apparently a swimming pool is planned which would be a real boon as it was jolly hot when we were there in Jan/Feb '13

Clean and central!

Lovely and clean. It's central to everything and it was possible to walk everywhere. The rooms are quite basic, but they're clean and the location of the hotel more than makes up for the lack of extra luxuries, e.g. T.V. I definitely recommend it as a good place to stay. The guy down stairs is very helpful and gave some good advice.

A great place to rest

A really well presented room with a very comfortable bed, it was great to watch tv as many hotels provide tv that don't work. The location was very touristy with plenty of places to eat and enjoy the sea. The room itself was very clean and I felt well looked after. My only issue was not all the lights worked in the room but this does seem normal in India.

主要な施設にアクセスしやすいロケーションでよかったです。
窓は廊下に面した所にあるだけで、実質、窓がないのと同じ。照明を点けないと部屋は真っ暗で、家具等のメンテナンスがなされていません。部屋にはFlat-headed wood beetleがベッドや、テーブルの上に沢山いて不快でした。枕に匂いがあり、清潔感に欠けていました。
シャワーヘッドは使えましたが、シャワーを浴びている時に、電力が落ちて、突然停電になり、濡れたまま10分待つことになりました。
リゾート地なので仕方ないのでしょうか。全体的にあまり快適とは言えませんでした。

Abgewohntes Hotel in zentraler Lage.

Gute, sichere Lage, für einen Kurzaufenthalt o.k. Zimmer sind allerdings abgewohnt und leider nicht besonders sauber. Zimmer ohne Fenster. Personal freundlich.

場所は便利だけど・・

11:00くらいに早めのチェックインで、本当は早く部屋に入るとお金が発生するって言われたけど「外のテラスで待っててもいい？」って聞いたら「特別だからね」と部屋に通してくれました。
ホテル建物の雰囲気、スタッフの方の対応はとても良かったけど部屋はいまいち。
夜エアコンをつけて寝たら朝エアコンから水が降ってきました。
外光が全然入らず暗いし、蚊も多く快適とは言えないかなぁ。
お湯は出ました。

Zentral gelegenes Hotel mit freundlichem Service. Bequeme Betten, relativ saubere Zimmer, AC o.k.
Achtung: Unser Zimmer hatte keine Fenster!! Gut gegen Moskitos, aber für meinen Geschmack kein Zimmer in dem man sich lange aufhält

- Service nonchalant.
- Contrairement à ce qui est annoncé, l'hôtel est situé dans la ville Noire et non dans la ville Blanche.
- Chambre propre et confortable.
- Taches \"propres\" sur les draps (je veux dire par là que les draps ont été lavés mais que les tâches sont restées)
- Wifi fonctionne très bien.

Rummet var rent och snyggt, men väldigt små, så svårt att få plats med resväskorna när de var öppnade. Servicen var toppen, men välj aircondition, annars blir det olidligt varmt :-) Väldigt billigt och wifiuppkoppling finns :-) Enda nackdelen var att rummet var lite väl litet...

Super Lage in Strandnähe mit tollem Roof-top

Freundliches, gepflegtes Hotel in super Lage: 3 Minuten zu Fuß bis zum Strand und nicht an der Hauptverkehrsader. Frühstück auf der Dachterrasse, liebevoll dekoriert. Das Personal spricht gut englisch und ist entgegenkommend und sehr bemüht.

Были в этом отеле 5 ночей. В целом оправдал ожидания для отеля 3 звезды в Индии. Вполне приятный отель для тех, кто хочет подешевле. В номере кондиционер, вентиллятор. Постель чистая и удобная. Обслуживание хорошее, персонал приветливый. Проблема была только в интернете - он как бы был, но соединение плохое. два дня из 5 его не было совсем. А так все нормально, мы всем довольны. Завтраки хорошие, омлеты, блины, яичницы, йогурт, и т.п. - все в порядке. Такси из отеля был заказан за значительно бОльшую сумму, чем предлагали на соседней улице сами таксисты. Но, это могло быть следствием того, что мы оставили мало чаевых.Чаевые в Индии надо оставлять всем и всегда!

清潔感があり便利なホテル

値段の割に部屋の設備は整っており、清潔感もあった。地域的な停電も多いが、ホテルで発電機を備えているようで夜間はすぐに回復する（昼間は停電のまま放置されていたよう）。ただし、A/C付きの部屋であっても停電の影響のせいかほぼ使えなかった（3月であればシーリングファンのみで暑さはしのげる）。同様に、温水器は部屋毎に設置されているがお湯は出て来なかった。周辺はレストランや土産物屋も多く、観光地やバススタンドまではだいたい5-10分程度の距離にあり非常に便利。
