The hotel was a little tired looking, but this was made up for by the attitude of all the staff. Everyone was extremely helpful and polite. The pool was lovely and clean as was its surrounding area, restaurant staff helped us with the different foods,and check in staff lovely.

Firstly the staff were fantastic - from the check-in where the girls were so welcoming and friendly (and this continued throughout my stay) through to all the others - cleaners, dining-room, .... they just made the place very special. My room was great - a good size with verandah and views out towards the sea. Food was quite good and the pool was brilliant - big and clean.

Would have given excellent all round if they werent upgrading the a/c dining room which meant meals were served in the outdoor cafe which was full of flies. They did their best and gave us room service. Pool was excellent

Wonderful experience

It is an amazing location , richly into the nature. Early morning sunrise over the sea is stunning.
Courteous staffs and good food.
Rooms are adequately clean and gives a feeling of being at home.

Located beautifully - leaves a lot to be desired.

The location is fabulous and the staff at the restaurant were gentle and warm. That alone is nice about this resort. To start with, the bathroom - the door had withered out at the bottom, chipped out and had a gap from the floor. The hygiene faucet had been leaking and was hung on a nail. Did I pay Rs 5K plus for this ? Room size was big and the view overlooking the pool was good. AC was ineffective for the room of that size. AC water drain was blatantly directed into the bathroom leaving it to drip / drain resulting in the floor being wet and slippery. We in fact were asked to change room which we occupied first. Food was average and the waiters were pleasant, so not much to complain. Surprisingly, there were mosquitoes in the room too. I'm allergic to repellents.

Wonderful November 2014 visit

Gorgeous and clean beach, very attentive and accommodating staff, great breakfasts and dinners and comfortable room. The rooms are basic, the lights are florescent and the towels are a bit threadbare, and you can't go on the beach after dark. But the hotel was well kept, the staff was friendly and the pool is refreshing and almost 25 yards long. We had a very pleasant stay. We also booked a yoga master, Magesh, through the hotel and he was excellent. Patrick Scott

There are better hotels out there

The hotel is not well kept and not maintained. The hotel compound is infested with ants nest. Our room is a disastrous place. The curtain falling out. The tv buttons not working. Toiletries is hardly 5ml bottle for 3days. Front desk was not prepared to receive guest. Transfer taxi was expensive but comfortable driver very courteous. The dinning hall staff excellent....food average...but

Mamalla beach resort

Food quality was so poor. Tomato rice was served in the name of biriyani. None of the food items were good. We checked in at 1 pm & asked to wait for almost 30 minutes. After 30 minutes they allotted 1 room in place of 3. I'll think 100 times before I get into this resort again

Great potential

This hotel is right on the beach, with a great location, great swimming pool, and large site with plenty of trees. However, it fails to reach its potential due to poor management. The restaurant overlooks the beach, a lovely place to eat, but the food is overpriced. The rooms are basic, but adequate when not overpriced. Some unpleasant smells around the site suggest poor plumbing. Lack of attention to detail. This has the potential to be a wonderful hotel, more suitable for both international travellers and the Chennai crowd.

Never visit & dont waste your money

A/c's dont work in one or the other way... The condition are very bad & they are very very old.

Room service & food utter waste.

For a one single double bed room, they'll provide two single beds joined with a gap in-between which is really uncomfortable while sitting & sleeping.

I have not taken any photos at the resort bcos my mood was totally off after feeling uncomfortable here.

Wonderful

Our stay at Mamalla Beach was wonderful. Very relaxing and near to the village within walking distance. The staff were very kind and made us very welcome. I especially loved having the pool to cool down and the beach within meters away. The restaurant we overlooking the beach as was every room occupied. I would recommend anyone who wants to relax from the hectic India for a short while to recuperate.

Perfectly nice and quiet!

The location is just a couple of klm's out of Mamallapuram but an easy walk via road or along the beach. If you want quiet which you will want after travelling in India, this is the place, sounds of waves and geese cackling yes geese that grace the resort. The staff very helpful, the restaurant mostly buffet Indian food but very fine and acceptable. I enjoyed me stay there.

Real resort, clean hotel room

The hotel is really clean. The terrotory is really nice and shady. The beach is nice and almost clean. Buffet for dinner and breakfast is wide, the food is tipically indian and very delicios. We walked to the city along the beach, it took less than half of an hour.

Ideal location for leisure trip

Overall it was good eccept one minor mishap. We were getting only hot water in all the taps and we could not take bath in that room because of that. However they promptly provided another room to take bath before we left. Otherwise things were fine.

Mamalla beach resort

The standard of the room was barely adequate. The curtains were rotten with mold and the whole room smelled awful. The location is about 3kms from the village with nothing ie shops etc anywhere near. Auto drivers all overcharge for the run into town as they know you are stuck in the middle of nowhere. There are much better and cheaper places in Mamallapuram itself. Would not recommend this hotel.

Paradise!

We expected very little as the hotel had been so cheap, but it was exceptionally good! We could see the sea from our balcony, the room was clean, we had hot water, the air conditioning worked and we had a fridge - all important in India! The hotel food was good and reasonably priced and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The only criticism was that we had to go into Mahabilapuram to hire bikes (its about a mile away) and it would have been good if the hotel had bikes to hire.

I was delighted with my stay at this hotel.

Perfect location right on the beach. My room was comfortable even though the furniture was dated, but that was not a problem. There was hot water on demand. The staff were friendly and helpful and there seemed to be a lot of people who stayed at this hotel regularly, which says a lot. I was delighted by my stay at this hotel and would happily stay there again.

Spacious Rooms but lousy food quality

Good points: The rooms were spacious...nice balcony. The air conditioning was good. The beach in front of the hotel was good. The layout of the hotel was nice and the pool was well maintained except for the larger one. The addition of the geese roaming in the campus was attractive for my kids. The reception staff and hotel general manager were good and knowledgeable.

Areas of improvement: The restaurant quality of food was lousy and the prices on the menu were very high given the low quality of food. Also the service by the restaurant staff was not good. The adult swimming pool seemed to have unclear water. The exteriors of the buildings/rooms need some cement work and painting done.

This hotel can offer a better experience

I was at the resort with family. Nice location, little off from the hustle and bustle of the main market. Rooms were spacious but they need to get new pillows, blankets and bed sheets. Bathroom was clean and nice. Staff was very courteous. The hotel has a good sea view and they have a restaurant near the beach as well. Strictly no one should be allowed to jump in the swimming pool with his full clothes on!!!! They can start a swimming costume rental service at a nominal charge. Food was over priced and it does not offer value for money at all.

Over all experience was average to good on various aspects.

I have given same feedback to the hotel. I am hoping to see some positive and motivating changes for my next trip.

The Mamalla Beach Resort - give it a miss!

We were very disappointed with the Mamalla Beach Resort. In three days, we:
had hot water once;
experienced regular water pressure problems;
couldn't use the pool because it was under repair (and no discount);
endured sewerage smells in the dining area;
and, finally, had to dispute the tally of our food & beverage because the resort attempted to charge us twice for one of our meals. When we established that their bill was incorrect, I suggested that an apology was in order and was told, \"that won't be necessary\"! Never again.

Hotel bom com boa localização

Hotel simples porém confortável, com ótimo acesso a praia é bem próximo ao centro. Comida típica com boa qualidade e valor compatível ao que oferece. A equipe de trabalho é muito atenciosa e as condições de higiene são muito boas.

Hôtel de bord de plage

L'hôtel, géré par le gouvernement, nécessiterait des travaux de rénovations des chambres et des parties communes et un investissement en linge pour les chambres. Très bien situé au bord de la plage. Des bungalows de 6 chambres. Notre réservation incluait le petit déjeuner et le dîner 'buffet', mais aucun buffet n'est dressé le soir et nous avons dû payer nos repas (seulement 6 euros pour 2 personnes).

die standardzimmer sind alt und abgewohnt...erst nach Beschwerde wurde mir ein annehmbares zimmer gegeben...Essen indisch gut, Service sehr freundlich und aufmerksam...leider wurde mir nur das Standardzimmer mit Halbpension angeboten ....besser ist es das Luxuszimmer und Vollpension zu wählen

Mamalla Beach Resort ligger perfekt, når man vil væk fra Chennais larmende trafik og mange mennesker. Langs den flotte strand ved Mamallapuram kan man gå dejlige ture, og hvis bølgerne er for voldsomme til badning er der den store pool, som er velegnet til både børn og voksne. Serviceniveauet i receptionen v/ Mr. Chandran er i top, de assisterer gerne så man oplever det man gerne vil opleve. Restauranten ligger med udsigt over vandet og leverer også villigt roomservice.

Très bien situé et calme.

Hotel à l'indienne très agréable, assez confortable et propre. Très bien situé entre le temple du rivage et la grotte du tigre (30mn à pied par la plage), avec plage privée très propre et piscine. On peut se baigner sauf si on déteste les vagues, attention il y a un peu de courant. Personnel très gentil.On peut changer de l'argent à la réception, demander un ricksaw pour aller en ville (temples extraordinaires), ou un taxi pour l'aéroport. Ne pas hésiter à les contacter via leur site, la réponse est très rapide.

Idéal pour passer une nuit

Le cadre est superbe, sur la plage. Pas de wifi dans l'hôtel, décevant.
Un drap troué, je l'ai fait changer sans problème
C'est un confort convenable, très indien
Restaurant modeste, très bien situé sur la plage
Personnel très gentil et serviable
Pas cher, idéal pour passer une nuit et visiter les sites archéologiques
Attention : il faut une voiture ou un rickshow pour se rendre sur les sites

Away from it all

Terribly disappointed. Firstly, double booked, we were sent off to Mamalla Inn in the village. Day 2. We were promised our room when we got back from our visit to the city. Our luggage was still lying at the reception when we got back. After waiting at the reception for 40 minutes we were packed into a room that was hurriedly cleaned up. Towels were in shreds, door lamination peeling off. Unfortunately we had included breakfast and dinner in our package. I haven't eaten worse food than that which was served and the service at the restaurant ... well there was none. We left after 5 days with a feeling of total frustration. The lackadaisical attitude at the reception was the icing on this awful cake. Sadly, am never going back.

Das Hotel liegt weit ausserhalb der kleinen interessanten Stadt, in direkter Strandnähe.
Baden im Meer ist aktuell nicht möglich gewesen.
Das Personal ist freundlich und bemüht gewesen.
Das Restaurant unterdurchschnittlich, der Pool nur mit angemessener indischer Bekleidung, - T-Shirt etc. benutzbar.
