This hotel was not much more than a motel 6. It was filthy, old and in much need of repair. There was a roach in the tub which I took a picture of. The safety bar in the tub is hardly attached. The TV only worked using the physical button on the TV. Remote did not work. Couldn't change channel or volume. Breakfast at 8am was cold and old. They could not make more eggs. I couldn't find any help to even get a napkin. Carpets were dirty. Elevator made scary noises and fridge made loud noise all night.

The condition of the room I was assigned was absolutely dreadful, and I say this as a 22-year-old. There were stains in the shower, an old roll of open toilet paper, a fridge with rust on the inside, and the floors were filthy with stains. I wore pink socks, and after just ten minutes of walking on the floors, they turned black. Additionally, the bedding and couch were stained. I understand that some places may be outdated, but that doesn't excuse a lack of cleanliness. I was extremely disgusted and concerned about staying there. The only reason my partner and I did was that it was 11 o'clock at night, and finding another place to stay seemed impossible. Please, do better, so no one else has to pay $230.00 to stay in a place that is below average.

The hotel was nice, but not up to the expected standards. There was only one elevator working, the breakfast was fair, the pillows were miniature, and the A/C was noisy. Theses are minor, I know, but somewhat agravating. The guest, (which was not your fault, were slaming doors until 2AM.

The room was a handicapped equipped room and didn't have a handicap accessible shower. It was a tub shower which made it pretty hard to get a shower. The sheets were very worn and almost see through in places. The tub in the shower was dirty. Other than that the room was spacious and was adequate for our needs. Breakfast really didn't have an attendant to make sure there was eggs and sausage for the guest. Had to go and track someone down to fill waffle mix etc. Overall the hotel could use some love and updates. Would rate my stay a 3 out of 5.

We came down at 8am and almost all the food was gone. no eggs or meat waffles almost none and low on syrup. watched other guest coming down . cereal was their option . There appeared to be a lot of workers eating early. I counted 9-10 in breakfast area. Just believe that quest should have access first. Overall very helpful staff at desk . would stay again Thank you

Very poor service. Hotel ignored room requests. Disregarded housekeeping request. Tub did not drain. Hotel Phone started flashing red in the middle of the night, which staff knew might happen but didn’t mention or try to prevent. When rises the issues, was told there was nothing they could do for me.

Choose another hotel. Lots of choices in Southport. Fairfield. Holiday inn. Hampton. River hotel. Inn at Southport. Comfort inn.

The room was clean but the fixtures were old, the bathroom door cracked at the bottom. The front desk was mostly unmanned. I never saw one person working the breakfast area. There was zero thought given to people who have food allergies (nothing was marked, no alternatives, no staff to check ingredients). Finally, the beds need to be replaced as the springs could be felt on both mattresses. A bit disappointing for a Wingate and the price point.

We have stayed several times, trying to save money. Each stay we were greeted by the same wonderful employee, who seemed to be the only employee, doing everyone's job. Despite the woman's efforts each time we stayed we were in rooms that were a bit worse for wear, inoperable phones, moldy air condioners.

This is an older hotel thatvis in needbof refurbishment. The caulking in the bathroom is evidence of workmanship, and the carpets are worn.
AC units were old and noisy.

it was terrible, had a 3 night stay but somehow they had checked me out the first
After breakfast I had a email asking when I was going to leave ! I still had 2 more nights
Went to front desk , she said I checked out last , that key had been returned and no one was in room 327. HELLO I’m standing there with both keys in my pocket, I have not checked out ! I know mistakes can happen but , she didn’t apologize or attempt correct the mistake… she stood there and argued with me telling me I’m not there so cause I was getting loud where other customers can hear me , she calls the POLICE First time in my 70 years I have ever been escorted out of a place
I’m looking for a full refund cause I don’t see paying for the treatment they gave me !!!
No customer should have to argue with hotel to prove they are standing in front of them
No apology for there mistake and have the POLICE CALLED

What kind of low life Hotel is this

But now I can’t get anyone to own up to there attitude
Even staying, no one is smiling and no one speaks to you

The whole staff forgets with out the customer they have no job

The room was filthy, smelt like mold, and cigarette smoke, the bed was extremely uncomfortable, no towels, no soap, the front check in personnel didn’t seem to know what was going on, the door to our room has pry marks on it, like it had be pried open before. My kids and I couldn’t stay there, we were in the room for maybe 20 min trying to find somewhere else to stay and our allergies were bothering us and we were broke out. It was absolutely the worst experience

The beds are old and in bad shape. Thin uncomfortable mattress springy and make noises the pillows are also bad too small and not comfortable. The toilet is too low and there are outside spotlights that shine all night into your windows. Even with the drapes closed it looks like daylight at night. Terrible breakfast too. We checked in around 10 pm and was exhausted so did not feel like dealing with the hassle of complaining. The shower curtain had mold on it, the bathroom floor had not been mopped, the couch is the room had stains on it which may you feel like it was dirty. The floor just outside the elevator on the 3rd floor and a spot that was obvious someone had spilled something. It was there Friday evening and still there Sunday when we checked out. The check in staff was really friendly but it was very obvious that management had no desire to have a clean hotel.

We have stayed twice at this facility. The first we were given an unclean room in which the lights, air conditioner, fridge and phone were non functional.After expressing our displeasure we were switched to a more preferable room. The second time we stayed the room was clean, everything in working order, although the toilet seat was unattached to the unit.
The breakfasts offered were dispensed cleanly and were replenished when needed. We did not take advantage of the pool or fitness room, but each appeared to be well maintained.
We will stay again.

One of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. The box spring was broken and we sank into the middle. The carpet was stained. The heat made noise all night. The bathroom mirror had spots on it. The lighting fixture in the bathroom was rusted. Our door had evidently been busted into at some point and not repaired. Breakfast did not have any fresh fruit and the milk was almost gone. Need I say more? Avoid!!!!

Wingate employs old fashion thru-wall heat/cooling systems. There is a dummy thermostat mounted on the wall that isn't connected to anything. The controls on the wall unit had the power on/off, fan, and heat/cold button disabled. The noise of the unit was unbearably loud. I found the only way to shut it off was to pull the plug. I found the plug connected to a bare receptacle lying on rug, stuffed under the unit, with excess cable bundled.
I took a photo of this obvious electrical code violation and showed it to the desk clerk at checkout. All I got was a blank stare! Too many other choices to putup with this.
