Pros: very clean, older property but the cleaning staff do a great job. Fernando especially is a great staff member helping with a very good breakfast experience.

Cons: no exhaust in the washrooms, very linty sheets, room unit fan not working, no elevators (important for those that have heavy luggage or mobility issues).

This hotel has the perfect location, just a short and pleasant walk to the centro of Bologna. Staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet, included with the stay, is a wonderful plus with plenty of options to start the day. Everything is very clean and well maintained, making it a comfortable and stress-free place to stay. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Bologna!

I recently stayed at Hotel Port Mamolo in Bologna and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is conveniently located near all the main sites in Bologna. The property was clean with a beautiful garden area. A very lovely breakfast was included as well. There are 2 nice restaurants on the same street…I received excellent service at Osteria Antica and the food was fantastic. I am a solo, mature female traveler and I felt very safe here. Safe travels!

This is a tremendous hotel and worth the quick cab ride from the station. The breakfast was varied and the staff was pleasant and helpful. The folks at the front desk were great and arranged our dinner reservations since we don't speak Italian. The bedroom was clean and comfortable.

The location was fantastic. On the edge of the historic centre and only a short walk from Piazza Maggiore. The bed was excellent and the room was spacious.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant opposite the hotel was great and really reasonably priced.
The breakfast was good and the staff each morning were very attentive. Although it could do with more cereal and fruit options.
Our only gripes with the room were that it was constantly too warm for us (even when the radiators were turned down. Although this may not be an issue for others). The family in the room above were very noisy late into the night (this is obviously not the fault of the hotel. Simply a lack of consideration from the family above us and not the best sound proofing due to the age of the property).
We would definitely stay again on our return to the city (later in the year the air conditioning would be turned on so the heat wouldn’t be an issue)

A great stay

It was a fantastic place to stay, we thoroughly enjoyed it and undoubtedly we will return if we visit Bologna again. The only reason I didn’t give it 5stars is because the shower didn’t have sufficient hot water one morning. Often, this would bother me more but because everything else was SO good, it paled into insignificance!! The staff were also particularly accommodating and hospitable. Many thanks!

Excellent location, room is big enough, bed is really comfortable, breakfast is the best hotel breakfast I've had in Italy, my only issue was with the air conditioner that wouldn't turn on at first, then someone from the lobby helped me get it running but after about 1-2 hours it went back to not working, left the window open (thankfully the temperature was good outside) but then the noise grows exponentially which makes it a bit difficult to fall asleep.

Hotel is generally nice. Staff were friendly and breakfast was very good. Our room had some issues including the light going in the bathroom late at night, charging ports not compatible with more modern eu adapters and the bed sheet having a tear and a large mark on it.

Avoid top floor rooms but otherwise lovely

Hotel was lovely and in a good location however, we stayed in room 209 which was big but had some sort of hotel staff rooms above it. The ceilings are thin so whenever anyone walked up there (a lot of heels on wooden floors?) you could hear it very loudly and you could hear dust dropping within the ceiling. Frustrating when it's occurring late at night and at 6am in the morning as well as any chatter. So unfortunately we didn't sleep well. Hotel breakfast was okay and all else looked good and service was great.

It’s my second time staying here. Love the location, there are two great restaurants on this street and it’s close to everything. The hotel is elegant and comfortable. The new wing’s rooms are nicely renovated with a spacious Bathroom for Italy and fantastic shower. Wonderful breakfast room.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel. Bologna is a beautiful city. The hotel was in a quiet area but within 10 minutes walk of the centre. The staff were friendly and did anything for you. We hired a car for the day and this was arranged by the hotel staff. The room was comfortable and clean with a large king sized bed. We ate in a restaurant around the corner on our first night and the food was excellent. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

We are a family of 4 adults staying in two rooms - one twinned and one extra double, which are next to each other. We stayed for 4 nights in Feb half term.
Location: 10/15 minutes walk to main town square, 25 mins to Bologna Centrale train station. Or use 32 bus (circular) round outskirt of main town. HPSM is in a residential area which is nicer, quieter and with better air quality than those near train stations.
Facilities: only triple room has tea and coffee making facilities; all have hairdryer, mini bar and safe. Lovely shower but it is a shame that it has no baths. Good breakfast, a wide range of food and drinks. Beautiful courtyards, ideal for summer outdoor seating.
Staff: very helpful and friendly. Rooms are cleaned and towels replaced everyday.
Overall: A great place to stay, close to main square and there are two very good restaurants nearby, one (in the corner) is listed in a guide book. Bookings are essential.

Cozy clean welcoming hotel in a busy city

Very nice hotel that was surprisingly quaint in a big bustling city. Bedding was so nice and the room impeccable. Staff was welcoming and helpful, the breakfast buffet was incredible in a cozy little room with outdoor dining options. I really loved the hotel but disappointed in the water pressure and it was not as hot as I like. The walls are very thin so if you wake easily this could be an issue. Other than that if you are going to Bologna I recommend.

Nice hotel but don’t rely on the parking

Nice hotel in good location but parking was an issue. We had received a message from the hotel that a parking spot had been reserved for us.
Staff at front desk said there was no record of it and then said we could have a space in a garage a few doors down. It was not possible to even get into this garage and would have meant blocking other cars in. We ended up in paid parking not far away so it would have been better if that was what we were instructed to do before arriving! And the parking there was considerably cheaper that the rate quoted by the hotel.
Made for a stressful start to our one night stay in Bologna.

After being up for 30 hours with missed connections and luggage, we arrived at the hotel. The junior suite room was wonderful in another building. There was an excellent restaurant right across the street. The breakfast buffet was also very good and in a beautiful courtyard. The distance to the main center was walkable. Parking is an issue, but we were warned. Still parallel parking is not my forte.

Lovely two-room suite. Front desk staff provided good dining recommendations - assisted with making reservations. Lovely breakfast in the Orangerie - wonderful service provided by the staff there. Good, walkable location. Would recommend for a stay in Bologna.
*Of note- staff had informed we could complete laundry service at hotel, though omitted the fact it wasn’t available on the weekend, during our stay. Plan accordingly if needed.

Charming place, just some noise / water issues.

A very charming place at a nice price- in a residential part of town, but only a 10-minute walk to the tourist center. I enjoyed the modern design of the hotel, and the breakfast was a good spread in a glass-enclosed structure on the grounds. The only downsides were the water pressure/temperature of the shower, and the very thin walls (we clearly heard our neighbor's alarm go off). However, for a quick one-night stop-over in Bologna it was very enjoyable.

As a casual tourist this hotel is too far away from the “action”, it is 1.3 miles from the main square where the restaurants and stores are. Too close for a taxi and pretty far to walk after a long day of touring. I feel the location makes this a poor choice for visitors.

The hotel was charming. All the staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful. The hotel is a reasonable walk from the centre, and there are 2 restaurants right nearby. The only reason I didn’t give a 5 for everything is because the hairdryer was useless, and our bath towels weren’t changed

It felt almost like staying in a country hotel as it was very quiet ( at least our room at the back was) and had a pretty courtyard /garden area nicely planted and tended. This is a small three star hotel in a quiet part of town about 15 minutes walk from the centre. The staff are very friendly and the place is immaculately clean. Breakfasts are excellent with plenty of choice. The room we were in, at the top of the building, was plain but well appointed with an excellent en-suite and a large comfortable bed. In fact the only slightly disappointing thing about our stay was the fact the separating walls are not that soundproof.
