Great Hotel!

Silver Mounts is perfectly located within walking distance to many attractions and the Mekong River esplanade. Lots of restaurants and cafes around the hotel. Well appointed rooms with electric kettle and coffee, mini fridge, hair dryer, comfortable bed, AC. The staff are friendly and helpful. Great price for this hotel!

Charged USD $ 2.0 for a small bottle of water consumed accidentally from the mini bar! As the minibar is outside on the table.
Charged USD $ 25 for a car to the airport, much cheaper outside. Hardly 15 minutes to the airport and was told it would take 1hr at 4AM. No receipt for this!
Very fussy, and did not convert a slightly torn USD $ 100 bill.
COCKROACHES ON THE RECEPTION SOFA AND MILLIPEDE ON THE FLOOR!!!

I liked the attitude of the staff. That was positive.
However, the TV quality was terrible and the fact that there was no view from the window - just a wall was disappointing.
Therefore, it was not good value for money so left after two nights to move to a four-star hotel which cost only $10 per night more than Silver Mounts.

Room was clean. Breakfast was a basic mix of western/Khmer options. Staff was helpful in arranging tuk tuk to see Silk Island after my boat tour canceled. Location was easy walk or short cheap tuktuk ride to the major sites of Phnom Penh.

So close to the river, and so many businesses nearby, at a good rate. Breakfast nice, but only so so, so if you have choice of cheaper room without breakfast I would go with that. You can always get breakfast for $4 at hotel, or go someplace else for that.

Location is seedy even though it's close to the Musuem. The streets nearby are quite dirty and smelly and I would definitely choose a different area next time for this reason alone. The hotel itself is very nice for the cost.

This is a basic hotel don’t expect anything not even the so called free wifi. The housekeeping maids are rude and sometimes they don’t give you the amenities and when you asked for it like the hand towel they are grumpy. While some staff speaks English many dontyand don’t even understand what we are saying. When we first arrive there were banging and drilling noises upstairs and throughout our stay especially our last night the floor above us seems to be dragging furniture throughout the night (unless it’s ghost!). We were booked in for 10 days and our room wasn’t cleaned as we can see the build up of soap scum in the shower floor and little insects on the room tile floor. I should have taken a picture of the sheet on the bed which has stains and a hole. The only good experience I had was one of the guys at reception was very helpful in going out to get me a certain Khmer style noodles that they don’t serve in their restaurant which I appreciate.

There was a bit of a smell to the room (we aired it out and put air con on). The room had two floors (neat) but don’t recommend that room for everyone as stairs were extremely steep. Location was great and staff very helpful. Easily walked to the royal palace. They organized our airport pick up and car to go to Kampong Chhnang and all went very smoothly

A Silver Lining

'Had an excellent stay here, in spite of not liking the city very much. This hotel had almost everything I needed (lacked only a fitness room), all in good condition, and no unnecessary accoutrements that I didn't use. Fair price, so definitely a good value. The staff was helpful without being intrusive. I'd definitely stay there again if I have business in that area.

Great value hotel. Located well for the sites, but street side can be rowdy. Took a room on the back side, view of a parking lot, but MUCH quieter. Staff is GREAT. Left my cellphone behind during a room change, cleaning person promptly & smilingly rushed it to me. WiFi is a bit sketch. Overall good hotel & room for the price.

Fantastic staff. Everyone has a great attitude and is very helpful. Totally recommend this hotel. I have stayed there multiple times and each time was a great experience. The only thing I wish could be changed is to add Fox News to the TV menu. It has been greatly improved with the addition of CGTV as an alternate channel to CNN which is an opinion station rather than a news station.

It was a pleasant stay.I had to change rooms within 5 minutes as the air conditioner was leaking water on the floor. This was not a problem with the reception staff as a room opposite had become available. The restaurant staff, were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was adequate and catered for the all tastes. It would of been great though if it had a pool to relax at after a day out touring.

It's been a bargain since 2012

I first discovered the Silver River for myself back in 2012. I've been staying there on and off all this time. The best rooms are either those at the front with a balcony or those at the back. The breakfast is worth getting, order eggs and the rest of the food will compliment them. Close to Riverside and priced very well. A good bargain

Pleasant stay, especially because of the friendly staff, who seemed genuinely interested in my family’s comfort. Phearun was particularly helpful, but the rest of the hotel team, including Mr. Bora were very helpful and accommodating.

The property is on a street that has a backpackers’ feel to it, in terms of the activity and types of shops around, which can be a plus or minus.

I had an very enjoyable vacation there and stayed at this hotel many time during the last year. It is in a good location and easy to get to many of the typical visitor sites in walking distance or accessible by Tuk Tuk. Everyone in the area speaks English and they all use the dollar as their currency. Prices are extremely reasonable compared to California. Very friendly people.

Located in popular st 172 area and short walk to riverfront. A little more expensive than most places on st 172, but clean and well maintained place. Buffet breakfast is OK but staff sometimes has trouble keeping up with replacing items as they run out. Furnished with good in room safe box and good flat screen TV with many choices of channels.

Two week August vacation

The hotel location is ideal. It is near the most visited sites and near the riverfront. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms are kept clean and are very comfortable. The price is reasonable. There are many restaurants nearby to provide a variety of inexpensive meals. I have stayed there multiple times and each visit is always a pleasure.
I highly recommend the hotel to everyone.

We stayed twice in this hotel for one night each. The room was clean and had everything as expected. The hotel staff were very nice and accommodating. There are so many shops and restaurants nearby, we didn't need to go far for anything. We only had the breakfast buffet one morning, and we had no complaints. Interesting random food choices, but everything was good.

My third stay at The Silver River Hotel and again it did not disappoint. In a street full of restaurants with many inexpensive options. A tuk tuk ride of a few minutes to all of the major bar areas. The hotel has an elevator and the rooms are fine with good showers and comfortable beds. The rooms are cleaned daily and the staff are helpful.

The reception staff spoke good English and organized tours for us as well as our bus journey to Kampot. We had our laundry done in one day for $6. Good breakfast buffet, polite staff. The only reason we didn't have dinner there was the lack of vegetarian options. Plenty, however, in the same street. The room was comfortable and quite. No view but it didn't matter.

Room rates very reasonable. Room presented well with all usual amenities provided.
Cleaner reliable and always did a good job.
Buffet breakfast was okay, but great thing is this street has loads of restaurants with great food close by.
Hotel even loaned me an umbrella when it rained to get something which was a nice touch.
Overall a decent priced hotel well presented in a good location.

This hotel is terrific value

This is a terrific hotel in a vibrant street. Great value. The staff speak reasonable English, and the only hiccup that I had was during an early check out the night manager could not find paper for the credit card machine. The is an ATM on the doorstep, and an endless supply of tuktuk drivers who will take you anywhere for $2. Directly opposite is a massage place where I had seriously good massage, that helped fix a problem that I have had for months. It is a legit massage place.

You can find better than this.

Silver River is an older hotel, so it's rather tired. The hallways are dimly lit and the carpet smells and needs renewing. The elevator also shows signs of a lot of use. Our room had a view of the city and had been recently renovated with new floor tiles and fresh paint and drapes. Mind you, we requested a room change after our initial disappointment, and they gladly obliged. Its location is perfect for walking and restaurants. Most other guests were single older men. We wouldn't return.

Nice hotel but a couple of faults

I thought this was a nice enough hotel. good location and the staff was nice enough. breakfast was okay. room cleanliness was very good. A couple of faults...the room electricity has to be activated by placing the key card into a slot when entering the room. when one leaves the room one must removed the key card (thus cutting off all electricity)as one exits the room. the problem with this is the mini fridge turns off. The hotel hassome free bottled wateralong with beer and soft drinks in the room for purchase. but what good is all of that when you have a fridge that shuts off every time you leave the room??? Another constructive criticism... The hotel offers laundry services like all the other hotels. They want the guest to bring their own laundry down to the desk and then remember to pick it up from the dest when it's done. The hotel should take the laundry from the room and return it to the room when finished.

It was a very nice stay. The hotel was very clean and the staff was pleasant. The rooms are large with flat-screen TV's and comfortable beds. They have a restaurant and bar downstairs and it's very clean and the staff was efficient. The restaurant also serves a breakfast buffet in the morning. The hotel is in a great location also. If I return to Phnom Penh, I will definitely stay at the Silver River Hotel.

This is the Best Value

Great hotel. I've stayed in 5 hotels in Cambodia and, overall, this is far and away the best. Room was a little small but perfectly adequate. Not much of a view from the room but so many things more than made up for it. Perfect location, clean room where everything works. Staff friendly, knowledgeable, and with decent English speaking skills. Good restaurant. I will definitely stay there again.

The hotel is like an oasis in the madness that is Phnom Penh, it's right in the middle of the hurly burly of the city and yet inside you could be anywhere, it's so peaceful once you're in your room. Good restaurants and cafes in the street, museums and interesting places are within walking distance. All the staff were wonderful, so helpful and friendly - good staff always make a place!

Great stay at Silver River hotel in a street with numerous great restaurants. There are several nearby streets with many bars and good nightlife. Tuk tuks are cheap and easy to get and cost US$2 or less to get to the bars. Local beers cost between 50 cents and $2.

Great budget hotel, NO NEGATIVES!

Great hotel, booked 3 nights, extended 2 more. Included breakfast was outstanding; 4 hot dishes (different everyday), eggs to order, baguettes, fruit, veggies, coffee, tea, cerial, juice. Elevator appreciated, not always found in a 5 story budget hotel. Staff very well trained and friendly, attention to detail evident. Location is good. Definetely recommend this hotel.

The hotel was very comfortable and close to the riverfront. The breakfast selection was good and they always have a range of fruit. The staff speak a good level of English and are very accommodating. The only complaint I have is that the wifi is a little on the slow side.
