The room was big and clean. It has a desk ‐ that's a pluss for us. The bathroom was a bit cramped. The sink has too much water pressure, so you have to be careful when opening it, for not to make a mess.

The Hotel has a nice rooftop with a bar and a pool, with a beautiful view of the Royal Palace qnd part of the city.

The convenient location and a great view from the rooftop terrace (featuring a decent restaurant & an okay pool & loungers) is what sells this hotel. Room was quiet and clean, quiet A/C that worked well, just the layout is slightly awkward and noticeably not quite up to date; annoyingly the water in the shower was never quite warm enough no matter the time of day. The bed was comfy & slightly on the firm side. Breakfast was fine with eggs made to order. Staff very friendly. Definitely worth the price.

The rooftop was great , on close inspection a little tired but fabulous for looking out over Phnom Penh and lounging by the pool . The bar and restaurant was also on the roof . Always good view plus the breeze up there was refreshing .

This is our favorite hotel to stay at when we are in Phnom Penh. For the cost. We have stayed here several times. I recommend booking a room overlooking the Royal Palace. Convenient location, walking distance to a lot of places. Take a river cruise for only $2 if you Negotiate.

What a difference a week makes

Stayed here last week and it was quite lovely--front desk staff was almost obsequious in their friendliness, the gift shop was well stocked, and the restaurant crew was attentive. This time around, the front desk staff was almost desultory, the anemic air conditioner was no match for the 35C heat, and the attempts at \"fixing\" it were handled by a friendly young man who knew deep down there was no fix. The rooftop bar staff was clearly bored, and the next morning, the breakfast was equally disappointing. Not sure what happened during the week.... Also, the rooms heat up very quickly, so if you leave during the day (since the key card uses an embedded chip to turn on the electricity and the A/C), expect to come home to a sauna. Otherwise, still a great location and an interesting old building, a throwback to the 1970s-80s.

The location is unbeatable! The restaurant staff is nice and they have a great breakfast. The room we stayed in was also great. However, the male receptionist was obnoxious and even tried to downgrade our room telling us there was a leak and later telling us the seventh floor had a similar balcony which is just a flat out lie. The seventh floor balconies are tiny. The one we reserved and had already confirmed our reservation for a week earlier, called twice for that day... had a huge corner balcony with sitting chairs and a jacuzzi. Why wouldn't someone have mentioned this..\"leak\" ... anytime prior.
Never imagined that a person working the front desk at a hotel could be so unfriendly and LIE at least once (about the balcony) and probably twice (about the leak) in the 15 minutes we were forced to interact with him. When we began to get angry, he changed his story about the leak and said we could check in at 2 which turned into 2:15 because they \"were cleaning the room.\" We had called twice about checking in earlier (noon is the time listed on Expedia). He was entirely unfriendly and unhelpful. The kind of person that should never be in any kind of position that deals directly with the public. Never smiled once. BTW, once we finally checked in, there were NO signs of any leaks anywhere. But who knows? Maybe I missed it? I still gave it a good ratiing. Fantastic location and the rest of the staff was quite friendly, especially the restaurant staff.

The only benefit to this hotel is its location and roof top restaurant and pool.

The hotel has not been maintained over the years. It’s worn down, the beds are in poor condition, the shower leaks, and you’ll be lucky to have wifi access.

Breakfast options were limited and at times the main food (not the fruit or bread) didn’t appear until after 7:00/7:15. Breakfast supposedly starts at 6:30.

Don’t bother with a hotel sponsored tuktuk as they charge more and one attempted to take us to an upscale restaurant after he suggested a food stall, clearly hoping to make a commission. He was not happy after we walked out and said we weren’t going to dine where he took us.

The only reliable wifi is in the lobby. We stayed four nights and most often didn’t have any wifi in our rooms - 3rd, 5th, and 6th floors. If you need reliable wifi access or prefer comfort, there are many newer hotels for the same price.

This was my 3rd or 4th time to stay in a ten year span and this will be my last visit.

If you use the skybar and create a tab, make sure you check it carefully. We had extra items put on our bill. They were removed but without an apology. The staff actually said we hadn’t paid for things the day before, we I hadn’t checked the tab but signed.

The only rooms that are worth it are the ones overlooking the palace. It’s a shame they’ve let what used to be a nice hotel fall apart like they have.

Room was clean but needs decorating. No furniture in the very small balcony which we had to pay £15 per night extra for it. Very small crawling insects all over my husbands tablets which were in a tablet box which we didn't realise until we were leaving the hotel at 6 am so didn't see anyone to complain. Loved phnom Penh. Turn right out if hotel, then right again and about 20m there's a little restaurant called three rivers, lovely food, reasonable and the waiter poly was lovely

Ideal boutique oasis with great charm.

This is a gem of a hotel. Boutique a slightly shabby in a charming way. It is superbly located - the nearby Hyatt must be very envious. Facing the park in front of the Royal Palace complex and museum, this gives it quietness and airy spaciousness. The roof top bar/restaurant and pool is an oasis. The staff so friendly and attentive. The location close to the river, minimarts, restaurants, overlooking the palace and about 10 min walk to the night markets was awesome! Although the staff tried to be helpful and friendly, it didn’t make up for the hotel that was “tired”! The hotel had a bit of a backpackers feel. It was in desperate need of a makeover and needed some upgrading and a serious look at faults like flooded rooms and Air Conditioning that didn’t work even though they looked at it 6 times and said we just needed to “wait for the room to cool down” (it didn’t cool down in the three days we stayed there). The staff were quick to jump into action when one of our parties room became flooded by an upstairs bathroom and/or air conditioning unit and for that we were grateful for change of rooms so quickly! I can not ask for friendlier staff, but the hotel itself needs a makeover! If you’re trying to save money it still is a good hotel!

Frangipani Palace Hotel Made Cambodia Wonderful!

The Frangipani Royal Palace Hotel outdid themselves for our short but sweet two night stay. The friendly staff greeted us by name and gave us an upgraded room, along with the welcome drink. I won't repeat my first review, but still as perfect a place. This time, they included even other tropical fruits. In addition to the staples of guava, pineapple, dragon fruit, etc., they had this coconut pumpkin treat, and on another morning, rambutans.

Not a \"modern\" hotel but a good clean place to stay in central Phnom Penh. My fifth floor room overlooked the Royal Palace and the National Museum. We enjoyed the rooftop bar and the complete breakfast. Tip: Take a morning walk through the grounds and courtyards of the Royal University of the Fine Arts for a look at some great contemporary sculpture.

The hotel is situated next to the Royal Palace and most attractions were walking distance.

The staff were also very attentive and accommodated our specific requests.

It’s a period hotel. The decor is slightly tired but the rooms are clean. There’s breakfast which was a mix of Asian breakfast with some Western touches - yogurt and fruits, toast, fried egg, baked beans etc. It was not a huge breakfast but adequate.

It’s aging. There are a ton of new hotels that are nicer for the same price with larger pools and roof top bars. Unless you have a room with a view of the palace, as I did, not sure it’s worth the price. The view is lovely and I’d stay again as long as I could book a room with the palace and museum view.

Just spent 5 nights here over the New Year period. The location is good (right next to the Royal Palace and Riverside), but that's about it. Daily breakfast is average and nothing gets replenished. Get there by 7am or deal with whatever is left!!! The room itself is outdated and there was an issue with the shower where only hot water comes out (incredibly dangerous). The hotel staff are indifferent to guests...ignoring you as you walk past them and rarely acknowledging you at breakfast. We paid extra to stay in a hotel near Riverside with a pool.....sadly the water looked cloudy and unclean, so we did not end up using the pool at all. There is a nice skybar on level 8 with great views and happy hour drink prices each afternoon. Overall a big disappointment and we will not be coming back.

The hotel is in a terrific location, but either we were unlucky or they really need to pull their socks up regarding maintenance. Our toilet backed up constantly and whilst they were very prompt each time in coming to try and clear it, it didn't solve the problem (even though each time they said it was fixed). We stayed two nights and must have called them back 3 or 4 times. Our friends had the same experience with the air-conditioning in their room, and trying to unlock their safe - they came promptly but didn't successfully resolve the problem.

There is so much that this property has to offer. Location, cleanliness, view, nice pool, many offsite meal opportunities nearby.

Some things should change.
1. Room doors should automatically lock for guest security. This is an international hotel and automatically locking room doors is a international standard for guest security.
2. Safes are provided for guests to place valuables. Very important. But when an outside service person, like a plumber, comes to fix something a staff member should stay with that person in a guest room for security of guest possessions.
3. GM and OM need to be responsive to questions. At check out for 4 rooms 10 night the GM was busy and could not meet with me. I left my business card and asked for a call back. No call back has occurred.

I would stay there again. But hope that they address these issues for the international guests they serve.

My overall rating would be higher if management was not so hard to talk with.
