Clean. Maid excellent. But arrived in room and the receptionist pointed out that the AC didn’t work and was either full on or off and remote didn’t work. Nothing he could do. I told him there was a lot he could do. Like get me a new room. He did. And in the new room the safe didn’t work. Next morning they offered to switch rooms for that. I couldn’t be bothered.

Old and gloomy rooms

Unfortunately, the room that I stay is very untidy and dimmed. The furniture in room is really old and should be discarded. Blanket is a thin cloth bedsheet. Floor matt is old and dirty. A small old tv on a table. In all, it’s not good to stay for even a night. Wonder if all the rooms are that poor as this room?

The toilet was blocked from the time we checked in to the room.We notified the hotel staff immediately but they did not fix the problem until next day morning. We requested a spare room next day morning to use the toilet which we got.Luckily ours was only one night stay.

Stayed three weeks and liked it

Angkor International was a good hotel with a pleasant staff and comfortable room in a good location for the bar action around the river front. By booking online with Hotels.com I got a good price for September then in October the price went up.
The problem areas were few and not that troubling. Breakfast was a nice omelet however never any meat and few potatoes, mostly Asian fare (rice, noodles, and vegetables. The wifi was on and off so required so patents, the lighting in the bathroom was very low, and the cable TV had an occasional outage.
The bed was comfortable, the shower warm, the AC good, there is an elevator, and the view on the north facing side is not bad.
You are close to the sights on the river front and the city has a lot to see however the bar area from 104 street to 172 street is a very poor part of town and can be a little depressing.
There are much more expensive hotels and many cheaper rooms that are pretty bad however I was happy with the place and can give it a recommendation.

Staff are not accommodating and a bit strange. They kept on calling the telephone in my room even though I told them it doesn't work and is very annoying as I can't stop it ringing. I had to get a lift downstairs to tell them. I ended up telling them 4 seperate occasions getting more and more frustrated each time. Their excuses were pathetic or blamed each other. Fridge makes room smell. Safety box can easily be ripped off the wall. Windows don't seal well so quite noisy as in city centre. Good thing is it's location and that's it.

Good and Bad! No real Ugly except the room view!

A little mixed feelings about this place. Somehow the arranged airport pickup didn't happen, but there are Tuk Tuks and taxis at the airport, so it wasn't really a problem. The room was very spartan, with no comforter (only a sheet), old furniture that looked like it was picked up at a yard sale, a difficult to use shower inside a tub with no curtain, only two bath towels with no hand towels, an old large non flat screen TV, and a view from the room of a recycling area with rats rooming around at night. With that said, the staff was friendly, the breakfast buffet tasty, and there was an all day restaurant/bar in the hotel with very reasonable prices and good Eastern and Western food, with outside seating. The hotel is within walking distance to the riverfront and the Royal Palace, and the front desk arranged a tour to the Genocidal Museum and Killing Fields, which are not for the faint of heart. There is also a 24 hour convenience store across the street. There are more expensive luxurious hotels in the area, I am sure, so I would look at this hotel room as somewhere to sleep after a day of activities in and around Phnom Penh for a reasonable price.

Nice place, good service and breakfast. There was a problem with the big ibis bus trip back. They forgot to pick us up at the hotel!!??? Ankor hotel put us in their touk touk and chased the bus down on their dime, and we made it.. Thanks Ankor hotel and I will see you next time when I'm back

It is a very worth deal

My friends and I booked two delux rooms .We stayed four days and are very satisfied with the hotel facilities and services. The room and bathroom are big and clean. The counter staffs speak English and very friendly. The wifi is OK, With the price of around 30 US. It is a very worth deal. Palace, Muesuem and a WAT are just within walking distance, and there is also a big local wet market just one minute away.I will book this hotel again when I back to Cambodia.

I took a tuk tuk everywhere so didn't really know how far walking distance to tourist area. Staff spoke excellent english - they helped me arranged driver, bus, and tuk tuk. Room towels were in poor condition. Toilet was weak - did not flush well.

The hotel itself is located within 10 min walk distance from the riverside and right next to quite central market. Be minded especially female guests that it could be dangerous at night walking alone near the hotel. It is very dark and unsafe atmoaphere.

The female hotel staff is not kind. She will treat you like a 25-dollar-cheap-guest and make you feel cheap. No concept of hospitality. I would recommend paying little higher at other hotel and be treated well.

I have been to Phnom Penh 6 times over past 5 years and stayed in much cheaper hotels, which were clean, had friendly, knowledgable staff and where everything worked, e.g. air cond, tv, fridge, water heater. I booked this hotel after reading the reviews on tripadvisor,a nd honestly wonder now what the reviewers were smoking. For US$40/night you can do so much better its ridiculous. First room i was given looked clean but air cond didnt work. I left the air conditioning on 3 hours and room was still a sauna. When i asked for a change of rooms, i was met with an incredulous stare, then insistence by the staff that the air cond was ok, i just needed to shut windows etc as if i was an idiot. After 30 minutes of arguing, i finally managed to get moved to another room. Again the air cond didnt work - air coming out but at 28 degrees only. The water heater didnt work, barely lukewarm water. The room was ostensibly cleaned every day, but the shower still had matted hair there, not sure where from as i barely have any hair left. I would have walked out if we hadnt booked and paid for 3 nights in advance. I stayed at Tintin Hotel, Bolina Palace Hotel on previous trips and was charged US$15/night albeit for a windowless room, but where everything worked! and everything was very very clean. This hotel doesnt even have a phone in the room, everytime i wanted to contact any of my travel mates, i had to take the lift or walk up to their floor. I wouldnt not pay US$10 to stay in this hotel.

A hotel with good service, location, and value

This is a nice little hotel for those on a limited budget. It is conveniently located on a side street that is only a five-minute walk to the bustling riverfront area (Sisowath Quay) where you will find plenty of good restaurants/bars. Right near the hotel, there are a few small shophouse style restaurants, if one desires a taste of real local Cambodian food, and there is also an open-air traditional \"wet\" market where you can buy lots of different kinds of fresh fruits at very low prices, which I really can appreciate. The room I had was really really big, very clean, well maintained, and had a safe and flat screen TV with lots of channels. The internet connection was surprisingly good and fast, which was great. The one and only complaint I have about this hotel is that you can hear street noises starting from about 6:30am, so if you are a light sleeper or a late riser, I would suggest getting a room on the upper floors and one that is not facing the street. Overall, this is a very good hotel that gives good value for your money, and all the hotel front desk staff are very friendly and helpful, which makes it worthwhile to come back on my next visit.

Excellent attentive service that remembered my name, cared about what I wanted to see in Cambodia, and ensured I got there and back safely. Excellent location, comfort of beds a letdown

Apart from the fact that these were the hardest beds we slept on in our four week holiday of Vietnam, the hotel itself was in a great location only 1 minute walk to Ben Tahn market and five minutes to city centre and other major tourist attractions. Conditon of room quite good other than bed issue. Restaurants and convenience stores in very close proximity. Only other let down was that no breakfast included.

I stayed 2 nights in this hotel in Phnom Penh. It is situated near the bus station as well as near the riverfront.
The hotel was clean and the rooms were very good. The staff was friendly and incredibly helpful. The Breakfast was excellent with a wide selection catering to all tastes.

A Fine Hotel

Overall the hotel is a good value, but not great. The location is good, near major tourist sights. The deluxe room is fairly nice. You have to ask for a blanket, the bed is made only with a thin sheet. The lobby was very, very hot and the area near the computers was swarming with ants. The breakfast was great, a very nice addition.

The hotel staff was very helpful and accommodating although English was a struggle. My room was very nice considering my hotel in Siem Reap is not nearly as nice. The breakfast in the morning I thought was delicious. Egg station, fruit, pancakes, French toast, toast, coffee, tea, bacon, sausage, fried rice or miso soup and beans. The hotel is very close to riverfront and all tuk tuk drivers know where it is. However, my iPod went missing from my room. Since I hadn't used it since the day I flew in there is the very small possibility that I lost it between the airport and the hotel but I'm 99% sure that's not the case. It would almost be perfect except this detail.

The hotel is located in a very good location, close to all tourist attraction. The service was good, but the rooms needed to be fixed. We had two family rooms, and they both had water seeping through the wall. The room was big and will fit five people nicely, but the bathroom needs a lot of work. There is nothing to hang towels or cloth when you shower. The sink is just the sink, no space to put anything on there. I would rate the bathroom a 1 if that is an option. We had to put the clothes and towels on a chair outside the bathroom every time we showered. The caulking work inside the bathroom was just horrendous and had mildew.
Other than the bathroom and water leak we had an okay stay. The price was decent, and breakfast is okay, safe to eat for most Westerners.

I had an ok stay. I was assigned to a room in which the air conditioning wasn't working. They assigned me to another room which also had issues with ac. I finally asked for a third room and I was put into a much bigger and nicer one.
The staff is helpful, depending on who you get. One of them told me that to get my visa for Vietnam was going to take 4 days. I went to an agency that did that in 24 hrs.

Decent hotel for the price. Breakfast was good, rooms were good. Cheap draft beer, food was good. Easily walk to other restaurants and convience stores. They warn you not to use tuk tuk outside, but ignore that. Tuk tuk are cheaper outside of hotel. Ask around and you will find the best deal for a tuk tuk outside. Most of the staff were friendly except for the one girl that works the day shift. Maybe she hates her job, but it doesn't make for a warm welcoming feeling. The two gents at night are awesome and funny.

Good hotel, great prices. Breakfast free and good. Unfortunate part of my rating was that for my whole 4 night stay there was very noisy construction going on floors below me and couldn't get sleep in daytime from early day through to late afternoon (I club at late night). Lobby staff tried to help but their hands were tied. Maintenance man for team just kept it up. I would go back, but only if mgr confirmed no inside construction under his control.

We arrived at the hotel having booked through hotels.com and provided a copy of our email confirmation. The hotel told us they didn't have any record of the booking and that we needed to get a booking reference. We were made to feel like this was all our fault. Having already paid for the room we felt this was poor service as they made no effort to contact hotels.com. We were given a room to have as an 'unofficial' check in which was of poor standard. The window didn't fully close and the room overlooked a Cambodian family's balcony with a wailing cat. On check out our issue was resolved and our payment was found, however, until this point we were made to feel like we didn't belong there and our room wasn't cleaned on our second day meaning we had wet and dirty towels. The location is good and it is presented well in the lobby, however the rooms don't match up to this.

Beware of the tuk tuk drivers, even recommended by the hotel, ours tried to charge us extra after he took us on a round trip the hotel arranged for us at a set price. To get to the river from the hotel
Is a short walk, but you have to go through a food market which has very alarming and strong smells throughout.

I stayed in this hotel on 3rd and 9th March 2014 for 2 nights.on the first stay every thing went well and I wrote a very positive review.When I returned for the second stay they could not retrieve my booking from the booking ID then allotted room 102 which was low in standard compared to the first stay and the Wi-Fi did not work either.after checking out one more room 410 which was larger but exactly similar to 102 otherwise they allotted 516 which was good.the whole thing took more than 40 minutes to sort out.
When choosing this hotel one has to be mindful of the room being allotted as descriptions like standard superior etc do not adequately inform you of the differences between the two types.
Also Wi-Fi is slow and erratic

I stayed in a superior standard room which was quite comfortable and well serviced.the hotel has been recently renovated.the buffet breakfast had a good variety of items.staff were courteous and helpful .location is a big advantage being within walking distance of Royal Palace ,the river, and restaurants. Wi Fi connection was a bit erratic and slow but would defintely recommend this hotel for budget travellers.

A place to be with a friend

This place is owned by French people. Breakfast is included, not much selection to choose from. The bar is decent, they make good coffee and pasta dishes. When I stayed here, I would explore the city throughout the day, and come back at night and spend countless hours sitting outside the hotel's seat, catching-up with my friend while smoking, drinking, etc. It was a enjoyable stay. A good place to just sit, and talk to your companion. Rooms here are quite small, there is no swimming pool or gym, the staffs here are great, and I would recommend this place if you plan on staying in Phnom Penh.

Basic hotel, overpriced

Is in a good location if you want to be downtown. The hotel is in a nice old building but it's very tired with cheap rennovation efforts everywhere. Very basic amenities and breakfast not at all good. Ants everywhere and the milk was off.

Good location but disappointing room

I think you can get better value for your money in another hotel. If you are planning a quick trip the stay is not so bad and its close to the major attractions. But book another hotel for a longer stay, something cleaner and more comfortable.
Don't forget to visit the night market!

Great stay! You won't be disappointed:)

We've been travelling around and having stayed at many places we must say the staff was very friendly, welcoming and attentive. Everyone we came across, be they cleaners, cooks, front desk, waiters were incredibly wonderful -That in itself made our stay memorable.
We only had a little problem with our toilet not flushing but they fixed it straight away.
The complimentary breakfast was delicious (great way to start the day! ) and very good location near markets, plenty of places to eat and walking distance from River st and main attractions.

Desk staff was very helpful. Booked the bus travel from the front desk for us. Breakfast was great. Room was adequate. For seasoned travelers, neighborhood very interesting. For others, they might not be comfortable. Cable TV, small frig, a queen bed, A/C, small bathroom, hot/cold water in shower. Towels, soap, toothbrushes w/paste and combs came with the room. Cleaning staff were more than willing to give us clean towels and supplies when needed. Fairly quiet.

Average hotel near the tourist attractions.

Stayed in this hotel for four nights with two friends. On our first day at Phnom Penh, the reception staff assigned us to a room that was yet to be cleaned. We had to talk to the housekeeping staff to request for a room change. The bed and pillow that I slept on were also uncomfortable for me since the mattress kept making squeaking noise whenever I turn. What's even more appalling was that there wasn't any blanket provided. The beds were made with a layer of cloth. Bathroom is just alright since it looks really old. I'm disappointed that the water wasn't even warm even though there was a water heater.

The only few good things about this hotel is the location and convenience to main tourist attractions and convenience stores. The wifi connection is fast, and the continental breakfast is still decent although it could be improved with more varieties.

So having said that, I still think it's better to spend more money somewhere else for a more decent accommodation.

Hotel staff provided cheerful welcome and assistance.

Best experience in the hotel was the breakfast which had limited choice but was of good quality.

Room was merely acceptable and did not have a warm feel to it.

Close to Central Market and Riverside.

Nice Location

Stayed from Dec. 31, 3013 till Jan. 2, 2014. Large clean room in great location within 2 minutes to interesting local fresh produce market and 5 minutes to National Museum as well as the King's palace near Mekong River. Plenty of delicious local food and fruit drinks at the end of the street at very low cost. Hotel staffs very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet with selection of ham, bacon, omelette, fried tomato, pan fried potato, baked beans, pan cake and french toast and hot & cold beverages. Excellent value.

Arrived at 10.30 after a long days travelling only to be told they haven't any rooms even though I had booked and paid. They then hurried is into a tuk-tuk (they even said they would pay the tuk-tuk fee as it was their fault!!) and moved us to another hotel a few blocks away.
Certainly not what you want after a delayed flight.
The Hotel they moved us to was average at best and breakfast very poor. Please double check this hotel has a room if you book here.

Lots of potential, but poorly run and designed

When we arrived the hotel had lost our reservation, which took quite a while to sort out, including first showing us to the wrong room. The bathrooms were really poorly designed, with no towel rails, and the shower holder was positioned such that water went all over the bathroom. A shame since the fixtures are reasonable quality, the room sizes good, and the hotel recently refurbished.

Good hotel for price and location

I didn't particularly wish to return to this hotel but it was better the second time. I stayed in two different rooms on two occasions. One was better than the other. The lower rooms facing the street corner can be noisy with tuk tuk drivers talking & joking at all hours. Both rooms had windows with OK views. It is a large hotel and so lacks some character. The addition of a painting (which I noticed was in some rooms) would be an improvement so it wasn't so forgettable. The staff were a bit offhand as part of their demeanor occasionally but always helpful.

Super Friendly Service

For the price of this hotel I would find it difficult to be critical. The location is good, only minutes from the river, the staff were so lovely on arrival, a cold welcome drink, much appreciated after a long journey. The room was more than adequate. A vibrant food market on your doorstep. Staff very helpful when you have any queries or problems, all told a value for money hotel.

Great location and amazing price

Booked this hotel based on reviews and because it was within our price range (on a budget) I have to say I was very pleased and it exceeded my expectations. Really nicely decorated hotel, clean comfy room, polite staff. Couldn't have asked for any more considering the great price I paid. Would definitely recommend.

Great Hotel, Great Location, very clean

Great value for money. Our Room was great, bed good, everything worked. It was spotless when we moved in and as much as I tried to make a mess I couldn't as they kept tidying up. Front Desk staff had good English and were helpful. Looked at less expensive hotels but they did,'t compare. Great location too.
