Worst accommodation in 5 months of travelling Asia

Nothing like the pictures show. We book one of the nice new looking places and without mentioning anything to us, he gives us the worst room in accommodation history. We booked for 2 people, and it's a 1 bedroom room, but not just that, it honestly looked like it could all crumble in seconds. Seeing that room, which looked like it could be filled with rats, made us not even want to stay there even if he gave us the picture looking room, knowing how disgusting the owners kept it. Maybe because the corridors were also in that horrible state. We wanted an immediate cancellation, which he agreed to, but have never received anything for a cancellation. It's super hard to contact hotels.com with the coronavirus and we went 3 days in a row asking for money since it had already gone through and every time they declined, the first 2 days saying come back tomorrow, and the last day just told us we can't get our money in cash, even though they had our money through an online payment.

We didn't like anything. The room, contrary to the advertizement, was very small, no furniture other than a night table. Things that didn't work: telephone, broken shower head. Partially broken: door lock, toilet seat, flushing buttons. In the sink, very little water flowing with the tap fully opened. The stairs to get to the room (2 flights up) so steep and the steps so narrow we thought we were on a pirate ship. No room service unless you ask for it. Regular power outages, unlike other hotels around, no emergency generator. Luckily, we had a SUPERIOR room, which only means we had a window. STAY AWAY.

Very disappointed; rude personable, dirty place: mess in the lobby, lots of bugs in the room, bed is uncomfortable, old mattress and smelly pillows.
Person at the reception at check out had bad manners and was rude, when we tried to leave our bags, even though we were checking out at 7am. It was the worse experience in regards of the room and the service. Avoid this place by all means

Ankor Mithona Guesthouse : I felt cheated!

I felt cheated whether is by Expedia or Ankor Mithona Guesthouse! The guesthouse was terrible. Aircon is not working, room without window, TV is not working, Wifi is not good. They gave me a 4th floor room. There is no elevator and I have to climb the stiff staircase for 4 floors! The place ilooks so terrible; like a ghost house! I request to change room the staff said ok I waited in the room for 30minutes and he just went home without serving my request!
I would like to request for refund! Or at least the hotel is not wiorth for what I paid. The most it only worth USD10-15/day!

Worst Accommodation ever!

Toilet is horrible very bad planning, toilet door faulty can't lock at all, toilet roll holder faulty, odour on room, bed linen odour, room is noisy, bad toilet amenities, no security for own property, no hair dryer, no lift for passengers (people with heavy luggage and leg problem be vary) staircase is very narrow. no room facilities like hot water boiler, cups for coffee/tea. Bed squirky and noisy, not comfortable at all. Air-conditioning position wrong one side cold. Room curtains can't be closed properly.
If your a tall person the toilet ceiling is too low.Toilet bowl need to flush twice.
Food and beverage sold in this Guesthouse is so much more pricier than other HOTELS!

Yucky rooms!

We booked and prepaid two nights on hotels.com. Our room on the first night was pretty bad - upon entering the room we called down to reception to ask to be changed to another room. Unfortunately the entire hotel was booked - we decided to suck it up and stay the night. You definitely get what you pay for at this hotel - we understood that and stayed for our two prepaid nights. Just be prepared for a not so nice room. Our first room was carpeted and the carpet was soaking wet at the entrance to the room. It appeared they had tried to clean up some kind of stain that had also occurred in the hallway - there was a Citronella incense burner going in our room to try and mask whatever it was they had to clean up (didn't want to think about it too hard). The sink tap had only a small trickle of water so we were using the shower head to brush teeth, wash face, etc. There were large holes in the drywall, and holes in the bathroom door, which also didn't have a handle or a latch. There was no water at all in our bathroom for about an hour in the evening. It came on again in time for us to have a shower later.
The second night we got moved to the room next door which was marginally better (no holes in the wall, water pressure was a bit better, no wet carpeted floor!). On another note, the food was decent downstairs though you could find an identical breakfast for a dollar or two cheaper down the road. That said, we wouldn't stay here again.

Great location

I had room 305. It was a five floor walkup, no lift. The carpet was dirty and there was a structural support diagonally across my bathroom. I think I had the worst room in the hotel, but it at least had a window. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and very helpful.The hotel restaurant served good food including a decent approximation on an English breakfast.

My home in Phnom Penh

Situated in a part of town that provides a bunch of good experiences. Stroll 2 blocks and sit in a cafe, or bar, and watch the Mekong River meander past.
Closer you have a myriad of open air food stalls covering seafood, chicken, various types of meat, at ridiculously cheap prices. Bars are varied and plentiful.
The bar/ cafe at Angkor Mithrai
Is a delight in all respects.

A good budget choice

The staff here are brilliant and is the main reason I didn't give 3 stars rather than 4. Hotel is a little tired now and needs some attention.

Rooms at the front have windows which may as well not be there at all. Every sound from the street can be heard and the locals starts work before 7am normally.

However... I would stay here again due to the cost and brilliant staff. Excellent restaurant and good prices with Street 172 having an even bigger choice. Recommended.

Very dirty hotel, water was leaking all over the floor, money was stolen from room, cats everywhere. Would not recommend, been travelling Asia for over a month, stayed in other budget hotels which were far superior and this was by far the worst and not even the cheapest.

We stayed in Angkor Mithona Guesthouse for 3 nights and it was okay. There's really nothing special with the guesthouse, room was okay, not too clean but nothing really bothered us. Aircon was good, neighbourhood was actually quite nice and the guesthouse was close to the main attractions. If you are looking for a place to sleep in the city center for couple of nights it should be definitely okay!

Worst hotel I've ever been in.

Disgusting room. No windows, small, spiders and spider webs in the room, when I lifted the pillows... there was a disgusting amount of garbage between the bed and the wall. Absolutely unacceptable! And the linen and towels felt and smelled like they were never washed, just purfume sprayed on or something like that. And the drain in the sink was nasty... I don't even know what was in there and how long it's been there.

Cheap accommodation with basic room comfort

Room amenities are very basic (cable tv, wifi, hot water bath and free mineral water) but room size is small. Steep stair case without lift. Not much complaint since room rate is cheap and reception staff is friendly.

Just Awful.....

Room was disgusting...bugs everywhere, place smelled of sewage and door to bathroom would not close. Also, someone else prior to us had apparently been so upset by the door not closing that they put their fist through it. We got in at 2am, so we did not put up a fight. We could barely sleep with how bad the smell was. Also, \"working girls\" were in and out of neighbor's rooms each night. This place was the biggest disappointment of my 3 month stay in SE Asia, but the same price as all the rest.....it was just sickening. We were only there to sleep and shower, thank goodness.

Budgetest guest house

2 nights stayed, excercised a lot with climbing up the 3rd floor. The toilet smelled bad. No elevator. No window. Its hard to breathe in the room while temperature was too cold or too hot :( And mosquito!!!
But of course what I paid is what I received!

Budget Hotel on Busy Street

The staff is fantastic, knowledgeable and super friendly. We were also given discounts on the in-house massage services as customers of the hotel. It is a budget hotel, so the room was fairly small, but the bathroom was surprisingly spacious (despite the low ceiling) and had cute black and white tiles. There were plenty of hooks in the room and bathroom to hang our \"hand washed\" clothes. The A/C unit was strong and well-functioning. A TV came with the room, but we did not watch much of it as we had a lot on our agenda to spend 2 nights in Phnom Penh. We tried out the massage, but I was not so pleased with mine. My friend got the soft massage and really enjoyed it. I wanted the Thai Style (stronger) massage, but I definitely got a girl who had no idea what she was doing and didn't engage in the services professionally. She just squished my thighs and calves for about 30 minutes that did some twisting and scratching my scalp - very bizarre and utterly disappointing. Thankfully, it was so cheap ($7 for 60 minutes). The front desk staff spoke English very well, so they were helpful in guiding us on how to plan our day. We wanted to go to the Killing Fields, Tuol Sleng, and Independence Monument. We ended up walking most of it, then found a tuk tuk driver later on to take us to the bus station with our backpacks.

Ok hotel with a great restraunt and location

No, this isn't the greatest hotel in the world. However, it is priced decently and is clean. I stayed in the \"suite\", and while not a suite to anyone else than this hotel, it had everything I needed - a bed, a desk, tv, etc.

What the hotel does offer is a clean place to sleep, an excellent restaurant and an excellent location. The restaurant has great food at reasonable prices (for a hotel) and you really can't ask for a location that is better for the price. You are a block away from the National Museum, 2 blocks from the Riverside, 3 blocks from the Royal Palace, on a good street for bars, a block from a local market (not a tourist market like Central or Russian), and in the perfect location to enjoy the quaint streets of the area - including a nice walk to Wat Phnom.

The only real problems were noise. I had was what was supposed to be a private balcony was anything but and several nights guests decided to congregate directly in front of my room which made it very hard to sleep. The second noise related problem is what I think is the exhaust for the kitchen - it is very loud when it turns on.

Good location, awful customer service

We booked to see angkor wat with out guesthouse. The owner was meant to take us but he didn't bother to get up so we had to find another driver which meant we missed sunrise.

Family run which is awkward as it seems that the wife and kids sleep in the reception area so that makes things uncomfortable if you're up early/late.

Bathroom door didn't shut let alone lock, TV doesn't work, bedding wasn't clean.

Only good thing was the location.

This hotel is terrible. When we first arrived the manager told the girl at the front desk to put us in a dirty room, not realizing my boyfriend speaks Khmer. So he said no we want a different room and they took us to one that was absolutely disgusting. The walls were covered in mold, the room reeked like mold, the bedding had hair all over it and the bathroom smelled like urine. We asked for a different room and they said they were full (which I'm sure was a lie) so we left the hotel with no refund or apology. Don't waste your money or time.

We have backpacked through Asia and this was the worst place we have stayed in.
Staff were not helpful. The pictures online look nothing like the room. We had a king standard room. No windows, no ventilation, the ceiling was full of mould, the room smelt like sewage, no sink, location wasn't great, don't book any tours or transport at the hotel as it is expensive. Wifi was patchy. Please spend an extra dollar or 2 and book a room somewhere else.

An incredible disappointment

The room was extremely disappointing as it looked nothing like the photos. It was tiny (about the size of a queen bed - literally had to crawl into bed due to no space on either side), windowless, dated and dirty. Even though we paid very little for the room, there are countless hostels available for the same price (if not cheaper) that would have been an incredible improvement from this dump.

Bait and Switch

I booked the Suite room listed on hotels.com as 30 m2. When I tried to check-in they informed me that the Suite room was under \"maintenance\" and wasn't available. They offered to downgrade me to a Deluxe room that was was listed as 25 m2 and then throw in a free breakfast which was normally not included. After I agreed to their offer, but when they showed me the room, it was not a Deluxe room, it was actually a Superior Room. The Superior room was listed online as 20 m2, but it's actually less than 15 m2. I did call hotels.com customer service to complain about their switcheroo antics and they comped the room for me, so it wasn't too bad for a free night I guess.

This place is listed as a 3-Star hotel, but it's actually more like a 1-Star budget hotel. The curtains wouldn't close all the way and I had to use tape to keep the sunlight out. There's a desk and chair in the room but the chair is hard, which is not good for a full day's work. I ended up pulling the desk against the bed and just sitting on the bed instead. The bedsheets were old and pilled up. And you don't have a proper duvet and duvet cover, you just have a thin sheet and that would serve as your blanket. There were other people's hair on the sheets as well. I wouldn't recommend this place for couples because the rooms are so ghetto, you wouldn't be able to get in the mood. It's ok for a budget solo traveler for one night.

quite okay for one night stay on a transit... but not for longer. I dont know what the building was originally meant for, but it was for sure not for accommodating humans. Very low ceilings (so you're constantly banging your head into something, and there is not enough air for sleeping), stairs in the door, etc. make it pretty weird place. Not very good restaurant either. But there are amazing restaurants in the neighbourhood, and the location is overall pretty good. I would choose another place next time.

There are a lot of sightseeing around so you won't get bored, just around the corner you can find national museum, temple, king palace, shopping district, lots of bars and restaurants. We booked family room for 3 ppl, it was good size , everything youneed, clean and with a good city view from the balcony. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. But there is no elevator in this building so if you request an upper floor, be ready!

Lovely location. Street 172 has been my haunt for 15 years. I've seen it go from dark to backpacker bright along with the rest of P.P. Love the shared balconies, big enough for yoga or a little party, stay on top floor for a great view of the city and Wat (no elevator=2 minutes of exercise folks!). Classic example of Phnom Pehn curved corner building architecture. Good restaurant.

Rude housekeepers for my stay. Asked for a tip up front, then actively hostile (and I speak dik dik Khmer) from then on. Moved just because of them.

Basic, clean guesthouse

Basic guesthouse, the reception is efficient and helpful. The room and the hotel overall is clean. Pool is nice. Few drawbacks: the AC in the room was faulty, there is almost absolutely no hot water pressure for shower any time the day. During my stay was only 3 local tv channels. Night porter/ owner(?) arrogant and unprofessional what is somewhat compensated by the extra friendly day reception ladies.

totalement fausses, la chambre 12 m2 pour 18 m2 annoncé , le nettoyage la chambre a été fait 1 fois sur une semaine ( et encore à ma demande).

The room smelled of mold, after waking up there were cockroaches in the bathroom. Halls smell of catpee and cat brings dead animals inside that nobody cleans. We put our own sheets on the bed and used our own towels. There is 1 tuktuk driver that is absolutely great. The first cambodian person who did not try to rip us off. He is in front of the hotel a lot so of you are around - look tor that guy with the pink earplugs:).
