The rooms were so tastefully done, cleaned each day, and very comfortable. Staff were excellent. Very easy to communicate with and at the desk 24 hours. The hotel had every amenity around it - shopping, restaurants, metro, lovely walking areas, historic sites, grocery stores.

Not so great. I booked this room because of the positive reviews. We had a Triple luxury suite. Overall the room was gloomy and not maintained. The cords to open/ close the drapes were broken and tangled on the floor. The carpet on the stairs was grimy. The two beds upstairs were comfortable but the single bed downstairs was uncomfortable and had a “well used” cover on it and we were invited to make it up with the linens in the closet. Breakfast was OK . Another positive …the windows when shut did a good job of silencing “ most” of the outside noise. Dissapointing.

Charming hotel in a fantastic neighborhood close to many shops, restaurants and easily walkable to notable tourists sites. City train is less than 5 minute walk.
The period decor suits the historic nature of the building but does come with a very small elevator and steep stairs to navigate.
The breakfast area is very small but is very lovely in converted cellar with coved ceilings. The variety of food isn’t huge but is satisfying.
The family sized room was much bigger than we expected with a main room plus a secondary space with 2 single beds for kids along with a very large bathroom for Parisian standards. The beds were very comfortable and the room was spotless. Our room faced the inner courtyard so was very quiet at night, we slept with the windows open with no problem. Of note there didn’t appear to be any air conditioning that could be problematic in the summer months but was fine for our Spring visit.
Would highly recommend and would stay again if in Paris.

Location brilliant for exploring Le Marais and the whole of Paris. Very friendly staff and overall okay. The main thing letting the hotel down is the quality of sleep. We were quite tired each day. The beds are extremely firm. Rooms were warm and no air con meant leaving windows open. Noisy with street cleaning around 6-7am. Hope this helps.

Most horrible room I have ever stated at.

I am honestly shocked that this room is being charged at $285 per night. The space is extremely small, outdated, and uncomfortable, with broken amenities and no air conditioning. The condition was closer to what one might expect from a budget motel, not a property charging premium rates. Even the hangers in the closet were broken, which reflects the overall neglect.

When I raised concerns at the front desk, I was told, “Yes, Americans don’t like this room.” With respect, this has nothing to do with nationality. I’ve traveled to 72 countries and more than 300 cities, and America is my adopted home — I know the difference between cultural preferences and basic hospitality standards.

To make matters worse, the staff member was unfamiliar with “La Baguette Du Relais,” a well-known restaurant located just around the corner. This lack of care and awareness, both in service and in facilities, leaves a very poor impression.

At $285 a night, this experience was unacceptable.

The service was excellent and the room was beautiful! The bed was comfortable but the tub was very high - anyone older might have difficulty getting in/out of the shower. There was no AC, but the air from the windows was sufficient. Breakfast was very good, and the orange juicing machine squeezed fresh oranges (DELICIOUS). Great location.

Great property in a great area that was easy to navigate. Felt like a true French experience but I would say that my husband who is 6’4 wasn’t able to stand up in the shower as the roof was low so maybe consider if you are tall. Loved the amenities and two floor layout of our room.

There was lots of hustle and bustle on the main street, but it was quiet once you got to the hotel. The building is quite old and the place a bit dated, but that's part of the charm. Since it's summer, air-conditioning would have been nice (they had lots of fans around the room), but I understand why there is none.

Room rather small, comfy bed, no air con just two fans, but it was in a Paris heatwave with temps over 39 degrees. Could have done with some more electric sockets!

Staff very friendly and helpful, good breakfast. Enjoyed our stay just a pity about the heat.

Our stay was not great. We had a second stay booked here which we cancelled after the 3rd night of not sleeping.

There is no in-room AC in this hotel, so beware if you're booking in the summer! The neighbourhood is quite loud (expected for the Marais), but you can't close the window or the room will be too hot. As well, our window faced the delivery area for the Monop' next door, which added to the noise when 5am deliveries began every day.
Maybe in the winter or shoulder seasons it would be fine to keep the window closed, but we did not have that option.

There is a cat in the hotel. It pooped on the hallway carpet one night, and it was not cleaned up for at least 24h. The lobby smells like cat pee. Our room was clean enough.

Staff is fine, no issues with them specifically.

This is a classic boutique hotel in Paris. The rooms were wonderful but small with little storage other than a closet. No AC which could be problematic in the summer. There are stairs- even though they also have an elevator. The breakfast was great. The best feature was the location in the Marais. Walkable , safe, not touristy, and really enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Horrible experience at this hotel.

Firstly, I was charged for my toddler as an adult, they forced us to upgrade our room (vs what was booked on Hotels.com). Despite this, the hotel did not provide a proper extra bed while charging us extra.

The noise levels were unbearable. We could hear everything from outside and from neighboring rooms, which made it difficult to sleep. The lack of proper curtains only made things worse, allowing light and noise to enter the room.

Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. There are better options available in the area, and I will never go back.

The woman at the front desk was so lovely to our son even when he talked her ear off every time he saw her (he’s 4). This is a difficult re iee because the service, breakfast, breakfast room and location was was a 5 star plus. The room and decor was interesting. Decor was \"heavy\" and areas needed ipfrading, i.e. worn carpets, paintng. Hotel needed some \"cleaning up\" but it was warm, welcoming, clean and 5 star in many ways. We enjoyed our stay.

Perfectly positioned in the Marais, with its abundance of shops, cafes and restaurants, the Bretonnerie oozes old school charm and character. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful; my room was bright and clean. And it was a special pleasure to meet Guimauve, the hotel's resident cat, who ambles around as if she owns the place. You can’t beat the location. The Marais is a great area with plenty to do: dining, shopping, metro station, and going out for a drink. The staff is very friendly. The only thing I would bring up is that the hotel could use a bit of an update. The decor is not an issue, more so the room facilities. It’s quite uncomfortable trying to take a shower if you’re not accustomed to taking a bath; having a shower handle just hanging out is not conducive to taking a comfortable shower. And tv reception was not the best.

Older hotel but decent sized room for two. Staff very helpful. Good breakfast value in the basement for 15€. In walking distance to the Seine, Louvre, Musee D’Orsay and Notre dame. We walked to the Eiffel Tower but that may be out of some people’s preferred range. We also walked to the Arc de Triomphe and Champs D’Elysee but you could always Uber or taxi for those from the hotel. Our room was a bit noisy for sleeping from people on the street but other rooms might be better. We stayed in 108.

Staff and property are really outstanding. I'll highlight the location. The neighbour is really lively with plenty of options for food/shopping. It's at a walkable distance from the river, Saint Chapelle, Latin quarter and Bastille. And there's bus/underground to go to the city centre, we took one bus from the hotel to the Eiffel tower and it went through most of the Paris highlights

Lots and lots of food options, but do pre-book is my advice. PS we both became besotted by the very vocal hotel cat who we were told was on a \"regime\" as she was carrying a trifle too much largesse :-) highly recommended

Darling hotel in excellent location.

This place was great. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for us, in the heart of Le Marais. The room was small but wonderfully decorated, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom and shower very good. The only challenges were the lift (slow and tiny), and the absence of any attractive view from the room we were in. Overall, however, two thumbs up!

We were put in a room where the ceiling height was as low as 1.60 com some places including the bathroom and the bedroom. We ended up hitting our head 5 times! They really push the norms in this hotel.
There is also no air conditioning in the rooms.
