I'll be very honest about this place. It's set in such a great area - for restaraunts, cafes, shopping.. A+ area! It's a very small boutique hotel, which is fine however, there are barely any staff working there. I would say 1 person at the desk who is in charge of everything. Sometimes there's an extra person. Rooms are interesting looking and cute, however there is a huge issue: noise. The room makes a very weird noise at night and I honestly couldn't sleep the first night at all. Facilities aren't great - you can do better to be honest with whatever price you are paying for this hotel. Even if you sacrafice on location and go to somewhere further, maybe its better because you get a better hotel.

Very pretty, very clean and wonderful location. But very noisy ... not just the noise of the road (I was in room 101 - facing the street, just one floor up), but also the noise of the people talking in room 102 next door (to the point that I could hear what they were saying), the noise of the elevator, and some strange noises of hot water / pipes which would come at odd hours ... including 3am. You could hear all of these loud and clear.

Mold around bathroom. Shower leaks onto the floor. Closet unusable because of useless (paid) minibar taking up the space that should hold bags. Included breakfast was okay but pastries and croissants not fresh or high quality. Breakfast coffee tasted like was served from cartridge machine instead of made fresh.

Maison Saintonge is a charming quirky boutique hotel in one of my favorite areas of the Marais. Keep in mind if you book a superior room, it’s internally an air shaft, at the bottom of which is a lounge. Other gusts can sit in that lounge and when they talk the sound travels all the way up through the air shaft so these rooms are quite loud. Book an executive or higher level room for more space. Bathrooms are tiny but efficient. Stay here for the location and competitive rates compared to other boutique hotels in the area. The staff is attentive and helpful.

This hotel is a joke. The executive room so called is so small!!!! There is hardly room
for your suitcase. The air conditioner didn’t work. The bathtub faucet didn’t work properly. Breakfast is really good but very expensive. I hate to say that- but I really don’t recommend this hotel. Not a good experience for us. More than that- it is not a cheap hotel. I expected so much more. Very very disappointed!

The Property was fair. The location was great. Good neighborhood walkable to restaurants, attractions, subway. It is Expedia and The Property mgnt I had trouble with. I booked the hotel for 4 nights and was billed By Expedia upfront for entire stay, but broke my wrist and could only stY 2 nights b/c had to fly home for surgery. When I called Expedia on the very day you could still call to make changes in the reservation but 4 hours later than time stated, I was told they would check with the hotel and get back to me with 48 hrs, which they did. Expedia states that the Hotel would not allow a refund. When we arrived at the hotel we asked about this contact and they said they never heard from Expedia. The cancellation policy says that if you cancel or change you get charged for the first night plus taxes etc, but we were staying two nights and I had a Dr.’s note that I needed surgery and had to make changes in my vacation. The assistant at the hotel contacted Expedia and they told us they couldn’t help us, that it was the Hotel... this game was very frustrating and time consuming with calls! When Expedia turned us down for help again, I finally got a hold of the Hotel mgnt and he was semi rude saying they had never heard from Expedia. He said that he could comp me 2 days if I ever came back to Paris and that he would send me an email to confirm. 4 days go by and I don’t hear from him... so, I reviewed the Hotel and received a email within hrs. Will not use Expedia again.

Hotel was clean and friendly staff. Nice housekeeping. The location was excellent. However, I decided to use the laundry service & for 25 pieces of clothes I was charge 500 euros ($560) this ruin my experience in Paris and for the rest of my trip, as I was looking forward to Disneyland with my son and had to cancel because I couldn’t afford this. Upset and mad for something I been saving for months I couldn’t accomplish it because of this terrible service. The clothes itself is not worth that much money. I probably should of had refused to pay but I hate to be that person, especially coming from the U.S and working in the fine dining restaurant industry. I should of looked at the paper but the front desk was waiting at my doorstep at 8am. I wasn’t quoted a price in the first place. That’s unacceptable, I was just told it could be a lot of it could be cheap. This review is specifically for families traveling with small children & need clothes to get laundry done. Don’t do it, find an alternative.

This is a charming hotel and gives a better feel for this part of the city, however the rooms are very, very small. The photos are the biggest distortion of the truth I've ever seen for a hotel listing. You can barely walk around the bed. In the photos they've removed some of the furniture to create a better sense of space.

Also, staff entered our room TWICE WITHOUT EVEN KNOCKING.

Our room was quite small, but we were there to see Paris and not lounge in our room. The great service makes this hotel worth staying it. The location is very good as well.

Arriving on a sunday, having requested a twin room very specifically was disappointed that they had not done this, even when asked again.!

Pros: The location is great and the staff was friendly and helpful. Everything was clean. The breakfast spread was very nice, however it is served is a basement area that feels a bit like a dungeon.
Cons: The room was very tiny, basically just enough room for the small bed and some walls. The bathroom was pretty terrible. The toilet is right up against a wall so you have to sit sideways on it and there was not showerhead in the tub, just a handheld sprayer. Also the walls are thin so we could hear our neighbors very clearly and the plumbing sounds are quite loud.

A small hotel is often rated by the quality of its reception staff. Sonia and Mariane and the rest of the front desk staff were welcoming and charming throughout our four-day stay. For a small, reasonably priced hotel, it is very comfortable as well as excellently located.

Great location! Very close to many great shops and restaurants just around the corner or within a 3 min walk. Area is safe and not crowded like other tourist areas. The staff are very nice and accomondating. While the rooms are small, they are pretty standard size for Paris. Rooms are very clean and everything seems quite new.

Location is perfect, not far from a lot of amenities and interesting spots but in a small street. The street was quiet but the hotel itself a little noisy, with lots of unpadded chairs dragging while cleaning, some banging and loud conversations in the patio. The staff was nice when we noted it and they tried to minimize it. Breakfast was good too.

Cute small hotel in great area

This was a really nice hotel, great location in Le Marais - on a side street so so it wasn't busy in the immediate area, but in under 5 minutes walk you were on the main streets of Le Marais with shops, cafes, bars, restaurants etc. The room was small (as all Paris rooms are) but very clean and comfortable. The shower was great! The only downside was that the building is quite old I think, so the soundproofing from the room above me wasn't good - I could hear people walking around and the water pipes were very loud when they used the toilet/shower.

Hotel staff was amazingly wonderful and friendly - tolerated with a big smile my attempt to speak French and they spoke English too, so I could revert back...bed was soooooo comfy, small balcony but great view of the street, coffee/tea in room & a small fridge. The area is wonderful - we only stayed one night but I will definitely go again. Wifi & tv perfect.

Lovely hotel in the heart of the Marais

The place looks very nice from the street and as you enter. At first I was disappointed with my room because there was no window and the dark color of the room and its contents were dreary. They gave me a different room which made all the difference. It still didn't look out on anything (ask for one of THOSE!), but it felt upscale and pleasant. The young woman at reception was warm and helpful. I only did the breakfast there once (you can get a very nice breakfast at a bar or cafe that's half the cost - unless you want a lot of food, in which case the breakfast downstairs is very nice). Anyway, I certainly recommend this place to anyone, and may well stay here again in the future.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and nicely decorated. The hotel is well-located. The only downside is the size of the rooms; they are quite small. It is not an issue if you have small luggage, but travellers with a lot of heavy luggage might find it a bit inconvenient.
Overall, this hotel was very good value, I would definitely recommend it.

A Hit or Miss? you decide

The hotel is wonderful in many respects. I have stayed there now twice. The first visit was great. The most recent less so, My room the second time was alright except there were no blackout shades for sleeping. And the bathroom was really tiny. I felt a bit disappointed that it was on the expensive side for these reasons.
My last recommendation to staff and management is to please provide steaming hot coffee. Coffee at breakfast was made hours earlier and was lukewarm at best at 9am. Otherwise, why not.

Brilliant stay in Paris. This hotel was wonderful and central. The only negative was the room was a bit noisy with doors slamming as people went around the corridors. also cleaners start early and make lots of noise talking loudly and clattering about from before 8am. Which when your on holiday and you want a lay-in from all your sightseeing can be annoying

Great location, small room

The room was clean, comfortable and nicely finished, however, extremely small. The staff were friendly and helpful and actually knew English which was a big plus! The location is great, a big out of the central area but walking distance from everything you might need and public transportation. There are lots of museums within walking distance and plenty of pleasant caffes and shops.

Everything was nicely done. Staff were pleasant and no fuss. The room was clean and didn't give the feeling that it everything was done on the cheap. It was a truly pleasant stay.

The location is superb, in the heart of the Maria's. There are numerous excellent Maraias cafes within a few minutes walk.

Only caution is - room would be a bit small for a couple and the bathroom are too small. Toilet was crammed up and the shower head could not be fixed, so its a hand held shower only.

Good, but tiny room in great location.

The hotel is quite new with friendly staff. Our room was very nice, but also very small though - we would not have been able to fit a check-in size suitcase each. Also our room could not access the hotel wifi properly. But if you travel light, and don't plan to do a lot of shopping, this hotel puts in a very nice area to be, not too far from several metro lines and also to Les Halles easy train transport to/from the airport.

We had booked to stay for 4 nights but left after 1.
The staff were helpful, but did seem very apologetic that we had got room 501 - clearly they were aware it was not a good room. The room is apparently a superior double (owing to it having a bath it seems); but is anything but a superior hotel room. Lying on the side of the bed we both could have touched the wall either side, and there was very little room for manoeuvre around the bed. You could hear clearly everything being said in the neighbouring room - and they weren't talking with raised voices. But this was not what caused us to find alternative accommodation (thankfully had only paid for the first night up front). The bathroom was so small that my head touched the ceiling standing in the bath for a shower, and worst of all neither I (6') nor my wife (5'6\") could actually sit on the toilet without our knees touching the wall (mine were crushed by it) - in my opinion, completely unacceptable facilities for a 169-euros-a-night room. And hence we moved hotels after 1 night

great local hotel and neighborhood

We had a great 9 days with the Marais neighborhood as our base. Well located to access central Paris and end the day in Marais at another good restaurant all within a short walk from hotel.

A quiet, interesting hotel with character.

I needed a reasonably priced hotel for two nights on a business trip. This hotel has been cleverly refurbished and is good value. The location is slightly challenging, but the hotel is worth it.

Nice hotel in excellent location

I arrived to this hotel early in the morning (8 or 9 am), and intended to drop my bags off then come back later (Expedia said they had bag storage). The girl at the front desk said my room was ready and I could check in. I hadn't expected this, since check in wasn't officially until the afternoon, but appreciated the chance to get settled and freshen up before heading out.

The hotel had a great location. The neighborhood felt safe, there were lots of shops and cafes nearby, and it was within a 5 minute walk to a subway station. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and helped secure a car to take me to the train station. Breakfast was basic, but filling.

The room itself was small, but since it was intended for one person, it was fine. The bed was comfortable, and the shower was really nice. All in all, it was the perfect spot to come back and relax after long days of exploring Paris!

Decent hotel, close to many shops and cafes

This was a decent small hotel. The first room we were given was in a corridor off the main hotel and it was dark and creepy but had newer shower fixtures.
We switched to a room that faced the street and although it was very small, it was comfortable and nice but the bath had a hand held shower and that was awkward and made for not very comfortable showers. Also, the toilet was in a corner wirh a wall in front of it that was about a half foot away. No human on earth above 2 ft tall can comfortably sit on that toilet.
They also use actual keys for the rooms instead of key cards and even though you leave the keys with the desk when you leave, anyone could copy those keys or see who's not in their rooms at the moment.
Not very safe, they should definitely switch to key cards.

Lovely boutique hotel. Quite location but close to main centres while near two key to stops. Rooms are small but very clean with excellent facilities . Will be back

Amazingly amazing

A great little place! Me and my girlfriend had a blast. Very friendly and useful staff, gave us great tips about places to go to and were of great help when our luggage arrived late.
