I would say only thing lacking is more music by pool daily & entertainment in the evenings. If you perfer relaxing this resort is 10/10.

Amazing Stay at UNICO 20°87° Hotel Riviera Maya

From the moment you walk into the lobby, the staff makes you feel welcome and valued. Everything runs smoothly, making for a stress-free and relaxing vacation from start to finish.

The rooms are exceptionally clean, spacious, and comfortable. I was fortunate enough to have a beautiful view, which made the experience even more special.

The food was absolutely amazing throughout the resort. I highly recommend Mura for a fantastic dinner experience, 20°87° Restaurant (Clarisa’s breakfast service was wonderful), and The Grill for delicious meals. Every restaurant we tried exceeded our expectations.

The pools are beautiful, but the Quiet Pool was my favorite. It was peaceful, relaxing, and truly magnificent.

If you enjoy cocktails, don’t miss the Balam—it was by far my favorite drink during the entire trip.

A special thank you to Eduardo, our host, who was the most helpful host I’ve ever had at a resort. He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and helped make this trip unforgettable.

The only downside was the amount of seagrass on the beach, which affected the beach experience somewhat. However, this was a minor issue compared to everything else the resort offers.

Overall, UNICO 20°87° delivered an incredible experience with outstanding service, amazing food, beautiful accommodations, and exceptional hospitality. I would absolutely return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxury vacatio

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at UNICO 20°87°, especially because of the service. Everyone was very friendly, professional, and welcoming throughout our stay.

The beach was a disappointment for us. The seaweed made it impossible to enjoy, and the smell was quite bothersome at times. However, this was not the hotel’s fault, as it is an issue affecting the entire area. It was still disappointing because we were looking forward to spending time on the beach.

The food was overall very good, and Cueva was by far our favorite restaurant.

My only disclaimer, and something I wish we had known before booking, is that the resort caters more toward couples, seniors, and guests looking for a relaxing getaway. Daytime entertainment was very limited, and there wasn’t much of a younger, lively, or party atmosphere. This was a bit disappointing for our group. The evenings were similar, with activities such as bingo or dance classes for about an hour (ending at 9:30pm), after which guests were generally left to either spend time at Bar Balam or return to their rooms. Palermo Lounge was not open for the majority of our stay, though from what we heard, it is not much of a party venue either. Had we known this in advance, we likely would have chosen a different resort. This is not because the resort is bad, it simply did not align with the type of vibe we were going for.

We originally had issues with our host but after constructive feedback he was great and helpful during the entire trip.

I stayed at Unico with a large group of family members. There were 14 of us total. We all had an amazing time an Unico. Firstly, we were assigned a host named Luis and he was awesome! He checked in with me every morning to see if I needed anything and to make reservations at any of the restaurants. We chatted through WhatsApp messenger which made everything easy. He also booked massages for us and hair appointments. The staff at the pool were also great! Shot out to Alberto, Antonio, and Eugenio. They were very attentive and courteous. I got a massage from Concepcion and she was amazing! I fell asleep halfway through because it felt so good. Cafe Inez is an amazing coffee shop and they also serve delicious sandwiches, salads, and pastries. The restaurants were delicious as well but the cafe was the star of the show for me. The drinks and food at this all inclusive are of the highest quality. Overall I rate Unico a 10 out of 10. This is a high class adults only resort that will wow you. I’m already booking my next trip at Unico in October.

PROS:
Attention to detail is incredible, from check in, dining, room service, and amenities, UNICO provides exceptional service.
Food is incredibly delicious everywhere you go. If you have allergies or certain needs, they can accommodate.
They have lots of healthy food options, vegetarian, and even vegan.
If you have excursions, Cafe Inez can pack you a lunch to go!
The gym is the best gym in any hotel I’ve been to.
They offer a range of activities to do daily including things like crafts, live music, and games.

CONS:
- Security is lacking. They need police officers on sight in case of issues.
- Their laundry service is outrageously expensive. Example: each sock comes out to around $3 PER PAIR because they charge per item. Same goes for their shops. Overpriced.
- The beach is not appropriate for swimming due to seaweed. (But they have several pools).

My pet peeve:
FIVE people pitched a membership sale during our stay. Later, we were asked if we wanted to participate in a survey, but their real purpose for it is another chance to pitch a sale. At checkout someone else came to “survey” and ALSO pitched the “gift” with deposit. It got annoying towards the end that I was happy to leave. This was the last interaction I had with staff and it left a salty taste in my mouth.

- we enjoyed the gym
- pool options were good

The negatives:
- Room was ok, but shower was luke-warm throughout the stay (maintenance never resolved it)
- time-share pitch at check in
- water was not replenished in the room (we left a tip…!)
- Property was noisy 2 of 3 nights with events (loud music until after 10pm)
- Spa service was ok, but seriously overpriced
- the staff was very rude to our friends who were also guests

The property is beautiful, but there’s room for improvement in green areas with the landscaping. Unfortunately, the beach was filled with mountains of Sargazzo. The breakfast place was the same menu for the seven days we stayed there and same for lunch. It would be nice if every day of the week they would have a different menu. The quality of the food is good if you’d like to eat the same thing every day. The dinner was the highlight in regards to food. Mostly once a day we would be handed a tablet and asked to put a Google review at the end of our meal. The service the waiters provided was overall great. I noticed only two waitress in all the restaurants we went for that week. The entertainment is basically nonexistent. It would be nice if at least two or three times a week they would have had live music. Besides the lobby bar open, there’s nothing else. Don’t waste your time to go to presentations of their resort and timeshares. The math does not add up and you’re confined to specific hotels. It’s a Shark Tank and they will make it so appealing. If you get a paradise pass with the discount price it’s at the expense of a discounted room. I went with friends who had a paradise pass, and they got a room that was farther from the action in the second level with no views due to the palm trees compared despite being half full. At the end, you get what you pay for. The spa is quite small, but the service is good. There’s a good size Gym open 24 hours. Wont go again. 1x and done

My husband and I booked a baby moon/anniversary stay at this resort in early April 2026. We were looking for a place to just relax for an entire week and really just do nothing! This was the perfect resort for just that. We were able to lay around at the quiet pool for an entire week without having to cook any food or go anywhere. The staff constantly took care of all of our needs, getting us drinks and food whenever we wanted it! Since I’m pregnant, it was really nice to see that they offered mock tails both at the pool bars and also at each of the five restaurants.The resort is truly a five star resort, and it is kept up very well. I was impressed by the food choices, and the breakfast buffet was my favorite every day. We tried all of the restaurants except for the French restaurant, as we are not big on French food, but we heard really good things about that restaurant as well. The whole time we were there. Our room looked just like the photos on the website and it was spacious and beautiful. The negatives were the staff trying to sell us on a timeshare when we were checking in and checking out. This left a bad taste in our mouths right away and made us uncomfortable. When we are spending this much, I don’t expect them to sell to us like that.Also, the beach here is not very nice at all, and we were unable to spend any time by the water. The beach is dirty and is not kept up, and it was red flag every day that we were there.

We fell through the cracks at check-in. We were not given information about the services, property, restaurants, etc. We traveled with another couple and in the process of finding a joint \"concierge\" we were left for almost an hour with no information. Once we were given our rooms, we also did not receive information about the large property until we asked for it. It took us a while to figure out the amenities and activities (into the next day). We were given some perks by the management (a cabana for the day) to make up for the faulty start, but it colored our stay and the four of us ended up feeling that we would not return.

Stayed 3 nights for my birthday and this was by far the best customer service experience I’ve had while traveling. Rooms were clean, hotel staff were very attentive to our needs. My husband got sick in the middle of the night, needed a quick linen change and they were right on it. They gave us a courtesy call in the morning to check in to make sure he was ok and find out if he wanted to see the onsite doctor. The only thing I can say needed improvement was the drinks and the food at the Mexican restaurant. I wasn’t too thrilled with the selection. But, once again with good customer service, it was easily addressed. I would definitely choose Unico for future travel at any of their destinations.

This was the nicest resort I’ve ever stayed at. It takes all inclusive to a new level of luxury. My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and chose a room with a swim up balcony. 100% worth it. Having your own private place to take a dip was wonderful. And our room was constantly checked up on and refreshed.

We enjoyed couples massage, which was also perfect. The spa experience was comprehensive and pampering in the best way. I utilized the gym, which has everything I needed and then some! Plenty of equipment and attentive staff.

The food at the restaurants was also superb—special shout out to the Mexican restaurant, Cuavo Siete, and the Japanese restaurant. The all you can eat restaurants where also great, as was the variety of food you can find at quicker food options around the pools. The bars was also amazing—quick, strong pours, and a real variety of drinks.

Lastly, our personal host, Luis Angel, was the cherry on top. He made our stay feel personal, and he booked everything for us—every dinner reservation and massage. He was there for us and gave us all the information we needed to have the most fun and relaxing time possible. I can’t say enough good things about this resort.

Highly recommend if you're looking for an alternative to mega-resorts. Property size made it easy to navigate, especially if travelling with friends. Food options were all tasty, pool & room service reasonably speedy. Nice rooms. A couple notes for your booking consideration, if you're oceanfront but lower floor, your ocean view may be obstructed by trees. If you use resort credits for the spa, you only have access to the treatment not the facilities-- which was strange. There were lots of weddings, at least one for each day we were there. Also, a fair amount of corporate travellers. On the last day, people were running around in suits and lanyards-- usually the scene I'm trying to leave back home. Lastly, just a tip not an issue, prices in their bottle shop were 4-5x higher than at home prices, so if you want something specific bring it with you.

We had an absolutely amazing experience at UNICO Hotel. From the moment we arrived, everything felt luxurious, welcoming, and perfectly organized. The attention to detail throughout the resort truly made our stay unforgettable.

A special thank you to Fernando, our host, who went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of at all times. He was attentive, kind, and always one step ahead of our needs. His service really elevated our entire experience and made us feel like VIP guests.

The food, atmosphere, and overall vibe of the hotel were outstanding. We would definitely come back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-tier vacation.

Lets put it this way. This have been our second time to Cancun so obviously we are comparing to our first experience. Our first time was in a hotel named secrets akumal.
Unico is a good hotel but smaller compared to our first hotel. Not a big issue.
The hotel is new and looks good. Everything is available and staff is nice.

What myself and my wife didn’t like:
1-The food wasn’t as delicious as expected. Specially lunch!!

2- They have this program called Legendary where members have their own places in the hotel which is not a big deal. Just as an advice dont get fooled into the offers of listening to the one hour lecture for whatever promotions they will offer. It is not 1 hour!! Its more and they are very persistent when you keep saying it doesn’t fit you, incase that was the case.

3-Part of the beach is rocky but that isnt a big issue but just an FYI.

My husband and I had the best time at Unico for my 40th birthday. The staff were so attentive - Erik was amazing and made sure we had dinner reservations each night. He even went above and beyond to coordinate an in-room surprise for my birthday. The French restaurant was incredible - highly recommend. The spa was so relaxing. The pools were lovely. The food and drinks were 10/10! We love the lobby bar and the coffee shop.
The hotel smells amazing and is really beautiful.
The staff is so kind and helpful. Josue was our lovely host and he put champagne and balloons in our room for my birthday and checked in with us everyday to see if we needed anything. All the pool servers were excellent, especially
Uriel and Cony.

My only complaint is I wish this hotel would STOP with the upsell push. It is egregious. People are exhausted after a long travel day and they make the checkin process way too long by making you sit in the lobby- while it is beautiful- and wait for at least 3 different people to come talk to you. We almost never came back after our first trip because of this. They did not attempt the sell job as bad as last time because I made it clear in my booking notes, but checkin still took almost 30 minutes and there was no other guests in the lobby.
I highly suggest they stop doing this. It is a major turn off.

Otherwise, the hotel and restaurants and staff are top notch!

We had an amazing stay at UNICO 20°87° Riviera Maya! From the moment we arrived, the service was incredible and the resort itself is absolutely beautiful. The rooms were spacious, the food across the restaurants was consistently delicious, and the whole property had such a relaxing yet vibrant atmosphere.

A huge shoutout to Luis, our butler, who took such great care of us throughout our stay. He made everything effortless from helping with reservations to checking in and making sure we always had what we needed. His attention to detail really elevated our experience.

Also, Eugenio at the pool deserves special recognition! He was the best pool butler always friendly, attentive, and making sure drinks were full and everyone was having a great time. He brought such positive energy to the pool area every day.

The staff truly make this resort special. We left feeling relaxed, taken care of, and already talking about coming back. Highly recommend UNICO Riviera Maya if you’re looking for great service, great food, and a beautiful place to unwind!

Everything was amazing! No complaints! The swim up pool room was wonderful. Housekeeping came everyday to clean the room and came every night for turn down service. The staff on the entire property were so nice and accommodating. Our local host Josue checked in everyday to assist us with anything we needed like booking activities and dinner reservations. Check-in Process: Before arriving at the hotel, I pre-requested specific pillows, a private room, and a room with a good view through the butler, and they accommodated everything exactly as requested. Upon arrival, the butler kindly consulted with me, and all communication was possible via WhatsApp. They handled all restaurant reservations and activity management. From before arriving at the hotel until the moment we left, they fulfilled every single guest request without missing anything — it was truly the best service I've ever received.
Room Environment: The cleanliness and facilities were excellent. There was no humidity, and everything needed in the room was provided. Additionally, before check-in, they perfectly removed any musty damp smell that might have been in the room by using the scent I requested, and they kept a diffuser running to maintain a pleasant fragrance throughout the stay. Even during the twice-daily cleaning, everything was kept very clean. In terms of cleanliness, it was the cleanest state I've seen compared to any 5-star hotel.
Facilities & Restaurants There were plenty of places in the lobby to enjoy billiards and games, and the distance to the bars and restaurants wasn't far, which was great. Especially, having a jacuzzi here was a big plus — on chilly days (it was very cold during my visit), I could warm up my body, unlike other hotels. Pros: Room quality and view as well as cleanliness; pool, beach, and most of the friendly and attentive staff.

Cons: Consistently harassed by various staff to buy into their vacation program. Pressured to the point of near extortion into attending a presentation that was a well-orchestrated, albeit amateur, swindle.

Had it not been for the sleazy sales approach, we may have bought in, and we may have returned to this property as well. But, given the underhanded nature of their approach, neither will likely happen.

The hotel is really amazing, great facilities and installations. The room was ver spacious and comfortable, wee had an issue with the blow dryer, but it was taken care immediately. The only issue was the service, mostly in the restaurants and pool. It must be challengeful to train local people, it needs special attention.

Unfortunately, my experience fell well below expectations. Service throughout the property was consistently poor—orders for drinks were difficult to place, and when they were taken, items were frequently incorrect or not delivered at all.

The spa experience was particularly disappointing. Despite the high price point, the level of service did not match the cost. The massage itself was one of the worst I have experienced and lacked both professionalism and quality.

Additionally, there was a significant issue with my booking through Expedia. The room I selected and confirmed was not what was reserved for me at the resort, which caused unnecessary frustration upon arrival. Based on this experience, I would not use Expedia again.

Overall, this stay did not deliver the level of service or value that was promised or expected.

The property is filled with great staff and food;however, the property itself, could use a lot of help. There was a lot of cracks and the appliances like the hot tub on the balcony could be updated or use a bit of extra scrubbing. There were days when the stairs were dirty and had trash on it for days. Also, one day at the pool they were spraying chemicals that was blowing directly towards the pool for everyone to breathe in and they did not stop even when asked to. DO NOT DO THEIR TIMESHARE MEETING!!! They kept us there from 10-5:30 and wasted our entire day. The beach needs more beach chairs. With a resort that gets that much people, you should not have to be getting up early on vacation to make sure you secure a chair for the day!!!! Overall, they have great staff and the food was really good at all the restaurants.

Our room was ready when we checked in at 12:30pm even though check in is advertised for 3pm. Our only complaint is how long it took to check in! They sat us on a couch in the lobby and had to talk to at least 3 people before we were given keys to our room. Even if the room hadn't been ready, that would have been okay. We were prepared to hang at the pool or walk around. Instead we had to sit on a couch in the lobby for an hour while we were checked in. We wished the process would have been much faster.

This is my second time back at Unico. My first time was in 2021 and it was amazing and this is why I came back. This time around, I was happy to learn Unico is expanding and I was brought into the presentation to purchase a membership which I wasn’t too fond of in terms of how many people we saw and had to decline. It was over an hour of our time in the morning and we saw 6 people in total, each trying to pitch us a sale when we stated this might be the last vacation we take for some time because we are purchasing a house. I think if someone has a major priority or shares any reason for declining the membership we should not have to be spoken to by that many people.

Granted, in return we were pleased with an 80 min couples massage for free, however I think if a guest declines the offer and has already sat for an hour, this should end the conversation. Some guests love luxury in doses with no financial strings attached. It was a lot of pushing to get you to do a down payment. We just wanted to enjoy our day. The staff overall was lovely. Just not the right time for us!

Pro: Really loved our trip here! From the moment we walked in everyone was so friendly and welcoming! Room was clean and beautiful view. Food was pretty good, with a lot to choose from. 3 pools which all had something different to offer. Loved sitting on the beach to, was so pretty.

Con: this place really lacks outside entertainment and atmosphere at night. There was 1 bar open at times, but never anyone there. The inside lobby was the main hanging area, but who wants to sit inside on vacation!! Food reservations fill up really quick, so need to make them early. Skip the 1 hour talk about their promotions, as it will turn into 2.5!

Staff was unmemorable and some were borderline rude, slow check in, the resort was boring, the “membership” was weird and pointless, they try to con you into a time share meeting, the exec looking people constantly walking around gave it weird vibes, lack of shows/nightlife, palmera lounge sucked, loud weddings I could hear through my door for multiple nights, music so loud I could dance to in my room, lacklustre. I could go on.

The staff, amenities, cleanliness, and restaurants were great! I recommend bringing extra cash for tips. MURA House was the highlight of our dining experience. The only thing that would have been nice is to have a pool that was a little further away from the noisier pool, if you are truly looking for a quiet place to relax. The music can sometimes feel like you are in an Amphitheatre from your balcony, so it can kind of be annoying when it starts in the morning. Outside of that, the wildlife, beach, and ambiance was a 10/10.

Our host, Laura, was top notch. From the moment we met her, after being awake for 20 hours, she made us feel like we were home. She tended to our every need and sat and talked to us by the pool. She was the BEST!! At the end of our stay, our transportation that we had arranged never showed up to take us to the airport. Laura stepped in and immediately called us a taxi and we make it to the airport with plenty of time to spare. We felt so lucky to have Laura as our host for our stay. Our room was beautiful and spotless. The staff responded to our only need (more towels) on the second day in a timely manner. We stayed on the first floor so we didn't have ocean views; however, we still had a beautiful view of the plants, trees and pool. We still felt like we had privacy. The soaking tub on the balcony was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon!

Our room was great and the staff was very courteous and considerate throughout out stay.

My only criticism is your check in process. My girlfriend and I were tired from traveling and the process to check in took 90 minutes. Most of that time was taken up by trying to politely decline not wanting to purchase a time share.

My advice to you is to ditch trying to sell your guests a time share the second they walk through the door. It made us uncomfortable and does not set a great tone for your stay there. Why? Simply because we saw that individual 2 other times throughout our stay and had to have the same conversation. No means no. It's a tale as old as time. We then found ourselves having to avoid that individual every time we caught sight of them because we didn't want to have same conversation a third or fourth time.

The service at Unico was superb. From the moment we entered the lovely grounds and were greeted by friendly staff, who in minutes had us from tired travelers, to feeling refreshed and excited to be there. Our event coordinator, Laura Flores went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable and effortless. Our stay at Unico was one of the most pleasant and enjoyable vacations of recent memory. When we arrived they told us they had upgraded our room to a larger size so we had a living room as well as a bedroom. Everything was amazing. From the food to the friendly staff. We didn’t spend much time at the beach because there was a limited area for the beach and there weren’t many chairs there but the pools were great. We loved the pool with the basketball hoops inside. We had a lot of fun there especially when the DJ was playing music. There was always someone ready to take our drink order which was amazing. When we would go back to our room to relax it was very quiet which was nice. Overall an amazing experience.

I did quite a bit of research prior to booking our trip to Unico 2087. I had visited Mexico before at another resort and had excellent service, but felt that the food experience was lacking and had a hard time sleeping because it was so hot in my room. The reviews and research pointed me to Unico and I’m glad I did my homework. The check in process was great, we were sat on a couch and given drinks while we were being checked in. We were approached for a timeshare “breakfast” but simply said we weren’t interested, when gently asked if there was any reason we reiterated that we weren’t interested and that was the end of the pitch. We had arrived early and our room wasn’t quite ready yet, but our local host Axel showed us around and explained the property and amenities. He asked us about lunch and what we were craving, and recommended the 2087 grill. He walked us to the restaurant and checked us in. After eating lunch our room was ready. We were walked to our room and shown around. The property and our room was beautiful, welcoming and clean. We at at every restaurant with the exception of the new French restaurant Avic. The food was absolutely incredible, our favorite was Mura House (Asian). Our waitress Gabby is a gem, very personable and accommodating. Jesus, Mattias and Louis provided excellent service at the pool and Joshua had our cabana ready each morning with towels and towel pillows. Our experience was excellent and I cannot wait to return.

The property was stunning and the restaurants were all incredible; we kept debating which restaurant was our favourite and we kept changing our minds because they all wow-ed us in different ways. We loved the adults-only and calm atmosphere of the resort, but there was enough energy around the pools and bar to keep the place lively. The quality of the 24 room service food exceeded all expectations, and we loved lounging on our balcony every morning, enjoying the view of the pools and beach, with our fresh pressed juices and coffee and breakfast.

Our favourite perk about Unico 2087 is probably their personalized host service, where they pair each party with a host who texts you daily to help you set up reservations, sort out anything you need in your rooms, provides information on activities or fun things happening around the resort, and checks in regularly to ensure there’s nothing amiss. Our host, Karla, was so incredibly lovely and she made us feel so pampered throughout our week’s stay. She made all our dinner reservations from day one so we would never have to worry about anything, and answered all our questions. She learned our likes and dislikes and made recommendations accordingly. She helped us organize room service mixology sets so we could bartend in our own room.

UNICO was a bit of a letdown. We chose it for a birthday celebration, expecting to be amazed, but unfortunately that was not the case.

On the positive side, the staff was wonderful. Our butler Tony was excellent, and our housekeeper Felicita took great care of us. We had no complaints about their service and they were truly the highlight of our stay.

Where things fell short was with the property itself. We were surprised to learn UNICO only opened in 2017 because some areas look much older. The resort is in need of better maintenance and more attention to cleanliness, especially in the pools, hallways and elevators. Another disappointment was the limited dining options during the day, since the only choices for breakfast and lunch were the buffet and the poolside food for lunch.

The biggest disappointment was the sales pressure. If you attend their presentation, be prepared because the sales approach is extremely aggressive. After our initial meeting we politely said no thank you, yet three more people approached us trying to sell the same thing. Even after completing a survey at the hotel and expressing how uncomfortable the experience was, the manager still pushed us to buy a membership.

Overall the staff’s hospitality was excellent, but the resort itself, the lack of dining variety during the day, and the high-pressure sales tactics made our stay less enjoyable than we had hoped.
