A bit snob at the reception service (not nice) but the kitchen staff are nice so 3stars! Place itself was very good, beautiful nature walk inside property and bellavista at the breakfast restaurant and pool💖 As a vegan not much options but they prepared oat milk for cappuccino so for me it's satisfied!

The property itself was absolutely beautiful! The views of the vineyards and the room were great. There was a pool to relax at which was very nice. The only downside was that the restaurant was closed all day until 7pm. There was also no wine available until dinner. I was expecting to be able to do wine tastings and tours and there was nothing like that available. It wouldn’t have been so bad but the place is very secluded, there was nothing else within walking distance and the taxi service was very expensive because they had to come from Sienna.

This was such a cute vineyard hotel to stay in! It was very quaint and had tons of charm! The only complaint would be the smell of cigarette smoke (I’m from the US and I’m not used to it). It could also be a bit noisy, but that’s to be expected with B&B type properties. All in all, it was a wonderful place!

Great scenery, great wine, lots of character.

Family run Wine Estate Hotel in the Chianti region. Place has lots of character and landscape is beautiful. However it can be tricky to find, and is relatively far. Reception closes so important to check in early. Rooms can be a bit hot. Wine tasting with Cosmos is a must.

Nice hotel between Siena and Castellina in Chianti

To start with the GPS location indicated is completely wrong (by about 7 km of narrow Tuscan hills road). Going back and forth and trying to reach the hotel by nightfall was tiring.

When we got there , by 8pm, we were informed that their restaurant was closed on Mondays. This information was not in the hotel’s description. As I specifically wanted to be in the country and to avoid driving after dinner I was careful to choose an hotel with a restaurant, rejecting other equally nice places.

Other than that, it was a charming place with a nice swimming pool and pool towels provided.
Very nice breakfast with an excellent homemade yogurt.

We did have a nice dinner at the Osteria di Fonterutoli and returned safely to the hotel.

This is an older property and it needs work. The area itself is very attractive. We found ourselves asking for help when the heater did not work in the room and connection to the Internet. The breakfast was very good. I would select another property next time.

Left 3 days early, disappointing

We left after 3 days in as the hotel (we weren’t meant to stay for 6) as quite obviously hasn’t been updated in about 20 years. We had ants in our room and mosquitos came through the air conditioning.

The ‘Double’ rooms were tiny, even the superior ones were when we asked if we could move rooms. We saw 3 others in total, all of which were tiny and needed an update.

The restaurant for lunch and dinner is also massively overpriced but they have a captive audience, it would take over an hour to walk to the nearest town (and 15mins in a car).

This is not a 4* hotel.

Excellent hotel and the only shame was we had only booked one night! I’d gladly return for a longer break. From the moment i had booked the hotel they were more than happy to answer any questions before we arrived. We had a last-minute mix up with a car hire which meant we had to travel by bus to the nearest station which was a 30minute drive away. Within minutes of me asking if there was anything we can do to arrive at the hotel, they had arrange a pick-up from the station upon out arrival. Friendly staff, wine tasting was superb (from what I remember) and for us, it was a special day as i had proposed (I had made the staff aware prior) and they done everything they possibly could to ensure our stay was perfect. To top it off, we had missed breakfast the next morning but the receptionists inisted that i go to the buffett area (even after it had closed) and take whatever food back to the room with us before we departed! Fantastic location! Amazing, freindly staff! And i would easily recommend this hotel to anybody!

Casa Frankenstein!

Upon check in the \"gentleman\" did not greet us, was rude and when we asked for our passports back he acted as if he was doing us a big favor! Our room #36 smelled dank and was uninviting and depressing. We went to the pool, not clean, broken tiles and a hose continually filling it. This was a very disappointing experience in the heart of Tuscany. The hotel has great potential, it is a real shame that it has not been kept up at all. The complimentary breakfast is fair at best, the coffee is brown water. They just want you to order a cappuccino so that can charge you more. I cannot comment on the onsite restaurant as it is pricey and after seeing the state of the hotel, we did not have much confidence. We went down the road 5 minutes to eat and it was amazing!!!

A genuine get away

Nice hotel but air conditioning did not work

Let me first say that Tuscany was beautiful and we had a very nice time. There were a few major concerns however. The air conditioning did not work satisfactory. At night when lobby was closed it seemed as though the air conditioning was shut off. And there was no one in the lobby for emergencies at night During the day the air conditioning worked. We could not open shutter because of insects and birds flying so we had to keep our shutters closed. No screens. So I did not sleep at night it was so stuffy in the room. When we complained they kept telling us that the air conditioning was being fixed. We were there for five days and each night Our room was hot. The refrigerator in the room also did not reach a cold temperature so our bottled waters were always just \"cool\". With that being said the room was very clean. The people in the hotel very friendly. The breakfasts are very good and the Restaurant was good. Biggest concern was the air conditioning and fridge. Also the parking area could have been paid better. And walking up to the lobby and to your rooms it was all gravel and you could twist your foot because it was very difficult to walk uphill.

Okay but could be better

Have stayed here before as it is delightfully situated in Tuscany and has a great relaxing area. I do not understand why the host tries to accomodate your room needs by suggesting rooms ( we booked 3) that are smelly from being not aired or over the cellar. The rooms are comfortable and they changes made without too much bother but this is the second time we have had to ask for the changes. Service is casual but friendly. Rooms are getting tired but are comfortable. SHower in one room was not really useable. It would not take much to make this hotel really good. Breakfast was very good and the ambiance is really relaxing. Don't get the SHiatsu massage unless you like zero pressure massages. Served our purpose well but think there may be other options to explore next time

Lovely hotel in stunning (but remote) location

The hotel is charming, set in lovely grounds well off the road. Very quiet and picturesque. Adjoining it is a separate restaurant which serves fabulous food in very good portions; not cheap but not overly expensive for the region. You need to pay them separately.

Free parking and wifi. Nice pool.

With tiled floors, noise from other rooms, particular above, could at times be a little bit of a nuisance.

It's a little hard to find, not being in Castellina in Chiant itself, but about 8km outside the town heading for Siena.

Great base for exploring Siena or the hill towns round there.

Staff were very helpful & friendly (albeit one seemed surprised at everything we asked for before helping sort something out).

Main negative was breakfast (served in the hotel itself). Plenty of variety but not fresh produce (like juice or nice bread) and generally the quality not great.

Their own wines and olive oil a must to try.

Beautiful surroundings, lovely pool. The aircon was a bit ancient and noisy. A couple of little things we asked the staff to sort out were resolved in a very short space of time ( we asked for twin beds, and it was made up as one bed, the aircon stopped working, but was solved swiftly)
The restaurant next door has good food for the most part, a car would certainly be a much better and would be a good place to explore the Chianti region

A very beautiful and super relaxing hotel on a hill 8 km from castellina in Chianty. We planed to stay 2 days but we loved so much than we stayed 4. We had a small but very clean room. Staff was nice and very helpful recommending trips in the gorgeous area.

Pleasant stay in the Countryside!

I stayed at casafrassi for four fantastic nights. The location was great. There was great weather, a fantastic pool area, and the rooms were spacious with everything needed.
The location is slightly out of castelina, where there are some nice restaurants to go to - a car is a must!
Staff were fantastic, friendly, and welcoming in both Italian and English.
All in all a great stay, highly recommended!

Relaxed agritourism hotel in the Tuscan countrysid

We stayed at Casafrassi for 10 days in early August with our two grown-up children (18 and 21). This a friendly and relaxed estate where they produce their own olive oil and chianti classico. The staff were all excellent and very good with the guests. The restaurant on the estate serves very good local Tuscan food to a high standard. Our ensuite rooms were clean and comfortable. Don't expect luxury as this is relaxed farm-style accommodation with traditional furnishings and decor. The pool and gardens provided plenty of relaxation and the bar was open from mid-morning until 10pm for snacks and drinks. For the more energetic, there is table tennis and a tennis court. The farm estate also rears local cinta senese pigs and stables horses. Breakfast is served on a sunny terrace, either a buffet or continental according to preference. We had a very relaxing holiday interspersed by trips to Siena (20 mins drive), Florence (50 mins) and many Tuscan hilltop towns which are owrth exploring as they all have their own characters. Castellina in Chianti is 7km away and has good restaurants, local shops and a small supermarket as well as a Saturday market.

Lowest service-performance to price ratio

Well located, splendid view, silence, nice garden and pool. Bathroom: very old installation, no heating (17-18 degrees C in bathroom at 7 am), 19\" (!) TV screen (I only got italian channels). Breakfast (14 Euro): No service at all. Guests have to fetch all themselves (coffee/tee cup, coffee, milk, tee, napkin, cutlery etc.). If breakfast can be taken outside, you probably will have company: Three dogs begging for food from the guests tables. One, a Deutsche Dogge, with his snoth on your table. Albergo/hotel with the lowest service-performance to price ratio we ever stayed in.

Secluded and characterful hotel in Chianti

Located about 500m off the main road between Castellina in Chianti and Sienna, approx 10km from the former, this hotel is very quiet, comfortable and with a real feel of a Tuscan villa about it, sitting amongst vineyards and olive groves. Service is unobtrusive and efficient, polite rather than over-friendly. Breakfasts are a simple, buffet affair, but with a bonus of being served on a very nice outside terrace in summer. Other meals are available from the restaurant 30m from the main hotel building, which is actually a separate business. Food here is good and not over-expensive. The hotel is a peaceful base for touring the Chianti region and beyond. There are half a dozen restauarants within 10 minutes drive. Sienna is half an hour away by car, Florence around an hour. We didn't use the pool, tennis courts or other sports/play facilities, but they all looked fine. Would we go back there? Sure!

Good to Be Back!

We returned to the Hotel Casafrassi this summer and invited friends join us there. We are always impressed by the friendly staff, the quality of the accommodation and by the silence of the grounds (even the pool area has an air of tranquility that is not disturbed by the families using it).

Sitting in the gardens in the late evening drinking the Casafrassi's own wines and hearing nothing but the cicadas is idyllic! (Try their new Super-Chianti - it will blow your mind!) To enjoy the distant views of Siena across hillsides covered in grape vines and olive trees is to experience the heart of that very English dream of what Tuscany should be!

Enchanting in every way - a true hidden gem that we shall return to many times in the future.

Excelllent place and very convienient to key sights. After asking for a room change
(ssems you often get a no view, least attractive room offerred fisrt up) we got a great room with views over the Tuscan hill. Staff were excellent, resturant was verg good and well priced, overall a very good relaxing and enjoyable stay. Grounds and pool great, some animals around to add to Tuscan ambianceand good wines.We would certainly return again.

No way a 4 star hotel

The whole Place was rather tired and shabby, and the sides of our room floor were dusty. Breakfast had the poorest choice of the 5 hotels we stayed in during our trip. No English-language TV was available during our stay, and nothing was done about this. Stay somewhere else!

Been a guest at Cassfrassi several times and always found the service excellent and the location stunning. Surrounded by vines and olive trees, the hotel is a haven of silence - just the birds & the cicadas to disturb the peace! Rooms are very Italian rustic and the service is gentle and oersonal. The evening restaurant is charming with lovely views from the terrace over open countryside - you can see the walls and towers of Monteriggioni over the vine covered hills. You'll need a car to get the most from a stay here. Siena just 15 mins away; San Gimignano 30 mins.

Wonderful Tuscany Experience

We got the last room available and it was still very nice. The bath tub was very small for a 6'2 guy. My wife got a giggle though. The restaurant was WONDERFUL, and the included breakfast was very good as well. The wine made there was some of the best I have ever had. (and I am a wine snob) I would go back in a heartbeat.

mi spiace….. abbiamo scelto questa struttura perché classificata come 4**** , purtroppo nulla di nulla risulta minimamente accettabile …. valutazione oggettiva , per chi pensa di trovare una struttura con standard da 4**** eviti … al netto della location purtroppo è tutto decadente e poco decoroso , colazione inaccettabile camere indecorose piscina con fondo nn pulito probabilmente da mesi …. mi spiace molto !!

La zona è fantastica, il luogo in se è super ma sarebbe potuto essere gestito meglio, è un po trascurato a mio avviso, la camera è bellissima con una spettacolare vista al tramonto, peccato per i dettagli, dispenser sapone bagno rotto, luci comodini rotte, la piscina bellissima ma con molte sdraio rotte, l'acqua riempita connuna pompa gialla e cosi via, tutte piccole cose che avrebbero fatto di questo luogo una eccellenza.
Peccato anche non aver ricevuto una accoglienza al pari del posto.nessuna proposta di esperienza enogastronomica, c'e un maneggio ma non so se fosse possibile fare ad esempio una prova di equitazione, è un wine resort ma non ho avuto modo di provare alcun vino locale. La colazione è molto buona ed il personale al mattino è stato molto gentile.

Die Anlage entspricht nicht dem Niveau eines 4-Sterne- Hotels. Das Doppelzimmer war dunkel und sehr klein. Man hat uns dann in ein Familienzimmer umquartiert, das leider nicht besonders sauber war, gesprungene Fliesen im Bad, rostige Heizkörper. Das Hotel liegt ca 10 km vom Stadtkern entfernt. Es gibt in dem Nebengebäude ein Restaurant, in dem auch mal bis in die Morgenstunden laut gefeiert wird. Unser Familienzimmer lag in dem gleichen Gebäude wie das Restaurant. Kein abwechslungsreiches Frühstück. Landschaftlich schön gelegen, aber ohne Auto sehr einsam.

Schönes altes Gebäude. Aussicht sehr schön. Pööl O.k. Frühstück könnte mehr Auswahl haben. Brot wurde schon trocken serviert. Man muß bei Ankunfteinen Zettel ausfüllen, was man zum Frühstück essen möchte. Dusche an den Rändern und im Einstieg sehr schimmelig und eng.Essser läuft beim Duschen ins Badezimmer. Toilette hat häßliche Streifen, innen. Insgesamt ist das Bad renovierungsbedürftig. Mahlzeiten im Restsurant teuer und kleine Portionen. Fernseher im Zimmer mur italienische Sender.

La struttura, che si fregia di essere un 4 stelle, è situata in un posto bellissimo distante dalla strada per cui pace e la tranquillità sono di sicuro il punto forte.
Purtroppo mi è stata assegnata una camera che non era quella che avevo scelto (Expedia permetteva la selezione delle camere in base anche ai mq per i quali proponeva prezzi diversi), in più la pulizia della camera era approssimativa (capelli nel bagno e nella doccia), la TV non funzionava.
Alla mia contestazione mi è stata proposta una camera che probabilmente non veniva aperta da anni, impolverata e con un forte odore di chiuso, oltre che buia. Da qui abbiamo deciso di tenere la nostra, previa pulizia (una gentile ragazza della reception ha passato un aspirapolvere).
Per l'inconveniente ci è stato proposto uno sconto che non è stato applicato e un aperitivo offerto che al check out mi è stato chiesto di pagare, salvo poi, alla mia contestazione, toglierlo dal conto.
Personalmente sono rimasto deluso.

Chianti nightmare

One of the worst experiences ever!
We planned to stay for two nights, ending our 7 days vacation in Chianti , but ended up leaving the “hotel” after 10 minutes. The room reminded of your worst nightmare - the first thing we saw was a huge spider crawling on the bathroom floor and a lizard in the ceiling. The toilet looked like someone used it two weeks ago and decided not to flush - nor had the staff cleaned it - ever.

The shower was in a bad condition with mold on the walls and ceiling and we would never have used it. The floor in the bedroom was swollen from the moisture in the room. The entire building and surroundings are completely run down.

When we saw the room we immediately went down to the reception and pointed this out and asked for another room. The owner and what seemed to be her son said we could have another room - with an extra charge of 50 EUR per night - which we of course said no to. They refused to pay us anything back or cancel the booking and claimed they have a business to run and that we need to understand their side…..what a joke. Worst customer service we have ever seen! After many discussions they gave us 120 EUR back - from a total of 300 EUR. We took the money and ran as fast as we could.

We recommend you STAY AWAY from this accommodation - it deserves maximum 1 star. The only good thing with this place was the very helpful young girl in the reception who really tried her best to help us.

Struttura molto bella e silenziosa. Camera pulita e personale gentile. Colazione non abbondantissima ma tutto sommato discreta. La sera l’acqua della doccia non era caldissima ma si poteva utilizzare (problema non segnalato dato che era possibile utilizzarla comunque)

Personal ist weder hilfsbereit noch freundlich. Zimmer ist in einem schlechten Zustand: Bett ist sehr unbequem, Lichtschalter, Steckdosen und Duschbrause waren defekt. Frühstück war nicht geniessbar. Anlage wie etwa Tennisplatz, Pool sowie Garten waren nocht gepflegt.

Äkta italiensk gårdskänsla

Fint och avskilt läge riktigt lungt och fridfullt med fantastisk restaurang.
Rummet var ok men helhetsupplevelsen med några hundar som gick runt fritt på gården gjorde att de kändes väldigt hemtrevligt.

Abbiamo soggiornato in coppia a Luglio. La struttura è molto caratteristica in quanto è composta come se fosse un piccolo borgo. Le varie strutture in pietra e i giardini hanno un bel fascino, potrebbero solo essere valorizzati molto di più. Complessivamente la struttura potrebbe davvero diventare i gioiello con pochissime attenzioni in più che invece un pò mancano: c'è poca cura degli spazi all'aperto con giardini e piante non curate e con piante e erbe secche ormai cresciute, vasi vuoti senza fiori. La camera è risultata pulita e confortevole anche se all'interno non era presente il servizio minibar (che invece in fase di prenotazione risultava esserci nelle descrizioni della camera) e che nei periodi estivi è invece sicuramente comodo anche per poter tenere al fresco una bottiglia di acqua nella camera. Neo della camera è la doccia del bagno, praticamente vecchia, scrostata e facendo la doccia si allagava il bagno dato che l'acqua usciva dalla doccia non essendoci più la gommina ecc, abbiamo fatto anche delle foto. Per il resto colazione sufficiente, piscina grande con molti lettini, personale non sempre gentile e disponibile.

Das Hotel befindet sich in einer wundervollen Umgebung in herrlicher Natur und Ruhe. Man lebt wie in einem kleinen Schloß. Das Personal ist freundlich und die Zimmer sauber. Das Frühstück ist sehr gut. Das Hotel hätte ein gut bis sehr gut verdient, wäre da nicht die Halbpension die wir gebucht hatten. Das Restaurant gehört nicht zum Hotel und somit kann man Nichts aufs Zimmer schreiben lassen. Das Essen ist so wie der Service eher mäßig, aber die Weinkarte ist für die Toskana peinlich. Gerade mal drei Rotweine werden hier angeboten. Zwei davon von Casafrassi – uns schmecken diese nicht. Es gibt in der Toskana wesentlich bessere und teilweise auch preiswertere Weine – Auch im Hotel werden nur eigene Weine angeboten. Fazit: Ein wunderschönes Hotel bitte ohne Halbpension und nicht für Weinliebhaber. Im Chianti Classico Gebiet ?

Estacionamento incluso, quarto bem limpo porém com o banheiro razoavelmente limpo e com botão que seleciona chuveiro ou banheira quebrado, permitindo somente tomar o banho de banheira. Café da manhã simples. Linda vista e área verde!

La situation géographique de l'hôtel permet de rayonner dans le Chianti et de visiter les principales villes de la région (Florence/Pise/Sienne). Le lieu est propice au repos le plus total, la piscine est un plus.

Hübsches toskanisches Hotel/Weingut

Das Hotel/Weingut entsprach unseren Erwartungen nach einer \"toskanischen Unterkunft\" in vollen Maße. Es ist kein modernes Hotel, sondern eines mit Charakter, sowohl bezüglich der Gesamtanlage wie auch in der Gestaltung innen. Bei den hohen Sommertemperaturen tut das abendliche Bad im Swimmingpool richtig gut, der jederzeit in einem ordnungsgemäßen Zustand war. Die Mitarbeiter sind freundlich, zugleich angenehm zurückhaltend. Das Früstück war für ital.Verhältnisse vielfältig und vollkommen i.O. , wenn auch gleichbleibend und ohne große Abwechslung. Hätte mir allerdings einen guten ital. Kaffee gewünscht !
Begleitet wird das Hotel von einem sehr guten Restaurant, im Sommer auf der natürlichen Terrasse vor dem Haus, mit leckerem Essen und sehr freundlichem Service.

Lugnt och harmoniskt ställe. Bra parkering, bra pool, mycket bra och prisvärd mat och en helt ok frukost. Saknade att få se lite om vingården men kan varmt rekommendera vinprovningen de har.
