You are paying for the view!!!! This hotel was not worth the money spent in my opinion. The hotel staff was not very accommodating, though the restaurant staff was lovely. We had to bring our luggage up to our room and back down during check in and check out — no one even offered and trust me it was a hike to get it up there. Also they overcharged us at every turn. At their overpriced wine testing (which they were unprepared for our reservation, not set up and didn’t remember what we booked) they said a bottle was $40, then at dinner said the same bottle was now $65! Every glass of wine was steeply priced and the wine tasting was boring and uninformative. We preferred our wine tasting elsewhere (save your money!). The bed was extremely uncomfortable, worst one we slept on the whole trip. While the chef at their restaurant is incredible, we enjoyed our first dinner there and felt like it was worth the money. The food for the olive grove dinner was not as good and we didn’t even get to sit in the grove for most of the night due to the cold temps (the highlight was the incredible live band they had which saved the dinner for us). Overall we spent almost no time at the hotel and were very disappointed in the overall experience — not a luxury experience at all. Save your money, go elsewhere or be prepared to pay solely for the view.

This was a beautiful location. The room was spacious and loved the patio for coffee in the mornings. It was very private. We enjoyed the pool and restaurants were great. Breakfast was amazing. We did the picnic and dinner in the Olive Garden and loved getting to know others at our table. The chefs food choices were so wonderful. We would definitely stay again.

Stayed here for our honeymoon and it was simply perfect. The food, room, staff, onsite activities were excellent. We rented a Vespa from them and it was truly an unforgettable experience. I only wished we had more time there. Would recommend this spot to anyone!

A beautiful property with great views from certain areas.
It has so much potential but definitely needs work on a few things.
Room- took 3 days to fix WiFi on tv to stream.
Mold on bathroom wall which they addressed. No hot water last day to shower. You could hear everything from upstairs room. Need a mirrors outside of bathroom.
Staff- good but some need more training
Restaurants- food was very good and priced well. Service needs to be polished for sure.
Bar- great Negroni but not always staffed. They need to promote a cocktails and make it more social.
They have the ability to offer a better experience

Negatives:
- The rooms are dingy and very dark. They did move us when we asked though which was good service.
- does not look like the photos whatsoever, do not be fooled by seeing this place on Instagram
- dark / tired in general
- pool area dirty / grubby
- no wine glasses in room
- no touches like wine left in room or anything personal
- no wine in mini bar
- awful bathrooms in bedrooms
- terraces leave much to be desired, no views

Positives:
- amazing dinner, made up for the stay
- lovely man at the pool bar serving
- amazing staff at dinner and breakfast
- great breakfast cold dishes (lovely fruit etc)
- staff did move us when we asked to be moved

ultimately it is not worth the price sadly, wanted to love this after seeing photos but a huge let down and wish we didn’t stay. We wanted to move hotels when we checked in as we were so underwhelmed. Would suggest to visit for dinner but there are much better properties in Tuscany for less. It didn’t feel special at all, just tired and dated.
Properties like Dievole, Torre A Cona etc are down the road and so much nicer for the price.

Huge shame as the dinner is absolutely amazing and the photos looked great. It has potential but is badly executed

We've stayed before and it is idyllic and beautiful. The food and staff has only improved. However, the hotel seems to have changed its approach and it isn't couple friendly anymore. Children running screaming at breakfast, left unattended with no adult supervision at the pool (pushing and splashing) and the worst is them being allowed to have tablets/phones loudly playing at what was otherwise a stunning moonlit dinner experience.

We love this place and think its a shame for romantic holidays as other guests shared their concerns with us too. You don't expect so many children to be allowed to be so disruptive in such a serene, beautiful place.

We provided feedback to the hotel directly but did not hear back.

This is such a beautiful property and one of the prettiest places we've stayed. The grounds are stunning, very quiet at night and comfortable bed, wonderful breakfast! Overall we loved our stay but were dissatisfied with the details. For as beautiful as the hotel is, our bedspread was pilly which made it feel dirty even though I don't believe it was. The pool towels looked like they'd been washed 1000 times; they had snags and threads hanging off them all over. Those 2 details made it feel run-down when it really wasn't.
The other feedback is our \"onboarding/welcome\" to the hotel. When we arrived we were greeted and showed to our room but nobody asked about our bags and if we needed a dolly or help. We are young so carried our suitcases across the long gravel parking lot and down the central brick road but at most 4-stars hotels they help with baggage or at least ask about it. They told us to go get a welcome champagne drink when we arrived which we assumed was complementary but were charged at the end of our stay. The hotel offered a lot of services we didn't know about and did a poor job helping us understand they could arrange dinner and wine tastings (which our fault - we learned you NEED in Tuscany). It wasn't until our last day that we learned this was available and feel like letting us know about these services during our welcome/arrival would've made our experience exemplary!

The property was exceptionally beautiful and very well maintained. The pool was very clean as well as the rooms. The food and staff were excellent. The only small complaint was that the room we stayed in #32 the air conditioner was not working and we has to sleep with the windows open. Besides that, we had a very enjoyable overnight stay with our children, enroute to Bologna.

Old world style…modern amenities!

A beautiful hotel with amazing views. Our room was comfortable and bathroom shower was larger than most in Italy. This place has old world style with modern amenities. The pool area was spacious with outstanding views of Chianti. The restaurant had excellent wines and top notch food selections, although the menu was not overly extensive. Service was great too. I wish I had booked more time there.

Beautiful location and village conversion. Will definitely recommend Il Borgo di Vescine to friends/family. Would also return for a longer stay. The restaurant food was delicious (breakfast & dinner). The pool area is extremely relaxing with bonus tranquil views. Staff were more than happy to set us up with a free tour of their winery (oldest in Tuscany) on our last day. The tour guide was also very knowledgeable and friendly.

This beautiful old villa is set in the heart of Tuscany and has plenty of old world charm. There are plenty of amenities (pool, tasting room, restaurant) to keep the guests satisfied.
Our areas of dissatisfaction were that the receptionist raved about our fantastic room. It was spacious, but it was basically in the basement with absolutely no view. We were not shown how to lock the door to the room, and the wifi passcode wasn't clearly disclosed. We bought wine and paid for it to be shipped back. It was one month later and we still haven't received it.
Still, the property was charming, the food was delicious, and I'd recommend it.

The location of this property is spectacular! It sits atop a mountain with sweeping views of the surrounding Chianti hills. It's so unique in that it's a medieval village converted to a small resort. The pool was wonderful and it was so nice having breakfast each morning on the terrace with a stunning view. The gardens and landscaping around the property were also top-notch, lending to the overall feeling of beauty and tranquility.

The staff were all very helpful and friendly, and they made our time extra special by arranging a winery tour (which they own) and a romantic picnic in the vineyard itself. They also helped us order wine to ship back to the US and made everything easy for us. I would highly recommend this place!

When we first walked in to check in, the woman at the desk stayed on the phone for 5 minutes and did not stop to say \"hold on\" or \"I'll get to you in a minute,\" so my husband and I stood there waiting for her to finish. Then she did not have a copy of our reservation, so I gave her a print out I had. She still could not find the reservation, but said \"no problem, I have a room for you.\" She takes us to a room that was awful-no view, very musty and dirty, and the bathroom was not updated. She walked out without giving any additional information, leaving the door wide open behind her. When we walked back to the lobby to try to glean additional information, such as the WIFI, a different person was there. He was much more helpful and gave us information about a nearby winery that he would call so we could have a wine tasting--we felt much more welcomed after talking with him, though we were extremely disappointed with the room. It definitely needs to be updated. To the hotel's credit, after I submitted information about not being happy with the check in/room, the man called offering us a different room. My husband and I decided not to take it since at that point, we were settled for bed. The breakfast was decent-they had pastries, meats, and cheese, though they do not keep the utensils by the food nor on the table, so we had to wait for a waiter for a fork and spoon, which was odd. Overall, the experience was ok and not worth the price.

This is a very attractive and historic borgo (village hotel) in the heart of Chianti country. The hotel has connections with a nearby winemakers that dates back 1,000 years. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly, and gave the impression that they were proud to share the hotel with visitors. The rooms were very spacious and well maintained and the food was consistently excellent.

We had a fantastic time here at the Il Borgo di Vescine. The Suites were absolutely lovely and clean. The staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough for us. A big thank you to Stefano who arranged a special dinner for us on our Wedding Anniversary.
I could go on and on about this lovely place. Such a peaceful retreat, but only a short distance to towns nearby.

We would definately love to go back sometime and would recommend this to all our family and friends.

There was only one negative for us and that was the pool. Although a lovely setting, the water was too cold to swim in for us.

quaint hotel, good for romantic couples

The hotel was nice and spacious. Staff at the restaurant was really sweet and helpful. But as we had very young kids 3 & 4. We were perhaps a tad noisy and there was nothing very much to do for them. But I would highly recommend it for romantic getaway couples as it's quite private with beautiful surrounding.

If I could give this place 6 stars I would. A beautiful location, gorgeous hotel grounds. Customer service was impeccable. The kids really enjoyed the pool during the day. We went for a hike on the hillside. The breakfast was delicious ( fresh breads, ham, salami, crostata, juices, cereals, youghurt, coffee, crossaints).

Picturesque and perfect. Excellent for honeymooners and families alike. We'll be back!

Enjoyed our stay. Lovely setting, 8 minutes to charming Castellina in Chianti. Only negative was dinner due to new chef. Meet was tough. They offered to replace and presented lamb dish with almost no meat on the bone and nothing else...i.e. vegetables, potatoes!!

we were suppose to have to twin bed insted we had 1, and 1 simple that was put in a room that can not contain this bed(no place) so they downgrade what we had pay for, disapointing . A little window and it was not very clean ....never go back there ...On Sunday we want to go swim, the robot was in the piscine all day for Nothing....and we can not go in if the robot was there, that were the rules...If i go back to Chianti it's not going to be there ........

We just returned from Italy last night, spending most of our time in Florence. This was a very special side trip and we loved this place. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The concierge recommended a fabulous person to take us to a few vineyards and that was the most incredible experience ever. Matthew, our bartender, was so sweet and really helped us to understand the culture. The landscape is truly breathtaking and there were hills covered in rosemary, sage, thyme and other herbal varieties which perfumed the air. The room was comfortable and clean. I hope to return again.

Loved our stay!

Il Borgo de Vescine was a wonderful stay. We had a lovely room with a little terrace, quality furnishings and just a wonderful environment. There was free parking ( you need a rental car to stay here), and hundreds of fantastic wineries in the area. There were also interesting old towns to visit nearby. The hotel breakfast was top notch, lots of choices, everything fresh and tasty. There is a restaurant on site and a bar with wine tasting. The food was delicious, maybe a bit pricey though. Our checkin was fast and smooth, althoughwe would have liked more info. Such as when and where is breakfast, the restaurant, etc., and maybe a bit of help with bags on the steps as my husband had an injured arm. The hotel staff were very helpful when we needed a doctor - called the dr. For us, gave us directions. Overall a marvellous stay!

The place has so much potential. Unfortunately, it is let down by the service in both hotel reception and the restaurant. I love it when service is more relaxed but this was too far.
Room is nice however get one either without a room above you, or get a room above as the tiles mean if someone has kids you will hear them running around.
Facilities fantastic and they have a very nice winery close by, which you can stay at - next time I'd probably try there perhaps.

Great Hotel in Chianti

We had a wonderful time here. it was a perfect location less than an hour south of Florence. We were able to visit many wineries and an olive oil maker just outside the village of Radda. The staff was very helpful with all requests, the views are amazing, the pool area very nice, and the feel of the entire complex is just fantastic! The breakfast was wonderful as well. The rooms were set up like a suite, with a bedroom separate from the sitting area. We would definitely visit again.

Well maintained picturesque and lovely hotel

We loved our stay at il borgo di vescine. Google maps routed us perfectly to this place. Leonardo at checkin was very friendly and helpful. We got a beautiful room, decorated in tuscan style. It was very clean and had basic tv channels. The wifi was good too. They have a small restaurant on site. The service was fantastic, Alessandro was extremely courteous and promt. I would highly recommend this hotel.

I think the milk was bad I couldn't drink it. The room is spacious and lovely. The staff is friendly. They put water in your room and after you drink it, tell you it's 3 euro each - a sign would be nice.

Loved Il Borgo di Vescine

We had a wonderful stay at Il Borgo di Vescine. However I have two questions. The pool was not full when we arrived I thought due to no lifeguard there was a limit, the vacuum was always on and there were leaves on top of the water. On the last afternoon on Friday, the 18th of September, the pool was filled and cleaned, and the upper terrace had comfortable chairs with large umbrellas set up. Although the weather was nice the entire time we were there the pool did not look great and the terrace never had this set up. Just wondering why. Loved my stay and would definitely return, it was a beautiful setting.....outstanding views. The service was good and Rafaelo was wonderful! Everyone at the front desk also provided great service. The food was good but there could have been just a couple more choices.

Had a lovely four days in Tuscany. The hotel was as we expected rustic but comfortable. Breakfasts were ok, and the evening meal was very nice. The hotel is in a rural setting so we opted for the half board option so that my husband was able to enjoy his meal and wine without worrying about driving. My only complaint was the lack of tea and coffee making facilities in our rooms. I asked at reception if I could have a kettle but was told they were not available as they were 'dangerous'!

Great stay in Tuscany Chianti region

The hotel had a great view of the hills of Chianti and the surrounding towns. The service was excellent as each member was very helpful with making recommendations about places to visit. The food was good and most of the staff spoke english well.

Fantastic Experience

I'd never heard of Radda before but this place is a gem, just outside of this little Tuscan town. Situated near In Greve, Castellina, and the Chianti road, the service, sights, and grounds are unbelievable. I travelled to this hotel with my parents and we each staying in rooms that felt like separate villas. Theirs had an amazing view and mine had a private porch that was tucked away, perfect for sitting with friends or family to have a late night glassw of wine or cigar. The grounds feel very private, especially the rooftop setting of their restaurant. The food and wine there was also on par with the rest of the service. I wish I had stayed longer than just one night!

Comfortable base for Tuscany sightseeing by car

Il Borgo di Vescine is a wonderful, tranquil, small hotel half way between the towns of Castillina in Chianti and Radda in Chianti. It is also a winery that produced some fine red and rose wines, including a rose prosecco that we found wonderful. We think the best way to enjoy this hotel/ location is to have a car and visit the many interesting smaller towns and wineries in the Chianti region. Buildings are exactly as depicted on the web-site, cool natural stone structures with tiled roofs and interiors. Bathrooms are typically modern European; and the basic in-room air-conditioning is a good addition in the high summer season. An excellent complimentary breakfast is served on an open, but shaded, patio in good weather. Lunch and dinner can also be taken there; and the service is both friendly and good, with the menu offering a range of Tuscan meals and both in-house and regional wines. The pool and surrounds were well-maintained and seemed to attract most guests, but especially family groups. There is also an pool-side honour bar for drinks and ice-creams; and lunch can be ordered and taken there. The restaurant staff need a special mention. They are very friendly and informative and all live locally, so can suggest interesting places to visit. Grazie mille Valbona and Rafaele.

The Most Amazing Spot Ever

We found this hotel on hotels.com a couple of years ago. We booked it again this year with our family of 8. WOW!. The rooms are like stone cabins. They are huge and beautiful. A giant swimming pool was an added bonus. It really is out In the middle of no where. Quiet and serine. The food was unbelievable. The breakfasts and the dinners were gourmet. And on top of that it is a working winery with amazing Chianti's. I am sure we will go back and I want everyone to know if you want a unique Tuscan experience you just have to stay here.

Stunning Area and Fantastic Little Hotel :)

My husband and I stayed here for 10 nights from Mid June and found the hotel to be wonderful.

We had a double room which was perfectly adequate, roomy with a lovely big shower room. The hotel itself is really well kept. Rooms are very clean, service is excellent and the gardens really well kept. The buffet style breakfast is continental. .Loved that they hadn't caved to trying to do \"English\" breakfast - there was great choice. We dined in the restaurant one night and found the food and service were great. The reception staff were very helpful and

A good place to stay

Very helpful staff, especially the guy from Holland. Only downside was that the swimming pool was er, cold, shall we say. Some solar panels to help heat the water would be a good investment. Otherwise we couldn't fault the place.

Nice but not what we would call a four star hotel

The 1300th century village hotel was very rustic and had a nice feel about it. The staff were very polite and friendly but our room was disappointingly small with very little closet space and had two single beds pushed together to make a queen. It was very hard and not at all comfortable and as a result we didn't sleep very well. We would suggest investing in some quality mattresses. The breakfast was good and the restaurant staff were very nice, too bad about the bedding we truly could have enjoyed our stay much more.

I hate shopping

Great Hotel, Great staff, very good food

The location is just fantastic. At 660m elevation, it's a relief after the hot and humid days in the rest of Tuscany. The owners tried to recreate the same old vllage that existed here, which feels great. The staff were fantastic, all very helpful. Their wine was very good - the Lodolaio is unforgettable. Chianti is a great location to take as a base. My humble two cents to everybody who visits Tuscany: don't cram-pack your days trying to tick off everything in Tuscany off of the list in a limited number of days; it's very exhausting and honestly gets touristically repetitive after a while. I did 1000km in 5 days and totally regret it.

Great Hotel in Tuscany!

My boyfriend, now fiancé (we got engaged in Tuscany!), stayed here for 5 days in October. We had a very pleasant stay. It is a charming hotel with a real Tuscan feel. Rooms were clean and the service was friendly. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. The Restaurant is ok and the wine is some of the best we have had. The location was very convenient for day trips... we were able to do Sienna, Florence, Livorno, Pisa and Cortona. Overall we loved the hotel and would love to come back!

Beautiful! Fantastic Food!!

This place is beautiful. We had the half board and the food was beyond incredible. This is a great place to go and plan day trips from. One thing I would say is the mattress in our room most definitely needs to be replaced... when you sat on the end of the twin bed, it was like you were going to slide off!! but once you were in and sleeping it wasn't that bad! Just had to be careful getting up in the morning or sitting on the bed during the day! The entire place is gorgeous and beautiful. It was great to get out of the city for a few days and relax in the country. Be prepared to eat some spectacular food, and I loved their wine as well!!

Il Borgo de Vescine was everything we were looking for in a Tuscan getaway. The setting was perfectly idyllic and secluded - just far enough away, but within a five minute drive to the nearest bigger town. The pool area was fantastic (even though the weather was temperamental), although the tennis court was in need of repair (which the hotel was aware of). The service staff was extremely helpful and polite, and spoke very good English. The dinner service was excellent and well-priced, but the breakfast buffet was one of our favorite parts of the trip. It was included in the price of the hotel and was certainly worth it.

Hotel lindo. Quarto bom, box do banheiro pequeno.
Oferecem um jantar junto as oliveiras como única opção de jantar naquele dia (os outros restaurantes do hotel estão fechados para esse evento).
Seria lindo se a comida estivesse boa, o que não foi o que aconteceu. Mesmo o prato retornando cheio, nenhuma atitude foi tomada pela organização do jantar
