It’s a special resort , little rustic , close to downtown with its own little beach and dock. Not a corporate resort , and that’s why I love it. Perfect place with charm , this was my second time staying g and will return again

I liked the Lake front access is very convenient.
I felt the breakfast area was not prepared in advance of breakfast time, the coffee maker was so slow it took 10-12 minutes just to make 1/8 of a pot of coffee. Not much of a selection for food to eat readily available for breakfast. It may have just been a very busy time the day before and a staff trainee was on board. I completely understand. The room was great! Built-in gas fireplace very nice and cozy. It would be better if the TV stand mounted to the wall be removed, behind the microwave, being that the new flat screen has been installed on the wall anyway. Great shower too.

The location is fantastic, with beautiful lake views and easy access to nearby attractions. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help.

One of the highlights was relaxing by the lake and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. The property offered a perfect balance of convenience and tranquility, making it an excellent getaway.

Completely unprofessional establishment. STAY away and save yourself the troubles. We had a reservation through Expedia for 3 nights, we called the Front desk the day of the reservation to confirm late arrival. Front desk agent gave us instructions that we can obtain the room key after hours from a lock box. The key was not in the lock box. At 1:30am after driving for few hours, being exhausted, there was nobody at the desk, and no key at the lock box. The after hour phone number that was provided of owner Lori was going straight to full voicemail box, so we were unable to reach anyone. It took Expedia 2 additional hours to find us alternative hotel. We ended up checking at 4am elsewhere, and thankfully at a much nicer location with great customer service unlike big bear lake front lodge.
I tried reaching to the property directly the following day to speak to someone, and the front desk wouldn't answer mine or my husband's phone calls. When I reached the emergency number at last Lori, the owner picked up and she was so unprofessional, didn't want to hear the situation, kept interrupting , lying that the key was in the lockbox when it wasn't! I have pictures that there was no key in the lockbox, we couldn't check into the room and didn't stay at their location. She kept cutting off stating the key was inside, absolute worst handling of an error on their end! Instead of owning their mistake and saying \"we apologize\" she proceeded to hung up. We dodged a bullet!

They didn’t even let me check into my room. They asked what time I’d arrive i let them know 8:30 note check in is from 3pm-10pm so when i arrived no one answered the phone no one would reply to a messages nothing and that same night they also got a few bad google and yelp reviews for being double booked for the same night. This place is a joke please save your money.

The lodge is right on the edge of the lake and they have barbecues and picnic tables. The room has refrigerator and microwave a little balconies. There’s a little coffee maker and they have a continental breakfast in the morning of cereal and a few pastries with some fruit. We thought it was an exceptional value for the price.

Amazing Lakeside Lodge stay right on the lake in the middle of all the excitement! Great views from room and balcony overlooking the lake. Serene snowfall making it a winter wonderland! The service at the front desk was awesome, very kind. Highly recommend visiting. Breakfast on the go and warm coffee! Can’t wait to come back!

The location is great. Right next to the lake and a few minutes drive to village (or walking). Staff super nice. And we had some coffee and morning snacks. The only downside was that The room was a little small w a small table and hardly any counter but In overall great for the price. I could definitely consider coming back to this hotel. If you can afford paying a little more, pay for the lakeview. It had an amazing view!

Absolutely horrible experience. It was very cold at night heater or fire place wasn't working. Was not able to reach anyone to turn it on. Had 2 kids with us. Oh forgot to mention the giant rat causally sitting on top of the microwave and going through things in the kitchen. I didn't sleep all night. Ran away as soon as the sun was up. Didn't stay second night. Contacted property several times including through expedia agent. Refused refund (just took my money for the second night i didn't stay). Is dirty and outdated and no refunds. Even though i showed them a video of the rat. So 100% do not recommend. Lake front is the only positive but there's plenty of renovated hotels with good customer service with the same view literally next door.

The young man at check-in was very kind. And that lady they checked us out was also very kind. The atmosphere is great. It’s far from the highway so there’s no street noise like we had at the other places we stayed at and it’s literally on the shores of the lake so you can go for an early morning swim. Definitely a cool place to chill out and they also have a barbecue grill on the Lake Shore if you want to roast some vegetables.

I had another wonderful stay at Lakefront Lodge, and this one truly stood out. Stephanie at the front desk was exceptional from the very beginning. I called ahead to ask about availability and the possibility of an early check-in, which was really important for me since I’m traveling with my dogs and recovering from two surgeries over the past few months.

She was incredibly kind and attentive, and what impressed me most is that she did exactly what she promised — she called me back right at 12 pm the moment the room was ready. That level of follow-through is rare and meant a lot.

This is probably my 10th stay here, and honestly, this one has been the best so far. Stephanie also placed me in a room right by the side of the building, which made everything so much easier — no stairs, and I could bring things directly from my car to the balcony and into the room without any hassle.

The room itself was amazing — cozy fireplace, beautiful lakefront view — exactly what I needed to relax and recover. Truly grateful for the care and thoughtfulness. I’ll absolutely be back again.

Carlos was also incredible. He went out of his way to help me with a flat tire and took the time to advise me on what to do next. He even tried calling around to find help, but because of the holiday it was difficult to find any places open. What really stood out is that he genuinely cared about my safety, not just solving the problem. That level of human, compassionate service is rare and I appreciate it.

I was not going to write a review and just chalk the stay here as a lesson learned, but after the staff saying they were going to refund us $54.00 for our stay due to no wi-fi the day of our stay and then not doing it I have changed my mind. We were in Big Bear to spend time with my grandkids celebrating the 3rd anniversary of my daughter’s passing, so having no television in the evening was a little rough, we had planned on watching a movie with the kids, but there is no tv at all with no wi-fi. The other thing was the cleanliness of the room, I let them know on checkout and was going to leave it there, but there was hair left on tub and bathroom sink, that also was very dirty and not cleaned; top ramen noodle in kitchen sink and dirt on bed like someone stood on it. Then the beds are very uncomfortable, thin blanket on beds, only one extra blanket in room, requested another blanket for second bed and was given a gross comforter, it had all sorts of red stuff on it. So, I had already decided not to stay here again, before them not giving a partial refund which they offered it was never asked for. I should have paid attention to reviews from other people that had stayed here, but just figured we would try it. So I would just say think twice before staying here, unless you like to pay to stay in a previous persons dirt.

Rented a room with a fireplace, and the fireplace didn’t work. The toilet got backed up in the middle of the night, and there was no staff on site to help with the problem. And there was no plungers in the room. Other than that the place was mildly decent.

During our November stay, our front door handle broke off, leaving the suite unsecure. The heater only reached the living room, forcing our three young children to sleep in snow gear because no extra blankets were provided. While the owner originally acknowledged these issues upon check out and proactively offered a discount on a future stay, management has since refused to honor it. \"Melody\" was dismissive, fixated on naming technicalities, and claimed the owner would \"never\" offer a discount. Between the freezing rooms, hard beds, and rude service, it’s not worth the money.

Unfortunately, this was a disappointing experience. We reserved the the room with the Lakeview costing us $370 a night. We arrived at 3:00 pm at check in time and our room was not ready. It seems they attempted to clean our room while we were waiting however i don’t think they actually cleaned it. I was disappointed to find dark long hair on the bathroom floor and the bathroom rug was dirty. The balcony furniture was dirty and the blankets had pets hair on it. The room was definitely not clean. The property is very run down and in need of major repairs. We rented one of the most expensive unit to have lake view and the kitchen. What a disappointment, the kitchen had a non working fridge, they had no utensils. They had a coffee maker that used paper filters but they provided coffee pods instead. The next morning we woke up at 8:00 but couldn’t take a shower since there was no hot water. We couldn’t make coffee and when we went to the office at 9:00 to have the breakfast they promised us, we found instant a chaotic mess.

Check-in staff was very friendly and helpful with their limited resources.
BUT - for $200 did NOT meet expectations. The TV and Internet never connected - just sat buffering even with password used to connect to WiFi. No coffee pods available and there was a used pod in the coffee pot. The small fireplace never came on although the wall furnace was great and easily warmed up the room. The bed springs, plastic mattress cover under the sheets and awful thin pillows made sleeping very uncomfortable (bring your own pillows). The roll of toilet paper was not enough to last the 24 hours so we had to go to office to pick one up - none in room.
A \"breakfast\" was going to be available in the small 5'X5' \"lobby\" at 8:30 am but suspect very minimal - although we left as early as we could to escape (leaving the key in the mailbox because no locked dropbox and staff doesn’t arrive until 8:30am) and went out for breakfast on way out of town.
The room was clean enough but the whole experience was dismal and disappointing for a $200 Saturday night stay.

I do not recommend staying here. Yes, the price it nice, but you get what you pay for. Immediately entering the room, it is super under whelming and run down. The walls are thin, we could hear the neighbors shouting and partying. When we returned after dinner, we noticed the door to the hallway was open on both the upstairs and downstairs, which felt very unsafe. Anyone can walk down the halls in the middle of the night. The cherry on top was the COCKROACHES in the bedroom! One came crawling on the bedside table right towards me! After this, we immediately packed up and left for another hotel. Did not even stay the night. And of course the hotel denied it and refused to refund us. Do Not Stay Here!

Upon first impressions, I really wanted to leave a 1-star review. The front office spells awful. Our room was not ready at check-in and when we did come in, the fumes of Fabulosa had us needing to leave. And even though our room was late because of being cleaned the place was still very dirty. Stains on sheets and a lot of dirt and hair. But, I can tell that they are trying to keep this place going and it could’ve been much worse. When I inquired about the fire place not working, they fixed it. The heat cranks really well! The property is lake front as the pictures show, but the rooms and garden view are inaccurate. Please do not depend on the complimentary breakfast.
The takeaway for us, was that housekeeping needs an overhaul and everything else could be overlooked.

Worst hotel experience ever! The room was completely uninhabitable. The room was freezing, the thermostat did not work, the entire hotel’s furnace was out, and the gas fireplace did not work in 30-degree temperatures! Live and dead cockroaches were present and there appeared to be bed bug residue on the sheets. The second of two “queen beds” was actually a hide-a-bed spring mattress only a few inches thick that offered no support from a plywood \"box spring\" and the bed squeaked loudly with any movement. The ramp leading to the stairs was covered in about two inches of mud and dangerously slippery. The whole place smelled of industrial chemicals. I checked in but immediately had to leave after inspecting the room because the place was uninhabitable. The manager called the proprietor who then audibly yelled at the manager and ordered her to refuse a refund. The only consolation they would offer was an electric space heater with no temperature control which was a fire hazard particularly on wood floors. I ended up having to drive myself and minor child home to Sacramento arriving at 2 am. Avoid this place at all costs.

Honestly it wasn’t what I was expecting the rooms didn’t look like in the app the cleaning lady was really rude didn’t want to give us another toilet paper when I stayed the 3 nights everything in the room is damaged like the table the chairs where wobbly the price for that ugly place was ridiculous the breakfast that says included it’s not even breakfast it’s cold food not even being warm I will honestly tell all my family and friends to not go there ever worse experience at big bear for my first time I wanted to have a great time for my birthday really sad it went like this!!

We arrived 15 minutes until check in time and the manager said we can check in with a $30 check in fee (which was on that’s their policy no problem). We decided to just wait the 15 minutes then check in. When we got to our room the small of gas was strong. My head started to hurt and my child that had asthma wasn’t feeling well. We tried to air out the room which didn’t work. My husband alerted the front desk she stated “it’s fine we just had the gas guy come.” No accommodation at all just “it’s fine.” We waited to see if the smell would go away it didn’t. We walked to the counter to alert the front desk that was also the manager about the gas smell. She was visibly upset about this. She rolls her eyes at my husband, snatched the keys from him and had a condescending tone. She said it’s fine but she will move us rooms and brought up that my husband didn’t want to pay the early check in fee. I’m not sure why that mattered!!! I didn’t feel comfortable staying there. 1- Her lack of safety concerns for the building 2- lack of concern for her customers and safety 3- She was the rudest hotel worker I have ever encountered in my life. We treated her with respect in conversation. I didn’t feel safe staying there. She bullied us and said she would not give us a refund, she stated Expedia would side with her and customers do not get refunds. I was shaken up with this whole experience, my children were very upset. She refused to give us a receipt. Please do not do business here!

I stayed for 1 night with 3 other guests, got there less than an hour prior to check in so was hoping to check in a bit early due to being tired from our drive up the mountain & needing to use the restroom. The guy working reception was polite but the moment I walked into the office, he was on the phone w/ a woman on speaker. I’m guessing she was the owner but she was so rude, she was berating him, said it’d be a $30 early check in fee and then demanded he have me step outside of the office because she didn’t want me to hear them talking. After waiting outside of the office for 15 min I went back in the office to get a status (this was after the guy had returned from running back & forth through the property—my guess is to see if there were any rooms available/clean). He was still on the phone w/ that woman, and I politely said we just wanted to know if we can check in already as we had to use the restroom (there is no public restroom on site) otherwise we’d find somewhere to kill time. The guy working reception seemed overwhelmed w/ the woman on the phone and then said he cannot accommodate an early check in & will see us at 3pm. After checking into our room, we realized we only had 3 towels in our room so went back to the office to ask for another & they stated they were all out of towels. There was a lady at that time working reception & she was on speaker w/ the same woman who was talking in the same rude demeanor. Rooms were ok & shower had mold. Wouldn’t return.

Do not stay at this property. The manager is very rude and disrespectful. When I brought up safety issues regarding my recent stay, she got defensive and hung up on me refusing to help. There is potential mold and a bug problem. It is not safe to stay here

Everything in this room was old: the sofa was very old, the upholstery was frayed in places, the floors were dirty when we moved in, we asked them to wash them the next morning because the office was closed in the evening. We stayed there for two nights and the trash wasn't taken out. In short, I won't go there again.

This was hands down the worst place I have ever stayed, and that’s saying a lot. The cabin I booked wasn’t even serviced—mouse droppings everywhere, a carpet so filthy it was questionable to even walk on, and the entire place looked like it hadn’t been cared for in years. I had to beg for someone to clean it, and when the “housekeepers” finally showed up, they actually said they didn’t even have a vacuum and would just sweep. Seriously?

And to top it off, at night you could hear rats crawling around. Absolutely disgusting. This place is filthy, rundown, and completely mismanaged. The ownership clearly does not care about guests or basic cleanliness. Save yourself the headache and stay far, far away.
