Rented a room with a fireplace, and the fireplace didn’t work. The toilet got backed up in the middle of the night, and there was no staff on site to help with the problem. And there was no plungers in the room. Other than that the place was mildly decent.

During our November stay, our front door handle broke off, leaving the suite unsecure. The heater only reached the living room, forcing our three young children to sleep in snow gear because no extra blankets were provided. While the owner originally acknowledged these issues upon check out and proactively offered a discount on a future stay, management has since refused to honor it. \"Melody\" was dismissive, fixated on naming technicalities, and claimed the owner would \"never\" offer a discount. Between the freezing rooms, hard beds, and rude service, it’s not worth the money.

Unfortunately, this was a disappointing experience. We reserved the the room with the Lakeview costing us $370 a night. We arrived at 3:00 pm at check in time and our room was not ready. It seems they attempted to clean our room while we were waiting however i don’t think they actually cleaned it. I was disappointed to find dark long hair on the bathroom floor and the bathroom rug was dirty. The balcony furniture was dirty and the blankets had pets hair on it. The room was definitely not clean. The property is very run down and in need of major repairs. We rented one of the most expensive unit to have lake view and the kitchen. What a disappointment, the kitchen had a non working fridge, they had no utensils. They had a coffee maker that used paper filters but they provided coffee pods instead. The next morning we woke up at 8:00 but couldn’t take a shower since there was no hot water. We couldn’t make coffee and when we went to the office at 9:00 to have the breakfast they promised us, we found instant a chaotic mess.

Check-in staff was very friendly and helpful with their limited resources.
BUT - for $200 did NOT meet expectations. The TV and Internet never connected - just sat buffering even with password used to connect to WiFi. No coffee pods available and there was a used pod in the coffee pot. The small fireplace never came on although the wall furnace was great and easily warmed up the room. The bed springs, plastic mattress cover under the sheets and awful thin pillows made sleeping very uncomfortable (bring your own pillows). The roll of toilet paper was not enough to last the 24 hours so we had to go to office to pick one up - none in room.
A \"breakfast\" was going to be available in the small 5'X5' \"lobby\" at 8:30 am but suspect very minimal - although we left as early as we could to escape (leaving the key in the mailbox because no locked dropbox and staff doesn’t arrive until 8:30am) and went out for breakfast on way out of town.
The room was clean enough but the whole experience was dismal and disappointing for a $200 Saturday night stay.

The lady in the office was extremely nice and wouod go back just because of her. Room had no toilet paper no tissues no cups a use paper roll in the kitchen. Mo cups for coffee. Bug and yello stains on the ceiling of the bathroom and i felt claustrophobic in there. Other than i wouldnt stay there anymore.

I do not recommend staying here. Yes, the price it nice, but you get what you pay for. Immediately entering the room, it is super under whelming and run down. The walls are thin, we could hear the neighbors shouting and partying. When we returned after dinner, we noticed the door to the hallway was open on both the upstairs and downstairs, which felt very unsafe. Anyone can walk down the halls in the middle of the night. The cherry on top was the COCKROACHES in the bedroom! One came crawling on the bedside table right towards me! After this, we immediately packed up and left for another hotel. Did not even stay the night. And of course the hotel denied it and refused to refund us. Do Not Stay Here!

Upon first impressions, I really wanted to leave a 1-star review. The front office spells awful. Our room was not ready at check-in and when we did come in, the fumes of Fabulosa had us needing to leave. And even though our room was late because of being cleaned the place was still very dirty. Stains on sheets and a lot of dirt and hair. But, I can tell that they are trying to keep this place going and it could’ve been much worse. When I inquired about the fire place not working, they fixed it. The heat cranks really well! The property is lake front as the pictures show, but the rooms and garden view are inaccurate. Please do not depend on the complimentary breakfast.
The takeaway for us, was that housekeeping needs an overhaul and everything else could be overlooked.

Worst hotel experience ever! The room was completely uninhabitable. The room was freezing, the thermostat did not work, the entire hotel’s furnace was out, and the gas fireplace did not work in 30-degree temperatures! Live and dead cockroaches were present and there appeared to be bed bug residue on the sheets. The second of two “queen beds” was actually a hide-a-bed spring mattress only a few inches thick that offered no support from a plywood \"box spring\" and the bed squeaked loudly with any movement. The ramp leading to the stairs was covered in about two inches of mud and dangerously slippery. The whole place smelled of industrial chemicals. I checked in but immediately had to leave after inspecting the room because the place was uninhabitable. The manager called the proprietor who then audibly yelled at the manager and ordered her to refuse a refund. The only consolation they would offer was an electric space heater with no temperature control which was a fire hazard particularly on wood floors. I ended up having to drive myself and minor child home to Sacramento arriving at 2 am. Avoid this place at all costs.

Honestly it wasn’t what I was expecting the rooms didn’t look like in the app the cleaning lady was really rude didn’t want to give us another toilet paper when I stayed the 3 nights everything in the room is damaged like the table the chairs where wobbly the price for that ugly place was ridiculous the breakfast that says included it’s not even breakfast it’s cold food not even being warm I will honestly tell all my family and friends to not go there ever worse experience at big bear for my first time I wanted to have a great time for my birthday really sad it went like this!!

We arrived 15 minutes until check in time and the manager said we can check in with a $30 check in fee (which was on that’s their policy no problem). We decided to just wait the 15 minutes then check in. When we got to our room the small of gas was strong. My head started to hurt and my child that had asthma wasn’t feeling well. We tried to air out the room which didn’t work. My husband alerted the front desk she stated “it’s fine we just had the gas guy come.” No accommodation at all just “it’s fine.” We waited to see if the smell would go away it didn’t. We walked to the counter to alert the front desk that was also the manager about the gas smell. She was visibly upset about this. She rolls her eyes at my husband, snatched the keys from him and had a condescending tone. She said it’s fine but she will move us rooms and brought up that my husband didn’t want to pay the early check in fee. I’m not sure why that mattered!!! I didn’t feel comfortable staying there. 1- Her lack of safety concerns for the building 2- lack of concern for her customers and safety 3- She was the rudest hotel worker I have ever encountered in my life. We treated her with respect in conversation. I didn’t feel safe staying there. She bullied us and said she would not give us a refund, she stated Expedia would side with her and customers do not get refunds. I was shaken up with this whole experience, my children were very upset. She refused to give us a receipt. Please do not do business here!

I stayed for 1 night with 3 other guests, got there less than an hour prior to check in so was hoping to check in a bit early due to being tired from our drive up the mountain & needing to use the restroom. The guy working reception was polite but the moment I walked into the office, he was on the phone w/ a woman on speaker. I’m guessing she was the owner but she was so rude, she was berating him, said it’d be a $30 early check in fee and then demanded he have me step outside of the office because she didn’t want me to hear them talking. After waiting outside of the office for 15 min I went back in the office to get a status (this was after the guy had returned from running back & forth through the property—my guess is to see if there were any rooms available/clean). He was still on the phone w/ that woman, and I politely said we just wanted to know if we can check in already as we had to use the restroom (there is no public restroom on site) otherwise we’d find somewhere to kill time. The guy working reception seemed overwhelmed w/ the woman on the phone and then said he cannot accommodate an early check in & will see us at 3pm. After checking into our room, we realized we only had 3 towels in our room so went back to the office to ask for another & they stated they were all out of towels. There was a lady at that time working reception & she was on speaker w/ the same woman who was talking in the same rude demeanor. Rooms were ok & shower had mold. Wouldn’t return.

Everything in this room was old: the sofa was very old, the upholstery was frayed in places, the floors were dirty when we moved in, we asked them to wash them the next morning because the office was closed in the evening. We stayed there for two nights and the trash wasn't taken out. In short, I won't go there again.

This was hands down the worst place I have ever stayed, and that’s saying a lot. The cabin I booked wasn’t even serviced—mouse droppings everywhere, a carpet so filthy it was questionable to even walk on, and the entire place looked like it hadn’t been cared for in years. I had to beg for someone to clean it, and when the “housekeepers” finally showed up, they actually said they didn’t even have a vacuum and would just sweep. Seriously?

And to top it off, at night you could hear rats crawling around. Absolutely disgusting. This place is filthy, rundown, and completely mismanaged. The ownership clearly does not care about guests or basic cleanliness. Save yourself the headache and stay far, far away.

This trip was spontaneous and we decided to get a cheaper room. The room itself wasnt bad but the firplace didnt work and the outlets on an entire wall didnt work, which meant the tv didnt work and also the fridge, which was kind of annoying since we had food that belonged in the fridge. I was told i would get a partial refund, so im hoping that they follow through. Besides that the hotel was in a good location, the staff was kind and the room was decent.

This is a cozy property right on the lake! They had a property-wide maintenance issue on our first night but the front desk employees were friendly and accommodating about it. The issue was resolved for the second night and we were compensated for our troubles.

Our little one liked the balconies overlooking the courtyard. This hotel was in a great location and within a short walk to Big Bear Village.

We'd recommend you stay at this hotel, especially for the price!

Such a great cozy little spot. I was only there for less that 24 hours but I was greeted by staff with so much kindness every time and felt very welcome. I loved how close I was to the village which made it super easy to take a nice walk to the shops. Everything was clean and maintained. 10/10 recommend if you’re looking for a quiet place to recharge.

The room was nice but noticed there was a little gap under the door when we closed it. Sure enough, a mouse squeezed thru and scared the wife. I brought it up with the front desk and they made a note of it. That was the only opening I saw so that must have been where it came in. Other than that, I didn't have any complaints.

The stairs were hard to navigate, but we are seniors. We were super disappointed that the fireplace didn’t work. The room was decorated nice and the kitchen was a plus. Terry the manager was extremely nice. Part of the disappointment was Expedias fault. They listed it as having breakfast, it was continental. All and all it is a good location and fairly priced.

We were happy with this property. The location was great although we weren’t in a room that had a Lake view, It was a beautiful location. A little bit disappointed about the fireplace, not working, but the owner said she’s going to be making improvements on all of the amenities.

Location is great walking distance to village right on the lake it’s budget friendly but outlets were loose we could barely keep our phones charged and had to try one outlet after another that wasn’t about to fall out of the wall the deadbolt wasn’t working the coffee machine did not work. Staff were nice. If anything, I would say they redeem the place. We especially enjoyed the picnic tables by the lake. We were 4 families in total with 4 rooms.

They had a pingpong table that our kids enjoyed.

Town was walkable 5mins maybe but I personally would not let my kids walk because there’s no paved sidewalk. I felt unsafe but as a big group i thought we would be hard to miss and the rest of our group wanted to walk so we did. Just be careful if you do that as cars were pretty fast.

we moved the picnic tables around since we were a big group and staff allowed us to do so. our kids were able to play on the parking grounds and on the sand. given that is summer, there were lots of growth in the water so we weren’t able to play in it. ducks were everywhere. the sunrise was nice.

the rooms are a different story. the pictures made it seem like they were up-to-date but that is very far from reality. lighting were dark and depressing. locking rooms don’t feel secure to me at all. luckily we didnt bring much valuables. towels were old and in different shades of white except “new towel” kind of white.

we had a microwave and a kitchen sink beside it. that helped given the bathroom sink was tight.

power outlets need to be updated. none on them worked unless you bend your adapter’s metal plug to keep them in.

water pressure was nice. but look to adjust before use or you will flood your bathroom like we did.

not sure i love it but we did like our company and staff.

The lady who cheched us in was very nice and friendly.
There were many issues with the lodge. The place itself is very old which would have been ok, however. The issues with the room are as follows. The heater disnt work. The bathroom door didnt align properly so the door did not close all the way. The shower did not drain while taking a shower. The shower doors did not keep the water inside and water spilled out all over the bathroom floor. The fireplace didnt work. The screen door leading to the balcony did not stay on the railing.

Well to get things started the tv cable to watch it was not working didn’t have any tv reception for our stay they tried to take care of it and replaced the tv in our room but it was not the tv it was the cable co then we had RATS in the room at night the management tried to accommodate us with several rooms but no tv service as far as the rats we ended buying rat traps to be able to stay in the room second night we killed one last night there we killed two rats we enjoyed our stay in the day the view was awesome from our balcony but it was the problem with the cable service and the rats management was awesome trying to put us in other rooms to accommodate us but the reason we stayed in that room was the view that we paid they even offered us our money back if we wanted to leave but to find a place for the weekend would’ve been hard to find a room so we stuck it out that’s why I bought the traps so we didn’t have to go looking for another place the management did what they could to keep us happy but we stuck it out ownership needs to pursue these problems to get us back we really enjoyed our view from our belcony that’s why we stayed Wife wanted to leave but I talked her into sticking it out but I killed 3RATS now that issue really needs to be addressed we want to go back to the same lounge for the winter but hopefully these issues are taken care off by then management was doing there best to help us out but it has to do with ownership of lounge

Original room was unclean, discussed with hotel agent to get another room that was clean, another room was assigned that was clean. All beds have box springs that were noisy. Property was quiet with Big Bear Lake behind Lodge and close to The Village area

Well after checking in we thought the room looked a little weird, but couldn’t quite put our finger on it. It wasn’t until after we laid down to go to bed that my wife felt something crawling on her leg and we flicked the light on to see what it was, and seen a bunch of cockroaches scattering all over the place, including the one that was running on her leg Once I called management at 11:30 to let them know that we’re checking out I was met with a lady Donna, who had a terrible attitude. And all I wanted to know was where I could leave the key because I wasn’t gonna subject myself or my wife to sleeping in a hotel that has cockroaches. Once I told her about this, she exclaimed that they never got complaints on room seven and that’s the handicap room. That explained why the room was just one box with a bed, which was really uncomfortable By the way….
I actually have a picture of it (roach) and I would love to upload it to this. I think I should get a refund and I would consider taking my review down if I was compensated.

OK, but with some effort could be excellent.

I rate the room OK. The essentials worked...bed was comfortable, hot water for shower. But there was only 1 chair in the room and none on the patio so we couldn't sit on the patio together, the handle on the microwave was half broken, no ice available anywhere, and the TV was small and about 13 or 14 feet from the bed so hard to view. Also no channels available, only via Internet connection so we watched Youtube videos.

The room was very dusty—fan, vents, and furniture all had visible dirt. Clearly not cleaned properly. Manager seemed okay with everything and didn’t take concerns seriously. Very disappointing.

Horror night

Horrible everything! This place has not been cleaned for YEARS (I’m not afraid to say that). It was scary to sleep, especially with an infant. I was scared of rats getting to my little one, so there was no sleep at all((( never had experienced anything like this in any hotels, and I traveled quite a bit throughout my life at different places in the world, never would imagine that somewhere in the US it is possible to see this kind of “picture” I cannot name it home nor hotel.
