We did not get a balcony room as requested. The window in the room did not lock and they could not fix it so they moved us to a new room. The new rooms on the third floor AC was working so we slept in a hot room, therefore no sleep.

I arrive to Check in at 9:00pm, nobody in the counter until 9:30 or 9:45, many people waiting, my room , no water in the Toilet, and the chimney never turn on, thank god only one night. Never come back, I thin Motel 6 is better of that.

There was no water for one day, and on the second day, there was partial water. We had to purchase water to flush the toilet.

For $300 a night I feel I need to be fully refunded of $600. There was no security door. It was taped open so you didn’t need a card to get in. It was extremely hot and no air-conditioning was available. The smoke alarm went off twice in the middle of the night and we called the front desk and no one answered.

I had a smooth check in about 6pm. Once I settled into the room, and got back from dinner and showered, the shower handle wasn’t installed properly and moved suddenly turning the water scalding hot almost burning me.. we went to the front desk to changed the room because we’d be there for 3 nights.. the next room we were given, the adjoining room door didn’t lock, so they had their facilities person check it. You guessed it, we got another room. The next room, seemed fine except that the fire place didn’t work. Part of the reason why we booked this place. So our fourth and final room was fine except that we didn’t get the king bed we paid for, instead we got a very uncomfortable queen bed. We settled with this room because it was nearly 10pm and we were just tired. Not to mention the front desk person was very rude after the second room on. She made us feel like we were the problem but the rooms weren’t maintained properly. Also, no AC. The rooms are all heated.

Breakfast the next morning was different. I expected a continental breakfast but breakfast was as the adjoining hotel restaurant. You can use credit toward the a la cart menu or choose a set plate (1 egg, hash brown or cottage cheese, bacon or sausage, and bread). It served its purpose. The staff there were friendly.

On the last day, housekeeping was knocking on our door making sure we were going to check out, mind you we still had 30mins until checkout.

Front desk was on break and got stuck in traffic and we waited 45 minutes to check in. The electric fireplace was not working properly. Staff fixed it and the pilot light kept going out. The sink stunk like something rotten. It was an okay stay near downtown.

Love the walkable distance to the village. Good room. Some areas needed some maintenance and cleaning. Also, the room wasn’t very quiet, our dog could not sit still because of how many noises there were so late at night. Love the lobby. Pretty good beds and bathroom and tv. Super convenient.

STAY AWAY! Having stayed at this property multiple times over the years, and in this room specifically several times, I was astonished at how much the property had fallen apart since I’d last visited. What was once among the nicer properties in Big Bear, is now more like an overpriced, expansive Motel8. Fireplace that doesn’t work. Sink that doesn’t work. Heater that doesn’t work. Tub too filthy to step foot in. Bed that's a brick. Pillows like oversized kitchen sponges. Oh, and not enough towels and blankets.

But what really set this place apart on this trip was the nighttime front desk staff. Either too lazy or ineffective to handle drunken hotel partiers causing a ruckus for hours, stretching into the morning, between the shouting, the arguments, and the cheering along to foot races down the hallways, hotel staff sat on their hands and did nothing. Suffice to say everyone – kids included – were woken up repeatedly, making for an awfully pleasant next day.

And the best part of all, when I called down to the front desk to ask that something be done, the response I got from the man at the front desk was to dismiss my complaint and hang up on me.

To say I’ll never stay here again is an understatement. I’ll vocally tell those around me to make sure they don’t ever make the same mistake.

The room was noisy all around. The lobby wasn't ready for us or anyone staying there. They were out of coffee and hot chocolate, the host was always on a break and only one person taking care of the desk. I went to check out 3 times, and they were taking a break, so I had to wait for them. Horrible customer service. I won't recommend to anyone or ever come back.

Very disappointing stay.
No AC — the room was unbearably warm all night, making it impossible to sleep. Extremely limited staff and absolutely no service whatsoever. We tried the restaurant, but the smell was unbearable, so we had to leave. Paying $500 for one night for this experience is completely unacceptable. Not worth it at all.

Pros: Room was spacious and clean. Love that it had a Microwave, Refrigerator and coffee maker! Location was close to town. Parking was plentiful!
All basic amenities were provided.
Cons: Thin walls, AC was turned off (for the winter) and we were not informed, but once we found out, we opened the window so it was fine.

There’s no AC in the rooms and although it’s cold outside the room was too warm. The temperature was 75 and wouldn’t go lower even when we turned off the heater. After I complained they offered to give us a different room where the AC wasn’t working either but had a sliding door. We didn’t take it because the sun was hitting right where the sliding door was and that room felt warmer. So they offered us fan. The place was clean, staff was polite and friendly. Very nicely decorated for Christmas (lobby) but the whole no AC is really an issue.

The location is great. Walking distance to the town center where a lot of restaurants and shops are located.
The facility is old. Shower and wash products are Dove. Towels are old. The restroom facility is old and hard to adjust proper shower water temperature. TV set is very hard to use as well.

This property is all about the location. Access to the village shops and dining is what its all about here.
The hotel itself is in need of some work as every floor has a “out of order” sign on something.
Our room while clean and well equipped had its shortfalls. The AC couldn’t really keep up with the heat of the day, but was aided by chilly evenings with the sliding door opened up. The toilet in the room is not fully secured to the floor and felt like it was going to topple over when getting up off of it. Never-mind that the toilet was so low that it felt like it was designed for a child.
The room was clean and the bed/pillows were comfortable. TV microwave and minifridge worked well.
Staff was pleasant, although they didn’t alert their guests that a third party was going door to door to check the fire alarms.
Despite the shortcomings, we’ll be back because of the walkability, but really hope they address their maintenance issues.

The air conditioning did not work. I was there for 4 days and on the last day it smelled like roach spray in the second floor hallway. Paid for breakfast in advance and it only comes with a drink and a choice of pancake or French toast, eggs and sausage are extra. I ordered an extra juice that was $5. I ordered a side of sausage that was $5. Of course none of this includes a tip.

I loved that the location is just steps from the village—so many things are within easy walking distance. We were there for Oktoberfest and didn’t have to walk far to catch the free transit to the convention center. There’s even a German deli with beer across the steeet. Those were the big wins.

The front desk staff were kind and helpful, and the property overall was clean.
That said, it’s definitely dated. The bathroom towels were super thin—think 1-ply—and way too small for an adult (they barely wrap around you), so bring your own if you can. I was hoping to enjoy the pool, but it was small and awkwardly placed in the parking lot, so that was a no-go. The AC wasn’t working during my stay, though they did provide fans. The property could use some updates and repairs, but nothing was truly awful.

It felt like I was visiting in the off-season; I imagine the place comes alive in the winter. There’s even a little on-site restaurant and bar with live music at night, which was a nice touch.

Overall, it’s not as cute, modern, or comfortable as other Big Bear spots I’ve stayed at, but the unbeatable location in the heart of the village makes it worth considering—especially during the winter months

There is an attached restaurant, which is under separate management, and during our stay there they did not open for breakfast (although we had been told that breakfast would be available there from 7:00 AM.

There was an issue with check in that was likely a combination of issues between the hotel and Expedia that clearly had frustrated the hotel employees and guests as generally tensions were elevated during check in and it was not the most pleasant experience but it was able to be resolved. The AC was not working in the entire hotel and it was a hot weekend though it cooled down pretty well at night and was quiet enough to keep the windows open. The hotel location is great! Very walkable to things and ample parking which was appreciated. Generally pleasant stay.

1. Air didn’t work. They said they’ll bring a fan to the room and never did.
2. TV didn’t work. One person says they’ll send someone up. We went out for several hours for dinner return to it still not working. Call down again they say it’s still not working properly.
3. The restaurant said they closed at 10 (on a Friday night) but when we walked down at 8:45 pm they said the kitchen closes at 9.

It was so annoying because the hotel was a perfect location to everything but now we’d think twice before booking here again.

We went to this hotel for our baby moon on labor day weekend and it was very very warm outside, once we got there to check in the front desk gal told us there AC is down and she will put us down stairs where it’ll be cooler also have housekeeping bring a fan for me since i’m pregnant! haha so let me tell you the fan they brought was as big as my ipad! and they only brought one fan, my poor fiance didn’t get one for himself for the nightstand, I asked them for another fan twice and since didn’t bring it, I gave up and we tried to make it work for both of us.. also if we wanted to open the glass screen door for cold air at during night time there’s no outside screen where you can lock it only an glass screen door!! so you can’t really have that open during night while we are sleeping cause anyone can walk it!
anyways all I have to say about this place is please at least call your guest let them know when there’s no AC in the hotel when it’s literally around 80s and let them know about the downstairs rooms only has a glass screen doors.. we both had an uncomfortable experience and it’s sucks cause i really love big bear it’s just this hotel of choice! also to mention the front desk gal said she was going to give me $50 off for the inconvenience due to the AC system, I did not see it on my final bill? I didn’t even want to argue and call them for the $50 off they can keep it! cause we’re definitely not coming back to this hotel…

I have stayed at this facility a few times over the years. this was the last time I'll chose this site. No A/C, no TV, check in took 45 minutes with only 5 people in line and 2 clerks behind the counter. apparently there were issues with 3rd party reservations. no discount offered for lack of services.

Great location, friendly staff, and free parking… but that’s it. The AC system was down for the whole property, they don’t let you know before arrival but when you arrive with a sign on the front doors. What are you supposed to do get a last minute reservation elsewhere? They did “upgraded” us to a balcony room with the idea of opening the balcony door over night to cool room. It worked but tell me why there isn’t a least a screen door to avoid bugs from coming in and a little extra safety. The pool and jacuzzi were also out of service and again no heads up when booking, specifically booked this hotel for jacuzzi use. Would stay here only for proximity to the village and free parking but that’s it!

AC was out there was no towels in my hotel room and the hygiene products wasn't swapped out. Only one person to check in for busy labor day weekend so when i went down and requested towels some was suppose be sent up never happened. I also ended up with resort fees and others fees which was mentioned. The day before I call i guess the big bear lodge hotline ans asked about a deposit she told me there wasn't which I was suprised. Yet when i checked my bank account had almost 100 worth of charges added to my expedia booking charge If your on a tight budget and just need a place to stay thats convenient go for it, but if you have a little extra money book somewhere else I slept horribly both nights the only positives was the bed appeared to be cleaned. Overall dissatisfied with this stay in the end I found they are currently in transition of getting new owners so hopefully they give the plave the facelift it deeply needs.

I could agree with this hotel being what it is at a lower price point. The rooms are old, showers are old, everything is old and drying out.
When we arrived, we were informed that the AC was not working in the whole hotel. We agreed to check in, having arrived at nearly 1800 and my mother in law with us. We figured okay, it's Big Bear, we can open the windows, it gets cool at night. We were put on the 2nd floor, because they explained the 3rd and 4th floor were hot because of the AC.
It was not the AC that was the problem. Later in the evening around 2200, my mother in law had already fallen asleep, we went to shower and discovered the shower nozzle was either broken or not working correctly, and the party that was going on when we arrived was still raging on loudly, despite the hotel sign indicating that quiet hours already began.
I called the front desk and the only thing they could offer was to change rooms, because their maintenance went home for the night. I declined since my mother in law was already sleeping.. They also informed me the party was supposed to last until midnight. How would changing rooms help - it would still be noisy. The party went on til 0100, and also stirring the whole night from the loud music and cars outside. The hotel refused any type of credit. No prior notice to the guests either about the loud party that went on past hours.
Their customer service sucks. This room was $360 for one night. What a joke. Never again.

When we arrived, we found out the whole Hotel’s air-conditioning system was out and would not be repaired till the morning. They did provide us with a Phan. It was difficult to get my mom in and out of the hotel as their ADA elevator was also broke and the only way to get to the other elevator was for her to walk down stairs. It was warm during the day because it was summer to the point of uncomfortable, but in the evening it was nice and cold with the windows open and the fan going so we went ahead and stayed as the room has been prepaid for. when I checked out, they did not charge my room to my bank for almost a month.

They recommend we “open a window” but we were on the ground floor leading into the open patio area so it’s not like we can leave that open that long. Do not book!

Property is either in process of bankruptcy or ownership change. I heard 2 different stories. However, air conditioning system for entire hotel has beeb broken for 2 months and no repairs scheduled. The hot tub was also non functioning. No repairs are being made. If this is how Holiday Inn allows there brand to be represented, I'd never book at a Holiday Inn facility again. Staff, however, was great and relocated me to a room that was less than 80 degrees in the evening. I felt bad for the staff who were left on the front line to deal with unhappy customers by their management.

That was a horrible and terrible experiencing, especially in a very hot day and sleeping at at night with a 84 degrees.
Never come back to this property.

No air conditioning. Shower did not work. 88 degrees all night long. Staff unfriendly. Said no authority. Could not even provide a receipt. I will never rely on your service again. Nor holiday inn stays in the future. I’m really pissed off. And so is my wife.

This is a very well located property, unfortunately, the AC was not working for the hole hotel, this was very uncomfortable, and to make it worse there was no hot water in the shower. Will not be booking here again.

Overall, it was okay. We booked this hotel for one night as part of a cross country trip, and upon arrival we were told that there was no air conditioning in the rooms. There was a big disclaimer letting you know before you check in, however, we had booked it months prior and had just driven 4 hours in a storm to get there, so what were we going to do at that point. I was hoping for some sort of credit, but nothing was offered and the woman at the front desk wasn’t very friendly or apologetic. We made do but we had to borrow a fan and sleep with the door to the balcony open, which wasn’t ideal. Most Holiday Inns have free breakfast, but there was just coffee, which was kind of disappointing. On the plus side, it was clean and convenient to town and there is plenty of parking.

No airconditioning, the jacuzzi was cold everyday we tried to use it.
They refused to provide an itemized billing invoice to me when I checked out. They said Expedial would provide.
They have a pending charge of approximately $75.00 more than my reservation quote with Expedia. If the final charge is more I will be calling Expedia for a refund.
Very disappointed this time at this Holiday Inn Resort

Had a horrible experience this past weekend, which was my birthday weekend. I had booked four rooms for my family. Air conditioning was not working all weekend. Deborah the front desk lady was nothing but rude to not just me and my husband, but but to another family asking about fans Never indicated if we would get compensated and she was rude and demeaning

The room had no air and srayed at 80 degrees. The pool was cold and dirty the jacuzzi was ice cold . We had to have the t.v. ,refrigerator serviced. The shower took 15 minutes to drain. However under the circumstances the staff was very helpful and pleasant.

Clearly a great property that is going downhill. My room had a broken shower. My friends room had a door that dragged on the flooring and made noise. It seemed like many of the rooms were out of commission due lack of investment to keep them in good condition.
