Stayed her for a wedding and didn’t get a chance to enjoy the full property if I’m being truthful. My room was not in the main house - which was fine. But make sure if you’re booking and want the “big house experience” that you confirm room location. Overall an enjoyable stay!

This is an ideal stop for those looking to get away from standard, modern hotels. The old house (inc restaurant) is presented very much as it was in its heyday. The complimentary tour was informative and entertains. Most bedrooms are in buildings set around the plantation and thoughtfully decorated but with a/c and good shower facilities.breakfast was limited to a choice of two dishes (plus juice, fruit, etc) perfectly adequate and served in another out building which facilitated a walk through the well maintained and laid out gardens. Well worth it for something different!

The Monmouth Inn is always a treat to stop at when we’re coming too and from the beach. The staff is always very kind and hospitable, the breakfast is outstanding along with the breakfast staff, the grounds are quite remarkable to walk through accompanied by the many kind cats of Monmouth, all of the rooms are so unique and beautiful to stay in, and the front desk staff are always so welcoming and inviting. For each stay, we’ve gotten a different room and it’s always so exciting to see where on the grounds we end up. Each room has its own story. It’s like a storybook comes to life. If you’re looking to add a unique and memorable experience to your trip, this is the place to be!

The staff were wonderful both in the restaurant and at the front desk. The cleaning crew were very friendly. However, our room smelled very strong of perfume so we switched rooms and that was nice because we had a wooden floor less smell. The rooms are very dated. Also, there’s no coffee in the room. This would be a great addition.

This was our wedding anniversary weekend and our first time staying at a bed and breakfast. Others will have a hard time beating Monmouth.The breakfast was pretty good. The entire staff, including Brianna and Lynn at the front desk, Nechelle, Diamond, and Ms. Mary in the dining hall, the gentlemen working on the grounds and those members, whose names I didn't get, working behind the scenes were absolutely magnificent. We can't forget chef Mike at Restaurant 1818. His bread pudding was some of best we've tasted. We got some to take home.
Overall, our stay at Monmouth was FANTABULOUS!

I got marry here 20 years ago. What a huge drastic change for this place. I’m disappointed. The driveway was not taken care off. You need 4 wheel drive to get up the little slope. The room I stayed in was nothing like the first time.
From the double bathroom sink being wobbly and almost falling off, to the air vents looking like they’ve not been wiped down in months. The stains on the fabric on the bed, the yellow stains on the ceiling, the gaps on the hardwood floors. The stairs going up to the room. Everything just looked dirty and not kept up.
Over 300.00 per night. Not happening again.
The breakfast was DELICIOUS!!!
That grits for breakfast was the BEST!!
Dinner was good. But just not great!
Not sure what happened to this place. But it was a big letdown.
I had to make the best of it since it was an anniversary outing.
Won’t happen again.

Monmouth is our “go-to” place to stay in Natchez. We love the staff, we know them by name and they remember us and greet us like family each time we visit! The property is gorgeous, peaceful, clean, and well kept. We always look forward to our stay and especially to our dinners at 1818 and the breakfast each morning in the garden room. We can’t wait to visit again!

On arrival The Monmouth looked fabulous, the lady on reception was polite and friendly as was all of the staff in the bar and breakfast room, thank you for making us welcome.
Our room was upstairs over the top of the reception area, we were not offered any help to get our bags upstairs, the stairs and outside balcony could do with maintenance they are very rickety. We found our room clean, but small, it needs some tender care to bring it back into shape by updating the bath and shower.
Before dinner we went for a drink at the bar and sat outside in the courtyard, the tables had not been cleaned for some time and were dirty. We dined in 1881 restaurant which we found disappointing, the staff all seemed stressed, and it felt like they were short staffed. The meal was just okay, nothing like what we expected. The wine list was good, but unfortunately not well stocked as two of our choices were not available. Tables were being cleared and reset around us, and it felt like we were in the way. Not the quiet romantic setting we had hoped for! We walked the grounds before dinner. The grounds looked as though they had had no care in a long time.
In summary, it is a sad and neglected property that at one time must have been absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately we feel that the accommodation and restaurant did not live up to expectations or value for money.

Our room was so clean and comfy. The STAFF were ALL INCREDIBLE! They all become so dear to us because they really cared for us like we were family. The grounds were stunning…even in winter. Ms. Mary cooked the BEST breakfasts! They were beyond delicious and made fresh! The dinners in the 1881 Restaurant were 5 STAR Chef rated; from the beauty of each dish to the amazing flavors and tastes of each dish. There is an onsite bar open in the late afternoon and a big wine selection at dinner is available as well. It was all so FABULOUS! Can’t wait to go back to visit everyone and enjoy a few days of paradise!!!

All of the staff I encountered were absolutely lovely. The inn itself could do with some improvements. The breakfast was not great, but the waitstaff were BEYOND wonderful. The bedding was cheap microfiber sheets and a garish fleece blanket; the toilet paper was so thin, I could've read a newspaper through it; the deep soaking tub was a tub/shower combo that had jacuzzi jets, but the display kept blinking error codes. There were paper print out notices stuck everywhere that were adhered to the wall with packing tape about what didn't work or instructions on how to make things work. It was serviceable, but I was hoping for something a bit nicer. I reserved a queen suite and it was quite roomy. It listed a daybed, but that thing wasn't even comfortable to sit on and squeaked so loudly, there's no way a person could sleep on it.

The establishment was clean but aged. The tub in our suite was cracked straight down. The sinks were older and the shower door was definitely dated. The service was great. The food at the restaurant for dinner was exquisite. The grounds were wonderful as my son enjoyed daily bass fishing on the grounds. I wish the rooms were equipped with a mini fridge because once the front desk closed at 9, you couldn’t even get ice. Therefore, I went to Walmart the next morning and purchased a cooler and ice to keep water and tea in the room.

This stay was a good one. I loved getting to tour the grounds and hear about the history of the inn. My only hangups about the inn were the previously used shampoo and conditioner in the room for the toiletries and the mild smell of mold in the bedroom. The staff were great!

Charming Antebellum Hotel

The hotel is stunning, customer service is excellent, the rooms are clean, bed is comfortable, and the tour was free! We enjoyed walking around the gardens. We even saw lightning bugs while sitting on our porch at night. That made our stay magical for my kids. The only two things I wish were improved would be the breakfast and the poison ivy. The food is excellent and it’s cooked to order. The table service is excellent, but I was expecting the French toast syrup to be actual maple syrup instead of regular pancake syrup. I was hoping the orange juice was freshly squeezed but it tasted like store-bought juice. Nonetheless, the breakfast is a fantastic experience. There is poison ivy almost everywhere on the premises, but it is off the walking trails at the least. But it would be nice if they removed it. Overall, I recommend this hotel for its historical charm, comfort, and service.

It was amazing, we want to go back the only thing I make sure next time is to get a lower level, I had my mom with me and she cant climb stairs, it was really hard for her the up and down the stairs, I was also charged to my room for a dinner that we did not consume, but immediately got credit. Excellent stay, excellent crew, best breakfast and had a great time.

The breakfast staff should get a double 5 star.

*The bed, was very uncomfortable. The pebbled driveway- somewhat of a change at times. A paved driveway would have been more helpful, coming up the hill- and keeping the pebbled drive for the rest would have been fine.

Awful. This property is in dire need of renovation. Carpets, bedding and curtains are filthy. Wallpaper is covered in stains and torn in places. Bathroom fixtures and door knobs are peeling and sit on layers of unclean gunk. Towels are old and look like they should be used as rags. Awful awful awful. AND - there are NO amenities in the rooms. No coffee, no water.

The staff and dinner was great. The gardens were in need of some work. Lots of weeds in the flower beds and walkways. We were expecting the condition to be like the online pictures. However it was far from it. The inside of our room also needed to be updated. The wallpaper was peeling in several areas and the furniture was in poor condition. The history of the home is awesome. The property needs LOTS of TLC. The front desk check in folks were so nice and polite. However, the breakfast wait staff was horrible. These two ladies were extremely rude to not only our group, but to others as well. Thursday was our first morning to visit the restaurant. The ladies were smiling and very nice. We asked if they could make change for a $20 bill for the tip. One of the ladies went to the tip jar and retrieved two 5’s and one $10. When she came back to the table, we exchanged the bills. We left a $10 tip. Out at our car, one of the ladies came out and said we did not give her the $20 bill. We said we did, but she insisted so we gave her a $20. When we counted the money we brought, we were short $20. Those ladies got a $30 tip Friday morning. We went back Saturday morning, and had no issues. We left an $8 tip. On Sunday morning, there was no greeting, the ladies made rude comments to us(“y’all don’t want us here!!”)…we did not feel this way nor did we say this. We had to ask for service…they would not voluntarily come to our table. We politely asked for more coffee, the lady walked right by us with no acknowledgement. They finally came to refill our coffee. We were unable to get anymore refills on our coffee as they would not come back to our table. A very small tip was left today. The waitstaff came out(we were waiting for the rain to pause) and returned our tip with another rude comment.

Maintenance not great. For example, a plastic outlet cover was broken. Fancy spa tub was not caulked all the way around. Water never got above tepid. Yes, it's a historic inn, but we were not in the main building, and there wasn't much about our room that was historic. One positive thing was the delicious food.

Hotel and grounds were lovely. Really enjoyed the antebellum charm. However, we were disappointed that there was no coffee maker in the room. One would expect that in a hotel of this quality. After our first night stay, the room was not serviced. We had to ask for fresh towels at 4:00 PM in order to make our New Year's even dinner. After that, the service was fine.

Loved eating in the Resturant 1818! The rooms in the Carriage House were just plain shabby and tired looking. The carpeting needed replaceing. Was very worn. Rooms needed repainting and walls cleaned. Shower was a puzzlement. Tub very tall hard to step in and out of. I/2 door on shower caused to floor to get really wet. Spray from shower was too fine of a spray and went everywhere. Loved the working fireplace. Plug in sockets were shabby and needed replacing. Blind pulls were dirty, frayed or missing entirely. Basically, room was a complete turn off because of the shabbiness. I would not recommend or ever want to sleep there again.

Nice large rooms with comfortable beds and seating. Good provided breakfast with staff that was largely amenable to our requests. Showers were tiny, which I might be able to somewhat overlook; BUT there were no towel bars or rings within reach of the shower. Together, that kept the in room experience to rising to excellent. Areas ON the property were nice and mostly walk-able, though the way from our accommodation near the breakfast building lacked pathways behind them to reach the main house (had to walk on grass as otherwise one would have had to wind around a gravel driveway). Areas just outside the property were largely residential and nondescript, though there was a convenience store / gas station just on the corner, which was, well, convenient. The restaurant in the main house was nice but not exceptional.

While a little dated, it was extremely authentic and I would highly recommend for anyone wishing to experience the old South. The surrounding gardens were beautiful as was the overall setting. A great experience.
