Generally speaking is a very nice hotel. I’ve been there many times. This year noticed the breakfast (which was included) was not the same. Less to offer with less selections. Also, for the first time they charged me €16/night for parking. They told me had you booked the stay through them the parking would be free. But because I booked through Expedia they charged me.

Difficult to recommend .....

We had to change the room as the bathroom was smelly; the new room was much better but the bed was rather hard. The breakfast was poor, with limited choice and insufficient seating for all the guests. We booked through hotels.com where free parking was included but the hotel refused to honour it and we had to pay 16 Euros per day. Will not stay here again.

It was an impressive building and in its prime would have been spectacular. It appears they may be upgrading it but it certainly isn’t complete. Shabby in communal areas. Breakfast cold when should be hot. Staff friendly though. Would have been nice to have had a lift to the 5th floor where we were put. Clean room though when we had finally arrived. Maybe in the next couple of years it will have been brought back to the glory it has previously enjoyed

Noise transfer between guest rooms

A few disappoints with my stay. The first room offered had a broken air conditioner. Talked to the front desk and acknowledged it had been reported. Offered a new room with air. The shower was tiny and the wall clip for the hand held shower was broken. Showering was challenging. Walls are paper thin and heard even normal speech clearly from room next door. And older wooden floors meant I heard every footstep from room above. But housekeeping and breakfast staff were very friendly and the breakfast quite good and reasonably priced. But all considered I would not stay again.

Very disappointed! Dated rooms,, atrocious food!!

1st family room terrible: broken furniture, tiny tv, old n dated. Asked for a better room (was a queue behind me) gave us 2 keys. 2nd room newly refurbed, modern but window blocked by scaffolding. 3rd room, the same. asked is this the best you have?

Offered 4th attic room, only problem is you have to take lift to 4th floor then walk up the emergency fire escape stairs, 2 flights!

I have arthritis, a knee replacement and cant walk up stairs. Sigh

The room was really good with great front seaviews.

So agreed to move (having a great room for a week was more important than a lift to the floor).

Not IDEAL!

Room was large, double bed, futon bed, single bed, table/chairs for 2. 2nd room with a double bed. Table/chairs for 2. Modern, light, airy and really nice. Small fridge, good sized tv. Sea view from two chest high windows.

Bathroom OK but shower was basic and being so high had weak water pressure. But did the job.

Made the mistake of booking half board.
Never again. Food was atrocious. Every pasta dish was cold. Complained, waitress said it was supposed to be cold! Mixed meat grille = two wafer thin slices of unknown meat, with half boiled potato n gravy. Like a tv meal. Not one meal was satisfactory, at least two of us had a bad dish. Calamari main course= served with lays crisps!! Bottled water only €3. Not bad but 4 of us n we drink a lot of water, €12 just on water every meal without wine. Breakfast ok still chef cant cook, undercooked eggs, bacon, 4*?

Needs improvements

The hotel is up a hill which makes for nice views but not great for a family with a baby. The hotel is also only half renovated. We were given a room in the floor that hadn’t been renovated and was unacceptable and nothing like what I booked but they kindly changed us to the renovated part which is acceptable. The service at reception seemed a little unfriendly but it was also busy so perhaps just stressed.

The hotel is in a very bad condition, everything was very old, an not in a good way. The first room we got had at first no water and no light in the bathroom. Got another room but the minibar was not cleaned and half used bottles left, which by the way is very clever during COVID-19. We left the hotel 30 minutes after arrival. This is a 1 star hotel.

Grand Hotel located within 5 min walk of the city, but very pleasant to stroll along the sea front. Impressive lobby area. Rooms were clean and tidy although hotel was undertaking some refurbishment works, the staff were pleasant.

The staff were fabulous and so helpful and kind in sorting our booking - we were also upgraded to one of their newly refurbed rooms. Dinner & breakfast were good too ... great location just a little set back off the seafront but it was quiet and calm, safe for car parking and just a lovely stay. Would definitely recommend.

A Grand Old dame

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It evokes the feeling of travel in the past. All the original features of the hotel are still there - from the wood and glass revolving door, the separate reading room and bar, the restaurant and breakfast room to the original ceiling features, everything that made this hotel a grand old dame. It does need some TLC, some upgrading of the amenities. But it is still a pleasure to stay there (evidenced by the full carpark at night). The staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. The room is spacious and comfortable. The view is magnificent. WiFi worked well. Breakfast is very good with lots of choices. A very comfortable stay.

Magnificent Sanremo

,We took our elderly parents so,the magnificent steps up to the entrance was challenging. However there was a lift to the upper floors.
The place still had remnants of its glorious past and a recent paint job made everywhere look fresh.
The view to the sea was magnificent but as I was also under the carparking area found the late arrivals very noisy and sleep difficult.
The beds were firm and comfortable and there were enough pillows.
For those who enjoy breakfast I am sure there was enough variety to please everyone.

Grand Old Hotel Sanremo

The hotel is in what must be a historic building with a very grand facade.

The view from our balcony out over the Mediterranean was great.

The hotel's rooms were just OK. There is only so much that can be done within the framework of an old building. The bathroom in our room had been remodeled sometime in the past and was just OK. As is fairly typical with older European hotels the rooms were small.

My wife thought the mattress was lumpy.

The TV was small but we didn't watch it because none of the channels we looked at were English language channels.

The lobby and dinning rooms were very elegant.

The staff was always very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. I had a bicycle and the had no issues with storing it away securely when I came back from my rides.

This was a great find, with beautiful views. The hotel is older, charming with beautiful touches throughout. The breakfast was amazing - lots to choose from. I would not recommend the restaurant, you are better off finding one of the restaraunts near the location. The food was just okay and not worth the price.

Historic old hotel set back from the road. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The air conditioning system blew cold air away from the bed which made it easy to sleep. The breakfast was excellent.
Pity that on arrival one has to climb a number of stairs and that the revolving door is so small that one has to hug a large suitcase to get into the hotel. Such a simple thing which I hope they will correct before my next stay.

Awful. The hotel was obviously grand in its hey day, but lack of expenditure has ensured that this is not now the case. Bedroom was huge and clean but sparse. Car parking could be very difficult if hotel full. The food produced in the restaurant was awful. A lesson needs to be learned.

2 Days in San Remo

Pleasant hotel in a lovely spot on the Italian Riveria. Hotel was somewhat dated, but excellent value regardless. Staff was pleasant and helpful throughout our 2 day visit.
Hotel is located midway up a hill of the main road. Lovely view, but was a hike up the hill from the road. Even from the parking area, lots of steps up into the hotel.
Off season, so hotel staff other than the front desk, for example a doorman to help with the suitcases, was not as present as one would expect.

A very comfortable stay!

Just a short stay of three nights in San Remo in order to check out the casino, and this hotel is just a few minutes walk from it and the city centre. The staff are generally friendly at the hotel, and the buffet breakfast (included) is excellent. It is fair to say that it is in need of a little decoration, but don't let this put you off.

An amazing find. Deserves the high ratings.

Amazing hotel from the Grand Tour days, keeping much of that ambiance of luxury at an affordable price: the spa, the marble, the uniforms, bell rings, restaurant, period furniture, old keys, reception, view, marble stairs entry and lobby; yet, modern in comfort. I don't know how much more they could update without losing the lovely antique patina that permeates the entire hotel. (The marble/ceramic/tile bathroom is modernized leaving most of the original. Very comfortable modern beds.) Definitely tweaked my imagination and was was a highlight of the trip.

The hotel is old and have seen better times, but that is just part of the charm. I got a heavily discounted price which made the hotel well valued, but I wouldn't pay full list price. Though the hotel writes it got private parking, there are no guarantee that there is space, as it's \"first there, first served\".

Very nice grand old aristocracy hotel. Will deffinitely stay there again. Very italian riviera. Short walk to the beach. The rooms and the bathrooms were huge and clean, high ceilings. Vry nice art artwork all over the hotel. Very nice views. Deffinitely have an esspreso or an aperitive in the hotel bar. The staff was very helpful.

Grand Hotel Way Past Its Day !!!!!

On The Web Site ..It couldn't Look Better ,Location ,Size of rooms and cost was Great .Till we arrived at Night ,No Parking had to Park down Hill Backwards as the 20 Spaces was full and no way to Turn around so be prepared to drive down a Hill In Reverse .Dropped Family off unloaded Suitcases and when i walked back up the hill and saw the room no A/C ....or fans and it was hot i knew it would be a Long Night ....The room was Big In a old 1880 fashion but shower door was derailed and grubby looking ....We got ready to go out and told front desk that there is a Toilet leak on floor she was so Rude at Desk .went out 3 Hours and door rehung but water flooded on floor still left no change ...called for Fans said there isn't any .....in The Morning we all was crankier as hard to sleep in room 80,s degrees and we left windows open and got bug Bites...stayed in 12 hotels in my trip this is worse in Europe !!!!!!.....

The interior of the hotel was quite nice, but the exterior could use some upkeep..but I'd rather that than the other way around..

Travelling with 2 children we were very appreciative to end up with a 2 bedroom suite for a bargain price. It was off season. The hotel is a 5 star hotel from the 1920s. it is dated. The rooms were clean and the bathroom s modernised. It's a bit quirky and won't suite all people but we really liked it.

It may have needed a bit of tlc in places but somehow this added to the experience the staff were brilliant and so helpful with a sense of humour. What a lovely find

This old hotel, in the heart of Sanremo, is, as all reviews will tell you, a bit run down. But I'd advise visitors to accept that as part of the experience, and remember that the hotel offers superb value. We felt as though we were players in an old film, and enjoyed the scale of the place and the history. Our room (one of the smallest) was absolutely fine and the hotel was spotlessly clean. Service could not be faulted and the staff were charming. Great value and a great experience.

Nice Hotel in a great location overlooking the sea but could really do with a bit of a revamp. Paint on the walls a bit scuffed and carpets have seen better days. Breakfast was ok but took a while to replenish the buffet after some guests arrived en-masse. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and I would use this hotel again when visiting San Remo.

FOUR STARS? YOU'RE HAVING A LAUGH!

A grand hotel that looks great from the outside but has seen much much better days. A tower fan provides \"air conditioning\", room is tired and in desoerate need of refurbishing with crusty badly painted crusty walls old wooden wardrobes ( four hangers are provided in a double room). However it was clean, there is parking if you get there early enough, and it is close to the sea and away from noisy streets.

Great location, great views, older condition/decor

Fantastic views of Med and great value for location. Staff was very helpful in dinner and beach recommendations. Breakfast at hotel was plain. In summer make sure to get a room with A/C as half the rooms do not have this. Very hot at night during our August trip. Hotel is easy walking distance to most attractions with a great beach located across the street. Guests must walk up a steep hill to get to the hotel from the beach.

This hotel was top-notch 20 years ago. Now, with air-conditioning present only in some of the rooms it is not the best and needs remodeling, but it is compensated by the price. Location is perfect. Sea view is great. Hotel service is very good. Recommend if you like the price but don't wait something special.

la chambre etait propre , spacieuse, le seul bemol de la chambre c’est l'insonorisation. On entend trop les gens rentrés et sortir des chambres , de plus une personne a criée vers 3 heures du matin , cette personne a réveillée tout l’hotel... dommage sinon l’hotel est tres bien et bien situé, le parking est facile d’acces est devant l'hôtel.

Wel een steile helling naar het hotel te wandelen, wanneer men te voet is.
Ontbijt is redelijk, mits altijd een of twee cappuccino's te vragen, en om 7h30 gaan ontbijten, want grote groepen plunderen het buffet in no time helemaal leeg !… Bijvullen gebeurde niet

J’ai réservé une chambre avec vue mer ! J’ai surtout eu une vue sur l’immeuble d’en face et sur les travaux la vue mer était partielle! Les volets de la fenêtre ne s’ouvrent pas complètement impossible de les plaquer contre la façade ! La chasse d’eau des wc se bloque systématiquement… les sachets de thé ou de café mis à disposition n’ont pas été renouvelé pas de café d’ailleurs… j’ai du descendre à la réception pour faire mettre des piles neuves dans la télécommande du téléviseur! La réceptionniste m’a donné des piles me disant de ne débrouiller qu’elle devait aller aux toilettes!!!elle n’arrivait pas à ouvrir la télécommande! Nous étions déjà client de cet hôtel c’est la première fois que notre séjour a été si décevant! Je tiens à votre disposition les photos…. De la fameuse vue !

Problème de parking avec chargeur électrique pourtant réservé une semaine auparavant que nous n avons pu utiliser que 2h. Réservation au spa impossible une semaine avant alors que nous avions choisi cette hôtel pour cela mais pourtant disponible le jour de notre arrivée.

Kun 5-6 min gange til sentrum.
