Our second time at this hotel this year wasn't quite as great but still good. We booked a lake view room and ended up in a very uninviting room in a corner on the 3rd floor. I had asked to check in early but the hotel hadn't seen my note, so we ended up running around the city for 3 hours in the rain. Staff was still friendly and the room was very clean. Best thing for this hotel is the convenient location next to the station and the yummy breakfast. If you are sensitive to noise beware. The pation overlooking the lake is hasconstruction work going on. Once this is done, it will surely be remarkable.

Comfortable and clean. Lovely view of the lake. Very limited dining choices. The hotel dining room is good, but I had to take a bus or walk to the center for more choice. Many places were closed on both Sunday and Monday, making it difficult to find a place to eat. Construction noise woke me by 7:30 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Very good location friendly staffs. The restaurant the food was very good and a great setting but the waiters after they served us the meal disappeared and forgot to bring us our coffee and when it was time to pay I did need to look for a waiter no one was in the dining room. Great room very clean with a nice view of the lake and the Alpes.

Spacious room / suite in annex. AC worked well. Ambiance: concrete bunker. Large windows with nice views. Could use a shelf adjacent to the (tiny) sink in bathroom for toiletries (to avoid placing shaving kit on toilet cover). Good breakfast. A few small adjustments would make this an exceptional room; as is, it’s merely good.

Comfy but a bit noisy

The room was clean, spacious and the bed super comfortable.
The only down sides were that the front desk lady was a bit rude during checkin and later on her and a cook were shouting about another colleague of theirs and I could hear it all the way up to the bedroom - not super professional. Plus I could easily hear the guests in nearby rooms.

A very basic hotel with fairly small rooms. Breakfast was basic yet satisfactory.
Close to the train station and has on street free parking.

The night was EXTREMELY NOISY, as drunk guests made a hassle at 2AM, and the police that was called onsite made a lot of noise at 3AM. My complaints to the front desk were met with a bland \"yes we know\".

Great hotel with parking and amazing views

Well placed hotel that has amazing views over the lake/city - parking was a little confusing at first as you need to park on street in paid parking bays and run inside to get a sticker to put on your dashboard but otherwise easy enough. Room was a good size and beds comfortable. I didn't think the breakfast was worth the extra 15CHF it cost, however this was in line with other hotels in Switzerland

Courteous staff. Room decor and furniture are a bit outdated. Beds need updating, too low and slim single layer mattress. I would rebook.

This hotel looks better from the outside as the indoor facilities are a bit outdated. The rooms are simple, but there's nothing that stands out, either on the positive or negative side of things.
The hotel's location is convenient but if I would have to stay for a couple of nights, then I would go for the better rooms or look for something else in the city.

Quite nice hotel just by train station

Well situated. Quiet. Small town: easy to walk everywhere. Included parking was very useful for us. Breakfast is affordable by Swiss standards and gives nice view. Only thing is that it was super hot during our stay and they don't have air conditionning (few Swiss hotels do).

This was, in a way, unfair, as the trip was unexpected and my time was therefore short and focused. That said, I found the staff friendly, professional, efficient, accommodating, and the hotel location could not have been better for my purpose.

Weather permitting, make sure to have a meal or at least a drink on the veranda - the view is spectacular and the ambience relaxed and friendly!

Good potentials but...

A beautiful hotel old building well preserved and renovated but it's good for a short stay (esince it is next to Neuchâtel's central train station) not for vacation. The room is renovated, modernly decorated and of a decent size but the mattress is the most uncomfortable one. The bath is big enough and also decently equipped but its aesthetics remind a hospital and has these deplorable dispensers of liquid soap instead of proper toiletries. We were lucky enough to have a corner room with a glimpse of the lake which is really a magnificent spectacle but unluckily, right next to the station is a quite noisy bar especially on Saturday nights. The hotel is overlooking the lake but it lacks a lounge for its clientelle and the only way to admire the exceptional view is from the tables of the two restaurants where, of course, you're obliged to order something. When we arrived the room was impeccably clean but the following day the cleaning lady appeared at 18:30 (!) with the excuse of too many rooms to be cleaned and expected us to leave the room so that she could clean. The staff on the reception, in any case and with no exception,were really polite and amiable. Switzerland is an expensive country but, still, I think that for the hotel's price (~180€ per night for a rear side room no breakfast included on Venere.com) there could have been something better.

Hotel charged us extra six Sfrancs, and on credit card pmnt surprise extra currency conversion charge. Only one night stay, Watch out for extra charges!
Hotel has a large set of steps to climb, one must haul bags
up and down these steps at front entrance. No ramp.
Elevator inside is good.

Weekend stay in Neuchatel

Lovely weekend stay. It's a great location since it's literally right beside the train station. Rooms are very spacious and cleanliness is top notch! Service is good and the condition is alright, a bit old but more than acceptable for European standards. Would definitely stay here again!

Had a room with balcony facing the lake. Although set well back from the lake - next to the railway station - the view was great. Minor problem was that we were there on a Sunday and the restaurant is closed on Sat & Sun. Also found most other restaurants in the old town closed on a Sunday evening.

Guestroom amenities were lacking. No tea/coffee facilities, ironing board, shampoo, (there was a wall-mounted body wash dispenser). Could not receive the three English-language TV channels, but manager said that it was okay because that would be fixed by next week. The breakfast buffet included in the rate was not replenished efficiently. The location is over the road from the Neuchatel railway station, which is perfect for a short stay of a couple of days. This is the third time we have stayed there over the past few years. We go back because there is always anticipation that they must have got better, and because of the good location for train travellers.

Safe, reasonable & decent hotel - great location

Overall, a very good choice for a mid-level hotel. Location literally 30-meters behind the Neuchatel train station and a beautiful 15-minute downhill stroll to Lake Neuchatel, shops, and restaurants. Hotel is well signed and well lit from outside. Front desk staff was warm, friendly, and efficient (fast check-in/out). I had made a request in my online reservation for a high-story room with a lake view, and I was accommodated exactly as per my request. Room was quaint, quiet and clean. Wireless in-room internet was provided as per my booking contract (free). I didn't use any hotel services (other than the net) and I didn't eat in the hotel, so I can't comment about these aspects, though I did notice hotel staff preparing breakfast below my window on an elevated terrace overlooking Lake Neuchatel, and it did occur to me that certainly the ambiance was unbeatable for a lovely morning meal (I already had other plans). Bottom Line: I won't hesitate to book again into the Hôtel Alpes & Lac again on my next visit to Neuchatel. I was comfortable and safe, and completely satisfied with the value received.

It's only a few minutes from the station. It was my second time staying there, and I had a good stay this time, too. The scenery from the window was so beautiful and calm, and the breakfast was delicious.
All the staff are very kind and pleasant.
If I could make a request, it would be more comfortable for me if there were slippers in the room.

Für uns als ÖV-Reisende sehr günstig direkt beim Bahnhof gelegen. Einfache, zweckmässige Unterkunft ohne viel Komfort. Zimmer trotz Lage zur Bahnhofsseite hin recht ruhig. Ärgerlich: in einem der Zimmer war die Lüftung des China-Restaurants darunter bis 11 Uhr nachts doch sehr störend. Ohne Frühstück eher teuer (hatte gemeint mit Frühstück gebucht zu haben, aber \"Frühstück verfügbar\" heisst offenbar bloss, dass dieses zum Aufpreis von Fr. 15.- vor Ort dazu gekauft werden kann).
