No hot tub even though it is the first picture on the property with the pool. Run down. Pictures reflect property in its prime and not current condition. Hop in wall, cracks in sink, door shredded, curtains stained, cigarette smoke came into the room via the vent, sliding glass door bar did not lock. Bedding and pillows were cheap and low quality. Bed frame was broken and slanted.

First night was ok
Wasn’t there much. Beds are lumpy and you could feel the springs in the mattress. The 2nd night Simone must have occupied the room above me. I woke up and took a shower. Opened up my dip kit and it was soaked and filled with water. It ruined my medications my tooth brush and other sundries. I was unable to brush my teeth’s or take my medications.
Desk clerk was nice about it. Said I needed to make a formal complaint to Expedia since they were the hooking agent.

This hotel is unique but a lot of untapped potential. It’s currently quite rundown. The room itself was clean and dusted, but the shower and toilet could have used more attention. There was no fridge or microwave in the room, but you can request them. The pool view area gives off a tropical vibe with its plants, gazebos, and little bridges. It feels like you’re outside but it also is neglected and empty. With regular maintenance and some updates to the rooms, this place could become a fantastic destination for all kinds of groups. The staff was very friendly! I imagine it was awesome when it first opened.

Tub drain backed-up, no shower liner, coffee station's sugar and creamer were ancient (creamer was solid, sugar was all stuck together). Bottom drawer of the dresser was broken.
On the good side, nice sized room, clean, very comfortable bed. Bathroom and room cleaniness was good!

This hotel has amazing potential but is very run down at the moment. The pictures online are very deceiving. We checked into the Executive suite and were shocked at the conditions. There was black mold along the base of the bathtub, the ceiling paint was chipping and falling on our bed, the curtains were broken and falling, the list goes on. We went to the front desk with our concerns. The staff member Wendy was extremely helpful in trying to rectify the situation. She reassigned us to three different rooms until we settled on the least disgusting of the four we looked at. I realize that this hotel is under new management and is slowly being upgraded but it is not worth the amount we were charged for it. I would like to see compensation from them or from Hotels.com for the recommendation to stay here.

Had stayed there many times over the years and it was always perfect. However this time it was seriously disappointing! All restaurants in the hotel and on the grounds were now closed. Bar was open. Parking lots and entry road in deplorable condition. Potholes everywhere! Previously immaculate gardens in densely weeded condition. The hallways in the wing we were assigned had scraped off paint on the walls, stained rugs and smelled of mildew and what appeared to be \"pot\". When hotel told about the \"pot\" smell they just shrugged their shoulders and acted like it wasn't the 1st time they've heard it. Had to ask for additional towels as they only gave you 1 towel of each size for a 2 day stay per person. Did not use draws as they had a strong mildew odor. Didn't use the pool.
On the plus side, room inside was clean and bed was very comfortable. Desk staff was pleasent put appeared apologetic. We were told hotel was being purchased and will be slowly upgraded. Lake view was still lovely even though the piers were damaged and unusable .
Have great hope this property will someday be restored to its former glory.

This property feels like one of the last standing resorts from its glory days. While it could definitely use some extra upkeep, it wasn’t a bad place to stay at all. The charm and unique location made it feel more like an experience than just a stay. Staff was limited, especially with dining hours, but there were plenty of great food options nearby to make up for it.

Staff were more than helpful. Especially Deepa. The hotel is in horrible shape. The grounds are totally lacking any work. Weeds Everywhere! We had to change rooms because a toilet leaked everywhere & could not be repaired. I got the feeling this happens a lot. This hotel should not be open. Not until it is refurbished. I know they are working on it but the place smells, the pool is awful. Dead plantings, dry leaves everywhere.

There was a wild music conference, but we were put in a part of the hotel that was quiet. We felt nervous when we arrived. The room smelled musty, but appeared clean. The couch was very old and needed replacement.

We stayed one night. The inside of the property is amazing. Not sure I have seen anything like that before. When you are in the upper level your balcony is overlooking the hall. That has a great venue place, pool and there was a DJ there the night we stayed so it was super fun sitting on the balcony listening to his sipping cocktails. Kids said pool was cold and the hot tub is removed. There is a small arcade with a couple of old games. The lake has a beach with sand but there is a lot of geese poop.
A few very hip restaurants nearby and ice cream places.
I would say this place has potential. The lady at the front desk told me they are renovating it but by bit. So give it some time and I thins place can be a great destination.

The hallway had old dirty microwaves and mini fridges parked outside of rooms. The room smelled like old stale funk. Mattresses n Box spring felt lumpy and box spring dingy holes. Lobby was neat and interesting.
But perhaps some other wings had
updated rooms. I got a hot rate of $100. But thought it would be a bit better than finding hairs on bedspread.
We didn’t shower got up and left asap.

I booked a room for 5 people only had two small beds, 1 person had to sleep on the floor. Only had two towels in the bathroom for us. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. Wifi was terrible, only one channel worked on the TV. Ceiling tiles falling down in the bedroom entry way. Pool was smaller than it looked in the pictures. Room didn’t have a refrigerator in it.

This property has not been updated in a long time. This had to be amazing in its day. Geese are all over and poop in the water so we couldn’t swim in the lake. There’s a fee for the fire pit. No food or drinks due to lack of staff. No coffee or microwave in room, no hot tub. But… great staff, pool great, nice on first floor facing lake (chairs provided to sit outside, upgraded for free, price was very reasonable for we got, clean room, bed ok, excellent food locations nearby. We would stay again over night.

Hotel was very clean and the staff (Joe) was great. We were a little bummed that it was advertised as having a hot tub and a heated pool, but it had no hot tub and a chilly pool. The pool was nice, big, and clean though. You could smell fresh paint and there were a few signs mentioning the renovations, none of which were hindering. The property is gorgeous and huge, lake front and my room hand and outside balcony overlooking the lake. Overall very happy and would recommend.

This hotel is odd to begin with, the pool is indoors surrounded by doors leading into private hotel rooms with no lighting. We had to walk through a maze of hallways and stairs to find our room which was fifty and run down. The sink had a massive crack it in, the wall paper was all peeling and cracking. The popcorn ceiling was covered in stains and falling apart. The bed was terrible. I think it was original to the hotel from a hundred years ago. Slept awful and was grossed out the entire time. The only reason we stayed was because we arrived around 7 and just needed a place to stay along the road.

We chose this hotel after seeing the pictures on hotels.com and thought it would be a nice change from our usual choice of the Hilton. Mistake! The pool closes at 9 and doesn’t open until 10. There was hair on my sheets and the bathroom wasn’t cleaned well. The hallway where our room was has a strange smell that reminded us of a barn and animals. The curtain was broken so it didn’t close all the way which was very uncomfortable since the curtain covers a patio door leading to the pool area.

The inside the lobby area is nice. The carpet in the hallways and in the rooms have a little bit of a smell to them. I was reasonably comfortable and I don't have a whole lot to complain about except that I wish that I had asked for a room on the exterior of the hotel because I wasn't swimming and all but could hear people in the interior of the resort in the pool and people going by with their luggage carts on the brick floors. It would've been quieter if I'd ask for an external room with simply a view of the lake. They didn't have the restaurant open inside either. The staff was nice enough. And mostly I was comfortable. But I would ask for a different room next time. Mainly because I like quiet and I wasn't swimming in the pool.

The door did not lock or have a safety latch and my 3 year old son was able to run out of the room at random. The first time realizing this, i broke my foot chasing home down the hall. I was refused another room for safety concerns and eventually used heavy furniture to block the door. There were cracks in the walls, the double rooms and bathrooms were very tiny. There is no dining or breakfast offered. And the pool/beach that was featured was filled in with concrete. I paid extra for the double queen deluxe suite and was downgraded due to lack of room available. I was charged $20 for a cot resulting in my overall total for my stay of about $200. I also had mystery charges for things i had not requested for my room.

This was marketed as the “executive suite” when I got there they said I have the “mini suite”
There was no balcony, the “mini suite” was just a large king bed with a couch and two TVs.
I said again that I was “excited to see what the executive suite was.” But, they just looked confused and said I booked the mini suite. I showed them my reservation, and then they gave me my room keys.

The hotel is very old, not up to date with many of the hotels I usually stay in. I will most likely be staying elsewhere each year when I make a business trip to Sturbridge.

I’m mostly disappointed that I spent extra money on a “executive suite” only to get a slightly larger king size room. No microwave, no fridge, and the faint smell of an old building. 4/10. Wouldn’t stay again.

I really wanted to like this hotel. It has so much potential. This place is so run down and outdated, it's sad.

The young lady who checked us in was very pleasant. She was definitely the best part of our stay.

Our first room was disgusting. The hallway to the room smelled like mold/mildew. The room itself was very outdated and faced what looked like a parking lot for abandoned vehicles. Lamp broken, door lock broken. Smelled terrible. Requested a different room. Same lady put us in a different room. Still very pleasant and willing to change our room.

New room...not much different than our first room. Hallway didn't stink like the first but it was very cold. Beds (boxspring/mattresses) were very old, stained and torn. Due to other reviews, I did check for bed bugs. Luckly none were found. One corner of the room smelled very strong of cat/dog urine. Must be a \"pet friendly\" room. Hot water for shower lasted about 5 minutes into it. NO FRIDGE OR MICROWAVE. They are available but you have to request them and they cost $10 extra a night.

Parking lot was not cleared after previous snow storm which made parking and accessing hotel next to impossible.

NO HOT TUB which was very disappointing.

Long story short. I would NEVER stay here again.

Way past its prime

My group of 3 came to town for a gaming convention hosted at the hotel. The staff was nice, but that’s as far as it goes.

Room wise our room had no fridge, and couldn’t get one when asked. Breakfast was advertised… no breakfast was available. Pool and hot tub advertised, pool was cold and hot tub non existent. My wife came specifically for the hot tub and was disappointed for the entire trip. Fitness room has one working treadmill, game room is on a timer and shuts down at like 7pm.

All restaurants and bars inside were closed for our stay until another group came in, then they opened for a limited time. Our rooms shower was broken and sprayed water all over the ceiling, beds uncomfortable. Kurieg in the lobby area but you have to purchase pods from a vending machine.

Overall 4 nights was $700+ and I feel like for what we paid it should have had something more. Thankful for the happy faces we saw during the convention but other than that I won’t be back and wish I could have gotten a refund or stayed somewhere else.

The hotel looks like it once was an amazing hotel but the years haven’t been good to the place. Needs a significant overhaul in maintenance and hospitality to get it back to what its former glory might have been.

We stayed two nights. The first room we were in had no heat. Was blowing cold air out of a ceiling vent. But the service desk was so nice and accommodating and switched our room without a problem. Our second room had a big blob of poop on the outside of the bowl. And a dirty sink. But there was heat. There was a swinger event happening by the pool the entire time where our room was so that was interesting. We went to go to the convention room and the swinger event was having a full a hotel catered meal by the pool, with a buffet line, as we walked through the staff yelled at me and told us to go around, but theres not another way around from what I saw. So I kept walking. And in my opinion I was a guest of the hotel like anyone else and was unaware of a full event happening in the public pool area. Loud music doesn't bother me but there was a full band playing both nights right outside our pool side room that we paid extra for. If this hotel was 100$ or less I wouldn’t expect to much but at 250$ a night it was very steep for all that happening.

I had stayed there 35 years ago. I was surprised the price was so low when I booked it when we arrived and saw that nothing had been maintained or updated since my last visit. It was so bad it was comical. I was chicken to go in the pool because it was so dark in that area at night & they had just had a two day event that resulted in obvious cleanliness issues. Our room was quite clean with comfortable bedding & linens. The staff that we met were very nice & helpful. Heard that new owners are planning to fix it and we are cheering them on because the location is fabulous and the potential is great.

I want sure how to grade honestly, good hotel, had what you need. I really liked the unusual set up with a smartly designed function area with rooms all around with sliding doors. Beautiful area to picnic near the lake/pond. This a beautiful hotel. Unfortunately, since Covid they no longer have a restaurant, hot tub and the adjacent restaurant has closed. There are plenty of restaurants nearby.

The only thing I liked about this place was the staff. The add says that there was a spa, 2 restaurants, fully HC assessable, fitness area. The spa doesn’t exist. In order to get into the fitness area, there’s a tall step to get in. NOT assessable! It was very loud. I reserved a room by the pool. I couldn’t even see the pool from my room. In the morning I went down to get coffee. There was a kurig, but you had to get the pods out of a vending machine. This place has so much potential! Unfortunately that’s all it is, potential.

We were looking forward to celebrating a birthday at a nice hotel but what we got was: Cold Pool and closed an hour early-some 3rd party websites show a hot tub that is boarded up--i was told the hotel is not responsible for what they post--what? when something breaks/gone you need to tell your advertisers
The arcade was a financial rip off--most games broken (coins stuck in slot), the claw- the prizes were so tightly packed that no one could win, the game with lightbulbs--we won so many times and got nothing for the win.
EVERY vending machine that had water was broken-took money and gave nothng--Kuerig coffee was available but no cups or cream etc
The room427 was facing a burnt out grass area with broken doors windows and siding lying unprofessionally on a trailer, and the UNBELIVABLE part was the window opened, no lock, no screen, 2 floors up--I have a child that sleep walks!
The beds were FUTONS!- pull out couch comfortable.
No fan in bathroom--gross and shower curtain was so used and did not fit rounded rod..water got all over bathroom floor during shower.
We were given a map with a mini golf section that does not exist.
I did speak to the front desk on the evening of our stay and was told they are not responsibloe for what a third party puts on website (what?- allow false advertising!) and all the other issues with vending games etc is a outside comapny and cannot help--i was told to go to CVS at 11pm at night for water?
We traveled 2 hours for junk hotel/service! ;(

The rooms were filthy, walls dirty, bathroom had soap scum, pull out couch was stained and had holes bed linens stained are room was supposed to have a balcony and did not have one.

The entrance area was filled with weeds and the outside structure was in disrepair. It appeared the outside area was neglected for an extended period of time. The room was musty and not clean, small cobwebs in the corner of the ceiling. Was on the second floor and the balcony was wooden, rotting and appeared unsafe. The staff reported that they were undergoing renovations, but I don’t know if that is feasible for what needs to be done

This hotel has not had a weed pulled in a year. No outside maintenance at all! The outside windows are completely falling apart. They haven’t seen putty or paint in many years. It is shameful. You advertise there is food and there is NOTHING!! I want a refund!! It is awful!

The hotel was really rustic, lake was beautiful for fishing and a little picnic. It’s nice for a little getaway, the location was awesome, it had a ton of good places to eat close by. I am giving 5 stars because of how nice staff were to us, would definitely come back. Don’t believe all the bad reviews, this place is indeed a little older than hotels but it has a nice charm to it.
