A beautiful boutique hotel. The staff is very attentive and the rooms are lovely. I enjoyed my balcony, and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was also very good. There are several good restaurants nearby, though it's further than other hotels from the popular tourist destinations. This is not a good hotel for people with limited mobility. My room was at the top of a narrow, winding staircase. However, the staff were happy to carry my suitcase up and down it. The sidewalks in the surrounding neighborhood are also rough and uneven. Overall, a great experience.

My initial impression after a few minute uphill walk and climb up a spiral staircase wasn’t great, but this place got better every day. It’s family run, charming and quirky. Pretty good location. Maybe not for everyone but I recommend it.

It was an absolute delight to stay in Hotel British House. It is a hotel with character and attention to aesthetic detail, yet also highly practical and immaculately clean. The room was spacious, well furnished, and had everything I needed and more. I think it had more sockets than my London flat has; it even had one on the balcony. There was a fridge with a small freezer and even an ironing board. The internet worked well, as did the AC. The breakfast was substantial, fresh and delicious.The staff were extremely friendly, polite and helpful. The hotel is located in a wonderful neighbourhood with many small artistic boutiques, shops and cafes. It is very easy to walk to the old town and other cultural attractions, including Tbilisi's numerous beautiful parks. Public transport is also very close. I look forward to returning to Tbilisi and staying here again.

Sweet, quirky hotel in central Tbilisi

Generally very positive experience. Not perfect for my stay (business visit where I wanted low friction), but overall excellent - please read on.
Pros: Very welcoming service. Spacious rooms - mine had great light too. Large windows but well soundproofed from the street. Absolutely spotless. Decent wifi (although I didn't do a lot of streaming or other high-volume uses). Cute little outdoor space with lovely greenery. Thoughtful, quirky, traditional wooden furniture and decor. Generous breakfast with lots of eggs, little pancakes, jam, bread, cheese, ham/salami, and good coffee.

Cons: The decor felt a little old-fashioned to me, although the furniture and finishings (e.g. tile, walls, and carpets) were generally in very good condition.
- There are a lot of stairs, some of them fairly steep. I was fine, but if you're older and have limited mobility, or some other physical disability, this may not be the place for you.
- This will really be a tiny thing or totally irrelevant for most, but I didn't love it: Because it's more of a traditional hotel/B&B, I had a key on a large keychain (to help me avoid losing it, which is always a real possibility with me!) - this was less convenient to carry around than a card. I could have left it at the desk and I'm sure that would have been fine and easy, but I strongly prefer to keep my key.
Overall, very good - way more character than most highly rated hotels.

The only drawback was that it did not have an elevator. And moving the luggage was difficult. And for me, who had a problem with knee arthritis, the stairs were annoying.

I felt like this was a home that opened its doors to us. We arrived at 6am on a quiet Sunday and went there to see if we could leave our luggage until afternoon checkin; we were welcomed in, invited to one of many ample breakfasts, then shown to our room!
The rooms are large and well furnished and the beds felt like heaven. The bathrooms were larger than ours at home!
The staff was there constantly available searching to make our every desire fulfilled. We had long conversations with all of them and became fond of them all.
The location was quiet and close to the main avenue thru the city; it was easy to walk or they would arrange cars for us.
The atmosphere was quaint and the furniture beautiful.
I hope to return soon and stay even longer. The level of comfort and the beauty of Georgia made it hard to leave; we extended our stay by several days. We had to move rooms at that point but each room was as lovely as the others though unique and quaint.

I will be Highly recommending this delightful hotel to all my family and friends!!!!!

We booked at the last minute after our plans changed on the strength of great reviews and were so happy to receive wonderful hospitality by all of the staff. We were upgraded to a lovely spacious room straight away. It was like staying in the home of a favourite aunt as a special guest, the furnishings are a step back in time, but comfortable, clean, quiet and we slept so well we stayed for 4 nights. Breakfast was delicious, typical Georgian generosity, served at any time that suits the guest.
It’s a walk uphill from the city, but worth it, or take a taxi. Great value.

A Hotel in Tbilisi we strongly recommend

A VERY good hotel in an old building on fringes of the Old City of Tbilisi. The staff was VERY helpful, courteous, and friendly. During all 24 hours there was someone on shift to open a door, etc. Our room was at the ground level with windows looking out to the street. Still, it was very quiet and we did not have a problem with having rest. Breakfasts were served on OUR OWN SCHEDULE - an amazing thing we have not seen before. And they were really filling, so closer to the end of our 7-day stay, we started to cut on food - even if it was very good and freshly cooked and abundant. WiFi worked flawlessly and the speed of accessing the Internet was VERY good.
The room provided us for lots of space. The Bathroom had a full-size tub with a shower (hot water was VERY reliable and with good pressure). Bathrobes and slippers were provided too. There was a safe in the wardrobe.
The hotel's location allowed easy access to the Tbilisi subway system (a 10-min walk to the Shota Rustaveli station), as well as to the Tbilisi Funicular (a walking distance, actually). If you do not mind to walk, it's a 20 minute walk to the Liberty Square (beginning of the Old City).
We easily recommend the hotel to families, business people, etc. - a VERY good place to stay in Tbilisi.

British House has rooms in main building as well as in apartments, which are not far from main building (100 meters away nearly). I stayed few times in main building rooms and in apartments as well.
my last stay was in apartment which was located at Gogebashvili street 44, at 6th floor. There are two bed rooms actually - one with king-bed, sofa and kitchen equipment (gas stove, microwave, cattle, etc), and the second, smaller room equipped with one single bed and desc. This is actually very comfortable for families. Rooms maintained clean and all equipment in good safe order. I had two nights very good sleep - beds are comfortable and it is normally very quite.
I found only the shower room little small and shower cabin is not well designed as could be, so when taking shower impossible to avoid spills outside of the cabin. But it's not a big issue, as there are foot towels available.
There is main gate to the apartment with combination lock. For breakfast one need to to walk down the street for 100 meters to the main building of hotel. Breakfast time is up to guest, just needed to inform reception what time you want to have it.
There are markets and eating places all around and in walking distance. I cannot find anything to complain on, maybe except the shower cabin))

The British House is a boutique B&B located in a quiet, residential neighborhood of Tbilisi. The staff was extremely accommodating - for example, my wife and I arrived at the hotel at 5 AM and they allowed us to do an early check-in and also invited us for breakfast. Everyone was very friendly and courteous.

Loved this hotel .The location of the hotel is very convenient , less

Hotel ''British House'' is a truly charming boutique hotel, that is very centrally located and will provide you with elegantly decorated room. I have stayed at several similar hotels in Tbilisi and Hotel British House was by far the best. The room was nice and the staff was outstanding. Before I arrived from the USA I had questions about transportation from the airport and they arranged all of that for me and were very responsive to other questions as well. I met three different staff members while I was there an all of them were courtfsous and professional. All spoke english very well. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Two nights in homelike hotel

was staying in Junior suit at second floor, with windows to street. Had good sleep both nights,never felt any excess noise. I have never stayed in hotel like this - it's homelike, with very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is personally served and the variety of of food is satisfactory, have to outline - khachapuri was nice. They will serve you with breakfast any time you like, they will ask you what time you want it. Room was clean and comfortable. Remember once I came back from town, was a bit tied - they offered me coffee for no cost and then gave me the bottle of nice Georgian wine as well.
It might seem too far from old town, but taxi in Tbilisi is not expensive at all - I visited few places, but each time taxi cost never exceeded the 10 - 15 lari (4 - 6 USD).
Definitely will stay in British House again next time

You could not fault the staff here. So helpful and welcoming. Probably the most helpful staff I've ever meto anywhere in the world. Our TV did not work and they tried so hard to fix it for us. However the description of the hotel on Expedia was misleading. It is not a 4* boutique hotel. It is a B&B or guesthouse. The style is old fashioned and cluttered with lots of cheap bric a brac, even on the breakfast tables. If you like this style you will love this place. The bathroom needed some attention, big gaps round the shower bath so the floor was soaking. Also the quilts were far too small for the bed, never mind with 2 people in the bed. You will need to ask for an extra quilt. Breakfast quality poor but again,the service was outstanding.

Home away from home for sure!

I have to say that initially I was sceptical about the reviews about this hotel, it is not the usual type I would book for business trips. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody looking for a comfortable 'home away from home'. I normally have trouble finding hotel that would accommodation for my dietary needs, but this hotel happily made me a separate breakfast each morning to suit my needs. They even let me check out hours later than the check out time scheduled with no charge. Amazing service, they helped me with booking taxis.

This hotel is a small, family run bed and breakfast style property. The staff members are very welcoming and always ready to help however they can. The rooms are very comfortable and the hotel beautifully decorated with lots of indoor plants. The hotel is near Rustaveli Avenue and very close to lots of great (hipster) restaurants.

about the area and places to eat. The room I stayed in was very
spacious and comfortable and the hotel had beautiful decorations in

This is a small 8 room hotel with very comfortable rooms, and tastefully furnished. The breakfast was served individually by an attentive and delightful lady and a good variety was offered.
It's located in a fairly local area with small stores and great cafes nearby. It's about a 15 minute downhill walk to the Metro. The hotel is up a hill, so it can be a bit of a drag at the end of the day if you don't want to use a taxi. The outstanding feature of the hotel is the excellent young staff, who were exceptional....efficient, very friendly, helpful with travel arrangements, interested in your day. They made my stay one of the best!

Why no shower curtains?

I'll never stay here again as the bathtub had no shower curtain so be prepared to use the towels to dry the floor. There is also a lot of \"clutter\" in terms of decor: plants everywhere that actually impede your walk to your room. The duvet on the bed was too small for the bed and too small for two people.

I don't understand why items in the mini-bar are priced in Euros rather than Georgian Lari.

Customer service and breakfast, on the other hand, are excellent.

We had a such a great time here! There was a bit of confusion on what type room we reserved but the front desk were so kind in handling it.

Location: Great! It is a bit of a walk up a hill to get there but it felt good:) There's a few different restaurants near by to eat at. It's a cute little neighborhood street but yet still convenient to get to the main street and areas.

Staff: So friendly!! Not to mention that breakfast may honestly be the most memorable hotel breakfast ever:) It feels like you grandma is there cooking for you and making sure you're full and happy:)

The hotel is not easy to find. It is not easy access to the Rustaveli street. The furniture is old. It has a character to it that is not for everyone taste, especially mine. There are way too many plants for that little place.

Similar to staying at a really nice friend's house

This hotel is a true gem in the heart of the old city. I found this based on its high reviews on Expedia. I sorted by most popular and highest rated. I then proceeded to carefully read each review for its best and worst attributes. This happened to pop up and be within my price range. I had several pre-requisites. The hotel must have staff that speak English, since I myself do not speak Georgian. The location must be in the capital, as I had to attend an important event there. This location was very desirable (although somewhat difficult to get to for regular taxis if you do not speak Georgian. This however is easily fixed if you bring a print out of the address in Georgian with you). The hotel can even arrange a taxi to pick you up from the airport at any hour. Most flights come into Georgia at the same time, which is 3 am. The photos had to look reasonable and comfortable. There had to be a high cleanliness rating. This hotel fit the bill in spades.

Beautiful Tbilisi

First I like to say thanks to everyone associated with this hotel. They went above and beyond on everything. Even when I had a issue with my credit card at the time of payment, they understood. This hotel was great it pick me up and took me to airport (fee). The breakfast was great and plentiful. the room was nice and the shower was good. The free wifi works good too. It's in a quiet neighbor, but still not far from restaurants, pubs and sights. Again I like to thank everyone

We loved British House, as we were made to feel so welcome from the minute we walked in the door & were offered coffee, juice, home made cakes & biscuits. Owners really went out of their way to look after us, by making personal calls, liaising with car hire company, recommending restaurants, etc etc. We had to leave at 3.20am but were not made to feel at all as if we were inconveniencing them. Great service in a homey boutique hotel

The service was personal and excellent. The only drawback to this hotel for those looking for a quaint, homey experience would be the location. It is a little inconvenient for those who prefer to walk the city from the hotel as it is a bit outside and uphill. Other than that, an excellent choice, and taxis are cheap and plentiful anyway.

Great Option in Tbilisi

Very pleasant stay -- rooms were some of the warmest in our travels in Georgia (we visited in December). Our room was perfect for a sleeping infant because of the separate sitting room. Very amiable staff prepared us breakfast even though we arrived at 1:30 p.m.!

Excellent Service, perfect room

Makes you realise why you want to stay away from chain hotels!!! the charm and helpfulness of the staff was just incredible, they literally could not have done more to help with our stay. breakfast perfect and freshly home cooked, and room beautifully decorated in a uniquely Georgian style.
