Location is why you’re here.
My issue is with the fire doors, all the doors actually, every single room door & the several fire doors down the length of the hall ALL squeaked and slammed!
Greasing a squeaky hinge has got to be one of the easiest fixes in the world- but when I mentioned it to front desk staff she basically rolled her eyes at me as if to say I was asking too much.
The slamming is another issue that would take more work but it’s not impossible to fix and is pretty standard in most hotels.
I really wanted to like the restaurant more, had I not been practically starving I would have sent my beef pie back because it was soooooo salty.
The ONE staff member did a pretty good job handling the 5-6 tables on his own, but jeeez, get one more employee in there, add less salt in the food and they could probably raise their dismal 3-stars (on Google) problem.

Old building, but only partially modernised. Lift doesn't go all the way to second floor bedrooms - two fire doors and about ten steps up! Breakfast fairly standard. Staff pleasant. Nice river views.

Great location. Paid parking is close. Most of the old building looks refreshed, but some hall carpeting looks tattered. Rooms and bathrooms were spacious. Breakfast buffet was hearty, but the coffee offered was so bad we bought instant in town and made our own at breakfast. Staff are very nice. There is a bar on-site, but we didn't use it.

The hotel was super close to shopping and has a wonderful view of Inverness Castle, it is also right on the river. Needs some updating and fixing. Parking is down the street a block at the Cathedral where you can pay for 24 hour parking.

Very dirty, smelly, cold, old, and dark. While it looks nice from the outside, the inside is disappointing. In the morning as we were leaving, we saw staff handling clean sheets that had been left directly on the floor, without any bags. The location is good, but unfortunately, that’s the only positive.

First of all I think the reviews are fake . The hotel was filthy.
We traveled for 9.5 hours really looking forward to this lovely hotel we had booked. Terrible check in went to the room nothing like what was shown.
Carpet had not been hoovered there was hair fluff bits of stick . The bathroom had hair in the shower and toe nail clipping on the dirty Lino.
It was a king size bed with a double quilt on it .
Went down stairs and said I wasn’t happy with the room the girl at reception said she will go and clean it . So we went out for 1 hour came back and she said could not find a quilt that would fit. I went and checked the room she had cleaned the carpet but there was more hair in the shower than before I went and asked for the manager the girl said why I’ve cleaned your room.
Manager came down asked me to sit outside in the corridor and tell him the problem so I did he never said a word apart from il see what I can do .a bit later he asked me would il like to see a different room so I did it was much better.
But the hotel is so run down the hall carpets need to be hoovered the dust everywhere is unbelievable. We had paid for breakfast I asked for a refund because I didn’t feel it was safe to eat there . We given a free drink as an apology.
For the 5 days we were there my room was not cleaned once I had to go to reception and ask for the bins to emptied and more milk and coffee
Ask for fresh towels not 1 day did they come in room to make the bed even.

We will be contacting the hotel directly. Starting with the positives, the location is excellent - step out the door and you are directly in the city centre.

I simply cannot comment on the staff - we only met them at check-in. They were not particularly friendly, very much “do it yourself” type of attitude. They weren’t rude by any stretch, but there wasn’t a sense of willingness to help.

The building is very old and outdated, which could add to the charm but when you have bobbling carpets, sloping floors and peeling/ stained photographs, you see that no effort has been made to tap into this.

Now we come to the cleanliness of the property. Worst I’ve ever seen. I’m only glad that we didn’t bring our children here as my daughter has a dust allergy. From the fire place in the foyer to the desk in the room, to the ridges in the bathroom - there was thick dust! It was disgusting. Some of the towels had stains which is unnecessary! On the first night, someone had clearly been eating a Sandwick in the foyer and had left crumbs on the desk. Those remained there until we checked out at 11pm on two days later. There was a general lack of attention to detail of the most basic forms across the board. When we checked out, there was no member of staff to be seen.

The bed was comfy enough and the bedding clean, but that’s where it ended.

I can safely say that we will not be staying in this property again but hope management take the feedback on board for future guests.

Loved the classical style of this fine Victorian era hotel. We enjoyed the en suite room with a very comfortable bed and fantastic view of the castle and river.
The photographs of people and days long gone that lined the hallways and stairways were very interesting indeed and definitely added to the essence of the hotel.
Staff were great, very helpful and friendly. Lots to like at this well located hotel. Definitely would recommend for a comfortable stay in Inverness.

The hotel is very well located and the staff were very nice. Allowed me to leave my bags before and after check in. The room was alright, but it was freezing the entire night and nothing I did to the thermostat would change it. I also couldn’t get the shower to heat up, but didn’t have time to ask someone to fix it.

We had an amazing stay at this hotel! Staff are fantastic, Manager upgraded us to the suite, we felt very lucky and fortunate! Spotless rooms and very comfortable, tasty buffet breakfast. Excellent location in front of the river and newly upgraded Inverness Castle and surrounded by shops, restaurants and bars. The best place we have ever stayed in Inverness!!! Thank you!!! <3

Room was a very good size since we were 2 adults and a toddler. Staff were very helpful and courteous. Bathroom needs a bit of general maintenance. Housekeeping was lacking: we were 3 in the room but only given 2 towels. When we asked for the room to be made up, the bed was not made and no vacuum was passed so floor was left with crumbs. The used mugs in the room were not washed for the entire stay.

The room was very tired looking and cold. There was only a very thin Duvet on the bed which didn’t even go down the sides.
I was there for 10 days and on the 5th day I had to ask for my sheets to be changed. I also asked for an extra blanket or something and the receptionist organised for an extra heater to go in my room. Which did help.
Overall they didn’t do the “ Nice / Finer details “ you would expect from a well known inner city Hotel.

The architect of this building is amazing. Beautiful building and amazing view of the river.
It was very convenient for walking for everything.. such as all kinds restaurants, pubs, clothes, souvenirs, and even a mall.

We asked for an extra blanket for 2 days being told we could not have one because the manager was not here to open the room with the blankets. ??
So on the 3rd evening we asked yet again, then waited at the receptionist desk to actually receive one. Older televisions, remote had tape on it and did not being too the room tv.

They happily moved us to a room on the 2nd floor where the WiFi works perfectly! The hotel is right by the river Ness and couldn’t be any more centrally located. We’re very happy with our choice! This hotel was perfectly comfortable and clean, nothing to rave about but it was good value for money, and you can park for a reasonable price at the church just down the street. There is a milkman cafe right next to the hotel where we enjoyed a lovely breakfast looking out at the river ness and Inverness castle. It is a great location just a few steps away from the main shopping area

The check-in was okay but we did not feel as if we were being welcomed, it was simply a clinical check-in. When we entered our room which was described as an executive double room with river view, it was really chilly. There were two electric heaters in the room and only one, the smallest, worked. We had to borrow a portable heater from reception to take the chill of the room. The river view was impeded by the constant condensation on the single glazed windows. McNab's bar was very uninviting so we were only in it for a brief time. The breakfast was a self service buffet, which I would rate as good. There were very few staff members around for us to single out anyone for merit. Any contact we had with staff members was limited. The hotel does not have parking but there is parking nearby for £5.00 per day. The hotel was adequate for the purpose of our visit but I would not rush back.

We had a very large and comfortable room for our stay in Inverness. Just an fyi there was no parking on site but 350 meters away was a car park you are guided to use. Easy and not too expensive for the overnight. The location is excellent for walking around Inverness’ downtown core

The room was clean but the bathroom door could not be shut…not very appropriate for 3 in a room… neither could we shower for that reason and also were instructed to keep door shut to prevent setting off the fire alarm. Breakfast was okay on our first morning, but on Saturday morning at 9.10 am there was no acceptable cooked food on display..just 1 sausage, 2 bits of dried up bacon, beans dried up, …no fried eggs, overcooked and dried up scrambled eggs. No fresh fruit either. We had no time to linger waiting for replacements as many others were doing. Very nice reception staff.

Don’t go near this place!

Breakfast used very low quality ingredients, was luke warm and not fresh. We couldn’t eat it, so it was a waste of money. The staff were rude and unprofessional. In one of our rooms there was an explosion one of the electrical outlets, and all the socket in the room blew. I went to tell the receptionist and he shrug his shoulders and said ‘what can I do, there are no other rooms left, if it’s not still sparking then I’m sure it will be okay. So we had no power. I told him he just needed to flip the fuse and he said ‘if I start touching them, other people might not have power. Rooms were very dated, run down and not clean. The hot water took about 20 minutes of running before it went hot. Shower gel/ shampoo and hand wash were all the same, very low quality products. Rooms were dark and dingy and smelt like cooking. Other areas of the hotel were a mess. It’s a real shame because with a bit of care this hotel could have real potential because of its historical significance. Staff need to be retrained in the basics of hospitality, and the electrics need looked at too, as this place is really not safe! It is truly the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at.

A very convenient location next to the river. Close to everything. Charming Victorian hotel. Carpets need to be replaced, but generally the place was in good shape. Clean. Breakfast was classic buffet, nothing exciting, but plenty to eat and everything tasted fine. Dinner was pretty good. However, there are plenty of restaurants and pubs in the area, so I am guessing many guests are not having dinner at the hotel. The bar (in the restaurant) had a few draft beers and plenty of liquor choices. The staff members were all VERY friendly and helpful.

The property is in a solid location right on the River Ness with the River walking paths right outside the front doors. For those riding the train. For those riding the train like we were into town, it isn't too bad of a walk from the station. Breakfast was good with a decent buffet selection and service was good from staff.

A notable observation, not really a complaint, is that it is an older building so lots of creaky wood floors and our window would rattle a bit with strong winds. The layout will also have you going up stairs and multiple swinging doors as the elevator isn't always level with the room hallways. But there is definitely a charm to the antiquity of the building.

Enjoyed the old world feel of a historic building with updated modern conveniences. Very clean room with comfortable king bed and a wonderful view overlooking the Ness River. Modern, good sized bathroom. Has a lift (elevator) if you’re needing it, but easy stairs up to our first floor room. Staff at the desk were very personable and seemingly happy to accommodate any of our requests. No issues at all. Enjoyed the convenient onsite full bar and restaurant. Convenient to downtown and restaurants but not noisy at night. Highly recommended. Looking forward to our next stay there.

We intentionally rented a room in a historic hotel for the experience of it, unfortunately, the beds felt like they were from the original construction. The beds were extremely hard to the point where it looked like the floor would be softer.
In addition, there was no air conditioning or fan in the room. While we opened the window, we had to pull the heavy drapes to block the exterior lights. This defeated the purpose of opening windows.

Tired hotel, limps along by catering to tour group

Needs so very necessary renovations. I had a space heater in my room, which I used when there for 2 nights 2 week ago. Apparently the heating system doesn't work. I booked because it had a restaurant on site. The first night it was closed for everyone but a tour group. The second night it was just closed. You could eat in the bar, but service was non-existent. There is a grocery store around the corner so I had a sandwich, second night I got a pizza , which was good from a place opposite the grocery. Not what I envisioned I would be doing after long days in the Highlands.

The blanket had mold spots on them. It’s an old building so creaks and water spots are to be expected. When I called down for new sheets the front desk got busy checking people in so I went down to get them. She changed the sheet over the comforter but did it on the floor. Would have just taken them up to the room and done it ourselves. Location was fine. Staff was friendly but didn’t seem to care one way or another
