I booked a standard room without reading many reviews, assuming it would be a nice hotel. Unfortunately, the room we were given had a single window that faced a storage area. There was no view at all, and we never saw sunlight or proper daylight during our stay.
I really disliked the room right when I entered it and requested an upgrade for the eight nights we were scheduled to stay, but I was told there were no rooms available.
Paying over $2,000, I expected much more from this hotel. That said, most of the staff were friendly and helpful, which I appreciated.
In the future, I will make sure to call the hotel directly before booking to confirm exactly what type of room I’m getting.

We arrived before noon from our early flight. Check in time was 15:00 but the excellent Raulo found us a room and had us checked in quickly, cheerfully and efficiently.
The superior double was on floor 13 and we had an outstanding view over Copacabana.
We didn’t use the roof top pool - it wasn’t exactly crystal clear!
I wish I could remember the name of the young man (J——) who arranged our taxi to the cruise terminal. He’s a great advert for the hotel.

Extremely helpful staff, many people around to help. Room was clean and felt like a five star hotel with in room amenities. Rooftop was lovely with a nice pool, steam room, and food and drinks that were good and well priced. I would stay here again.

There were also some inconsistencies with bathroom amenities. Improving coordination and service at the front desk would further elevate an already excellent hotel experience.

We stayed here for a Family Christmas Holiday vacation (visiting from the United States) and had an incredible stay -- the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly and even spoke great English which was really helpful for us giving us clear recommendations for safety (like walking on the beach side/promenade), food recommendations, or any questions we had that came up the staff was quick to help and so kind. The food was amazing, and the location was perfect, being right outside the beach -- having the umbrellas and chairs for free was a plus. We did get to the beach too late (around noon) one day, and they were out of umbrellas/chairs so I definitely recommend getting out earlier! We were able to enjoy the pool this day but felt like that tip would be helpful for others who visit here.

Never made it to the hotel due to increased crime and massive killings that occurred just prior to our trip, the hotel denied any reimbursement for our prepaid stay, when I made the reservation I knew it was non refundable but I tough maybe they will consider the situation and reasons why we decided not to go to Rio but they did not , they denied or request for a refund, next time I will stick to American hotel brands as they are more sensitive to changing situations and will work with you so that you don’t lose your money.

We stayed here 2 years ago and we had a wonderful time . This time, it did not feel as good . The staff generally appeared less attentive - reception staff very rarely acknowledged or greeted you when you came into reception lobby, the rooftop bar staff were again not very attentive and at times even disgruntled to be serving us .
Which is a shame as the hotel has the potential to be something amazing .
