We booked thinking this was 2 star but it’s definitely a 3 star hotel so we were pleasantly surprised. The ‘spa’ bit is €40/hr private hire and downstairs, no windows so we gave that a skip. The room with balcony and sea view was lovely with a fridge but no kettle. We didn’t partake in €12 pp breakfast. There is a bar/restaurant on 5th floor with sea views and an amazing astroturf roof terrace on 6th floor with lots of seating -again a really lovely surprise. All in all I couldn’t work out why the Trip advisor reviews were so bad, we had a lovely time!

Great location hotel

Good value and location is great lots of bars and restaurants around. The old town is walkable distance. The rooftop bar within the hotel is nice. The rooms are spacious but not so clean. The walls super thin, could hear people in other room talking and having shower.

The hotel was very nice, the breakfast room and bar on the roof was fantastic and very reasonably priced.

Families beware however, the swimming pool was not included and we were told it was 40euro each to have a swim which had to be booked. I read other reviews that said about hiring robes etc, which was a few euros so we expected that.

As a couple wanting a spa retreat I guess 40eu isn't too bad for a relaxing afternoon, but not for the kids to have a bit of a swim.

Great stay! Beautiful views of the historic part of Alghero while having coffee for breakfast. The check-in was simple and quick. The room was clean and cool, and the pillows were the best we slept on so far at our various stays in Sardinia hotels during this road trip.

The hotel is a very short wslk from the Old Town with all its restaurants and other attractions.
Our room on the 5th gloor had a wonderful view over the neighbouring buildings out to sea.
The breakast was good.
There was some building work going on in the hotel when we were there in esrly June but this did not disturb us.

OK but don’t expect much more!

- Room given had 1 bed had booked for 2.
- No signs on floors means you have to walk all corridor to find your room.
- Passport wasn’t given back when we went for dinner (as per usual) and so next day we left without them -ok we forgot to ask for the but still... thank god they called us before we’d driven too far on our way to airport.

It’s not THAT HARD to deliver BASIC service!!!

It was seriously so nice. The perfect mix of comfort and modern! The front desk clerk (male guy with glasses) was super nice and went above and beyond to make sure we were accommodated properly. We usually don’t buy breakfast at hotels but this one was well worth it. Large selection of fresh juices and even had bacon! The ladies working at the breakfast counter were sweet! Book this hotel!

La Margherita is brilliantly located around the corner from the historic center city-which is magical at night. It is also close to lovely beaches. We arrived before checkin, but our room was already available. We had to leave at 5am the next morning and the front desk arranged a cab for us. The hotel has a wonderful c.1950s-60s air about it. It has been kept in good order and was quite comfortable. The staff were lovely and extremely helpful. We didn't have time to use the spa facilities downstairs - but they looked lovely as well.

Firstly let me say the staff are brilliant and hiw they keep a smile on their face is beyond me. This property has had no money spent on it in a long while. The rooms are a throw back to the 1960s, with furniture ive seen on a rubbish tip. The sun terrace that looks so nice on the photos and is advertised in the hotel reception is derelict. The spa area on the basement has a very weird smell and the pool water looks like in needs draining and cleaning. Breakfast was like a holiday camp with bad tasting coffee, and a watered down orange juice.

The room was a family room and spacious with 2 balconies. There were mosquitos in the room, not the hotels fault but if staying here it would be better to keep the balcony doors closed. The room had not been cleaned properly before we arrived, there was a sock under the bed and underwear in the bedside drawer! The breakfast is continental and OK. The swimming pool is lovely but it was not on the expedia reservation that it costs 4 euro per person to hire a robe, slippers and hat. Without these you cannot use it. This was an extra 16 for a family with 2 kids which is excessive when the room was already 95 euro.

One Night in Alghero

Location, room cleanliness and welcome (check-in) were fine. The only problem I had was checking out. Since I had to leave early the next morning I wanted to pay my bill the night before with a credit card. The gentleman at the desk wouldn't let me use my credit card so I had to pay in cash. Also, he never gave me a receipt.

What Spa?

I pre-paid extra for pool, jacuzzi, solarium and gym but all were under maintenance when I checked in. I didn't see anyone working on these areas for 3 days that I was there. Hotel refused to reimburse me the difference.

Stayed 5 days in this hotel wasn't overly impressed with certain things . It really did not look like the photos that were advertised firstly . The spa facilities are not free just the pool which you have to pay 4 Euros for bathrobe etc .
The room I stayed in the bed was extremely uncomfortable and was two singles pushed together and one of the mattresses was so bad my back was killing me .
There were ants all over the bathroom and the shower was rusted . I was bitten by bugs the whole week I was there .

The floor I stayed on smelt like chlorine from the pool was making me sick .

The only thing good about this hotel was the breakfast , location was not too far out of the old town and two of the receptionists that could speak English were very helpful but I would not recommend it .

On arrival we didn't get a warm welcome from reception staff. Information was only provided on things to do if you asked.

Not all staff spoke English so this was an issue for us when we tried to communicate but got by!

Breakfast was same everyday and gym section was pretty awful and should be improved with more updated equipment.

Our fridge was quite dirty from inside. Safe wouldn't lock or open easily. Air conditioning was blowing cold air even after it was switched off. Post office was directly opposite and staff could probably look directly in our room!

This could have been so much better.

The staff were generally indifferent, the bed not particularly comfortable, and there was neither anything to drink in the mini fridge nor coffee or other drinks available other than at breakfast. So if in need of coffee after a siesta, you have to go out. Luckily there are great cafes in Alghero! Shame, because the location and the roof terrace and breakfast were all good.

Really disappointed, breakfast very poor limited choice,stale bread, blankets on bed so old and tatty I would not even use for my dog! Shower screen rusty, bunk beds old and rickety my husband would not allow my daughter to sleep on top bunk as he did not think she would be safe! Top terrace, solarium closed for renovation but we were not advised, Spa nice small pool and you have to pay for anything else including €4 to hire a bathrobe slippers and a shower cap which you have to wear to swim, when we hot our they were wet , been washed but not dried properly before putting in plastic bag also each time had to ask for the lights etc to be switched on as no one else using it as very few people staying at the hotel.

Amazing SPA

The hotel has an amazing SPA. It was the reason I booked the room. The SPA is built inside the original old city wall. Everything in the SPA is new and well kepped. It was absolutely worth it to stay there.

I'm really happy that me and my friend we've chosen hotel Margherita. It was an amazing, relaxing time for us. We had an amazing sea view from our balcony, roof terrace just above our room, SPA for a daily use and really nice range of breakfast. Hotel is easy to find, 5min walking distance from the main bus station, close to the old town. All the crew from that hotel was really kind, respectful and super helpful :) So happy with the way they come to a customer. We will definitely go there again if we go to Alghero :)

Best town ever. Check it out. Margarita has a nice spa and access to a nice beach which is a good 2km walk from the hotel. Just eat two croissants for breakfast and you should be ok. They will charge you €4 for bathrobes to enter the spa. Check it out.

A very bad experience, never again.

The hotel photo's on Expedia are quite misleading and there no bedroom photo's which I should have suspected when selecting the place. I was expecting a modern hotel with reasonable facilities.

Check in
There is no bay at the door that would allow someone to unload baggage. You need to be lucky on-street.
The surprise expressed by receptionist when I asked to use the Hotel's parking facility was born out bythe condition of the garage which appears to be a storage facility for all sorts of old hotel items. It was filthy and unmaintained.

Rooms
The triple rooms we ordered were ok , shower worked fine etc.. Furnishing looked like it happened in the 1950's and the beds were very hard. The third bed looked like something from a holiday home not what I'd expect in a Hotel. The aircon was efficient and modern.

Service.
The night porter was a very pleasant elderly man.
The breakfast is generous and on the roof terrace which is nice.

Other
We had a visitation in the night from a cockroach which was very disturbing for my wife. When I mentioned it the next morning at reception the reaction was a shrug (no apology) and a free nights parking.
My wife also saw another cockroach wander across the reception area the next morning while she was waiting to speak to the receptionist. In my home country an insect infestation like this would close a Hotel down.

This Hotel is not of a standard I'd expect from Expedia.

Great Location!

This hotel was in a perfect location, walking distance to the City Center, where there are lots of restaurants and shops. The rooftop breakfast was a delight, with standard European continental food. Our room was larger than expected. The only downsides were the location of our room did not have great wifi reception and the mattress was fairly hard. Regardless, we would stay at the hotel again!

Not much to say about this hotel. Beds are very uncomfortable and have never had so many lumps in a pillow before. The window shutter was stuck and the air con was so noisy I slept with the tiny window open. This unfortunately led to me being bitten by a spider on my chest and I became vigilantly ill for 2 days. Not a good memory of this place. I wouldn't stay again.

Great place to stay!

We were very pleased with the hotel. The room was very comfortable & clean, the neighbourhood was very quiet, and the breakfast, which was served on the 5th floor terrace, was very good. The hotel is ideally located very close to the historic centre of Alghero and only a short walk from the central market in Via Sassari. The service was also very good - the reception desk staff were extremely helpful. Upon arrival, they recommended a restaurant just around the corner from the hotel where we ate lunch. The food was so good, we went back for lunch again the following day. We would have no hesitation about staying at this hotel again.

LOVED the hot tub (they call it a Jacuzzi--suppose it's the Italian reference) and small pool (same water temperature; amazingly warm) in the basement of the hotel, with beautiful stone and brick work surrounding you). There is also a \"fountain\" and jet that comes from the side of the pool for a great hydro massage of the neck and upper back (don't miss the buttons that are under water in both areas). Room was spacious enough, though the bed, as is usual in Italy, was a bit stiff. Had to pay 4 Euro each for robes/slippers for pool access. There is also a Turkish bath (at extra cost of $15 per person or $25 for 2). The front desk staff were very kind and helpful. Only criticism was the place could use some updating (carpeting worn, and decor dated), but quite charming, in an excellent location not far from the marina area, though not waterfront. Breakfasts were fine though did not include eggs. The view from the 4th floor balcony faced the bay, and was quite nice. Ask for this view if you can. Everything was quite clean and they have daily linen change and bed make up.

First time to Sardegna

The best part of the hotel are the front desk people who were helpful and charming. The hotel lobby has that old world charm but it is not a sleek, brand new boutique hotel but made me smile when I walked in. The view from the room was fabulous, the bathroom was clean and fairly large except for the typical too small European shower. Breakfast on the rooftop was spectacularly beautiful and plentiful. The location is four blocks from the sea and drops you off right in the old part of the city. It is about 15 minutes from the airport by a 25 Euro cab ride. Some people take the public bus but our suitcases were too unwieldy. I might opt for a B&B well outside of town and rent a car if I went again, but would be happy to stay there again - I would not look for another in-town hotel.

We stayed at La Margherita in July.
Great location with sea view from the roof terrace which is used during breakfast time. The promenade is only 3 minutes walk away as is the historic centre.
Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Good breakfast with fresh coffee/ hot chocolate and an amazing view set you off to a good start of the day. Rooms are provided with welcome air conditioning as Summer temperatures easily exceed 30 degrees. Wifi access is good and free. Hotel has its own parking.

Parking 10 euros par nuit minuscule notre voiture est rentrée limite si vous avez une voiture plus large ca ne passera pas !
Première nuit de \"sommeil\" isolation pas terrible on entendait le voisin ronfler quand tout a coup des énormes BOOM à partir de 7h impossible de dormir. Complique mais bon il est tres bien placé, le spa privatise pour une heure cetait pas mal malgre le hammam qui ne fonctionnait pas

Il posto è molto bello situato in una posizione strategica vicino al centro ealla passeggiata lungomare. Purtroppo, andando fuori stagione Alghero non offre servizi, ma non è colpa della struttura. Avevamo un aereo molto tardi e in hotel sono stati molto gentili. Ci hanno tenuto i bagagli e ci hanno ospitato per tutta la giornata.. unica pecca la spa, che è molto bella, ma non si capiva bene dalla descrizione della struttura che fosse ad uso esclusivo e quindi a pagamento. Prezzi dei massaggi invece molto buoni. Struttura consigliata.

Conosco l'hotel da almeno 50 anni, pensavo di trovare camere un po' più confortevoli invece il riscaldamento di camera è bagno era affidato ad un climatizzatore, la camera veniva pulita solo su richiesta, ho chiesto uno scaldobagno per il bagno e non è stato fatto nessuno sforzo per aiutarmi il tutto ad un costo che in strutture paritetiche mi avrebbero offerto molto di più.
In breve senza infamia e senza gloria ma non ci tornerò mi dispiace.

Central och väldig prisvärd hotel. Tillgång till parkering för 10euro natten underlättade en hel del. Jättemysig spa men dessvärre var vattnet ljummet och bastut/saunan fungerade inte.

Only 1 night

We only stayed for 1 night to sleep before our flight, its central location was important, the rooms were adequate, the shower in the bathroom was very small and uncomfortable.

La struttura è in via di ristrutturazione. La camera era spaziosa ma gli arredi erano datati e il materasso orribile. Bagno grande e pulito, ben dotato di teli ma privo di ganci nei quali appenderli. La hall è veramente brutta, bella invece la sala colazione recentemente ristrutturata.

Piscine pas dans le prix du sejour.

Hotel avec piscine mais piscine payante meme pour les residents..(30 euros pour 1h)
Résultat : cher pour avoir un hotel normal sans piscine.
Devrait etre précisé sur l'annonce, on serait allées ailleurs.

Vicinissimo al centro storico ed al porto. Buona struttura con ottimi servizi grazie al personale sempre cortese e gentile. Un buon punto di riferimento per un soggiorno ad Alghero. Camera con balconcino silenziosa e spaziosa.

Fint hotel til prisen

Rigtig fint hotel til prisen - dog er SPA ikke inkluderet, så der trækker lidt ned. Men rigtig fine værelser.

Diskotek som nabo mindre godt, men meget centralt ift. by. Lidt langt til stranden, men man kan tage en bus.

A good hotel near the city center. The hotel is under the reconstruction, but it isn't problem. Very good breakfast, in the 5th floor, with beautiful view. You have to pay for the Spa, two people 50 euro per hour, I think, it's very expensive. We didn't try it. The staff is very kind and helpful
