Dog friendly and close to the forest but the hotel feels like it is overdue an upgrade. The bathroom in our room was outdated and not nice. No plug sockets by the bed, even though the bedroom appeared to have been updated. A large tip in the curtains.

Nice hotel opposite the forest

I spent one night at this hotel in a single room. The room was a little dated. I am not a fan of carpets on the floor in hotels - always smells a little dusty.
The room and bathroom were very clean. Staff were very friendly.

I would stay again.

The single room was basic, but it had all the necessary amenities. In the morning I could hear my neighbor showering, but I guess this is part of the package, when you sleep in an old building.
The hotel restaurant is truly amazing, and evens out all the minuses. Also, I loved the Mastbos.

A tired hotel and pretty uncomfy room!

Maybe it depends on the room or amount you pay, but I stayed in a single room - no head board, no TV, an old bed, a tired room.
Heating was off when I went in to the room at 5C outside> Quite a tired hotel.
I looked at breakfast and decided against paying for it. For 15euros you can do a lot better to eat at the restaurant in the forrest, but be careful with fresh orange juice, 4euros for the smallest portion you can imagine.

Nice quiet hotel

Only stayed one night but was very happy ,room was nice if not a bit dated ,but we tend to find that in keeping with the history of the hotel , it had a good shower and a jacuzzi bath ,beds were very comfortable ,for us the location was good but it is a little far out of the city centre , but it does have the Mastbosch just across the road and I think it’s only about a 20 minute walk from the Ginneken area which has a few restaurants and bars . We ate in the hotel restaurant ( the engineering of the old ceiling fans is great )and can honestly say it was one of the best meals I have had in the Netherlands ,overall I would be very happy to stay in this hotel again .

Hotel was nice, very old fashioned not a problem but not 4star by current standard, no AC, no Fan, no tea and coffee facilities, for price paid was acceptable though.

Restaurant was very good lovley setting outside but attention to detail from waiting staff let things down a little.

Like some of the other reviews say, this is a decent hotel with a lot of old world charm - emphasis on the \"old.\" The area is definitely quiet and out of town - with no restaurants or stores around it. The staff are very nice, and the wifi was great, though. I stayed in a single room and it was tiny - I had to move the desk chair out of the way just to get from one side of the room to the other. This hotel was part of an airfare/hotel package I purchased. It wasn't terrible, but I don't think I would go back - I would try for something in town.

Extremely hard to rate this hotel

This is one of TWO different \"Golden Tulip\" properties in Breda, and is on the outskirts of town not in the center. My work was in the center so it was about 2.5km walk/bike/taxi. I walked, as the weather was nice. This is a pretty old property, kept very much in the same style as it probably was in the 1930s -- right down to the giant wooden key fobs mean to be left at the desk when you go out. The bed was very comfortable, and the room had what it needed to have, but wasn't modern. The small flat screen \"monitor/tv\" from Sansung actually worked well for my needs because I could hook the laptop to it and use it to play my own stuff. The WIFI was fast for 2/3 of the days, then the 3rd didn't work. I didn't complain and I'm sure it just needed a reset on a local router or something. The only \"Bad\" thing that happened while I was there, was the last evening they had a major water leak and had to shut down all the water in the hotel while they fixed it. No plumbing until around midnight when they got it fixed. They were out of water bottles but brought up a carafe of water and a glass. The real thing that saves the place is the excellent staff. I'm sure if I'd asked they'd have carted up buckets of warm water for a bath (of course I did not). They helped me with train schedules, taxi arrangements, etc.

The rooms are rather small but it is cleaned properly. The hotel is isolated from the city, which takes 15 min to get to the town on foot. However, the restaurant is excellent in the point of price, service and taste.

The Hotel was easy to find, even arriving late at night. Hotel staff were helpful and efficient. Service was very good, as was the food, although we did find the breakfast a little expensive for what it was. Evening meals were excellent and good value. There was litttle in the way of ameneties, but this was a short stay so these were not missed. Location was excellent, being in the forest yet only a short drive to the main shopping and dining areas of Breda.Overall we enjoyed the stay and will continue to use Tulip Hotels as being good value, with individual character.

Nice charming hotel, good breakfast and service at reception. But, the bedroom was too basic for the needs of a businessperson - wardrobe too small to fit any shirts/jackets inside, desk chair not comfortable, not enough shelf space for belongings, bed not very comfortable. This does not yield a comfortable stay for business needs. Good hotel location, close to motorway.

Loved the old world atmosphere

I loved the location of this hotel, right next to the woods where there are various walking trails and yet not too far from center of town. It is very close to another nice part of town (called Ginneken) where it is fun to have dinner or sit on a little terrace. The service was excellent and very friendly and our room quite large and comfortable with two big windows looking out on the woods. It is so nice to have trees right outside your window and not some parking lot. We were on a low floor and I was worried that it would be noisy with the terrace right below us, but that was not the case so we slept with the windows open. We were there at the end of September so it was probably too cold for people to use the terrace until late in the evening. (I don't know what this would be like in the middle of summer).The hotel is old but very well maintained and the age of the property gives it a lot of character and that nice old world atmosphere. Parking was not a problem. I will definitely stay in this hotel again next time I visit Breda.

If you're looking for a nature vacation

I stayed at the hotel for a convention at the city center, which is 4km away. The hotel itself is fine, but I would not recommend it unless you have a vehicle because getting around can be frustrating otherwise.The view is breath-taking, there's wi-fi everywhere.

Quiet location, nice staff but need a car!

The best thing about this hotel is the very pleasant terrace where you can sit in the nice weather and enjoy drinks and snack, popular with locals. The sorrunding forest is very pleasant for walks but if you don't have a car there is nothing around. Breda center is about 5-6km and not really at walking distance, taxis will cost about 10-15 euros.
I stayed in a single room and it was quite small, but bathroom had nice shower and quite adequate.
The staff in the reception and restaurant are very pleasant, so my visit was ok but definitely need car if you want to get around from the hotel.

mastbos hotel...lots of charm

old hotel with lots of \"original\" features. One feature is room size for standard room which equals Tokyo.
Super small and no room for suitcase. But the place is charming and has lots of atmosphere.
So, no business but leisure.
Close to forested area and great for any outdoor activity,
Upgrade to bigger room and you'll be fine.

De vierpersoonskamer was niet geschikt voor 4 volwassenen. Het extra bed was erg klein. De kamer was mooi opgeknapt. Faciliteiten waren niet voldoende. Geen thee of waterkoker. Deze was na navraag wel beschikbaar.
Extra bed was boven hoofdingang en erg gehorig. Hotelvoorzieningen zijn verder erg gedateerd.

Ett självklart val!

Underbart klassiskt hotell med anor från 1800-talets slut inbäddad i grönska. Charmig restaurangdel med bevarad originaldekor med trevlig liten frukostbuffé. Rummen lite slitna och sängarna hårda. Men skulle välja detta hotell framför vilket standardhotell som helst! Genuin familjär känsla som genomsyrade hela stället inklusive personalen. Rekommenderas!

I had a good stay in Hotel Mastbosch in a singles room. Dinner was really good, but a bit pricey for the portion size in my opinion. They provided me with a breakfast packet which was quite sizeable for the price on the other side. Lastly, the beds were a bit soft to my liking, but that's just personal preference I assume.
Employees were friendly, surroundings are really nice and green, rooms were clean as well.
I will most likely be staying here another time and would recommend the hotel to others.

Je moet er van houden. Mooi oudbollig hotel. Nog lekker met zo'n ouderwetse sleutel. Dit hotel is perfect als je lekker wil wandelen. De kamer zelf is zeer basic. er staat niet eens een koffie machine. Maar goed als je alleen daar bent om te overnachten en niet teveel eisen stelt, is het allemaal prima.

Op zich een prettig hotel. Schoon en verzorgd. Vriendelijk personeel. Een goed bed en nette badkamer.
De ventilatie mogelijkheden op de kamer laten te wensen over, waardoor het bij aankomst wat minder fris ruikt. Er is alleen een groot raam dat open kan.
Verder misten we een kluisje voor waardevolle spullen, zoals een laptop.

Wat gedateerd maar netjes

We namen een standaard kamer. Ik had wellicht wel 15 euro extra willen uitgeven voor comfort kamer omwille van het bubbelbad, maar dat hebben ze niet allemaal dus dat zou een gok geweest zijn.
De kamer was in jaren '90 stijl ingericht maar de badkamer (met alleen douche) was een stuk recenter. Hier en daar wat slijtage maar alles wel netjes en schoon. Er was bizar veel kastruimte maar geen kluisje. Wel twee tafels/werkplekken met voldoende stopcontacten (daar ontbreekt het wel eens aan in oudere hotels).
In de douche miste ik een planchet waardoor je je shampoo etc op de grond moet zetten of op de kraan moet balanceren, maar dat is een probleem dat in wel meer hotels voorkomt.
We kwamen voornamelijk om te wandelen en daarvoor is de ligging ideaal: je steekt vanaf het terras de straat over, en je bent meteen in het Mastbos.

Echt waardeloos, duur betaald voor wat het is, vergane glorie. Kamer was koud, zelfs na de temp op 100 te zetten ging de temp maar 2° omhoog, dus nog steeds maar 14° max. Restaurant, kaart gevraagd, na 1,5 uur nog steeds niemand die de bestelling kwam opnemen, ben dus gewoon weg gegaan. Ontbijt, scrambeld eggs, koud, bacon, koud.Neen nooit meer echt waardeloos.

es war zu sehen das nicht alle Zimmer renoviert sind und so werde alte unrenovierte zu 70€ angeboten. nicht zu empfehlen, Betten, Ausstattung nicht gut und sehr eng für 1 Pers. Zimmer.

Stijlvol hotel in mooie omgeving

De Comfort kamer was veel groter dan verwacht en lang niet zo 'achterhaald' als sommige recensies aangeven. Uitstekend bed en mooie grote jacuzzi waar je makkelijk met 2 personen in kunt bubbelen. Niet goedkoop maar de prijs waard !

So-so maar wel aardig

Mooi gebouw op schitterende lokatie. Verder was alles een beetje net mis. Beetje investering en je hebt een top tent. De mensen bij de receptie waren fantastisch, het ontbijt echt het geld niet waard
