Riad Houdou is an excellent Riad to stay in if you want to experience the Medina first hand. The staff is excellent and the food is great. They are in walking distance to many of what you are looking to visit within the Medina (shopping, restaurants, etc...). The only knock is that everything is cash based, which they let you know up hand, but just make sure you plan accordingly. Even with this, I would still recommend staying here. Enjoy Marrakech (the Red City).

The thing about this particular property was that these guys made a special effort to introduce us to give us bite-sized introductions to Do's Dont of Morocco without any special prompting. Their welcome was special, making us comfortable by giving a tour of Riad was a great touch. They all were special people trying to make us feel special.

The Riad itself is amazing, wonderful architecure and decor. The staff were very helpful and accomodating. Can't find anything negative to say. If you find the Medina overwhelming this Hotel is well positioned as although it isn't far from the busy streets, you aren't directly on them so you won't be stepping directly out into the madness and there aren't any noise concerns.

Wow! What an amazing property and introduction to Morocco and Marrakech. I arranged for the airport transfer through the riad, and that was super convenient and affordable. The driver was waiting for us just outside the airport and dropped us off, and we were met by a guide who carried our luggage in a cart through the medina to the riad. The riad itself was beautiful. The main courtyard full of roses. We arranged for dinner to be provided the night we arrived. It may have been the best meal I have ever eaten. Incredible greeting mint tea and pastries, when we arrived, and then the dinner, a fantastic starter, wonderfully delicious tagine, and an amazing dessert. We had early departures and they arranged for a breakfast to go for us one day and an early breakfast the other. The location was perfect for us. The rooftop terrace was a beautiful setting for breakfast or an evening glass of wine with olives. The service was amazing.

The property is located 10-15min walk from the main square and it is an oasis of calm, with all the usual amenities (including free filtered water, kettle in the room). Would definitely stay again.

WOW, a must stay. I didn’t come thinking or expecting more than normal, however the attention everyone puts in this beautiful Riad is something you don’t easily get nowadays. Eric and Didier are there all the time to make sure everyone is taken care of. The staff is friendly and the riad is a diamond in the inside. The only thing you will regret is not staying longer!

I took my dad (74) on a weekned here and it was the perfect quiet retreat that contrasted against the busy souks perfectly. Memorable Marrakech Riad experience!
Lovely, lovely Riad in the heart of the Medina, a ten minute walk to Place Jamaa El Fna. Eric, Didier and their entire staff are hosts extraordinaire! The refurbishment and decorations of this historic Riad are incredible and creative. Everything from the breakfast on the terrace, the hammam experience, the apertif time, and exquisite Moroccan meal preparation created a most memorable vacation for us!

If you are going to Marrakech I would highly recommend staying here. The service provided really helps you make the most of your time in the city. The location is a 10 minute walk from the main square and although right next to the hustle and bustle as soon as you are in the Riad it's lovely and relaxed. I would definitely advise using the hotels pick up service from the airport as I'm not sure you'd find any Riad without it!

A special place and a wonderful experience
My wife and I spent our honeymoon & her birthday at the Riad Houdou. From the moment we arrived Didier, Eric, Aziz and Abdel went out of their way to look after us and guide us. The Riad wasn't just a lovely place to stay, it was an integral part of our Marrakech experience. The food was excellent, the location perfect and the pool on the roof was the perfect way to unwind from the thrill and excitement of a long day spent discovering the Medina. Perfect!!

We highly enjoyed our three day stay at Riad Houdou. The owners and staff are terrific and will take great care of you. The Riad is well kept and very comfortable, and located less than 10 minutes by foot from the main square and less than 7 minutes from the souks and Museum of Marrakech. The rooftop terrace is very nice, the breakfasts are delightful. The hamman and massage services offered at the Riad are great. Most important, the attentive staff and owners Eric and Didier could not have been more friendly, informative, and attentive. Strongly recommend Riad Houdou if you are looking for a comfortable and affordable Riad to stay in while visiting Marrakech.

Warm welcome by owners, riad very decorative
We had a warm welcome from Eric and great personal service from Didier. Abdel gave us an informative guide to the city and led us to Djemaa el Fna on the first morning. The riad has been made very decorative. We did feel however that fewer ornaments and more usable space would be better, as the room was very compact, and practical maintenance could be improved.

We absolutely loved our stay at Riad Houdou and couldn’t recommend it enough. The Riad is beautiful, Eric, Didier and the staff are amazing and so hospitable. We were greeted with mint tea and cakes on arrival, the breakfast was wonderful and we loved relaxing on the rooftop terrace. On our first day Eric walked to the main square with us to show us the way and we easily found the way on our own after that. The room was beautiful with lovely little touches. You have to stay at this Riad!

From the minute we were met at the airport to leaving the Riad everything was wonderful. The care provided by Eric and Didier (and all the staff) was just lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. The Riad was stunning and our room, although one of the cheapest and a not enormous, was beautifully decorated and the bathroom was very attractive. Breakfast on the roof terrace (different every day) with home made breads, yoghurts and jams was absolutely delicious.

Our room was small for a couple and on the top floor. Very cold on the first night. Very noisy at night. Street noise and loud speakers in the early hours wake you up. Not so comfortable. Crockery had chips. Abdul and his staff were very helpful. Riad needs serious updating.

Riad Houdou is situated within the walls of the Medina and in easy walking distance of all the sights. Everything was perfect about our stay - it's an extraordinary place. The design is absolutely gorgeous, from the rooms through to the public spaces (in particular, we loved the central courtyard filled with traditional lemon/orange trees as well as quirky decorative touches). The food was magnificent, from breakfast on the roof terrace to dinner in the small, intimate restaurant. However, beyond a doubt, the best part about this Riad is the staff. Our hosts, Eric and Didier, were most attentive, friendly and accommodating. However, we were also expertly looked after by Abdel, Aziz and the talented cook. Don't go to Marrakech without booking here.

Nothing bad to say about this wondeful Riad - a peaceful oasis in a hot, dusty and noisy city. Nothing was too much effort for the owners. We loved our stay and would return in a heartbeat. I wasn’t expecting to love Marrakesh as much as I did, this Riad contributed massivley to that feeling.

The Riad is beautiful and the location is great. nice and quiet at night and very quick walk to everything. The farthest walk to anything we had was the square and it was less then 10 minutes. Derek and Vidir are such gracious hosts. They sat down with us and went through the entire Riad, and went over the area map too. The next morning Derek walked us to the square so we could see the path to get there and back. They go above and beyond for the guests. It is very obvious they love hosting and taking care of people. Everything was wonderful. I was not impressed with the meals there, they weren't bad, but they weren't very good. Their hospitality definitely out ways that though. They try so very hard to make each guest feel welcome and comfortable and for that alone they get an A++ in my book.

Hidden Gem in Marrakech
We had a wonderful stay with the Didier, Eric and their 4-star staff. We turned ourselves over to them and we're pampered with massage and incredible meals in the Riad courtyard. (We stopped eating out!.) They arranged fun activities for teens and we're able to accomdate all types of adventures for us. For those who like detail; great location, fluffy towels, plenty of hot water, immaculate rooms and a lovely breakfast on the roof terrace. Fabulous stay!

Fabulous Riad in a Central position in the old Medina. Such a tranquil atmosphere with wonderful scents and flowers, it was unbelievable how relaxed we were after just a few days. Didier and Eric are wonderful hosts, as are their friendly but professional staff. Worth having them arrange the transfer to and from the airport as it would be challenging on a first visit to find the Riad independently. From arriving slightly nervous to venture out on our own, with their guidance on our first morning we soon grew in confidence and enjoyed strolling around the souks and chatting to the friendly local people. Had a couple of evening meals in the Riad, both of which were delicious.

A gem in the heart of real Marrakech
If you're want to sample the fascinating and frenetic medina, and get a taste of traditional Marrakech without compromising on comfort and quality, Riad Houdou is the one for you. Despite being right at the heart of medina's action, once you're within the riad, it feels as tranquil as any cosy country retreat. Centred around an airy, citrus tree filled courtyard, Riad Houdou had all we needed for a fabulous stay. We expected a clean and comfortable stay but we got much more; a chic environment, professional staff and tasty traditional meals with ingredients bought fresh from the medina's stalls each morning. The owners greeted us with mint tea and an invaluable introduction to the medina, without which my husband and I would have been quite literally lost!
