Fine business hotel near to Kusatsu station

This hotel was built around 2013/2014 so it is in good shape & offers all the room conveniences of a modern Japanese hotel. Its buffet breakfast room is also a restaurant open to the public. The Japanese breakfast selection was excellent.

Reception staff were polite & helpful. The hotel is very near to Kusatsu station but there was no problem with noise from trains. There is a handful of restaurants on the square to the east side of the station, easily accessible through the station (the hotel is on the west side).

Rooms are \"the standard small size typical of a modern Japanese business hotel\".

Very large room with a modern interior.
Staff very friendly throughout the stay.
Room cleanliness cannot be faulted.
The breakfast buffet has a massive selection of dishes so is great to suit everyone.
The restaurant dinner menu is varied and delicious food.
Although the hotel is not in central Kyoto the train station (2 minute walk) has frequent trains into the center (less than 20 minute train ride, less on rapid services). It’s location means the rooms are very quiet at night so it’s easy to get a good nights sleep.

Good price, very small room.

Good price and very clean and up dated. Room was very small. We were gone a lot in Kyoto so did not bother us. Know closet and hard to fit luggage, but we managed.

For convenience to the train station, this hotel is nice. Our room was non-smoking however it had been a smoking room at one point in time. The room still smelled like remnants of cigarette smoke, which was not to my liking. However, overall, our stay was very nice

Room is a typical Japanese business hotel size (a tad bit in the small side). But the staff was very friendly and helpful as well. The local area is pretty quiet with a Family mart a block away. Parking is a bit of a hassle in that you have to go to the back to use a parking elevator. But for the price, definitely worth staying.

Location: Superb close to JR (right beside the hotel), 24/7 supermarket, family mart, 7/11, restaurants nearby (if you willing to walk several steps further), quite and relaxing surrounding.

Room: Clean, cozy and comfort.

Staff: Friendly and helpful.

Facility: There is laundry room which contain paid washing maching and clothes dryer which help you to travel light or spare more spaces for shopping.

Note: It takes about 20 minutes to Kyoto Station. Great option (if the price match your budget), you are fine with extra travelling cost/time for nice surroundings and 24/7 supermarket is a sweetspot for late evening groceries.

Great stay in Kyoto.

Hotel location is excellent , right next to the JR station. If you were to stay here make sure to purchase your JR pass if not, it can get expensive to get to most popular tourist location in Kyoto. Staffs was very nice and helpful. Even this is one of the older hotel, the room is very clean, room size is typical Japanese size but bigger than most Tokyo hotels. Bed is comtable, bathroom is a little small but clean. Overall, I am very happy and definitely recommending this hotel to traveler visiting Kyoto.

Great value!!

The hotel was clean, comfortable and covenient for the train station to Kyoto/Osaka. There are many restaurants in the area and a supermarket juwt a few steps away from the hotel. Would definitely recommend.

Overall, I am very pleased while a week stayed at the hotel during my business trip. The room was very clean but rather small with no closet.

The hotel was clean and well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful (which is a common theme in Japan). The hotel isn't located in Kyoto itself but is just a 10 minute train ride into the city. The great part is that it is located literally directly next to the station and there is a 24 hour family mart right next to the hotel also (so it's very convenient especially with a JR pass). Absolutely provides good bang form your buck. Overall, a great hotel.

Although it is located besides Minami-Kusatsu station, we need to incur ¥640 per person for a round trip to Kyoto everyday unless one owns a JR pass.

Commute to downtown, poor wifi

Its location about 20mins by express train to downtown Kyoto does keep its rates low but there are no sights close to the hotel, so you're looking at commutes everyday. Trains always seem to be packed, so expect standing room most of the time.

Wifi is no useable, it is extremely slow, even when the connection to the router is strong. They give you a mini router upon request that plugs into the Ethernet cable in your room, but this is unnecessary if the wifi was working properly and I only received it a few nights in - no apologies either, they just handed me the router.

We got a really good deal to stay at this hotel via hotels.com. Given that the hotel was clean and conveniently located close to Kyoto, I have no complaints. The first night we got in right around midnight and we were pleasantly surprised that there were several izakaya-style dining options in the area. Given the price of our hotel room, we had to compromise on room size, the lack of a gym or spa, and the fact that the front desk didn't speak English very well. The latter was not a problem because we had no issues with our room or bill. If I'm in the Kyoto area on a budget again, I would definitely stay here again.

Clean modern hotel with easy commute to Kyoto

Convenient location right outside the station. You can visit Kyoto easily if you don't mind taking 20 min by train to get to Kyoto central. Trains run all the time, even to our surprise on Sunday morning. We had the Japan Rail pass that includes this JR line to/from Kyoto.

We got to the room and it smelled like cigar even though the floor was not smoking. We told front desk and the changed us immediately. Good service.

The wifi signal was very bad.

20 mins away from Kyoto station by train. 1 min walk to the station. Very clean. Friendly staff, able to speak English. Room was small, but very clean and enough for two people. Buffet breakfast just 1200 yen was nice, available from 7.30 till 1100

Wifi is not reliable, sometimes speed drops. There's high speed Internet available at the repetition area with printing facilities for 100 yen.

Value for money. Highly recommended.

Awesome budget hotel

The staff was very helpful when we arrived early and asked to leave our luggage. When we arrived back later, they had already taken our bags up to our room for us! They helped us with reservations and information about temples as well, even though they weren't confident with their English. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was a great mix as well.

A bit away from the main drag

If you don't mind the extra 15/20 minute commute to Kyoto it's a lovely affordable hotel. Located right at the bottom of minami kusatsu station, nice and easy to find. It has every thing you need, every thing is new and in good condition and staff are very helpful and friendly. I'd recommend staying here if you want a little more peace from the main hustle and bustle of Kyoto downtown.

This hotel is very clean and is very reasonably priced. The supermarket close by has the cheapest sashimi that you could find in Japan. The one thing to remember is that it is not in the Kansai pass zone, so you need to pay another two hundred yen to get there. It is about six stations and twenty minutes from Kyoto station. The Jr fee is about three hundred yen

Nice alternative to central Kyoto

This was a cheaper alternative to staying in Kyoto proper, but it's right next to a station with an easy link into Kyoto. The hotel was nice, the staff friendly, but the promised free wifi in the room did not work (was available in the lobby). The local area around the hotel was nice: convenient stores and restaurants.

Extremely close to the train station.

I liked our stay in this hotel, it is very convenient from the train station. Very next to it there is a very good convenience store for me to get all the necessary items, also a dollar store (100 yen ) at the nearby mall. Two things I didn't like about it was always the elevator stopped at level three where the front desk was located and the room was way too small. There is no place to leave your luggages. The bed was small . We stayed five nights and we got used to it after a while. The shower was excellent and they provided extra pillow and internet connection in the room. That was nice.

Great alternative kyoto hotels

Highly recommended. The hotel as well as my room was very clean. It was a bit small, but for the price, you get the bang for your buck. The hotel was right beside a JR station. I originally was suppose to stay in central Kyoto, but that fell through so I booked this last minute and was very satisfied. A lot cheaper than Kyoto hotels but very accessible because of JR station location. If you have a JR pass, I would recommend you stay here and just use the pass to get to downtown Kyoto, it's only about 15 minutes away by train which comes pretty frequent. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel has amazing location. 5 min walk to asakasa-mitsuke station that has 5 different lines that goes all around Tokyo. The room is regular small to Tokyo. It has wireless internet which is very important. Very recommended.

Very convenient location next to the train station. Easy commute to both Ritsumeikan BKC campus and into Kyoto. Rooms comfortable; Wi-Fi available in rooms at very reasonable rate (though a limited number of Wi-Fi routers available for rent - think we were lucky to get one). Small shopping mall at train station with various shops/restaurants/bakery. Two convenience stores below hotel. Everything we needed right there. Would stay there again if visiting Ritsumeikan BKC.

We were check in to the hotel for 4 days for holiday vacation during our 2 weeks visit to Japan. We kinda impressed with the room comfortability particularly the bed though it's not a king size. The toilet are small but it's usual in most of Japan's hotel. Apart from this, the hotel location are extremely close to the minami kusatsu train station (5mins walk) and is very convenient especially if you're with handful of luggage. There's not much happening spot at the hotel surrounding and is very quiet. Would recommend for a short stay for those who love suburban.

スタッフの方々が全体的に表情がかたく、笑顔がないのが残念でした。
外国人スタッフの方々の日本語が、十分じゃないところを補うのが大変かと思いますが、もう少し、笑顔で接する心がけをしていただけると、少々時間がかかったりしても、気分を害することはないので、お客さんは快適に安心して過ごせるのではないかなと感じました。
朝食ビュッフェはとてもおいしかったです。

totoジャパントーナメントの宿泊客が多く、足に芝生を付けて宿泊された方が多くエレベーターに芝が散乱。当日は兎も角翌朝も残っていた。状況が分かれば、掃除スタッフ以外の者でも清掃出来るはずです。私もゴルフ観戦の帰りで状況が判断出来ましたが、それ以外の客はどう捉えたか心配です。

立地は駅前なので良いです。
一人旅だったのでシングルですが、部屋は清潔でかつシモンズのベットで良かったです。
アメニティはフロントの前に置かれていたので便利です。
朝食のバイキングもいろいろ選べるし美味しかったです。

残念なところは、大浴場がないことです。

個人的には、また利用したいホテルでした。

禁煙のホテルでタバコ吸うな！我慢くらいしろ！

チェックイン済ませて案内されたお部屋のフロアに到着すると廊下が真っ暗。「え？何これ」と想いつつスマホのライト頼りにお部屋に移動(ライトがないと部屋番号も分からない暗さ)
で、お部屋に入ると今度はお部屋がかなりタバコ臭く「うわー失敗した...」と想いつつ予約を確認すると「禁煙」の文字。ちゃんと禁煙の部屋とってるじゃん　と想いフロントへ連絡。フロントの方曰く「当ホテル全室禁煙でして、すぐ伺います」と言ってすぐ来て確認頂きました。
たまたま空き部屋があったのでそちらに移動。
(真っ暗な廊下にホテルの方もびっくり)
色々ありましたがホテルの方の対応も良く、快適に過ごせました。
ホテルに文句じゃありませんがホテルを代弁して言います。
禁煙なんだからタバコくらい我慢しろ！

設備は新しくキレイ。

アメニティはフロント階に置いてあるので、必要なものを自分で取って部屋に入るスタイル。

2023.3.4 の18時頃にチェックインしましたが、フロントで受付してくれた男性に愛想が全くなく、簡単な説明で、部屋のカードキーもパッと渡されるのみ。

もやもやと不快な気持ちのまま部屋にはいりました。ホスピタリティ精神はあまり高くないホテルだと思います。
